It was a Tuesday morning when Cam decided to visit Lillian for the last time. He had been going to the hospital every day, secretly sitting outside of her room to listen to her voice. Today was just any of those regular days, except it was one final time.
"Brother? Do birds wear bowtie like they do in Tv shows?" Lillian spoke. Her voice was soft and childish, almost like a five year-old.
"Cool birds wear bowtie. Normal don't," Phillip replied.
Cam let out a light chuckle and sat against the wall. He was there for a while until Lillian poked her head out of the room and stared at him.
"Who are you?" Lillian asked.
Cam tried to get up and run away but the girl grabbed his arm.
"W-wait! I-I always see you out here. Do you know me?" Lillian questioned. Her eyes filled with anxiety and desperation for an answer.
At this point, the blonde boy was panicking due to such a sudden move. His eyes fixed on the hands that were gripping his arms so tightly. It had been a long time since he felt her touch. It was rather pleasant and warming. He missed it.
"You know who I am right? Right? Can you tell me?" Lillian pleaded.
Phillip ran out of the room and paused when he saw Cam.
"Oh look! Birds with bowties!" he yelled as he ran inside, pretending like he saw nothing.
Lillian tightened her grip on Cam's arm and frowned.
"You know… I lost my memories after an accident. Brother does not want to tell me anything about my old memories. He said I have to remember it by myself but my head hurts whenever I tries to. Y-you know me, right? Please, tell me who you are to me!"
Cam bit his lip. It broke his heart to see Lillian acting this way but he could not bring himself to reveal his identify, afraid that she might get hurt. He gently pulled away from Lillian's grasp, letting her arms fell back to her side.
" I-…. I'm sorry, I don't know you and you don't know me," Cam replied. He walked away from her and slowly sped up his pace.
"W-wait! Please do not go! I—I feel like I know you!" Lillian shouted from a distance. Cam could hear her footsteps chasing after him. He tried to ignore her screaming as he accelerated his speed.
Lillian head was pounding like a drum. It hurt a lot. She was forcing herself to remember this young man. He just felt so familiar like he had been an important person to her. Yet his identity was hidden from her. The moment she looked in his eyes, she knew he was her answer. He was definitely her answer. Lillian could not take any chances to let him go because she felt he might just disappear forever. Her head was pounding again when she tried to remember his name. It started with a C. What was it? It was certainly started with a C but she couldn't make out other letters. The young man kept on speeding up, gradually getting further away from her sight. His name. She knew it. She definitely knew it.
"St—Stop! Cam!" she yelled. Her head was going to explode. The hall suddenly seemed like it was spinning. Everything was going in circle. Before she knew it, her body went weak and she fell down onto the ground.
Cam's heart stopped when he heard his name being called from the girl he loved the most. He turned around to find Lillian fainted on the ground.
"Lillian! Is something wrong?!" Cam ran to the girl and let her head rested on his arms.
"My head hurts a lot…"
"H-hold on, I'll bring you back to your room," Cam replied in panic. By then, the girl had already passed out.
"Tomorrow's the wedding?" Phillip asked, gazing at his sister who was resting quietly on her bed.
"Yeah… this will be the last time I get to see her," Cam replied.
"I wonder if it's right to hide this from her. She might be more brokenhearted if she regains her memories of you."
Cam didn't respond. There were just no words to. He stared at Lillian pained face. He, too, had questioned himself if what he did was the best for Lillian.
"Honestly, I'm glad that she can finally see you and talk to you for the first time ever since she woke up from her coma," Phillip muttered.
Cam looked at Phillip with a puzzled face and tilted his head, still he didn't respond.
"So she can see her past love ones for the last time. We're leaving this city tomorrow morning. I'm taking her back to my town so I can take care of her. Maybe there can be a chance that she will meet someone new, to falls in love and to create a family with. And maybe to start over. "
"Oh. I see… then I'm glad that she and I finally meet after four long years," Cam replied. He took one last glance at Lillian and left the room. I guess today will be our final moment and the last time we'll see each other, Cam thought, goodbye Lillian.
That night, Cam had locked himself up in his room and drifted to sleep. In his dream, he was awoken from his sleep by the loud cheers and happy giggles of little kids. They were jumping around on his bed, smiling and laughing.
"Daddy! Daddy! Wake up!" The boy, who looked about four, yelled. He had blonde hair and green eyes, wearing a batman t-shirt with gray short. He jumped on Cam and giggled.
The other little girl smiled and squeezed both of Cam's cheeks. She had her blonde hair tied in two pony tails and her green eyes spark with joy and excitement. A pink hello kitty dress covered her small body.
"Owww, that hurts," Cam groaned.
"Come on, Daddy! Breakfast is ready!" the little girl said.
"Children? Is daddy awake?" A woman voice yelled out.
" Yes, mommy!" the kids replied.
They pulled Cam's arms and dragged him out of his bed. He stumbled out to the kitchen to reveal the figure of the children's mother. Before he could see her, he woke up by the voices of his maids.
"Young master, it's time to get ready for your wedding," the maid announced.
"Y-yeah. Give me a minute to fresh up,"
"Yes. Please excuse me."
The maid exited the room and closed the door. Cam smiled to himself when he recalled his last dream. It gave him a heartwarming and joyful welcome. Becoming a father, having a wife to cook breakfast, and waking up from the kids' screaming and yelling might actually be nice. Cam snapped back into reality and stared at the calendar. That's right, today is the wedding isn't it?, he mentally mumbled to himself, I wonder if I will live my life like that with Laney.
