Sup guys! Back with another update, as promised! You guys are so cute and so sweet! Your reviews seriously make my day. One of you asked in the reviews if I could write in Austin's point of view, but this story and my other one, Pieces of You, is Ally's POV only. I'm hoping to do a story in the future in Austin's POV only and a shared POV story though, so stick around for my new stories. But for now, baby steps ok!

"Austin we are going to get in trouble." I warned.
"No we aren't." he reassured.
Well I wasn't very reassured.
"Austin." I groaned.
"C'mon Ms. Diva, we're almost there." He teased.
"How dare you call me that!" I scoffed.
"My bad. How's dork? Maybe sweet cheeks? Or princess?" he smirked.
"No. Overused. And not half bad." I replied in all seriousness.
"Still a diva." He stated.
"Well I've got some names for you too. I'm thinking egghead. Or pumpkin? Perhaps Blondie." I suggested.
"Ally, you know how much I hate when you call me Blondie." He cringed.
"I have no idea what you are talking about, Blondie!" I teased.
"Diva!"
"Blondie!"
"Diva!"
"Take it back." I demanded.
"You know I would, but we're already here." he stated.
The sun had almost finished setting, so the way here had been pretty dark. I didn't realize we were walking to the older part of the camp grounds. This section was just an open field with a couple trees and too old to be used stuff on the other side of the lake. The camp hardly ever used this section anymore.
"So you're telling me that you made me sneak out of tonight's activity, risking major consequences if we get caught, just to come to a stupid tree? Seriously?" I asked.
"Ally Dawson, this is not just any tree! This is the very tree filled with our childhood memories." He smiled.
I took a second look at the big old tree standing before us.
"I can't believe I didn't recognize it." I said.
"C'mon." he said, taking hold of my hand.
He started his way up the tree, climbing to the branch we called ours. I trailed closely behind him, careful to follow his exact steps on the way up. It seemed to take us a lot longer to get up when we were younger, probably because we were still so small. But it hardly took us two minutes to get to where we wanted. He helped me on my last bit up, making me feel a tad safer at the new height we were at. I held on to his arm as tightly as I could and I didn't intend on letting go any time soon, for safety's sake of course. He sensed my fear and rubbed small circles on my hand with his thumb. This sent waves of pleasure up my entire arm.
"Wow. It's beautiful up here. Just as I remember." He stated, still rubbing tiny circles.
"I don't think we've been up here since we were thirteen." I laughed lightly.
"That seems so long ago now." he said in agreement.
"Remember when we'd get in trouble for being up here too long." I commented smiling.
"Yeah. It'd take like the whole camp staff and being promised extra marshmallow's at the fire to get us down." He laughed.
"I wonder why we just stopped coming here." I asked the question more for myself than him.
"I honestly don't know. I think we kind of just grew up." He said softly.
"Well growing up sucks." I declared.
He didn't say anything, just laughed. I secretly hoped he would just so I could hear it. The sound was sort of addicting really.
We sat in silence for a little, looking at anything but each other until I decided to break the silence.
"You know I don't see why Blondie is such a bad name. I quite like your hair." I smiled at him, ruffling his golden locks a bit.
"Because," he started, fixing his hair back into place.
"that nickname is really girly." He protested.
"I don't think so." I argued.
"Well I do." He argued back.
"Well I don't think I'm going to be able to not call you Blondie, so I guess you better get used to it." I teased.
"I guess I can deal with that." He teased back.
I'm thankful for the moon because it really showed Austin's features. It made his eyes sparkle. And it didn't help that the light made his lips stand out. I had been thinking about his lips almost all day. I couldn't really shake what happened down at the lake earlier this afternoon. But I still hadn't figured out anything that I wanted to know. That I needed to know.
He was still rubbing soothing circles into my hand. Our hips, shoulders, sides, legs, basically our whole bodies were pressed tightly together as if we were one person and not two separate people. I chewed my lip to make sure I didn't ask any of the questions on my mind because they'd reveal too much. He couldn't know that I, his silly best friend, liked him a lot. So instead I rested my head on his shoulder. It was the only part of my not joined with him. Well not anymore. We sat on the branch that supported the weight of my heavy heart and just stared at the sky. The stars and moon were breath taking, but not as breath taking as him.
"Ally." He slightly whispered.
"Hmm?" I replied still looking at the night sky.
"Curfew is in twenty minutes. We better head back." He informed.
"Alright." I sighed.
He got down first. I took another minute to admire the sky before I started my descend down. He got to the ground just I took my first step down. We had been probably more than ten feet up and it just hit me as I was going down how high that really was.
"Ally, are you ok?" he asked from below, concern filled his voice.
He looked so small from up here.
"N-not really." I stuttered out.
The sad part is I don't remember ever being scared of heights. Panic had quickly consumed me.
"It's alright. You're perfectly safe. Just take small steps." He encouraged.
I was frozen in fear, eyes glued shut and holding on for dear life to the branches closest to me.
"Austin I don't think I can do it." I croaked.
"It's ok. Just look at me." he said.
So I looked at him. I didn't dare move my eyes from his.
"Now scoot yourself to that next branch." He told me.
He didn't once look away from me either. I took a deep breath and slowly moved to where he had guided me to.
"Good Ally! Now put your foot down over there." He encouraged.
I felt safer as I realized I was getting closer to the ground. He slowly guided and encouraged me down the big tree. I probably had about four more feet till I was at the ground when my foot slipped. I tried to grab something but nothing was close by. It was useless to try anyways. I screamed loudly as I waited for my fragile body to hit the ground, bracing myself for the pain. Just when I thought I would hit the ground, I jerked to a stop in two familiar strong arms. My eyes had been glued shut on the way down, but I slowly opened to see none other than Austin. I smiled in relief.
"Oh thank god." I exclaimed.
I threw my arms around him, hugging him really tight as he held me in his arms.
"Are you for sure ok?" he asked, examining my face and body for anything that shouldn't be there.
"I'm fine. I promise." I answered as he put my feet back on the ground.
As soon as I touched the grass I pulled him in for another hug. I just felt so much safer in his arms.
"Thank you." I said into his chest.
"You had me really worried there for a second Ally." He admitted.
He held me tighter and brought me closer to him if that were possible. He stroked my hair with one hand and his other fell to the small of my back. My head moved up and down with his chest and the drum of his heart filled my ears. The hug was shorter than I would have liked it to be but we had to make it back in time. We were already in enough trouble as it was.
"So what happened up there?" he asked as we hurriedly walked.
"I don't know. I just suddenly felt overwhelmed and I forgot how high it used to be and I just I don't know." I tried to explain.
"Hey, it's ok." He reassured, pulling me closer into his side as we walked.
His voice was so soothing.
I couldn't help but notice how we walked. His hand was just lingering on my waist and mine was wrapped around his middle. I know it was mostly out of comforter but still. This was probably one of the most couple like affectionate thing we've done.
I tried to not let the placement of his hand and our closeness affect me as we walked and talked but boy was that hard.
"You know you always have been kind of klutzy." He joked.
I lightly hit his chest at the sad but true comment.
"Too soon?" he asked.
"I can't really be mad if it's true." I said.
"But hey, don't feel bad. Tons of girls are always falling for me." he teased, winking at that last part.
I knew he was just joking but I couldn't help but wonder if he was catching on. I swallowed nervously and took a moment before hesitantly laughing it off.
"A little full of yourself don't you think Blondie?" I asked.
"Not even." He laughed.
And there was that sweet laugh again.
Just as he finished his laugh we arrived right at my cabin.
"So I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked.
"What? Not even. The night is still young." He smiled.
"Austin I don't know what you're talking about.
"Just don't fall asleep early tonight ok." He told me.
"What?" I asked beyond confused.
"You better go get ready, curfew was two minutes ago." He reminded.
"Ok?" I said.
"I'll see you in a bit!" he shouted as he ran off the other way to his cabin.
I stood there dumbfounded and watched him until he disappeared into the night's darkness. What was he talking about? I decided to just get inside before I got in trouble.
I quickly started my night time ritual. First is changing into my pajamas, which consists of loose fitted pink shorts and a tight fitted white tank top. Just I got dressed the knock was at the door.
"Lights out." shouted a camp director from outside the door.
"Ok." I shouted back.
I quickly finished getting ready, washing my face and brushing my hair and teeth. As I did so I couldn't help but think of what Austin meant. He had been very vague and said he'd see me later. So that meant he was coming over here, right? But that would mean he was going to sneak out? I don't know. just as if things couldn't have been more frustrating, another knock came from my door.
"I know I'm heading to bed right now!" I shouted.
The knock continued.
I walked to the door and opened it slightly annoyed.
"I said I'm heading to- Austin?" I asked.
What I thought was a camp director turned out to be my devilishly handsome best friend standing before me. He too was dressed in his pajamas and had a bunch of unknown items in his hands.
"Hurry and close the door before we get caught." He told me.
I stepped to the side allowing him to get into my hot cabin and quickly shut the door as told.
"Austin, are you out of your mind?! If you get caught in here we are both dead." I exclaimed.
"Nice to see you too." He smiled.
I was at a loss for words right now. He's gone crazy.
"And keep down or we actually will get caught." He warned.
"Seriously you think me being quiet is the worst of our problems right now?" I whisper shouted.
"And this is why I'm here. You need to chillax." He stated.
"Chillax is not a real word!" I whisper shouted again.
It felt silly shouting at him in a hushed voice.
"See." He said, pursing his lips at me.
"What are you doing here?" I finally asked.
"To end our awesome hang out day we are having a sleep over party, Austin Moon style." He stated.
"Austin, that's really sweet but I'm not so sure about this." I said hesitantly.
"C'mon." he begged.
"Please. For me."
Ugh he knows how those puppy dog eyes get to me. It was silent for a few moments. The only sound was my tapping foot on the hard floor.
"Fine." I agreed, breaking the silence.
"Great." He smiled, clapping his hands together.
I took a look at my fresh made bed to find it covered in all of Austin's stuff.
"Jesus Austin what did you bring? Your whole cabin?" I asked.
"Not quite. But I did bring our favorite snacks, movies and my laptop, some blankets and other stuff. Plus I figured you can choose some things we do." He said.
"Well let's get this party started then." I half groaned half cheered.
"So what do you want to do first?" he asked.
Sometimes he is such a gentlemen.
"Hmm." I said aloud to show I was thinking.
"I'm in desperate need of manicure, and I think you could use one too!" I suggested with a smirk.
"Ally." He groaned.
"C'mon Blondie." I teased pulling him on to the bed.
I grabbed the few colors I had brought along with me to camp and brought them to the bed.
"Pick you're color. May I suggest pink? It'll really go great with your hair." I teased.
"Eh I'm thinking something more subtle. Like this clear color." He said holding up his desired choice.
"Fine. But next time you actually have to pick a color." I told him.
I opened the bottle and started on his nails. It only took me a few minutes to do both hands as it was just a simple clear coat. His nails were now shiny and made his rough hands look adorable.
"All finished." I announced proudly.
"How do I look?" he joked, showing off his hands.
"Super cute." I joked back.
We both burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"You're so lucky I like you." he laughed.
"What?"
Did I just hear right or? No. Impossible.
"You know. Cause you're my best friend." he smiled.
"Right." I forced a smile.
How stupid can you get Ally?
"So are you going to let me paint yours or what?" he asked.
The sad part is I wasn't sure if he was joking or being serious.
"I don't think you're quite ready yet." I teased.
I opened up the bottle of pink and started on my own nails. Austin watched closely as I focused on my hand.
"How are girls so good at this?" he asked slightly amazed.
I couldn't help but laugh at him.
"It's like a natural born girl power. We're just simply that good." I informed while continuing to paint.
"Wow." was all he could say.
I did the last few nails and took one last look at them.
"All finished!" I declared.
"Thank god." He sighed in relief.
"You alright?" I laughed.
"Yeah. I think I just need to do some pushups or something." He assured.
A small giggle escaped from my lips.
"Just hurry and pick what we're doing next." I demanded.
Without warning he picked up the closest pillow nearby and hit me.
"What was that for?" I asked.
"That was for making me paint my nails!" he laughed.
"Oh it's on Blondie." I declared with a smirk.
I quickly grabbed a pillow and smacked his chest.
"Stop calling me that!"
This time he hit my leg.
"Never!"
I hit the side of his head.
We continued to just laugh and smack each other with pillows for quite some time. We also threw playfully lame insults at each other like "wow you're weak." and "seriously that's all you got?". It basically summed up our relationship in a nutshell. I liked to think I was winning. That is until he decided it'd be fun to take my pillow so he had two and I had none. As you could probably suspect he continuously hit me with the pillows once I was defenseless.
"Alright! I'm sorry." I shouted through the pillows.
Thankfully he stopped, revealing a slightly disheveled Ally, my hair messed up and completely out of breath from laughing. We had ended up in a rather compromising position, much like earlier when he had tickled me to (almost) death. He was in fact a top of me and really close. But being so close was nothing new between us these days. He didn't say anything for a while. Instead he just looked at me. His eyes moved from my temples, to my eyes, to my lips and to my neck. I felt both uncomfortable yet calm under his stares. I'd be lying if I said my heart wasn't beating like crazy and my mind wasn't swirling in hazy circles. I just wish I knew what he was thinking too.
"I think it's time to break out the snacks and watch a classic Disney film." He suggested breaking the silence.
We didn't move from our compromising position though.
"Aren't we a little old to be watching this?" I asked.
"Never." He gasped.
"Ok just put it in." I laughed.
He finally moved off me, rolling over onto his side. It felt a little cold at the loss of the heat from his body being so close to mine. I went to turn the lamp on and the lights off as he set Aladdin up on his laptop for us. It was basically dark as the old lamp barely lit up. The only other light sources came from the window (which wasn't much) and the laptop screen. I snuck into my bed, crawling under the covers to join him. Since Austin had brought what seemed like a thousand blankets the bed was stuffed. I kind of loved it though. I managed to find Austin's body under the blanket mess, lying down beside him.
"Chips?" he asked, placing the bag in front of me.
"I thought you'd never ask." I said, pretending to be serious.
I took a chip and gladly munched on it, the moving just starting up. Austin was sitting upright against the headboard and I had my head in my hand, my elbow supporting the weight of my upper body as we watched. Our legs happened to be tangled together though. His legs were fully covered by the soft fabric of his long pajama bottoms. Austin probably slept in nothing but boxers like most guys did but for the sake of our sleepover he had worn probably the only pair of pajama's he owned. His feet were the only thing exposed with my almost bare legs.
Half way through the movie and a half eaten bag of chips later my arm started to fall asleep from being in the same position too long. So I rested my head against his chest hoping I wasn't going too far. I never took my eyes of the screen though. In response he played with my hair, so that must be a good sign. I couldn't focus on the movie, as the sound of his breath and heart beats were a lot louder than what was playing on the screen. His hand slowly went from playing with my hair to resting around my body. Kind of like one of those really good side hugs. I pressed closer into his side as he did so. My hands played with them hem of his simple white tee shirt.
Just as the movie was ending I felt myself grow really tired. I couldn't hold back a yawn and Austin saw it.
"Tired?" he asked.
"Yeah." I nodded, yawning again.
"Well now it's time for my favorite part. The sleeping." He said in hushed voice.
That conceived a little laugh from me.
He got up and took everything that didn't belong in the bed out. I watched him move carefully across the floor. Even the way he walked was captivating. He went and turned the little lamp off for me, making what shined through the window our only light source. I could barely make out the details of him, just his silhouette to be seen as he moved. It wasn't until he crawled back under the covers with me that I could make out the small details of him.
"Ally?" he murmured.
"Yes?" I answered.
We were so close, but that's how I liked it.
"Was today ok?" he asked.
"Today was perfect." I smiled.
"Good. If I ever do something like that again I don't know what I'll do. I can't believe I was so insensitive towards you." he admitted softly.
"Hey it's ok. I'm ok." I reassured.
I reached out to lightly touch his face with the tips of my fingers.
"I just don't want me having a girlfriend to get in the way of our friendship." he stated.
"And it won't." I replied.
"You're a really good friend Ally. Better than what I deserve to have." He told me.
There it was again. Friend. Why was that word so painful?
"Yeah." was all I could say.
"Goodnight Ally." He whispered into my ear.
"Goodnight Austin." I whispered back.
I turned onto my other side so I was no longer facing him. I'd never be able to sleep. I'd just look at him all night if I stayed that way. Plus I didn't want him to see the sadness fill my eyes.
The words "sweet dreams" and a chaste kiss on my shoulder were the last things I remember before finally falling asleep.
And what a peaceful sleep it was.
So yeah that's the final update/chapter for their makeup day! Sorry it took me so long lol. Please continue to read and review as I will always continue loving you guys!
