Day One-Hundred Eighty-Seven: Forever and a Day by Christina Li
Forever is forever and we can't add days to forever.
But all I knew was that I wanted to stay with him in bed for forever and a day.
My heartbeat hastened when he was around. When we were wrapped up in moments like these and I could feel him breathing down the back of my neck, my heart felt like it was going to leap out of my chest. Butterflies couldn't even begin to describe the feeling in the pit of my stomach. The more time we spent together, the more we found ourselves getting tangled up in each other—both figuratively and literally.
I didn't want to let go.
I just wanted to stay with him for forever and a day. But I knew that when you loved something, you had to learn to let it go. I knew I'd see him again soon, but I just didn't want to let go.
I shivered a little bit as he traced the outline of my spine. He probably didn't realize how much a simple touch could affect me, but God, it made me feel nervous and anxious. His touch just cut on me and made my skin feel hot. My skin felt like it was on fire.
"When are you going to go?"
I dreaded the answer to this question. I didn't want him to go. I didn't want to be alone. That made the minutes seem like hours; the hours seemed like days and so on. Everything went on longer when you were alone.
"Soon. But not too soon."
Always too soon.
"Come here." He wrapped me in his arms and this felt like heaven on earth. I didn't need anything else after that.
"Never let me go," I asked. I knew he would have to, eventually. I was hoping he'd never get go of my heart; it would surely shatter into a million pieces all over the ground.
I felt him shake his head before he held me tighter. I just wanted him to hold me for forever and a day.
