Echoes and Covenants, Part Four
Mommy grabs my picture book from her bag along with my crayons before sitting down on a big chair and putting me onto her lap. "Mommy, are you going to color with me?" I ask as I tilt my head up to look at her.
"Yes, I am." Mommy smiles widely at me. "Which one would you like to color?"
"Um... Can we do Pinocchio?" I tilt my head at her.
"Sure." Mommy smiles as she kisses the top of my head.
"I like Pinocchio." I clap my hands together happily. "I like coloring with mommy. I love mommy!"
Mommy laughs a little before she puts the storybook down and turns me around to face her. "I love you too." Mommy says as she gives me a big kiss on the lips.
But just then, we hear random gunshots sound from outside the house followed by men shouting in Russian. "Mommy?" I whimper as I look up at her nervously.
Mommy puts a finger on her lips, telling me to be silent as she picks me up with her and peeks out the door.
She slowly steps out of the room silently with her handgun in hand. Michael shoots someone through the front door before we hear someone shouting in Russian outside. 'Smoke them out.' Computer mama tells me what they're saying.
Mommy runs downstairs with me in her arms as we follow Michael and Kasim into a room with very big book shelves.
Mommy shuts the room door behind us as Michael rushes over to us with a piece of cloth. "Wrap this around Infinity's mouth and nose." He tells mommy. "I'm gonna get something the block the door cracks."
"Thanks." Mommy nods to him as she crouches down on the floor with me before wrapping the cloth around my mouth and nose. Michael comes back with a much longer cloth and blocks the door cracks with it.
Mommy's arms wrap around me tightly as more gunshots sound from outside, breaking the windows in the room. Mommy's just about to put me down on the floor and stand up, but Michael stops her.
"Don't move and stay with Infinity. You need to keep her safe." Michael tells her before mommy crouches back down and pulls me back into her arms.
Michael has a much bigger gun in hand as he walks over to the window and shoots. Then, he opens the room door just a crack and shoots.
After he's done, he walks back to Kasim, who's still sitting on the floor. Michael points a handgun at him. "You've come a long way to be disappointed." Kasim says as he looks up at him.
Michael crouches down in front of him. "Get up!" Michael growls very angrily. For the first time, Michael feels scary. I wrap my arms around mommy tightly.
Michael grabs him and lifts him up before punching and kicking Kasim, making him fall back onto the floor. Then, Michael pulls out a black cloth and wraps it around Kasim's neck before pulling back up and pointing a gun at him.
"I'm not who you think I am." Kasim groans.
"Shut up!" Michael growls.
"It's true." Mommy says quietly, looking down at the phone in her hands. "He used this to call for help." She tells Michael sadly. 'Kasim used to work for Division.'
"How do you know how to use that?" Michael murmurs to Kasim scarily, making goosebumps pop up my olive skin.
"Mommy..." I whimper quietly as I hug her tighter.
Mommy hugs me back before looking at Michael again. "Infinity and I will wait outside." She tells him before she leaves the phone on the floor and we leave Michael with Kasim...

Vision
"... Even if those sacrifices have to come from the blood of our own country." Percy said to Kasim as he pointed to the black folder in his hands. "In this particular case, only one soldier needs to fall. When Alkaido learns that you've taken this man out, they'll welcome you, and I'll have a man on the inside, and together, we can save thousands."
Then, Percy opened up the folder. Inside, there was a picture of Michael...
End Vision
I don't understand what computer mama just showed me...
"Look, sweetie..." Mommy's voice makes me look up as she gives me a pretty little flower.
"Ohh, it's pretty..." I smile happily before hugging mommy with a giggle. "But mommy's prettier."
"Thank you, sweetie." Mommy laughs lightly before kissing me on the cheek. "I think you're prettier too." She hugs me as I giggle.
But just then, there's a gunshot sound coming from inside the house, making me squeak as mommy hugs me tighter. A moment later, Michael walks out of the house, looking VERY sad.
Mommy follows him silently for a moment, before speaking up quietly. "Kasim was Division, wasn't he?"
Michael doesn't say anything, but mommy seems to understand. I tilt my head. I don't know how grown-ups can do that...
"I bought them a house, Elizabeth and Haley." Michael speaks up quietly. "One night, Lizzie and I just started flipping through the house catalogue, Lizzie saw this house in Hawaii, and her eyes just lit up. So, I tore out the page, and without telling her, I started saving up, before you knew it, I had enough money for the down payment. When I called the realtor in, he said that the place was still available, I nearly jumped out of my chair..."
Michael laughs sadly before continuing. "My plan was to fly them there for vacation, and tell them that house was our rental, and I know on the last day of vacation, Haley would just look up at me, and tell me that it's time to go home. But I would look back down at her and I would tell her that we're home."
Both mommy and Michael look as if they might cry. I stay quiet and hug mommy tightly. "Percy took that away from me." Michael mutters. "Made me into this. I'm going to go into his office, and I'm gonna shoot him."
"Percy goes down, this country will never recover." Mommy says quietly as she hugs me closer to her. "You remember telling me that?"
"I don't care." Michael shakes his head.
"I don't believe you." Mommy says. "Because you're stronger than that. You're the strongest person I ever met. You do the things that other people won't do. You sacrifice and you dedicate your life to people you know are innocent. I don't think you're capable of not caring..."
Mommy pauses before continuing. "We'll find the rest of the black boxes and then we'll kill Percy, and he will not be able to do this to anyone ever again." Mommy's words are scaring me.
"Mommy..." I whimper as something in my tummy feels as if I've just eaten snow.
"Shh..." Mommy rubs my head quietly.
"You've to watch your words when you're with her, Nikita." Michael almost smiles as he raises a hand to rub my back lightly...

I'm playing with play-doh while mommy's doing something downstairs. But then, I hear footsteps coming upstairs. It sounds like there's someone with mommy...
My oval-shaped face frowns silently. Is Alex here too? "Sweetie, it's time for bed." Mommy smiles as she opens the door.
My almond-shaped dark brown eyes widen when I see who's with mommy. "Michael!" I squeal happily as I put my arms up for him to come and pick me up. He walks over and picks me up with a smile.
"And she forgets all about me." Mommy rolls her eyes, but she looks as if she might smile.
"No, I haven't." I shake my head before reaching my arms out towards her. "Mommy hug too."
"Oh, sweetie..." Mommy laughs a little as she takes me from Michael's arms. "Come on, it's time for bed. Michael's going to tuck you in."
"We're both going to tuck you in." Michael says as he holds mommy's hand. Mommy looks at him with a smile. I smile too as I feel feathers floating inside my tummy.
"Is Michael going to stay?" I tilt my head at them hopefully.
"Yeah. I'm staying." Michael smiles and nods before reaching out a hand to tickle my tummy. "Would you like that?"
"Uh-huh." I giggle loudly.
"Okay, I think that's enough excitement for one day." Mommy says with a smile as she looks between me and Michael. "Let's get you off to bed..."
