Naruto didn't even know what to do with himself as he waited outside for his new presents. He had never really gotten any presents on his birthday before. Not even Iruka-sensei got him presents since he couldn't really afford to do so. This was a whole new experience for him and he couldn't help but to feel overly excited. Even with the small problem with the old lady, this was turning out to be the best birthday ever.

When the eldest son came out of the black smith's shop, Naruto was surprised to find that he was also holding a scroll. "What's that?" he asked curiously.

"This is a scroll for sealing your stuff away," he explained. He wasn't a ninja himself, but he had done enough research to know about these sorts of things. "A lot of ANBUs carry them around so that they don't have to carry the large packs that genin's have to carry."

"Oh," Naruto said. The older man handed the scroll over to him along with the new weapons and Naruto's eyes widened. "You're giving it to me?" he asked.

"Of course," the man smiled. "It's the second half of your birthday present."

"But I," Naruto began to say as he stared at the two gifts. He was only expecting one and he already thought that it was probably going to be too expensive to accept and now he was being given a second one.

"Take it," the younger brother said. "You aren't supposed to return birthday presents."

"Really?" Naruto asked wide-eyed.

"Well you can," the older brother said, "but only if you don't like the gift. If you do like the gift, then you have to keep it."

"But it's just so expensive," Naruto said.

"Don't worry about it," the older brother said. "That's why it's your birthday present. It only comes around once a year so people give you presents to celebrate no matter what the cost."

"Really?" Naruto asked again.

"Yea," the brothers smiled.

"Thank you," Naruto grinned. He immediately turned to Kakashi and asked, "Can I use them now?"

"You can use the scroll," Kakashi nodded, "to put all your stuff in, but I think that you should wait to use your new weapons until after you've trained with them a little."

Naruto was disappointed that he wouldn't be able to use his cool new weapons, but even that couldn't bring him down at this very moment as Kakashi showed how to use his scroll to seal away all of your surprise. He even offered to hold on to everyone else's stuff, but before Sakura could willingly agree Sasuke said that they would be fine carrying their own stuff. Naruto just shrugged and tucked the scroll into his weapons pouch.

"I think that we should probably head home now," the older brother said. "We want to get back before the day is over."

"But you've only just arrived," the old woman said hastily. "Can't you stay just a little longer?"

"Sorry mom," the younger brother said, "but we promised we'd be back before the day was over."

"But I never get to see you anymore," the woman held onto her sons in an attempt to keep them there longer.

"We'll come and visit again later," her older son said. Despite his earlier words against her, even he would not allow her dislike of Naruto to get in the way of their relationship. He and his brother would just have to convince her of the truth so that they wouldn't have to have any more of these problems.

"Well," Kakashi sensei said as he looked up at the sky above them. "If we really want to get back without having to stop for the night, we should probably leave now."

Darn those short in between chapters. They keep getting in the way of writing the longer chapters. Oh well, I guess they can be necessary every now and again.
