Chapter 17: Going fishing for a … …?

Everything was chaotic. Carlisle looked like a deer caught in a car's headlights, Jacob and the other boys were shouting at me. Everyone else was talking whether to me or someone else it didn't matter, it only made more noise.
Bella being Bella was the only one I couldn't read so I was waiting for her. But then she spoke "What do you mean you're going fishing."
"Well I take on the appearance of someone like you then go out into the forest and see who bites!" it was simple and yet no one seemed to grasp the concept. Or the fact that I just said that I was the bait not Bella.
Well that was until Carlisle finally perked up. "Wait that's your father tactic!" at that everyone stopped and looked to him. Seeing as he had their attention, plus got them to shut up, I gestured for him to continue.
"What Merana is trying to explain is simple. Bella is the bait but Merana is the one who will be on the hook." waiting for everyone to absorb it he walked over to me. "Merana will dress up in Bella's clothes even use Bella's products so she smells like Bella but Bella will not be involved what so ever. In fact it is a very clever trap in which Merana will be the bait as well as the fisherma... I mean fisherwoman." Now turning to me he adds. "I have one condition, you must bring backup. So that when you get a bite you won't be overpowered."
Shock that was the only emotion I was feeling. Though I should be upset also because he made the assumption someone could overpower me, like ever. But that didn't matter, only the fact that he was concerned about me. Not caring let alone the consequences I flung myself at him. He reacted just as I hoped, with a big hug.
"Ok I get fishing but how is what Merana is planning considered fishing?" Emmett asked completely destroying my moment.
It toke some more time and a lot more explaining but Carlisle and I finally got everyone on the same page and agreeing with us. The only problem was my backup. Jacob wanted the wolves as backup and Edward wanted to come though Bella didn't like that ideal. But after agreeing that it could wait till tomorrow it was dropped. Just in time cause Bella had to get going. Luckily though as I was able to discuss with her about the finer points; like what time her father was leaving, me using her bathroom products, and the clothes especially since there is a good chance they will be destroyed.
Yet here I am walking Bella and Edward out still discussing the finer things. Though when it came to the fact that her father and I both were both going fishing tomorrow we both broke out laughing. Edward just arched an eyebrow at us like he was some mature adult.
My response to that was a punch on his back, which had him launching forward a few steps. Bella grabbed a hold of me to keep from falling to the garage floor. I just smiled like some foolish kid that out smarted her older brother, will that is till he caught on.
And once Edward recovered from his trip he was in my face but for the fact that Bella had to go home he didn't retaliate.
Watching as Edward drove away I caught a glimpse of Jacob leaving. Waiting till Edward's car was out of view I jumped on his back.
Not knowing what was going on Jacob lashed out. Twisting so to avoid his hands, we ended up on the ground and then rolling because he was still trying to get at me. I just laughed as we tumbled through the underbrush and slammed into a tree. Will exactly Jacob slammed into the tree I had let go by then.
Standing up I suddenly felt eyes on me. Looking over my shoulder I discovered that Embry, Quil, and Paul were standing right behind me and the Cullens were watching from the house. They all had the same expression, puzzlement.
And they were right to be puzzled because I was acting a fool but as they say 'There is a method to my madness!'
Standing tall and straight I glared down at Jacob. "Now let this be an example of how your actions have consequences even if you don't mean harm." Leaning in close as I spoke I rolled on to the balls of feet then once I was done, I sprang up and over him and into the forest.
Running through the forest I couldn't help the laughter or grin that was growing on my face. Jaocb's reaction was just amazing, especially when I leapt over him. Though he tried he couldn't respond to what I said. He understood and knew exactly what I was pertaining to. That he should not have forced Bella to kiss him.
I passed the time doing this and that. I really didn't have a lot to do especially since it required Bella's presence. But I did find things to do especially for tomorrow since I knew Jared was going to show up. Tomorrow was a special day for us and I knew he would not forget.
As dawned approached Edward left Bella's room to find me waiting in the tree closet to the front of the house. He didn't say anything but just waited with me till Charlie Swan left. Then just like yesterday I was off but unlike Edward I didn't use Bella's window I used the front door. I did though end up beating Edward to Bella's room only I sat at her desk.
Bella on the other hand was in the bathroom having her human moment, unknowing that her company could hear everything. Or maybe she did and was just having some fun. Only it was more comical when she emerged to find Edward sitting on her bed right before the door and me sitting at her computer surfing the web. And her in nothing but a towel and dripping wet.
Suppressing my giggles I said, "Edward Car."
Edward was having trouble focusing on anything over then Bella jumped at my words. Then he completely forgot where the window was as he smacked into the wall beside it.
Still somehow holding in my laughter I barked, "Out." Yet he still had trouble finding the window and when he finally did find it he forgot to look before exiting it. Looking to Bella who was snickering behind her hand, we both started laughing when we heard the crash. Though Bella did run to the window just to make sure her love was ok.
After some time I got up from the floor and stumbled to the bathroom. Where I washed myself three times just to get it to smell right; I scrubbed my body for close to 10 minutes, washed my body twice (before and after scrubbing), and then using a new toothbrush used her toothpaste. Overall I spent way too much time in the bathroom, about 20 minutes.
Coming out wrapped in a towel as well I sighed in relief to see no one in the room. Then opening my senses I found everyone and I mean everyone downstairs. Edward, Emmett, Jasper, and Bella where downstairs in the living room and Jacob, Leah, and Jared were outside, all of them were waiting for me.
It had been decided earlier this morning that Leah and Jared were accompany me as well as Emmett.
Moving fast I was at the bed and slipping on both outfits. The first for if I take on my Dragonian form and the second an outfit of Bella's that she chose for me. It wasn't one of her favorites but she had it for a long time and one she really didn't care if something happen to it. Finally I finished by slipping on some sandals for no way was I going outside in the nice weather wearing stinking, sweating shoes.
Then just to have some fun I appeared out of nowhere right next to Emmett and Jasper which had Bella snickering again. Edward on the other hand rolled his eyes but I could see how he was fighting back his own snickers. He just didn't want to encourage me though if he knew that he was he would truly die.
Smiling and winking I turned and walked outside.
I waved to the wolves and really had to hold myself back for I really wanted to go over to them. Just being near them was a small comfort and a way to be close to my Jared.
Then just as I was walking to the forest a thought hit me. Hitting my head at my stupidity I whirled around, rushed back to the Cullens and grabbed Bella. "Sorry forgot something. Stay here please." I just about yelled as I pulled Bella into the house.
Settling us on the couch in her living room, I sat Indian style while Bella just sat.
"What? Is there something more we are supposed to do?" Bella asked looking to me.
"Yes but it was me who forgot. Now turn facing me and do everything I say." Waiting as she positioned herself like me I mentally prepared myself for what I was about to do. "Good, no take my hands and just listen." Once her hands were in mine I began focusing on absorbing her scent.
"So what's going on?" Bella asked after a while of silence.
"Well I am using my vampirism ability of absorbent." I simply stated at first then spoke again before she could yank her hands away. "Though I am quite in tune with this ability it stills takes just one slip up for it to turn ugly. So please just trust in me I will be done soon." Then taking a quick breathe I told her more. "In the beginning I had no control. One simple touch and you would be dead. Though now after centuries of practicing and perfecting it I can chose what to absorb. By pinpointing on a certain thing about someone I can absorb that and not cause any harm to the individual."
After a moment's pause she asked, "So what are you absorbing from me?"
"Your scent." It was simple but I was almost done and just needed a moment to focus. Then releasing her hands I sat upright as I had started to slouch under the weight of my ability. Bella on the other hand got up and walked around. I just waited because I knew she had more she what to ask.
"My scent? How?" she finally asked when she leaned on the back of the couch to look directly at me.
"Well it's actually as it sounds I absorb. For even in the beginning I absorbed everything that made up a person, from their looks, scent, abilities, life, even their memories. But back then and the centuries following I always caused harm to the individual I touched, even killing them." I answered standing to walk around the couch and stand by her.
"When you said in the beginning do you mean when you were born?" Bella asked as I gestured that we should go outside. Nodding we began walking back outside to where everyone had stepped closer so to listen as well.
"No my first Death but that is for a later time. Now I must go fishing and you have a lesson in fighting newborns to get to." At that we both started laughing at the irony.
But time was moving and we all had to be as well. So picking up Bella I rushed over to Edward and very easily deposited her right into Edward's arms. Who wasn't really happy because I even positioned his arms to my liking before he even knew what was happening.
I just smirked and moved on.
Jasper having waited long enough had left but not before leaving the boom box Alice provided with Emmett.
So taking a moment to create a link with those that we're going with me; which we're Emmett, Jared, and Leah, I simply thought 'Let's go' and we all took off.
Edward yelled something but I just ignored it. Emmett on the other hand was booming and the wolves couldn't hide their laughter though it came out more as barking then laughs since they were in wolf form. I was looking forward to fishing for some predators.
Sorry, so sorry my bakas but if you were to review and tell me how much you like my story maybe I would be more adept to update more and even stick to my regiment of every Monday/Tuesday posting. But hey this time I do have a reason... Sick with the flu, lost thumb drives, college, tests, kids... So yeah now just enjoy my story and REVIEW YOU BAKAS ~~Mary Mab
I have been keeping my promise of working on this story and even making changes. So yeah I had to update this chapter when I realized all of my errors and none of you told me. Wow what great readers. So enjoy this updated chapter and maybe if I feel up to it I might post a new chapter Monday! Just maybe ~~Mary Mab
