Chapter 17

Addy watched next to Dean as Sam paced back and forth through the hall, on his phone. She glanced to see him wave at someone and looked just in time to see Becky lick her palm and blow it at him. She grimaced as Sam gained a very disturbed look and ended the call.

"All right. So that was a guy with the County Historical Society," he said, walking over to them.

"And?" Dean asked expectantly.

"Not only did Leticia Gore butcher four boys, but one of them was her own son," he said gravely.

Addy shook her head," This is ridiculous."

"What?" Dean asked.

"Nothing it's just…" she began, trailing off," I've seen evil my whole life, but I'll never understand how someone could hurt a child…let alone their own. As a mother shouldn't that go against every fiber of your being?"

Dean stared at her intently and she met his eyes. Quickly, she looked away and Sam noticed with a smirk.

"Did he say where she was buried?" Addy asked, clearing her throat.

"He doesn't know," Sam replied.

"Check it out. There's the orphanage, here's the carriage house, and right there... cemetery."

Dean and Sam were still in conversation but Addy heard the comically deep voice and began listening more intently as she glanced at two men at a table not too far away looking over a map.

"You think that's where Leticia's planted?" one asked and her ears perked up.

"It's worth a shot," the other replied and that's all she needed to hear. She walked up to them, Sam and Dean following behind her in confusion and grabbed the map.

"Hey!" one complained as she looked it over.

"Guys this is real," Addy said," At least a century. There's the cemetery."

"Hey, do you mind?" the other complained, trying to snatch the map away but she swatted him away half hazardly.

One snatched it from her and she turned to him with a glare.

"Where'd you get that?" Dean asked them.

"It's called a game pal. It ain't called charity," he replied.

Addy rolled her eyes and took it back," This isn't a game."

"And we don't need an Addy," one said, trying to take the map back again," She's cool, but Sam and Dean were way less complicated before she came along."

"Excuse me?" she said, offended," Sam and Dean were a mess before she came along and they were a mess after so don't you-"

"Hey calm down princess," Dean said with a wink.

One of the fan boys scoffed," Dean never calls Addy princess. She's far from it if you ask-"

"Okay listen here you little-" Addy began, but Sam stopped her.

"Look, guys. We all wanna find the bones right? We just thought...it would go faster if we all worked together," he said, trying to keep the peace as Addy glared at the short and chubby one and he glared back but looked away.

He two geeks exchanged a look and then said," We want the gift card."

"Fine," Dean said with an eye roll.

"And we get to be Sam and Dean," the other added.

"We don't give a shit," Addy said with a sigh.

"You know you're LARPing is spot on," the tall and skinny one said," You're really good with the way she uses sarcasm to hide the true pain she hides in her soul."

She stared at him as her fist clenched at her sides," I'll shoot you."

"But I'm-" he cleared his throat and added in a deeper voice," But I'm Sam. You're boyfriend…and you and I are in love."

She turned around with a huff and said to Dean," We have an hour to find the body or they'll be bodies."

With that she walked off and he guy playing Sam walked after her yelling in his deep voice," Addy we can't leave our love to die."

SUPERNATURAL

"Hey, Rufus, Bobby, Addy, would you hurry it up?"

The trio followed behind them on the hotel trail with sour looks on their faces.

"You okay?" Sam asked his brother.

"I'm trying to be," Dean replied in a gruff tone.

"So where were we?" the short one asked.

"Ah, Dr Ellicott and just zapped your brain," he remembered.

"Right, got it. Ahem," he said, clearing his throat and going into character," Why are we even here Dean? You just following dad's footsteps like a good little soldier? You that desperate for approval?"

Addy glanced at Dean to see his whole stance stiffen.

"This isn't you talking Sam," the other said, mimicking the deep, almost painful sounding voice.

"See that's the difference between you and me. I got a mind of my own. I'm not pathetic," they continued.

"So what are ya going to do Sam? Are you going to kill me?"

"Man I am so sick of you telling me what to do."

"All right, you know what? That's it," Dean said, finally blowing up," That is it."

"What's wrong Bobby?"

"Dean-" Addy said gently, trying to calm him.

"No, they're fucking idiots!" he yelled and turned back to them," I'm not Bobby, ok? You're not Sam. You're not Dean. What is wrong with you? Why in the hell would you choose to be these guys?"

"Because we're fans. Like you," he said, confused.

"No. I am not a fan, ok. Not fans. In fact, I think that the Dean and Sam story sucks. It is not fun. It is not entertaining. It is a river of crap that would send most people howling to the nut house," he ranted,"So you listen to me. Their pain is not for your amusement. I mean do you think they enjoy being treated like... like circus freaks?"

"Uh...I don't think they care, because they're fictional characters."

As soon as the words left his mouth Addy and Sam exchanged a wary look.

"Oh they care. Believe me. They care a lot," he yelled and stormed off," I'm so done with the bullshit!"

Both of the fan boys turned back to them with a confused look.

"He..uh...he takes the story really seriously," Sam tried to explain.

"I'll…uh…go get him," Addy said and had to take off in a jog after him to catch up. She soon lost him on the trail, but found him sitting on a bench, his head in his hands. Immediately, she softened and took a hesitant seat next to him.

"I'm sorry but if I have to spend more one more minutes with those two I might-"

"Explode because I think you got that covered," she said and when he turned to look at her, she smiled and he laughed.

"Was it really that bad?" he asked with a chuckle.

She nodded and then her face sobered," I get it, Dean. It's weird, but it's not their fault."

"Yeah it kind of is," he replied," Who in their right mind would wanna have our lives? It sucks. We don't have homes, or jobs, or lives outside of what we do for that matter. Hell…who would wanna be me?"

She heard how broken he sounded and she sighed," I know one person who would wanna be you."

"If you say one of those dick head nerds I swear…" he began with a smirk.

"No, you idiot," she said, rolling her eyes and made him look at her," I wanna be you."

"You're not serious," he said with a frown.

She scoffed," I'm not? You don't think I'd want to be brave and fearless and kind. You don't think I'd want to be able to look someone in the eye and convince them it's okay even if I don't believe it. Don't let this get to your head but you're kind of amazing."

"You don't mean that," he said, shaking his head.

"Look at me," she said and he met her eyes, "I mean it. I mean it more than you'll probably ever know. I don't believe in much, but I believe in you and you should too."

He stared at her for a good, long time and then whispered, "I feel like I'm gonna let you down."

She gave him a small smile and grabbed his hand in hers," As long as your hearts still beating and you're still you there's not much you can do that would make me think you let me down."

He searched her eyes," I wish you'd let me love you."

She took a sharp breath and said," I wish I would too."

She dropped his hand reluctantly," Come on they're waiting on us."

They stood up and gently he cupped her face in his hands. He pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and walked off. I was a little while later that she could actually go after him.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy shined her flashlight on the grave stones and pulled out her shovel.

"Ah...what are you guys doing?" the short one asked.

"We're looking for bones genius. They gotta be around here somewhere," "Sam" said, in character with his painful deep voice again.

"Ok. Generally, bones are in the ground," Dean said with a raised brow, taking out his shovel as well.

"Yeah, I know that. I just..." he paused when he noticed them actually holding shovels," Wait, hold on. Are you guys serious?"

"Deadly," Dean said in an amused tone as Addy was the first one to break ground.

"We're not really digging up graves you guys, we're just playing a game," the tall one said nervously.

"Trust us. You wanna win the game, right?" Dean asked with a smirk.

Not too long later they had dug up the entire grave and Addy and Dean stood in the whole while everyone else shined down their lights for them to see. They lift the lid to reveal the body and one of the fan boys gags in disgust.

"That's not a plastic skeleton. That's a... that's a skeleton skeleton," he said in alarm.

"You just dug up a real grave," the other adds, panicked.

"Yeah," Addy said casually, staring down at the woman.

"You guys are nuts!"

"I thought you guys wanted to be hunters?" Sam asked, exchanging an amused look with Addy and Dean.

"Hunters aren't real man. This isn't real," the short one said, really freaking out now.

"My God. You guys have seriously lost your grip on this..." he trails off and freezes, staring at Sam.

"What?" Sam asked.

"Sam move," Addy calls out to him, Leticia Gore behind him.

"Naughty, naughty, naughty," she says and backhands him to the other side of the cemetery.

"Sam!" Addy calls and pulls herself out of the grave as Dean does the same. The two fan boys begin to run away screaming but one of them trips. The other one goes back to help him, but Leticia appears in front of them.

"Naughty, naughty, naughty," she says again and thrust a hand out but Addy pushed them out of the way and Leticia's hand goes into her. She can feel her insides churning as the woman stares dead in her eyes.

In a fiery blast, she disappears and Addy crumples to her knees and onto her side, gasping for air as Sam gets up with a groan. Dean hurries to her side and pulls her into a hug as she sits up.

"You okay?"

She moans a response and nods.

"You did not just almost die saving them," Dean said with a smirk and she hit him on the chest as he helped her to her feet.

"Not one word," she orders him, brushing off her jacket.

"You okay?" Sam asked her.

She nodded," I feel violated, but other than that yeah."

He smirked and turned back to the two guys," Real enough for you?"

They looked at them with horrified expressions as the hunters smirked in triumph.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy watched near the exit door as Sam and Dean say goodbye to the two fan boys as they drank down another shot of whiskey. She spotted Chuck and he gave her a small wave. In return, she gave him the finger.

Dean and Sam walk towards her and she turns towards the door," Thank God. Let's get out of here and block this out for the rest of our lives."

"Agreed," Sam and Dean said and as she pushed the door it didn't budge. She shoved harder and still nothing.

"Step aside girly," Dean said with a smirk and pushed it with everything he had, still nothing.

Both brothers and her tried it next but still the doors wouldn't move. They exchanged looks and then began trying every single door, exit, and window they could find.

They meet back near the main doors.

"Anything?" Dean asked.

"I tried smashing a window," Addy whispered," Nothing. I even tried using my powers and something's blocking it."

"Every exit's locked. Almost like..." Sam began, trialing off.

"Something's keeping us in?" Dean finished.

"Yeah. This is bad," Sam said.

"Gee ya think Sammy?" Dean asked in frustration.

"I think it's safe to say we didn't do something right here," Addy said, glancing around.

A woman shrieks and instantly the follow the noise up the stairs and bump into the actress who was playing Ms. Gore from earlier as she fled from the library," Don't go in there!"

"Get downstairs ok? Go go!" Dean ordered her.

They walk into the library to see the Gore boy crouched in the corner, covering his head," Why'd you do that? Why did you send my mommy away?"

"Ah, maybe because of the high and tight she gave you, huh? How 'bout some thanks," Dean said sarcastically and Addy hit him on the arm.

"Well, I'm just saying a little gratitude might be nice once in a while," he mumbled and she hit him again," Okay I'm done."

"My mommy didn't do this to me," he said sadly with a whimper.

Addy got closer to him and Dean tried to hold her back but she shrugged him off, "He won't hurt me."

She slowly got closer and the boy stared at her as she sank to her knees in front of him so they were eye level," I know your Mommy didn't do this to you. Who did?"

"They wanted to play," he whispered to her.

"Who wanted to play?" she whispered back," You can tell me. I'm your friend."

Instantly, his face changed and he removed his hands to reveal his gruesome injury," That's what they said and they did this to me."

"Who?" she asked more forcefully this time and he disappeared.

She stood up and turned back to Sam and Dean," I think I know what actually happened."

"What?" Sam asked just as more screaming started, this time from a male.

They ran back into the hall and followed the noise all the way to the hall where a man was lying in a pool of his own blood, half of his scalp missing.

"Oh yeah we definitely had this wrong," Addy said, staring at the body.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy helps Dean usher the hotel employees into the auditorium with Chuck and closed it behind them as he begins talking," Ah, what does the future hold for Sam and Dean? Well, how do you feel about angels? Yeah, because let me tell you, they're not nearly as lame as you think."

They lay salt at the entrance as they began talking.

"Okay so new legend," Addy said, "Ms. Gore wasn't a bitch she was a mother. Kids were playing cowboys and Indians. Shit goes down. Gores son actually gets scalped and dies. Gore catches them, flips shit, and kills them than herself."

"If that's true it means we've got three bloodthirsty brats in the building," Sam said with a sigh," and Leticia was the only one keeping them under control. Smooth move on our part."

"Yeah, well we gotta get back to the cemetery, torch the kids' bones," Dean said," And all his from a couple of kids LARPing…nothing good comes from LARPing."

"We're trapped, we don't even have our guns! The ghosts are running this joint and they're only scared of one thing," Sam said, frustrated.

Addy glanced around the room and her eyes landed on the actress from earlier," Well than let's give them what they're scared of."

SUPERNATURAL

Addy stood outside the library with Dean at his side, both of them with iron pokers in hand. The actress woman was inside, scared out of her mind.

"I don't wanna do this," she whispered to them.

"I'm right here sweetheart, I've got your back. Trust me, this is going to work," Dean said, poking his head around the corner.

When he rolled back to hide, he grimaced and Addy shot him an exasperated look.

"Don't tell me you don't like it when I call other girls sweetheart," he said with a smirk and she shook her head with an eye roll.

"What if I don't?" she whispered back, teasing him to relieve the tension.

"I call you princess for a reason," he said and she had to bite her lip to keep from smiling.

"Boys? Boys? Come here this instant. You come when I call you. You understand me?" she called and they tightened their grips on their pokers.

It was quiet for a little while and then the small voice of a boy said," Miss Gore?"

"You boys have been very naughty. Now you open the doors. Open the doors right now," she ordered in timid voice," Very naughty, you hear me?"

Just as they thought it was working a song began playing. Addy exchanged a worried look with Dean and they emerged from behind the wall.

"Run," Dean ordered the girl and she did so with no inhibitions and then he turned to Addy," Ready?"

Addy looked to him," As I'll ever be."

The boys began advancing on them, knives in hand.

One charged at her and she swung the poker and he disappeared as Dean did the same. Dean's thrown into the wall and the boys go for him but Addy swings the poker and they disperse. She holds out her hand and pulls him up.

"Getting slow there," she said with a smirk.

"Don't even-" he starts to say but a boy appears between them and shoves them apart so they fall on opposite sides of the room. Her poker slides out of her hand as a boy holds her down and begins trying to press his knife to her throat. She tries to fend him off but he's stronger than he looks. She sees Dean doing the same thing with the other two and their eyes meet.

There defenses slowly crumble and as the knife nearly cuts Dean she shrieks," No!"

All three of the boys fly back into the wall with a burst of energy from her. Then they burn up with angry howls and are gone.

Addy stares at the space a little longer before collapsing on her back, exhausted.

Dean gets up and grabs his poker from the floor as she stands," You know maybe that guy was right. Maybe we should put these things on a bungee."

She stares at him with a raised brow," What?"

SUPERNATURAL

Addy walked side by side with Dean and the fan boys as they passed the emergency vehicles, "You know I gotta hand it to you guys. You really saved our asses back there. So ah, you know, thanks. "

They came to a stop, the two duos facing each other.

"You know we don't even know your names," Addy said with a small smile," Your real names."

"Oh. Well, I'm Barnes," the tall one said and then looked to his friend, "This is Damien. What's yours?"

"Dean. The real Dean," he says after a moment of consideration and then looks to her," And this is the real Addy."

After a moment of silence they start laughing and Addy notes the brief look of disappointment on his face before he laughs along with them.

"Ahhh, yeah right. Me too!"

"Get the hell out of here Dean!"

"Well, anyway. Thanks. Really," he said and they began walking off but they called after them,"You know you're wrong!"

"Sorry?" Dean asked as they turned back.

"About Supernatural. No offense but I'm not sure you get what the stories about," he said and Addy couldn't help but smile," In real life, he sells stereo equipment. I fix copiers. Our lives suck. But to be Sam and Dean, to wake up every morning and save the world. To have a brother who would die for you and a pretty girl who kicks ass. Well who wouldn't want that?"

"Told you so," Addy said, looking at Dean meaningfully.

"Maybe you got a point. You know, you two don't make a bad team yourselves," Dean said.

"Oh. Well, we met online. Supernatural chat room," Barnes said.

"So how long you two been together?" Addy asked with a smile.

They intertwine hands and Addy smiles as Barnes leans down to put his head on Damien's shoulder and he said, "Two years. We're partners."

"Well howdy partners," Dean said awkwardly.

"Howdy," Barnes replied happily and then gestured to them," What about you two? How long have you been together?"

"Oh we're not-" Addy began, but Dean put his arm around her shoulder and she lost her train of thought.

"She's not exactly mine yet," he said and gave her a wink," but we're getting there."

"Well don't you let him go," Damien said to her," You two are perfect for each other. Kind of like Addy and Dean themselves."

"We ship them," Barnes explained," Sam and Addy are good together, but Dean and Addy…that's epic."

She looked down with a shy smile as they said their goodbyes and walked off hand in hand. Dean and Addy walked back to the car, his arm still around her.

"Epic," Dean repeated," I like that."

"I thought we were still playing a game," she said, narrowing her eyes at him.

"We are," he said and trapped her between the Impala and him, his hands on her waist," Doesn't mean I can't do this every once in awhile."

She searched his eyes," I'm trying, Dean. I really am but-"

"I don't need to hear you say it," he said, brushing a strand of hair from her face," I know it. You don't, but you will."

She gave him a smile and ever so subtly he shifted against her and she bit her lip," Damn it, Dean I need you to stop."

"Why?" he asked playfully.

She looked him dead in the eye," Because if you keep it up I will push you down and fuck you on top of this car."

He raised a brow," Well now that's gonna be stuck in my head."

"Consider it payback," she said with wink as he let her go and she winked at him as Sam approached them.

"You ok?" Sam asked Dean, noticing his far off look.

"Oh yeah," he said with a small smile," I think I'm good."

"Well, you're not going to believe it, but I got a lead on the Colt," Sam said happily.

"Wait what?" Addy asked," How?"

"Long story, I'll tell you on the way?" he asked as they smiled.

"What are we waiting for?" Dean asked as they slid into the car and drove off, all of them on good terms and in good moods for the first time in months.
