Infinity and Beyond
-Chapter 8-
Part One
Mommy's driving a motorcycle and I'm sitting in the back. I'm really scared as I hug mommy from behind as tightly as I can. I feel as if I might start crying a little.
When mommy finally stops the motorcycle beside a house, she steps off the motorcycle and takes off her helmet before helping me take off mine too.
"Mommy..." I sniffle and whimper tearfully as I put my arms up toward her before she picks me up. "I don't like this thing. It's scary!"
"Shh..." Mommy rubs my head lightly. "I promise I will go slower when we go home." She kisses my cheek before taking out a silvery handgun quietly and running into the house with me still in her arms.
I gasp loudly when we get to the kitchen. A blonde woman is laying on the kitchen floor. Her eyes are wide open, but she's not moving and she's bleeding a lot. 'Anna Harcourt. She's dead.'
I'm scared as I wrap my arms around mommy and start crying a little. "Mommy..."
"Shh... Close your eyes, sweetie." Mommy whispers in my ear. I nod before squeezing my tearful, almond-shaped dark brown eyes shut.
I hear a quiet whining sound, but I don't open my eyes. Just then, there's the loud sound of a car driving away. 'Division.' I feel mommy running a little, but I don't open my eyes.
After a moment, I feel mommy crouch down to touch something. "Look, sweetie." Mommy's words makes me open my eyes. "It's a little dog."
Laying beside the blonde woman, is a little black dog. 'His name is Yoshi.'
"You want to play with him?" Mommy smiles at me nicely. I sniffle as I reach out a hand to touch the furry doggie, but I quickly cry and yelp when I see the pool of blood beside the blonde woman and Yoshi.
I quickly shrink back and my hands grab onto mommy's jacket tightly. "Mommy, take me home." I cry a little louder. "Please... I'm scared..."
"I know, honey." Mommy says quietly as she kisses my forehead and picks Yoshi up too. "Let's go home..."

Alex: Intel on target was solid.
Mommy: I know. I wasn't fast enough. It doesn't make sense. They made it look like a home invasion. No questions asked.
Alex: Call the police. Have them ask.
Mommy: No, Division doesn't know that I'm involved yet, I want to use that against them.
I'm sitting on the floor, playing with Yoshi. I tilt my head up at mommy as she's looking at a white card that's tied to a black string. "Mommy, what is that?"
"Something that belonged to the woman we had just seen." Mommy murmurs to me quietly before putting the card down and walking over to me to pick me up. "Come on, honey, let's go take a bath..."
88888
Mommy and I are sitting on her bed after we finished taking a bath. Mommy's brushing my curly dark brown hair. "Which story do you want to hear tonight?"
"I like everything mommy reads to me." I say happily before mommy puts the hair brush down and quickly hugs me. I lay down on the bed with a smile. "Mommy lay down too?"
"I love you." Mommy smiles warmly as she lays down next to me before giving me lots and lots of kisses all over my body, making me giggle.
"I love mommy too." I wrap my arms around her in a hug. Mommy hugs me back and she hums softly to me until I fall asleep...

Mommy takes me to a food place where the table is very long and high. 'Liquor bar. Liquor: an alcoholic beverage.'
"You make a mojito?" Mommy asks the man on the other side of the very long table. 'Bartender, his name is Oliver.'
Oliver's eyes look down at me before raising an eyebrow at mommy. "I'm sorry, ma'am." He says to mommy. "But this bar has an age restriction."
"Relax." Mommy rolls her eyes before smiling a little. "I'm here for work. She's my daughter. I won't let her touch the mojito. Just get her some apple juice."
I wrinkle my straight nose. Mojito sounds icky, like medicine. "Mojito's a tough order for a dive." Oliver says before smiling. "Lucky you found a star bartender. It'll take a sec."
"Good." Mommy says before putting a black rectangular booklet-like thing on the table. 'ID / badge.' "We can talk while you work."
Oliver looks down at the badge while pouring me a glass of apple juice. "Justice Department?" He says before looking at me with a smile. "Here you go." He says to me as he puts the apple juice in front of me.
"Thank you." I smile back at him before taking the glass with my hands. Mommy puts a hand on top of mine as she helps me hold the glass while I drink the apple juice.
"We're doing background checks on some of our employees." Mommy tells Oliver. "Your girlfriend, Anna."
"Ex-girlfriend." Oliver says with a sigh before giving mommy her drink too. "She in trouble?"
"Like I said, just doing background checks." Mommy says. "Pretty standard, for anyone who's applying for this level of clearence."
"Well, you probably know more than me." Oliver says unhappily. "Don't know much about her background. We broke up before I can meet her folks."
"How long were you guys together?" Mommy asks.
"Five months, two weeks, three days." Oliver's answer makes me want to giggle.
"How many hours and seconds?" Mommy sounds as if she finds his answer funny too.
"Actually, it was probably around 11:00 PM." Oliver laughs a little before saying. "When my shift started, she teased me about my tats, I teased her about her power suit. We just hit it off."
"So why'd you guys break up?" Mommy frowns.
"Her job." Oliver says. "She was always stressed about it. The last time I saw her was about a week ago. She came by, I could tell she'd been crying, said she'd something she needed to tell me. I told her that she had something she needed to tell me since we met. Just say it already. But, she couldn't, said that I wouldn't understand. And then I said something back, and she just left..."
"That's it?" Mommy sounds as if she doesn't really believe everything Oliver's saying. "Really?"
"She was upset." Oliver sighs unhappily. "So, I followed her, figured she'd head home, but she went downtown instead. I watched her walk into one of those private clubs near Capitol Hill, way above her pay grade."
"So there was someone else." Mommy nods quietly. "You ever confronted her about it?"
Oliver shakes his head with sad anger. "She wants someone more connected, someone from the same world as her, that's fine. I just wish she would have... Told the truth."
"Do you remember the address of the club?" Mommy asks.
"The club's name is Regal House." Oliver tells mommy...
88888
Mommy'a holding me in her arms as she runs to a very big building. 'Regal House.' She takes something black out and puts it into the lock, but it doesn't look like a key. 'Lock picker: it can be used to open locked doors when the key is unavailable.'
Once the door clicks open, mommy carries me inside with a silver handgun in her hand. She closes the door behind her.
She quickly presses two buttons on a phone before carrting me upstairs with her when we hear a car coming. The front door opens again as Percy, Roan and another man walks in. 'Senator Jack Kerrigan.'
"Is anyone here?" Jack calls out loudly as mommy puts a finger on her lips, silently telling me to not make a sound. "Hello?"
"Relax, Jack." Percy tells him. "Regal house is as private as it gets. You should know that better than anyone."
Mommy quickly takes me and runs up into an empty bedroom. She picks up a phone and listens...
Vision
"I still don't know why it's necessary for us to come back here." Jack says to Percy. "You've solved the problem already."
"This isn't me and you sneaking sorority girls into the dorm anymore, Jack." Percy says. "You're a US senator now. We've to get rid of all the evidence."
"That's what my friend here does." Percy continues as he points at Roan. "You tell him which rooms you did the dirty things in, and he will clean them up."
"We uh... We usually had drinks down here, and we would move upstairs to the guest bedroom, first door on the left." Jack says, sounding as if he's embarrassed about something. 'That's this room.'
"So, the conference room and the bedroom." Percy nods. "No debriefings in the executive office."
Roan frowns when he looks down at the phone which has a little green light on, then he tilts his head up before walking away from Percy and Jack. 'Roan is coming upstairs.'
End Vision
Mommy quickly puts the phone down when she hears footsteps. She quickly picks me back up and runs out of the room.
Mommy runs into another room and hops over a sofa before crouching down behind the sofa. There's a thing on the wall that looks like a long box-like thing with long lined holes. 'Air vent.'
Mommy listens through that to Percy and Jack talking. "Any connections between you and Anna Harcourt will be erased." Percy says. "In two days, DC police will find the body. The victim of a senseless home invasion. End of story."
"I hate to be the guy that does a favor and then asks for one in return, but the new intelligence bill, the fifty five million to black budget markets, I need that to pass." Percy says.
"It's five votes short." Jack says.
"That's why we got you the chairmanship." Percy tells him. "I want you to call a meeting of all the senators in your committee, tomorrow night. Turn on the bell weight charm and convince them to vote yes."
"Well, I suppose it's the least I can do." Jack sighs.
"The very least." Percy agrees.
After that, mommy stands up and opens the window beside us before crouching back down and picking me up. "Close your eyes, sweetie." Mommy tells me quickly as she hugs me close to her. I do what she tells me to.
I feel wind blowing on my olive skin before I feel mommy make a big jump. Something in my chest is jumping really fast. 'Your heart.'
I feel really nervous as I hug mommy tightly. "You can open your eyes now, sweetie." Mommy murmurs in my ear before I open my almond-shaped dark brown eyes again. "You're getting braver." Mommy smiles at me softly before kissing my red lips. "Let's get out of here..."
88888
Mommy takes me into a big building and into an elevator. Mommy's holding my hand as we get off the elevator when the light on the upper corner of the elevator says four.
Mommy stops when she sees a place where the seats and computers are put into an almost box-like spots. Mommy picks one and sits down in front of a computer before picking me up onto her lap.
I play with the pretty necklace that's around mommy's neck as mommy's doing something on the computer. Then, mommy grabs a folder from beside the computer.
"Hey." A red-haired man smiles at mommy. "You're not Anna."
"I know." Mommy mutters.
"Am I gonna have to call security?" He raises an eyebrow, he sounds as if he might smile.
"I'm three floors up." Mommy sounds a little annoyed. "Anna's out sick, I'm just getting her files."
"She never mentioned you." He says.
"That's probably because she didn't like talking to you." Mommy murmurs as she returns to the computer.
"Hey, play nice or I'm not gonna take your number when you give it to me." He laughs.
"Chip, donuts are here." Another man calls out to him.
"You're gonna miss me when I'm gone." Chip says funnily before leaving. Mommy has a weird look on her face.
"He's a funny man, mommy." I giggle.
"Mmm-hmm." Mommy smiles softly before picking up the phone to make a phone call.
Computer mama tells me what the person on the other side is saying. 'Dr. Reed's office?'
"Hi, it's Anna Harcourt." Mommy says. Mommy's pretending to be someone else again. "Did I own you guys a call?"
'Oh hi Anna, let me get the doctor.' A moment later. 'Dr. Reed: hi, how are you feeling?'
"Fine, I think." Mommy says.
'Nausea subsided?'
"No." Mommy says.
'Well, look, it's nothing to worry about. Completely normal for the beginning of the first trimester.'
Mommy looks really surprised as I tilt my head at her. 'Uh, Anna, are you alright?'
"Yeah..." Mommy says. "Father's gonna be surprised, that's all."
'Oh, well, the results of the paternity test aren't in yet.'
Mommy hangs up the phone once she's done. She quickly picks me up as she stands up. Mommy takes a few steps forward before she sees some men in white coming out through a door.
Mommy quickly turns the other way and runs with me in her arms. She hugs me closer as we run into Chip. "Hey Chip!" Mommy smiles as she grabs a marker and writes some numbers on his hand.
"You can buy me a drink first." He smiles before asking. "Hey wait, is that permanent marker?"
"It is if you're lucky." Mommy tells him before running off with me. She grabs and puts on a pair of sunglasses and a light-colored jacket before opening a door and running down some stairs.
Mommy puts her hair up before making a call on her cell phone. '911 what's your emergency?'
"I heard my neighbor screaming. 926 Harbor Street, please send someone." Mommy says before hanging up...

"So, how do you know Anna?" A woman asks mommy as mommy and I are in Anna Harcourt's parents's home. 'Gogol: her name is Irena. Anna was a Gogol spy.' I don't really know what computer mama's saying.
"Well..." Mommy starts.
"You work with her?" The man next to the woman guesses. 'His name is Vladimir.'
"No." Mommy says.
"Then you're friends?" The woman says.
"Not exactly." Mommy murmurs quietly.
"I don't understand." The woman frowns.
"It's hard to explain." Mommy says.
"Well, maybe you should explain why you're here." The man says. "Otherwise, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
"Anna's dead." Mommy looks at them seriously.
"That's not possible." The woman's eyes widen nervously. "We haven't heard from anyone."
"I'm calling Anna now." The man says as he grabs the phone. He sounds nervous too.
"The police haven't called, nobody..." The woman sounds as if she might cry.
"Honey, she's not answering." The man murmurs to the woman nervously.
"You won't hear from the police." Mommy tells them quietly. "The people who did this are above the law."
"What does that mean, above the law?" The man frowns as he hangs up the phone.
"When did this happen?" The woman says tearfully.
"Anna was pregnant." Mommy looks at them seriously. "By a man she knew, a US senator, his name is Jack Kerrigan. He didn't want the affair to go public, so he had her killed."
The man looks very unhappily surprised as he stands up and walks around the room. "Listen, I want to help you get justice for Anna, but I need your help." Mommy says to them. "She may have had a prenatal paternity test done, if she did, DNA from the test would prove the affair."
Mommy stops talking for a moment and frowns as if something's wrong. 'All the photos in this house are identical.'
"The doctors might allow you, her parents, access to those results." Mommy continues. "But we need to hurry. The people who did this are thinking the same thing and they're probably..."
Just then, the man grabs me and throws me onto a wall, making me scream and cry just as he wraps a black string around mommy's neck, chocking her. The woman grabs onto mommy's hands.
"Mommy..." I cry. "Stop it! You're hurting my mommy!"
Mommy looks as if she's having trouble fighting back and she can't breathe. The man and woman start talking in a language that I can't understand, but computer mama tells me what they're saying.
'We've to call this in!'
'After we dump the body!'
'Just hold her still!' The man says as mommy's body shakes in a weird way.
"Mommy..." I cry harder and louder as I'm really scared and mommy's going to get hurt!
But just then, mommy knocks the man back with her head before kicking the woman onto a wall as mommy and the man falls onto a short table.
Mommy flips over and lands on her feet before continuing to fight them. But there's two of them, and mommy keeps on getting hit.
"Stop it!" I scream very loudly as the woman pushes mommy into a glass shelf, making the glass break. My cries get louder and louder. "Please..."
But mommy gets up again and the fight continues. Mommy grabs a tube-like thing and after a moment, throws her onto a very big glass table, causing her to fall along with the glass table.
But the man quickly hits mommy's head from behind with something very hard, making mommy fall onto the floor, not moving. 'Nikita's just knocked out. She will wake up in a little while.'
Something in my chest feels like a ball that's growing tighter and tighter as the man grabs mommy in a very scary way and throws her onto a chair before using handcuffs to cuff her hands onto the chair.
"Mommy..." I cry VERY hard as I crawl over beside mommy as quickly as I can. I stand up before raising my hand to rub the back of mommy's head gently. I want to make her hurt go away. Why did he have to hit her so hard...
