Rose rushed to the TARDIS, looking over her shoulder every few minutes just to make sure the Doctor wouldn't come running after her. She felt guilty lying to him about just grabbing her sweater, but then again, if he could think clearly, he would probably thank her for what she was doing. The TARDIS opened easily with the use of her key, and she immediately approached the console, taking a deep breath.

Rose liked to think her and the Doctor's ship had a sort of unspoken, deep relationship. She could hear the humming in her head, and sometimes, Rose thought she could understand what the ship was thinking. So when she laid her hands on the console, her hopes were high. "Um, hi, TARDIS," Rose began awkwardly. "So you've noticed the Doctor is sick, I'm sure. He's back in my flat right now. I need you to take me to the planet... Um... Tyribon. That's it. Can you please take me to Tyribon?"

The ship hummed in protest. "The Doctor is safe," Rose assured her (was it a her? The Doctor always referred to his ship as female, but was it like captains calling their boats by female pronouns? Then again, it wasn't really the time to worry about this). "On Tyribon there's a frog that can cure him. Please, just take me there? I don't know how long it will be until he tries to come after me."

After an annoyed hum, Rose let out a sigh of relief when she felt the TARDIS begin to move. Rose sat on the jump-seat and rubbed at her temples. Somehow a constantly horny Doctor was a thousand times more tiring than running from aliens on a distant planet. When the ship finally landed, Rose jumped over to one of the screens on the console as the Doctor had done so often to make 100% sure the atmosphere was safe. It was in Gallifreyan.

"The atmosphere is safe," a familiar voice said from behind her, making Rose yelp and jump in surprise, falling on her bum.

"Doctor?!" she replied in disbelief. "How did you bloody get here?"

"I am not the Doctor. You know me as TARDIS," the fake Doctor replied. "I chose a form that you find pleasing."

Rose blushed bright pink, "Okay, well thanks for informing me that the atmosphere is safe. Do you have any advice for finding the frog?"

The fake Doctor replied in a monotone, "They live in the swamps with pink grass, near ponds. To catch them you have to be swift."

"Do you have a net or something?" However, her last two words were yelped since when she said the word "net," one had appeared in front of her, falling to the ground. "Thanks." She suddenly felt uncomfortable with the fake Doctor's brown eyes staring at her emotionless. "Could you, um, pick another form?"

The image shimmered and became the familiar form of Captain Jack Harkness, making Rose blush even further. "Is this form suitable?"

"Sure," Rose decided. "Should I put the frog in something?"

"Use this needle," fake Jack said as a needle appeared on the ground in front of her, on top of the net. "It will extract the blood that the Doctor needs, and extra for safety. There will be no pain to the frog."

Rose nodded, "Thanks. This is perfect. Now I guess it's time to go frog catching."

Fake Jack continued staring at her. "Good luck, Bad Wolf."

"I love Rose," the Doctor said, as if that was a normal conversation to have with his lover's mother. "A lot."

"I know," Jackie replied. She almost preferred the Doctor who was in complete denial of his feelings for her daughter. Almost.

He sat down on her couch once again and laid down, his head on the arm of the chair and his hands folded underneath his head. "She is taking a while with her jacket. Maybe I should go out there."

"She'll be fine," Jackie assured him quickly. "Maybe she would love you more if you gave her some space?"

The Doctor shrugged, "I already know my Rose loves me."

"Oh yeah?" Jackie asked, bemused. "How do you know that?"

"Well," he began, sitting up excitedly. This was obviously his favorite topic of conversation. "She always smiles when I enter the room and laughs at my jokes even if they're bad. She listens to my really, really long rambles and pretends that she is really interested even though I know deep down she's not catching a word of what I'm saying. She's always curious about my language and Circular Gallifreyan and everything about me. She likes my hair a lot, I see her staring at it a lot. And - "

"I think I've got the point," Jackie interrupted.

"One more thing," he promised her. "I know she loves me because even though I was a mess when we first met since I eradicated my entire race to end a war, she made me better and didn't call me a murderer."

Jackie sniffled and stared at him, getting emotional at the sight of his innocent eyes, lacking the burden that he usually carried. Were these really the Doctor's thoughts? Thoughts that he had never spoken? "Doctor," Jackie began, sitting next to him on the couch. "Before you were bitten by that fly, did you think all of these things?"

"What fly?" the Doctor replied simply, looking around the room. "Rose is taking too long with her jacket."

Jackie panicked internally as the Doctor stood up, so she pulled out her mobile. "Rose just texted me saying she went to get chips to bring back, too. She'll be a bit longer."

"Should I go with her?" he asked curiously.

"She'll be back soon," Jackie assured him. "There's no need."

He seemed upset by her answer, but sat back down on the couch anyways. "Can you make me tea?" he asked hopefully.

Jackie nodded politely and stood up, walking to the kitchen. There was companionable silence for a short few minutes, until the Doctor spoke.

"Jackie..." the Doctor asked, wiggling around on the couch.

"Hmm?" Jackie replied, half paying attention while making tea.

His voice was instantly serious. "Can I have your blessing?"

"Blessing for what?"

"Marriage, of course. To Rose," he said with a grin and hopeful doe eyes.

Jackie almost dropped the cup of tea she was holding, and she approached the couch, handing him the cup. "Marriage? To my daughter?"

He cocked his head to the side. "You sound surprised. We're in love. We've been in love since forever. Well, I've been in love with her since I met her. I'm not sure how long she's been in love with me. I'll have to ask that, sometime. Anyways, I was thinking since she's human she might like a normal ceremony. Back on my planet, we called it bonding. We would have sex - which was a rare thing to do on Gallifrey, mind you - then there was this whole - "

"Doctor, Doctor, slow down," Jackie said gently, sitting on the couch and resting her hands on his. "Listen, you're infected by a bug, you don't know what you're saying - "

"Why do you and Rose KEEP SAYING THAT?" His voice grew into an angry yell and he put his tea on the coffee table. "I'm not infected by some stupid bug, I'm perfectly fine."

Jackie blinked in surprise at his sudden outburst of rage. She realized that he really, truly, believed he was meant to be saying all of these things. Somehow, she could understand his frustration with her. If he truly believed he was asking Jackie for her permission to marry Rose, of course he would be offended by her telling him he didn't mean it.

"Listen, sweetheart, I'm not sure Rose is quite ready for marriage," Jackie said, and it was the honest truth. "I don't know exactly how it worked on Callifruit - "

"Gallifrey."

"I don't know how it worked on Gallifrey," she corrected herself, "but here on Earth it's normal to be together for a longer time before getting married. Do you understand?"

He nodded slowly. "So we should wait a bit, you think? I should wait before proposing?"

She smiled. "I'd say, in a week, if you still want to marry my daughter, you have my full, complete approval."

The Doctor seemed pretty content with that.
