A/N: Omg! Over three hundred reviews? Is this real life? :o Haha anyways thanks to everyone who reviewed! I got a ton of good and interesting guesses for what's going on with the Doctor. Gotta say, the closest guesses probably go to ImAliAndImFabulous0218 and Brina440. :) Although this story is starting to reach the end, it's most definitely not over yet.
Rose could only hope and pray that the Doctor's sudden migraine was the Cupid Fly infection leaving his system. That's certainly what it seemed like, it was as if his mind was at war with himself. He was murmuring a stream of nothingness, little syllables and occasionally words that didn't fit together in any way shape or form. Sometimes, he would say words with melodic symbols that she presumed must be his natural language. Rose just sat and stroked his hair, unsure if there was anything else she could do to help her Time Lord. She was somewhat sure that the TARDIS would tell her if there was anything she could do, and the TARDIS was more silent than ever right now.
Maybe it was their mental connection. The ship could probably feel his pain, assuming he was in pain.
"Rose," he groaned eventually, eyes opening for the first time in a while. The Doctor sat up and rubbed at his head, eyes closing once more tightly.
When he tried to stand, he almost fell down immediately. "Doctor!" Rose shouted worriedly as she caught his arm to prevent him from tumbling to the ground. She pushed him back onto the medical bed and leaned in close, searching his eyes.
He was most definitely not cured. He didn't have to do a single thing or say a single word for Rose to be able to tell that. His eyes were full of what could only be described as pure lust and he looked at her as if he was the answer to any question he could ever have. The look made her heart beat embarrassingly fast and she backed away a step, realizing that she had been in optimum kissing position. The Doctor stood up (successfully, this time) and his eyes flickered around the room in a confused state. "Rose?" he asked gently, eventually returning his attention to her.
"Doctor, lay back down on the bed," Rose said in the most commanding tone she could muster. The Doctor looking confused was a very rare sight, and it was most definitely not a good thing. Something was very, very wrong. "Something's wrong in your head."
"Nothing's wrong in my head," he confirmed, taking a step towards her. A small smile graced his lips, but it wasn't a happy one. In fact, she didn't quite know what it was. Besides scary. It was most definitely scary.
She let out a sigh, composing herself. "Please just lay down on the bed, Doctor. You're scaring me."
Those last three words seemed to put a minuscule amount of sense into his big brain and his intense gaze faltered. For just a moment, she saw the real Doctor cracking through. He licked his lips and stared down at hers.
Rose bit her bottom lip worriedly, but that seemed to only capture his attention further. "Doctor, you had a bad headache and had to take blue pills. What do the blue pills do? Tell me what the blue pills do."
It was as if he didn't hear her. When he took another step towards her she backed towards the wall. Rose would have hit it hard on her back if not for his hand snaking around behind it, comforting the blow. He stared down at her, the Cupid Fly once again having taken control of his body. It was strange, how well she had taken this entire situation. Up until now. Now, she wanted to cry. She wanted to go and see her Mum again, too. He kept one of his hands behind her back and splayed the other on the wall above her head. He moved in for a kiss, at which she quickly ducked to the side to avoid.
Rose almost couldn't handle the look of rejection that passed his features. She hoped he knew, after this was all over, that it wasn't him she was rejecting. If he wanted to kiss her like that when he was in his right mind, he would be completely welcomed. "Doctor, you're not thinking straight. Please, listen to me."
He didn't. The Time Lord stared at her like a lion looking at a gazelle. "Rose, I know you want this," was his simple reply as a mischievous smirk grew on his lips. "You've wanted it since you met me, haven't you? I could smell it, you know. From day one. All those..." He made a point of smelling the air, and somehow he made even that strange act sexy. "Human hormones. Floating about, I could hardly control myself at first. Had to train and train my body... The last one didn't have that much of a sex drive... So it wasn't too difficult. But this body, Rose..."
She didn't realize how close he was until she could feel his breath hot on her right ear. Rose closed her eyes unwillingly, trying to make her body feel less affected than it did. It was a useless attempt. He continued after a brief pause, "It was made for you."
Rose snapped back to her senses and backed away from him. "Doctor, I know, I want you, but I can't. Not when you're like this. Do you understand? Please, please, just understand."
She was starting to become scared of him. She knew that deep down he would never hurt her or do anything to her without her permission. But even that belief was starting to fade... Her faith in him was crumbling piece by piece. What if she could never cure him? God, she was so useless. If she had just gotten that stupid frog... He shook his head in confusion. He spoke. "There's nothing wrong with me. I'm not like anything, Rose. I'm just your Doctor."
"But there is!" Rose said insistently, sitting down on the medical bed and burying her face in her hands so he wouldn't see her cry. "There's everything wrong with you and I don't know how to fix it and I can't stand it, Doctor! I just can't! I want you back! I just want you back!"
All she felt was a hand wrap around her shoulder comfortingly. Not quite caring that it wasn't really the Doctor in his right mind, she buried her head into his shoulder and shook with sobs. She felt like a child for crying so incessantly even though she hadn't been harmed in any way (apart from mentally), but after handling this situation so well for a long time she felt like she deserved a good cry.
When the Doctor pulled away to look at her, she saw his gaze fixate on the tear on her cheek and her puffy red eyes. He blinked once, then twice, then three times. His mouth opened as if he was going to say something, then closed as if he had thought better of it. His eyebrows furrowed together and he let out a heavy sigh, slowly moving one of his hands to his temples and rubbing it awkwardly while keeping eye contact with her.
Rose sniffled. "Doctor?"
He wiped away one of her tears with his thumb. "Rose," he breathed out in a voice that wasn't lust-ridden. It was him. Truly him, her Doctor.
"What's going on?" she asked, not really caring how he had reverted to himself, but knowing it was probably momentary.
"It's you, Rose... The fly, the bite..." He let out a strangled cough and continued, every word said in a way that told Rose it was obviously incredibly painful for him to speak.
She shook her head. "What do you mean?"
"You... Rose..." his eyes lolled back in his head and he coughed again, this time less violently.
"Spit it out, Doctor!"
His eyes met hers. "Primal... Instinct... Gotta keep you safe... Overrides the bite..."
Well, she certainly hadn't expected that.
A/N: I had a kinda bad day today so some nice reviews would be appreciated! ^.^ Also, I did decide that I'm going to have smut in this story (it'd be kind of a crime not to). I'll be posting the MA (adult) rated chapters on my Tumblr when the time comes around and will keep the chapters here M rated only. :) Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
