Lex hadn't even reach the door before she was transported back to her childhood living room and found herself strapped into a chair, unable to move. She struggled and pulled at her restraints. She had to remember she wasn't the twelve year old girl anymore. She was a hunter. She fought ghouls and ghosts, doppelgangers and changelings, witches and demons – but yet she was unable to fight to save the lives of the people who meant the most to her- just like last time.
And Yellow Eyes was enjoying her struggles with yelping glees. The worst part, he was using Sam as his meat suit. But to her surprise there was a second Sam. Like Eli and Dean, he was unconscious.
Lex could guess what happened. From the battle wounds on the boys' faces, Lex could see they put up a fight. Eli's face was covered in bruises and shallow cuts. Sam's nose was probably broken as dried blood clung to his lips and chin. Dean had a large gash on his head, it was fresh and still bleeding. Yellow Eyes smiled. "How does it feel to be back here? Living this all over again?" Yellow eyes almost chucked, mocking her. "I must admit, this is the first time I've been able to use this curse on a hunter. Fears feed me Lex, and I must say yours and those of your fellow hunters are gluttonous."
"Let them go!"
Yellow Eyes tilted his head in curiosity. "Now why would I let them go? You already had your chance to save them and you didn't. Now you're just going to have to live with this for the rest of your life."
Lex didn't know where the knife came from, but there it was. Yellow Eyes smiled and quickly sliced it across Sam's forearm. Blood gushed free. The pain forced Sam to scream awake. "What the…" His eyes sprang open and looked right at Lex. "You're okay!" There was relief in his voice. "You have to stop this Lex."
"And how do you expect her to do that?" Yellow Eyes was no longer Sam. He was now the man she remembered seeing down in the basement with John at the hospital. When he looked at her, for a split second his eyes were black. "She's tied up and all alone."
"You hurt her and I swear I'll find you. I will make sure you never come out of the pit again."
"Promises, promises. Too bad you won't live long enough to keep them."
"In nomine patri et fili spiritu sancte…" Sam started. Surprisingly, Lex began to feel more in control more powerful. But before he could finish, Yellow Eyes back handed Sam so hard his chair fell to the ground. His head hit the floor like a bouncy ball and his eyes rolled into the back of his head. "I'll play with him later. Maybe it's Eli's turn?"
"Don't you dare touch him!" Lex screamed. She could start to feel something giving with the chair. It was started to feel looser.
Dean groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. He saw Lex tied up. Sam on the ground and Eli still unconscious. "God damn it!" He began to pull at his chains. "Lex, listen to me…"
Yellow Eyes was there stepping between Lex and Dean. "Did you sleep well?"
"You son of a bitch." Dean pulled himself forward, almost popping his arm out of its socket. "I'll send you to hell."
A knife reappeared. Yellow Eyes snickered as he moved closer to his prey. "I'm untouchable." He whispered in merriment.
"You come one step closer and so help me."
"So help you what?" Yellow Eyes said through his laughter as he slowly dug the blade into Dean's shoulder. Dean let out a scream. "As long as I'm in here you can't touch me."
"Lex! You need to fight this! You need to…"
"Now now…" Yellow Eyes dug the blade just a little deeper. "No playing hero."
For a moment Lex caught sight of an old factory looking place. And her hands – they had blood on them, but they were free. The vision only lasted a moment before it was gone and she was back to this nightmare. Whatever happened had caused Yellow Eyes to stop his assault, though it was only a momentary reprieve. He pulled the blade out and sliced it across Dean's cheek.
Dean was pulling so hard at his restraints his wrists were starting to bleed. "Lexi, please I am begging you to fight this. You can stop this! I know you're listening."
"God damn it what do you want me to do?" Lex screamed.
"Fight this Lex. Take control…"
"Hey now! I already told you to stop that." Yellow Eyes barked cutting another line across Dean's other cheek. "Let's see if we can't do something about that pretty face of yours."
"I'm trying…" Lex began. Yellow Eyes looked at her again and smiled. His eyes weren't yellow. They were black. This time Lex knew she wasn't imagining it. What the hell is going on, she thought. Suddenly her hands were free and bloody… Dean's blood was pouring down them. And she had the knife. She dropped the knife and backed away only to find herself still trapped in the chair.
Lex swallowed hard and glanced around the room. The image flickered like a bad connection. Part of the time she was seeing a rundown abandon factory and other times she was standing in her home. There were times when she was in the chair, tied up and other times were she was the one doing the torturing. When she closed her eyes she could see herself hurting Eli, Sam and Dean. She saw images of her standing over Dean – knowing she did it – but not knowing how. Then there was Eli, and Sam… poor Sam…
The exorcism. Sam started it. The flashbacks started because he … he caused a crack. Lex started to remember that she was hunting with Eli and something happened. The abandon warehouse – that's where they lead the demon too. Reality clicked. Her brain was being held hostage while a demon played dominatrix with her body.
Suddenly Lex slammed into her body causing her to fall to her knees. "Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem, Creatorem caeli et terrae. " she continued.
Demon fought back.
"Et in Iesum Christum, Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum, qui conceptus est de Spiritu Sancto…"
The demon tried to force itself back into the control. Part of Lex was wavering. Every now and again she would be back in her mind, in her chair, staring at Yellow Eyes. But she refused to believe it was the truth… " natus ex Maria Virgine, passus sub Pontio Pilato, crucifixus, mortuus, et sepultus, descendit ad infernos…"
"That should be… impossible!" The demon screamed in Lex's voice. "You shouldn't be able to do that…" Before Lex could regain control and finish the exorcism – the demon smoked from her body. Lex collapsed to the ground.
Eli ran to his sister's side as her body collapsed to the ground. Eli checked his sister's vitals. She was stable. Her heart rate was good. He pulled open her eye lids and saw she was responsive. That was a good sign. She had a large bruise growing on the back of her head, but it didn't look like she sustained a concussion, or at least he hoped. He wouldn't know until she woke up. "Come on Lexi. I've seen you take worse." He wasn't joking either. He could still remember the beating she got from The Hellfire Club less than a year ago. "Don't make me get the salts." He ordered, giving her a vigorous shake.
Nothing.
Dean suddenly appeared at his side giving Lexi the once over.
"What can I do, Doc?" Dean asked pulling off his jacket and laying it over Lex's shivering body.
Eli shook his head. "I don't know."
"Should we be getting her to a hospital?"
An annoyed chuckled escaped from Eli's lips. "She's physically fine." Eli shook his head apologetically. "Can you get me the smelling salts? There in trunk." Dean nodded and left. Eli noticed Sam only just waking up. He ran to the younger Winchester's side and helped him out of the chair. "Let me take a look at you."
"I'll be okay. It looks worse than it is." Sam brushed the younger Fields away. "Lexi?"
Before he could answer, Dean was back and tossed the salts over to Eli. He opened the bottle and ran it under Lex's nose. Her eyes flew open as if a surge of adrenaline jolted through her. It took a few second before Lex realized where she was and what happened. "Are you guys… oh my god. I hurt you guys. I am so sorry!" Slowly the woman got to her feet only to stagger back against the wall for support.
All three men ran to help her but she begged them to stay away. "I did this." Lex took in the very banged up men. Every single infliction was her fault. It was her hands who held the knife. It was her fingers that dug in. It was her laugher that sang through the room in glee – glee for hurting the people she cared most about.
"No. A demon did." Eli tried to reassure his sister. But she wouldn't have any of it. "Lexi please…"
"Just stay… I… I can't believe…"
"That you got possessed.
"I was dreaming. But it was a nightmare. I was reliving my fears. I thought Yellow Eyes had you tied up and was hurting you – hurting you to get to me. I was twelve years old all over again. I couldn't save you. Any of you. But it was me." Lex held up her blood covered hands. "I did this."
"Stop! No you didn't. This was a demon. This wasn't you. We aren't blaming you. You shouldn't blame yourself." Sam said wrapping his arms about her. "You were possessed."
"Did the demon…"
"Escape?" Dean finished. "Yeah. Eli, we should take her home. She needs to rest. We'll figure out our next move from there."
"I'm not just going to leave while this demon…"
"Where did it go? Who did it possess after you?" Dean asked. Obviously he wasn't expecting an answer in return. He was trying to make Lex understand - there was no way for them to track it down. "We need to regroup, and you need to rest. We'll figure this out later."
Lex considered a retort but instead agreed and allowed Eli to help her out to their car and back home.
