To say I was surprised would be a gross understatement.

"Mokuba. What are you talking about? I can't kill anyone."

The silence was uncomfortable. Mokuba seemed to be completely un-phased by the thought of the death of his beloved brother.

"I need you to kill him. He's not my brother."

Visions of Mokuba's laughing face with his 'big brother' filled my mind. This wasn't Mokuba.

But. I don't have friends. I can't afford to make any more enemies. I can just try to get out of here and try to find a new life.

"Okay, Mokuba."

The smile Mokuba gave me made my stomach flip. The fun-loving child was gone, and this serious cynical 'grown-up' replaced him.

It had been long since I had started living here, but the change in character was absolutely astounding to me.

Mokuba turned and walked to the door, "I'll get everything ready"

I turned away and muffled a sob, but just before I heard a soft whisper before the closing of my jail

"Mutt."

There was a pounding in my head and the red dots around my room blurred and seemed to surround me.

Blacker… Blacker…

Black.

I woke up to the smell of broth.

Rubbing my eyes and slipping from under the covers, I walked to the tray and grabbed the bowl and messily slurped up the contents.

As Mokuba usually did, the morning newspaper was laid out on the tray.

I sighed. How many days will it be now?

Grabbing the paper and picking it up, I felt something slip from in between the folds of the paper and land next to me.

I looked down; it was a gun. Mokuba left me a black pistol.

I bent over to pick it up and felt as if hundreds of eyes were staring at me. Calm down, Joey. Calm down. Just put it down and read the paper.

The paper's date; I completely forgot to check it.

One look and the white drained from my face.

The date was December 25 of the same year I arrived.

"Confused, mutt?"

Ice rushed through my veins. I spun around to see none other than Kaiba standing in the corner of the room.

"K-Kaiba?" I shuddered.

He scoffed, "Don't look so surprised to see me. This is my house remember?"

"You bastard. Get the hell away from me!" I shouted.

Kaiba looked surprised. Genuinely surprised. "What? I've been away for two days and this is the welcome I get? You think you run the house I'm graciously letting you stay in? What kind of misbehaved mongrel are you?"

It was like nothing had happened.

I growled and reached for the pistol and pointed it right at Kaiba, "You've ruined my life! Mokuba was right. I have to kill you!"

Kaiba backed up slowly to the wall. I had him. This was it.

"Joey. What are you doing?" His voice seemed so calm. So confused. Disappointed?

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, and I snapped out of my sympathetic thoughts.

"Mokuba! Come in! I'm going to kill him!"

The door opened slowly to reveal the head scientist; the one who injected me when I started living here. He was wearing an evil smirk and had both hands in his pockets.

"Good boy, Joey. Now, kill him."
