A/N: If I could get four hundred reviews with this chapter or the next I would probably like die. You all are so incredible and just remember that literally twenty seconds of your day can make my entire week with a kind review. 3 I love you all.
Primal instinct. What the hell was that supposed to mean?
That was the issue with the Doctor. When it came to serious things he always had to be so vague - so convinced that he could handle everything himself. Sometimes he just couldn't get it into his thick skull that she could be useful, too. She had saved him countless times, and he had saved her. This was a partnership.
She was sure he recognized that deep down, but evidently his 'primal instinct' as he had so blatantly put it was to keep her safe. What did that even mean? He only snapped back into reality when she was endangered or crying or sad or hurt? That was sure what it had seemed like. His mind had gone bonkers when she had almost died and he had been worried about her. And again, when she had been crying, he had passed out. Which was basically where he was now.
Now, she was afraid to leave him. Who knew what permanent damage this could be doing to his mind?
He leaned into her hand when she ran her fingers through his soft brown locks and she smiled when she heard him hum quietly in pleasure. The great Oncoming Storm, the destroyer of worlds, the last of the Time Lords - reduced to the tendencies of a cat. How awfully ironic
Then, suddenly, there was a flicker in front of her. Just for a moment. Something brown.
"Hello?" Rose said awkwardly, looking around the room for a sign of what that had just been. Maybe she was starting to hallucinate. That would only made this day weirder.
"Rose?" came the Doctor's voice from nowhere. Rose looked down at his head in her lap and frowned when she realized he hadn't said it.
"Doctor? Where are you? Doctor?" Rose asked, resting the Doctor's head on the pillow and standing up.
She heard him make a noise of frustration. "Can you come to the console room? The connection is strongest in there. It would be easier."
Rose hurried to the console room, blinking several times when she saw a colored, obviously-hologramed Doctor standing in front of her. He wiggled his fingers and waved. "Hello!"
She frowned. "How are you here? Is this an emergency protocol thing again?"
He shook his head. "Nope! My mental connection to the TARDIS allowed me to make this connection. This is my brain speaking to you live. Fancy, isn't it? Only took on this form because I needed some sort of form." He looked down at his body appreciatively. "A little blurry. Not too bad, though."
Rose rolled her eyes. "How long will this last?"
The Doctor looked down at his wrist even though there was no clock there. "About two minutes. Right! Better cut to the chase. Rose, you need to cure me from that bloody Cupid Fly."
"I've kind of got that much. Should I go get the frog?"
His eyes darkened. "Too dangerous."
"There's no other way," she pointed out, not wanting his stupid primal instincts to stop himself getting cured. "I could go do it right now while you're... While he's... Um..."
"It's me," he said helpfully.
"While you're sleeping," Rose finished confidently.
He shook his head. "Not a good idea. The frog can hardly be caught, anyways. You may have to have sex with me."
Rose sputtered on her next few words. "I what?"
The Doctor blushed ferociously, if holograms could blush, anyways. "Look, it's like I said before I fell unconscious because of the bite. The only way I become sane is through primal instinct. And, well... I have two primal instincts with you currently. There is you being in danger - which, of course, is not an option," he said pointedly, giving her a look that let her know he meant what he said. "And, I assume you've guessed my other primal instinct with you by now. My bitten self has made it a tad bit obvious."
"Sex? With you? Seriously?"
The Time Lord looked somewhat offended. "What's a shag between mates, right? Besides, like I said, unless you want to go jump off a cliff like Bella Swan, this is the only option. But keep in mind that I don't want to force you into this, Rose. Okay? You could always just wait out the remainder of the bite."
"The remainder?" Rose asked. "How long would it take to go away?"
He rubbed the back of his neck thoughtfully and his voice raised an octave. "Well... About twenty nine years. Give or take a couple of years. But you could just wait at Jackie's and I could return to you in a matter of three days your time. It would be twenty nine years my time, but at least you wouldn't have to wait. That's option number two. Option number three is you go back out and find the frog which would most likely be impossible since Tyribonian frogs are cheeky little buggers. Which case will you take, Rose Tyler?"
The Doctor looked nervous, a rare sight. The tips of his ears were pink and he was either tugging on his ear, running a hand through his hair, or rubbing his neck about every ten seconds. Rose frowned. This was an awkward position. It wasn't as if she didn't want to have sex with the Doctor... God, she did. That was honestly the main issue. What if after all of this was over it meant nothing to him? How would she ever be able to get that out of her mind?
But it will save his life, a small voice reminded her.
"Er, Rose, I don't mean to rush you, but we have about two minutes left of this connection."
She rolled her eyes. "Well if the frog is as impossible as you say, then there's no point in that option." She thought she heard him let out a sigh of relief at that statement. "And there's no way I'm leaving you for twenty-nine years like this. I don't even think that's possible, honestly." He opened his mouth to protest, but she continued speaking before he could. "I'll take your first option, Doctor."
He frowned. "Are you one hundred percent sure? I don't want to force you into anything, Rose. I can guarantee you I don't mind, if it makes you feel better. I consent one hundred percent."
Rose nodded. "It's like you said. What's a shag between mates? It's no big deal, really. It had just better work."
The Doctor grinned. "It will work. Trust me."
God, she did trust him. She trusted him more than anyone else in the universe. And looking at him right now, even if she couldn't really touch him, there was nothing in the world she wanted more than to have him by her side again. Fully sane, of course.
"Anyways," the Doctor broke the silence. "I'll probably be waking up in about twenty nine seconds. I won't remember any of this, of course. Remember, Rose, one hundred percent consent. Don't worry about me in the slightest. Just enjoy it, okay?" Rose nodded awkwardly, not sure what he meant by that last statement. "Oh, and Rose, one last thing! One thing you absolutely must know, yeah? Just remember-"
The hologram shut off.
"Doctor? Doctor what do I have to remember? What do I have to know?"
She heard footsteps from down the hall. Rose spun around on her heels and saw him standing there. Not a hologram. The real him. The Cupid Fly infected him. "Rose," he said, a grin breaking out on his face.
A/N: So if you couldn't guess, the next chapter's MA version with smut will be posted on my Tumblr, but a short M version will be posted here for those who would prefer that. Also, a few people messaged me with the concern that they wouldn't be able to read it. I'd just like to point out that you don't need an account of any sort to view my Tumblr! Hope you enjoyed this chapter! You should totally be an awesome person and leave me a review telling me what you think.
