Chapter 18

Addy and Jo walked up to the large iron gate in skin tight black dresses and their regular boots. Jo pressed the intercom.

"Hello?" a voice says.

"Hi," Addy said into the speaker," Our car broke down and we could use some help."

"I'll be down in a minute," the voice replied and they turned to each other giving an imperceptible nod.

The gate swung open and two men approach," Evening, pretty ladies. Get yourselves on in here."

"We just need to make a call," Jo said politely.

"You don't need to call anyone," he said, glancing at his partner and then looked hungrily at both of them," We're the only help you two are ever gonna need."

"I think we should just wait in the car," Addy said, feigning fear as she gently pulled Jo back but they grabbed them and their eyes went black.

"We said, get your ass in here," he growled in her face.

"No thanks," Addy said as the demon holding Jo was stabbed by Sam with the demon knife and she kneed him in the groin and knocked him down so Sam could stab him too.

"You okay?" Dean asked, coming up to Addy and she nodded," Nice work guys."

Jo nodded as Dean handed her a pair of wire cutters and Addy her gun," Thanks."

"Shall we?" Jo asked.

SUPERNATURAL

The power cut and they laid in wait for him. He stepped into the hall and they emerged from the dark.

"It's Crowley, right?" Sam asked, the demon knife in hand as Addy and Dean trained shotguns on him.

"So. Nancy Drew and he Hardy Boys finally found me. Took you long enough," he said, approaching and they all tensed went he noticed the rumpled carpet. He lifted it up to reveal the devil's trap on the other side," Do you have any idea how much this rug cost?"

Demons appeared behind all three of them and took their weapons, restraining them. They struggled furiously.

"This is it, right?" Crowley ask, pulling the Colt from his coat," This is what it's all about."

He pointed it at Dean and Addy's heart stops before he adjust his aim and shoots all three demons.

"We need to talk. Privately," Crowley said and then turned his back and walked away, expecting them to follow. They exchanged confused looks and followed after him.

"What the hell is this?" Dean asked as Crowley led them into another room.

"Do you know how deep I could have buried this thing?" he asked, putting the Colt down in a box and waved his hand so the door slammed shut, "There's no reason you or anyone should know this even exists, except that I told you."

"You told us," Sam repeated.

"Rumors, innuendo," he said and winked at Addy, "sent out on the grapevine."

"Why? Why tell us anything?" Sam asked.

Crowley aimed the Colt at Addy and without second thoughts Dean and Sam stepped in front of her.

Crowley chuckled," No wonder Lucifer wants you. You already got these two wrapped around your pretty little finger."

She moved from behind them," Why are you helping us?"

"I want you to take this thing to Lucifer and empty it into his face," he said simply.

"Uh-huh, okay, and why exactly would you want the devil dead?" Dean asked, not believing his motives.

"It's called," Crowley began, putting the gun down," Survival. Well, I forgot you two at best are functioning morons…"

"You're functioning…morons," Dean said, trying to come up with a comeback and failing miserably.

Crowley rolled his eyes and looked to Addy," but you. You're smart. You can figure it out."

She stared at him, working it out in her head," He hates humans…but he hates demons more."

"Ding ding ding," Crowley said dramatically," Guess you're not just a pretty face."

"But he created you," Sam said in confusion.

"Lucifer isn't a demon, remember? He's an angel. An angel famous for his hatred of humankind. To him, you're just filthy bags of pus. If that's the way he feels about you, what can he think about us?" Crowley explained, pouring himself a drink," To him, we're just servants. Cannon fodder. If Lucifer manages to exterminate humankind, we're next. So, help me, huh? Let's all go back to simpler, better times, back to when we could all follow our natures. I'm in sales, dammit! So what do you say if I give you this thing, and you go kill the devil?"

He holds out the Colt, handle first to Addy and hesitantly she takes it.

"You wouldn't happen to know where the devil is, by chance, would you?" Sam asked.

"Thursday, birdies tell me, there's an appointment in Carthage, Missouri," Crowley said and looked Addy up and down," I see why he likes you. Little fireball, aren't you, but still a hell of a lot of bats in that pretty head of yours. I figure no one wants him dead more than you, ay love."

"You figured right," she said and glanced at Dean who gave her a curt nod. She put the Colt between Crowley's eyes and pulled the trigger. It did nothing but click and she frowned and pulled it again. Still nothing,

"Oh, yeah, right, you'll probably need some more ammunition," Crowley said casually, the gun at his head not affecting him.

"Oh, uh, excuse me for asking, but aren't you kind of signing your own death warrant? I mean, what happens to you if we go up against the devil and lose?" Dean asked as the demon rummaged through his desk.

"Number one, he's going to wipe us all out anyway. Two, after you leave here, I go on an extended vacation to all points nowhere. And three, how about you don't miss, okay! Morons!" he yells at them and throws something at Dean which he catches and opens to reveal bullets.

When they look back, Crowley is long gone.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy laughs along with Jo and Ellen as Cas drains yet another shot glass and feels nothing.

"I'll be right back," she said, getting up and taking her beer as she went over to Sam and Dean in Bobby's study and sat on his desk," You know the parties in there."

"Parties right where you are darlin," Dean said and she laughed with a small hiccup.

"Are you drunk?" Sam asked.

"Tipsy," she said, taking another small swig of beer and tapping him on the nose," There's a difference."

Sam and Dean exchanged an amused look and then Dean's face sobered.

"Look, when you think about it you two can't come with," Dean said and Sam scoffed as Addy raised a brow.

"Did you just tell me I can't do something?" she asked.

Dean gulped, "Yeah not my best idea."

"Not even a little," she said with a smirk," And I'm going."

"You're Lucifer's queen," he said and looked to Sam," You're his vessel. I go against Satan and screw the pooch, okay. We've lost a game piece. That we can take. But if you two are there, then we are handing the devil's vessel and his eternal queen right over to him. That's not smart."

"Since when have we ever done anything smart?" Sam asked with a scoff.

"I'm serious, guys," Dean said gravely.

"So is Sam," Addy replied, hopping off the desk," We don't do smart things. We do stupid things. It's how we survive. So I'm going. End of discussion…and I need more beer."

"Haven't we learned a damn thing? If we're gonna do this, we're gonna do it together," Sam added as she left.

"It's still a stupid friggin idea," Dean replied and paused, looking over Sam's shoulder at Addy. Sam turned to see she was sitting on the table and she leaned back a little too far as she laughed with Jo and Ellen. Cas caught her and they laughed even harder as he picked her up with the same serious look on her face.

"She's funny when she's drunk," Dean said with a chuckle.

"She's also incapable of lying," Sam added with a look.

"What?" Dean asked cluelessly as his brother stared at him.

"She drinks too much and it's kind of like her truth serum," he explained casually," If there were ever a time to get answers out of her it'd be now."

"Dude…that's a little evil," Dean said.

Sam shrugged," No offense, Dean, but you need all the help you can get. I'm getting a little tired of you two playing dumb."

The air in the house was hot so Dean watched as she peeled her flannel from her arms and threw it on the back of a chair. He raised a brow and stared at her prominent figure in the tighter than usual black tank top. He got up and followed her to the fridge where she bent over to grab something.

She stood back up and turned to see him right in front of her," Hey."

"Hello," she replied, opening a bottle of water," I think I've hit my limit for the night."

"So. Dangerous mission tomorrow. Guess it's time to eat, drink, and, you know, make merry," he said, leaning close to her," Now's as good a time as ever to have that talk."

"Is this like a last night on earth pity thing?" she asked with a smirk.

"No," he said, leaning his hand on the counter next to her and his hand barely brushed her," It's a time to admit what we both know is true thing."

She leaned in close to him and whispered," And what's that Dean?"

"That you want me," he said, his eyes on her lips and then added more thoughtfully, "In more ways than one."

"You know the truth thing only works when I'm actually drunk," she whispered with a wink and sauntered back to Jo and Ellen.

"Everybody get in here! It's time for the lineup. Usual suspects in the corner," Bobby yelled as they filed into the living room in front of a camera.

"Oh come on, Bobby. Nobody wants their picture taken," Ellen complained.

"Hear, hear," Sam agreed.

"I second that, " Addy added.

"Shut up. You're drinking my beer," Bobby ordered, fiddling with the tripod," Anyway, I'm gonna need something to remember your sorry asses by."

Cas filed into the room as well and stood next to Ellen.

"Ha! Always good to have an optimist around," Ellen said as everyone got into position with a smile.

"Bobby's right. Tomorrow we hunt the devil. This is our last night on earth," Cas said and when the camera snapped she didn't think anyone was smiling in the picture.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy stared up at the night sky, sitting on the hood of the Impala and her back on the windshield. Everyone else had long gone to bed, but she couldn't sleep.

"I know you're not sitting on my car."

She turned her head to see Dean standing and staring at her. She simply scoot over and patted the spot next to her. Within seconds he was occupying the space.

"Couldn't sleep either?" he asked.

She nodded, still staring at the sky," You're not dying tomorrow. If I can help it everyone's coming back safe."

"Addy you should prepare yourself for anything if-"

"I'm not preparing myself to lose anyone, Dean," she said, turning to him," Because if I do that than that's admitting we could fail and it's not an option."

He smiled at her," I just don't want you to go back to how you were. Did you know you stopped smiling for a little while? I did and I missed it. I don't want to see you like that again."

"Okay," she said with a small smile," Than I'll keep smiling…for you."

"If you don't mean it than what's the point?"

"Every smile I give you is real, Dean," she stared at him for a little bit longer until reality hit her and she sat up," We should go back inside and at least try and sleep."

"Can we just stay here for a bit?" he asked hopefully.

She settled into him and he wrapped his arms around her. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and then leaned his chin on her shoulder as they looked up at the stars together.

"We'll be okay tomorrow, Dean," she said softly," You'll see."

He held her closer and resisted the urge to tell her she might be wrong.

SUPERNATURAL

Carthage, Missouri was a waste land. No life, no movement, nothing and Addy could feel something bad had happened. The minute they got there a chill had taken over her body and she could feel it growing colder. As they walked down the road, shotguns in hand. Addy walked behind Sam and Dean between Ellen and Jo. Castiel had gone missing after seeing reapers everywhere and hadn't been found.

"Well, this is great, been in town twenty minutes and already lost the angel up our sleeve," Dean mumbled to his brother.

"You think, uh, you think Lucifer got him?" Sam asked.

"Of course he did," Addy said with a sigh," Being a step ahead is his specialty."

"Lucifer's right you are smart."

They turned to see Meg standing behind them. They all trained their shotguns on her.

"Shouldn't have come here, boys," she says to Sam and Dean with a smirk.

"No," Addy says and cocks her gun," You shouldn't have."

"Oh and I'm supposed to be afraid of a witch who can't use her powers," the demon said smugly and Addy frowned in confusion," Did you really think we wouldn't plan for that? And besides…I brought company."

A movement causes a puddle to splash near Meg.

"Hellhounds," Dean says and Addy glances at him to see his jaw set.

"Yeah, Dean. Your favorite. Come on, Addy. My father wants to see you," she said with a smirk.

"I think we'll pass, thanks," Sam said, narrowing his eyes at her.

"Your call. You can make this easy or you can make it really, really hard," she threatened.

Dean looked to Addy and she gave him a slight nod, as did Jo and Ellen," When have you known us to ever make anything easy?"

Dean cocks his gun and shoots near Meg's foot. The whimper and spurt of black ooze follows signals the hit.

"Run!" Addy orders and they take off in the opposite direction.

She heard Dean cry out and turns to see him pinned to the ground by a hellhound.

"Dean," she yells and fires at the space above him again and again, advancing closer.

"Addy get back," Dean calls as he goes back up and suddenly she's knocked over and a white, searing hot pain shoots through her arm. She cried out in pain as her shirt became soaked in her own blood from where a hell hound had torn into her.

"Addy get down," Jo cries out and she rolls on her side just as Jo fires. She turns just in time to see Jo knocked down and her shirt rips and blood spurts as a hell hound tears into her.

"No!" she hears Ellen cry out and Dean scoops her up in his arms as Sam does the same with Jo. They run into the nearest building and he set Addy down next to Jo and helped Sam barricade the entrances with salt and chains.

"Boys, need some help here!" Ellen called when they were done.

They turned to see her between both Addy and Jo, bloodied and gripping their injuries. Ellen turns back to them in horror.
