(Battle Music Cue: The Game Has Changed – Tron Legacy)
Sora stood with Oathkeeper and Oblivion in hand while staring down Rinzler who stood with two discs in hand, ready to strike. As they stared at one another, Sora spotted something near Rinzler's neck that looked familiar: four red squares arranged in a T shape. After a moment of silent staring, the audience still chanting Rinzler's name Rinzler finally made his move, throwing one of the discs at Sora who deflected it up into the air before charging at him, firing off a Blizzaga but Rinzler cut right through the large wedge of ice with his other disc, the other disc flying in, missing Sora, but landing in Rinzler's hand. The two began swinging at each other while nimbly dodging the other's attacks. Sora would swing at him but Rinzer would dodge before coming back around and attacking only for Sora to dodge. This went on for a brief period until Sora deliberately dropped Oathkeeper and grabbed Rinzler's wrist just after an attempted swing. Rinzler struggled to break free but Sora tripped him up, letting his hand slide down and grab hold of Rinzler's disc. Now Sora held Oblivion and one of the discs and leapt back as the disc's red coloring turned white. Rinzler glared at Sora, an audible but feral growl escaping him as he reached for Oathkeeper on the ground but as he picked it up, the Keyblade vanished in a flash of light. Sora dismissed Oblivion and summoned Kingdom Key in its place. Sora looked at the disc in his hand curiously.
"I knew someone who used to use something just like this. His name was Tron and he fought for the users!" Sora said, holding the disc in front of him.
"I fight for the users!" he heard a garbled and distorted voice say from somewhere. Sora started looking for the source of the voice but quickly had to turn and defend himself as Rinzler ran in with an attack, landing next to Sora and ducking a swing before delivering a hard blow to Sora's arm with his empty fist, causing Sora to let out a pained grunt and drop the disc in his hand. Rinzler picked up the disc, its coloring remaining white for a moment, causing Rinzler to shake his head as if shaking himself awake, the disc finally turning red again. Sora recovered from the attack just in time for Rinzler to drive both discs into the floor, shattering a large hexagonal tile beneath Sora's feet and causing the Keyblade Master to start hanging off the edge of the hole. The crowd was cheering and chanting "DE-REZ" repeatedly. Rinzler coupled his two discs together and reared back for an attack, Sora glaring up at him defiantly but unable to do anything more than watch and hold on for his life…at least that's what Rinzler and the rest of the audience thought.
"Xion!" Sora exclaimed. Suddenly the Two Become One Keyblade appeared floating in the air behind his head, pointed at Rinzler before firing off a Thundaga, disorienting the program and allowing Sora to climb out of the hole, the Keyblade vanishing almost instantly. Sora summoned Kingdom Key back to his hand as he rose to his feet. Rinzler growled at Sora for a moment before spinning around and throwing his disc at the back wall, causing it to ricochet off the walls, bouncing at a wild angle, splitting in to two discs that went in opposite directions. Sora quickly ducked one disk and deflected another, the discs still going as Rinzler ran in and started throwing punches and kicks at Sora who was forced to dodge the attacks. Sora could tell the other two discs were flying at him from behind and quickly cast an Aeroga at point blank at Rinzler's chest, blowing Rinzler away to the back wall before spinning around and catching both discs in midair before they could intersect at Sora's throat. The discs both turned white the moment they touched Sora's hand. Sora took a moment to take a quick breath of relief, Rinzler still stunned and disoriented from Sora's previous attack.
"Flynn!" Sora heard a voice that sounded like Flynn's echo from within one of the discs. Sora looked at the disc in his left hand curiously, the disc glowing white but with a red inner ring. The voice continued…
"Am I still to create the perfect system?" the voice asked.
"Yeah." Sora heard the other disc reply. This disc had only white coloring.
"Go." The white disc said but this voice was familiar to Sora.
"Tron?" Sora asked curiously. Sora quickly put both discs together into one, holding it horizontally and causing a small screen to appear showing what appeared to be an empty intersection in the middle of a the city where a younger Flynn and an advanced looking Tron were walking through the intersection when they heard what sounded like Flynn's voice call to them…
"Flynn!" At this, Sora saw the source of the voice: Clu. Flynn and Tron both came to a stop in the intersection to look at Clu.
"Am I still to create the perfect system?!" Clu asked.
"Yeah." Flynn replied. Instantly Clu's helmet activated as four black and red programs emerged from the shadows around them.
"Go." Tron ordered Flynn as he activated his disc. What followed was a blur as Tron deftly defeated all four of the programs, derezzing them and stealing one of their discs before turning to aid Flynn who had been cornered by Clu, tackling Clu to the ground.
"Flynn, go!" Tron shouted as he struggled with Clu, Flynn fearfully turning and running. Sora was engrossed by the footage and didn't notice as Rinzler climbed up onto his feet, glaring at Sora from beneath his helmet, calmly beginning to approach the distracted Sora. On the screen, Sora saw Clu struggling with Tron for a moment before he saw Clu suddenly gain the upper hand and in an instant the screen turned red, then showing the four blue squares of Tron's logo turning red. That's when Sora's eyes widened in realization.
"Tron." He whispered just as Rinzler pulled a small staff from his back and was about to run Sora through from behind when the entire arena capsule they were in suddenly shattered. (Battle Music Cue: Fall – Tron Legacy) In his arena box, Clu suddenly sat forward on his chair as Rinzler and Sora tumbled towards the ground. Rinzler quickly activated a device that caused four red insect-like wings that acted as a parachute. During the fall, Sora lost hold of the disc as he reached for the light cycle rod on his belt, quickly activating it beneath him and landing hard on the grid surface below.
"What just happened?!" one of Clu's programs asked in confusion as Clu sat back in his seat, watching as a large gate appeared at one end of the arena, directly in Sora's path. The gate was forming itself in the stands and had clearly never been there before. Clu scowled angrily at the sight.
"Flynn." He replied softly as he watched Rinzler land on the arena ground, activating his own red light cycle, picking up his dropped disc as he chased after Sora, the disc turning red again. Clu glared at the top of the stand entrance and saw the hooded Flynn on one knee, his hand pressed to the floor. Around him the programs either fled or dropped to their knees in prayer, worshiping their creator. As Sora drew near the gate, Flynn quickly ran forward and leapt off into the arena, landing on Sora's light cycle behind the Keyblade Master as they flew through the gate, the gate suddenly disappearing behind them, forcing Rinzler to leap from his bike using the wings, the light cycle crashing into the wall and exploding in orange and black pixels. Clu scowled at the turn of events as one of his programs approached him.
"Sir, the prize has been stolen!" the program reported as Clu glared at the program for a moment, anger clear on his face before suddenly killing the program with his disc in frustration. (End Battle Music.)
Meanwhile…
Sora and Flynn came to a stop in an alleyway near Flynn's Arcade, Sora's Light cycle deactivating beneath them. Sora immediately spun around towards Flynn.
"Tron isn't dead is he?!" Sora asked, Flynn shaking his head in sadness.
"No but he might as well be. For a long time I thought Clu had killed Tron but instead, he turned him into Rinzler. He indoctrinated him to his side and is now his chief lieutenant." Flynn replied.
"Why didn't you tell me that in the first place?! I know Tron, I could've helped him!" Sora exclaimed but Flynn sighed heavily.
"Kid, the Tron you know…did you find him on a system owned by a man named Ansem the Wise?" Flynn asked as Sora arched a curious eyebrow.
"Yeah, how do you-…" Sora asked.
"Years ago, I worked with Ansem the Wise to help with his computer hardware and software. I gave him a copy of Tron as a precaution should the MCP go rogue on his computer like it did mine shortly before that. The Tron you met on Ansem's computer was a copy of the original before I upgraded him and before he was indoctrinated by Clu. Rinzler won't recognize you and even if you were able to restore Tron, he won't know you or remember you." Flynn explained but Sora was undeterred.
"Then I'll help you bring back your Tron. You can come with me and help me stop Clu from the outside. I don't know much about computers but I know deleting a program is easy from the outside. In here it's hard." Sora said but Flynn shook his head.
"You've got your own mission, Sora. I feel like we met before once in a weird and crazy dream. You've got your goals and I have mine. Besides, didn't you say that there were others that knew I was here now?" Flynn asked as Sora nodded.
"Yeah, two friends of mine were there when I got zapped into the computer. I don't think they got zapped with me but I imagine they know I'm in here so they know there's something here." Sora explained as Flynn smiled.
"That's all that matters to me right now." Flynn said as he looked around, his smile getting more and more concerned.
"What's the matter?" Sora asked.
"Quorra was supposed to meet us here and she hasn't arrived yet. Something's wrong." Flynn said as they peered out of the alleyway towards the arena. (Battle Music Cue: Disc Wars – Tron Legacy)
"You don't think she-…" Sora said but Flynn motioned to wait. Then they heard it, the sound of a vehicle fast approaching. They suddenly saw Quorra's Light Cycle come flying out from around one of the buildings, a white package seated behind the ISO.
"There she is." Sora said but blinked in shock when they saw three additional light cycles round the corner behind her, the three cycles all with the red colorings.
"Time to go!" Flynn exclaimed as he hurried to the door to the arcade, placing his hand on the doors, causing them to glow with blue light.
"What are you doing?!" Sora asked as Quorra got closer. Suddenly a large wall burst up from the ground behind Quorra, causing the three cycles behind her to crash into the wall.
"Run, Sora! We'll keep them busy!" Flynn ordered as they looked up towards the Arena and saw a swarm of Recognizers flying towards them.
"What about you?!" Sora asked as Quorra came to a stop nearby, throwing the package to Sora.
"It's like you said, kid! Others will come for us! Take what you came for and go! We'll be fine!" Flynn said as the doors to the arcade opened, revealing an infinite white inside, a pillar of energy shooting straight up into the air. Flynn proceeded to snatch the light cycle off of Sora's belt and activate it before he and Quorra raced away down the streets just as the wall that had arisen to stop the other cycles exploded, revealing a large tank behind it. Sora's eyes widened before he turned and ran into the arcade, the doors slamming shut behind him as a bright sphere of light shot up the pillar of light towards the sky. (End Music)
In the Real World…
Vincent was standing off to the side in Flynn's secret office, standing guard, when he heard the machinery start up on its own. He suddenly saw the beam activate, depositing Sora back where he had been standing but holding Namine's dress and a USB Flash Drive in his hands.
"Sora? Are you alright?" Vincent asked as Sora rubbed his eyes.
"Yeah but we have to keep this computer on! Flynn's in there and he needs help!" Sora explained quickly. Vincent gave a nod.
"Okay, but we have a bigger problem. Nixe's gone missing." Vincent said, causing Sora to pause.
"What? When?! How?!" Sora asked, worriedly.
"She learned to summon her Keyblade Glider and left. We don't know where she is." Vincent said as Sora turned and headed for the door, Vincent following after him. Sora noticed the flash drive in his hand and realized immediately what it was.
"I need to see the Professor first. Maybe he can tell me what this is." Sora said as they left the arcade.
…
They soon arrived in Professor Von Drake's lab under the mansion and the Professor had plugged in the flash drive.
"And you say Flynn gave this to you himself?" Von Drake asked as Sora nodded.
"Yes. It's the results of the scans I think." Sora said as Von Drake opened the drive folder and found only a simple text file with an array of numbers.
"What is that?" Vincent asked.
"Is it code?" Sora asked, confused.
"No, it's longitude and latitude!" Von Drake replied, opening up a digital map of several worlds. The majority of the worlds were greyed out, indicating that they had fallen into Darkness. Most of the surviving worlds had question marks on them indicating unknown status while Sublime City, a world known as Steadfast Stadium, and two or three others were marked with blue. There was one world marked with a white and a Nobody icon.
"What is this?" Sora asked as he marveled at the map.
"It's a map of the worlds. The longitude and latitude in the flash drive is pointed directly at this world here." Prof. Von Drake explained as he pointed to a world marked with a question mark.
"What about this world here? The one with the Nobody symbol?" Sora asked.
"That is the Palace of Eternity, the headquarters of the Sisterhood of Seven. It's well defended; you wouldn't stand a chance on your own." Vincent explained.
"It's likely that your friend is there." Von Drake added. Sora nodded in agreement.
"Probably but I think there's a reason I'm being pointed to this other world. I best investigate it first. Plus I need to find Nixe and Namine and maybe there's a clue as to either of their whereabouts in that world." Sora said as he folded up Namine's dress and handed it to the Professor.
"Can you take care of this for me?" Sora asked as the Professor nodded.
"I'll even give it a good washing." The Professor said as Sora smiled appreciatively and turned to leave. Soon Sora had emerged into the ballroom of the mansion, Forte sitting in his permanent spot.
"Why are you in such a hurry Master Sora?" Forte asked as Sora slid to a halt.
"I need to find Nixe, she's gone missing and I need to help find-…uh. Hang on a second." Sora said, as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his lucky charm.
"Aqua?" He asked, finding himself within the infinite white of the D-Link.
"Sora! I'm glad I caught you! Nixe's missing!" Aqua said as Sora gave a nod.
"Yeah I know, but I think I have a lead that might lead to either hers or Namine's location." Sora said as Aqua nodded.
"Good. Be careful out there Sora." Aqua said.
"I will, Aqua. You and Si'Lea be careful as well." Sora said, severing the link. He then quickly pocketed the charm and looked up at Forte.
"Sorry about that but I need to run! No time to explain!" Sora called as he ran out towards the front doors. Forte merely leaned back against the wall with a dark sneer.
"Hmm, all four Keyblade wielders: absent. How interesting." Forte chuckled darkly as he heard the front doors slam shut.
End Chapter 19.
Different worlds will be revisited throughout the story so don't worry, we'll see the Tron Legacy world again along with Jungle Book and others.
