Infinity and Beyond
-Chapter 37-
Game Change, Part One
Michael's laying in bed with me while mommy's out doing something... Michael is reading me Alice in Wonderland...
I'm getting sleepier as my almond-shaped dark brown eyes grow heavier... I rub my eyes and yawn. "Getting sleepy?" Michael smiles at me.
"Uh-huh." I nod. "Is mommy coming back soon?"
"You wanna wait for mommy, don't you?" Michael sounds as if he might laugh. I tilt my head. I don't know why that would be funny...
"Yes, I do." I say as I yawn, making my eyes grow wet. I rub my eyes sleepily. "I want mommy to hug me..."
Just then, there's a knock on the front door. "Nikita?" Michael calls out.
"Yep." Mommy's voice sounds before Michael gets up and walks over and opens the front door.
"Mommy..." I smile sleepily when I see mommy walk in.
"Hi, sweetie." Mommy smiles at me as she walks over to me and sits down on the edge of the bed I'm laying on. "Not asleep yet?" She says.
"She was waiting for you." Michael tells her.
"Mommy hug me." I nod and raise my arms towards her.
"Aww..." Mommy smiles and kisses my forehead. "Just give me a sec, honey. Let mommy take this dress off first, okay?"
"Okay." I say quietly as it's getting harder to keep my eyes open...
Mommy is changing out of her dress while Michael opens up the black, rectangular case mommy brought back.
"How much did we get?" Mommy asks him.
"Just enough to cover our next mission." Michael sighs as he's holding a bunch of money in his hand. "Barely. And... This is what we have left over. Would you like to buy groceries, ammo, or some new things for Infinity this month because we can't have all three."
"Hmm... Yes, there's something I want to get for Infinity." Mommy says after she finishes changing and lays down next to me and wraps her arms around me warmly. "We take all that money and buy ourselves a little cottage at a non-extradition country of our choice. Infinity would finally have a home..."
Those are the last words I hear as I smile a little and let my eyes close sleepily as I try to lean a little closer to mommy. The last thing I feel is mommy's lips on my forehead...

I wake up to a VERY loud, scary bang sound and the sound of a window breaking as I feel mommy's arms wrap around me and she rolls me off of the bed and down onto the floor with her.
I fall on top of mommy and don't hit the floor. "Mommy..." I whimper tearfully as I'm scared as something in my chest feels as if it's about to jump out.
"Shh... We're going to be okay." Mommy tells me just as some other gunshots sound, making me grab onto mommy tightly as I cry with a squeak.
Just then, Michael runs over and crouches down beside us. "We are surrounded. There's no way out." Michael sounds VERY worried.
But just then, we hear loud screams from the men outside and more loud gunshots. I shrink even closer to mommy and cry. "Mommy, I'm scared..."
Then, there are two black balls that rolls in through the broken window, and white smoke is coming out of them. Mommy widens her eyes and gasps as she quickly hugs me tightly to her while Michael wraps his arms around both me and mommy.
But soon my eyes starts to feel heavy and I feel a little dizzy and sleepy... The last thing I see before my eyes close is mommy and Michael looking as if they might fall asleep soon too...

I feel someone shaking me gently as I'm laying on a bed. "Infinity, honey?" Michael's voice sounds softly.
"Michael?" I whine a little and rub my almond-shaped dark brown eyes as my head feels as if there are loud drums inside it. "My head feels ouchy..."
"Shh..." Michael gives me a quick hug before looking to mommy, who's laying beside me on the bed.
"Nikita?" Michael shakes her softly.
I wrap my arms around mommy and brush my red lips on her cheek. "Mommy, kiss-kiss..."
"Sweetie?" Mommy moans quietly as she slowly opens her eyes and pulls me closer to her before continuing worriedly as she looks me up and down. "Are you okay, honey? Are you hurt?"
"Nuh-uh." I shake my head.
"Good." Mommy smiles at me before her eyes widens at Michael. "Where are we?"
"I don't know." Michael says as he pulls out a knife before slowly standing up. "Good, because who ever captured us didn't take my knife."
"It wasn't a capture, dingleberry." Birkhoff's voice sounds as he randomly pops up in front of us. "It was a rescue."
Michael's eyes widens before he quickly wraps an arm around Birkhoff's neck and points the knife towards him. Michael starts dragging him backwards as mommy stands up too, picking me up with her.
"I just saved your life, man!" Birkhoff grunts unhappily.
"What is this?" Michael says, sounding as if he doesn't really believe Birkhoff. "A safe house?"
"It's my house." Birkhoff says. "Does this look like Division? You said it yourself. I left, I'm out."
"Michael, check his tracker." Mommy says as she hugs me close to her nervously.
"Get off me, man!" Birkhoff finally pushes Michael away from him before lifting up his clothes to show a dark mark on his skin. "Removed! Duh! Did you really think that I would stay down on the farm after I decrypted Percy's black box? Amanda would have had my ass!"
"What do you mean Amanda?" Mommy sounds unhappily surprised.
"She's queen bee now." Birkhoff says. "They're keeping Percy on ice."
"Is there a bee called Amanda?" I tilt my head.
"No, honey." Mommy smiles at me a little. My oval-shaped face frowns silently. I don't understand...
"You know, I forgot how dense you guys can be." Birkhoff sounds annoyed. "You're going to make me regret doing this. And I only did it because there's just something not right about getting a four years old involved in this..."
'The word dense means stupid.' Computer mama tells me.
"Mommy and Michael aren't stupid..." I pout at Birkhoff unhappily.
Both mommy and Michael smiles as Birkhoff just rolls his eyes grumpily. "Whatever..."
"How did you manage to save us anyways?" Michael asks Birkhoff. "And how did you..."
"Beat the Division strike team?" Birkhoff interrupts. "Well, I used attack drones that are advanced, next level, illegal, and expansive. But you see, I'm not gonna be stingy, because that's okay. You know why? Because I've money. Lots and lots of money. Money that I would like to keep. A dream currently threatened by you." He points at the three of us.
I don't know why, but I REALLY want to smile. "Cha-Ching!" I point at Birkhoff with a giggle. Both mommy and Michael both laughs a little.
"Yeah, great." Birkhoff says grumpily, sounding as if he doesn't really believe what he's saying. "That's real funny. Oh, and by the way, you're going to make it clear to Division that we're not working together."
"So, you seriously rescued us so we can tell Division you're not working with us?" Michael frowns, sounding as if he can't believe something.
"They don't know who rescued you, okay?" Birkhoff mutters quietly.
"Aww..." Mommy smiles at Birkhoff before putting me in Michael's arms. "Nerd, you're lonely."
"What?" Birkhoff sounds as if he can't believe what he's hearing.
"You're lonely." Mommy says as she walks over to him. "You've no friends. And You missed us, so you saved us. Thank you." Mommy hugs him.
"Uh... I hate to break it to you guys, but there's no one who misses you guys less than me, okay?" Birkhoff sounds as if he doesn't feel comfy...

"Alright, let's go over the mission." Michael says to mommy as I'm playing with Lily. "Okay, Operation Game Change. January, 2004. Approximately one billion dollars in Iraq construction funds was heisted by terrorists."
Michael and mommy are both looking at a computer screen. "At least that's what the world was told." Mommy says.
"That's right." Michael says. "But the terrorists were really a Division strike team..."
"Wow..." Mommy shakes her head sadly. "I've seen Division cover their tracks, but this is..."
"The bigger the lie, the easier it is to believe." Michael says. "Fortunately, there was one man who saw through it all, even back then. Pentagon sent in an investigator, called him Tony Merik. Evidence left for the terrorists were left for him to find, but he found some of his own evidence, that proved that it was an inside job. Percy couldn't let that information come to light, so he buried it, and Merik."
"Killing the lead investigator would draw too much attention." Michael continues. "So he framed him, for beating an Iraqy civilian to death. He's currently serving year seven of a thirty-year prison sentence."
"This guy has evidence of an inside job." Mommy frowns. "Why isn't he using it to clear his name?"
"According to this, Tony stashed the evidence before his arrest." Michael says as he's looking at the computer screen. "He must have known he was in danger. If we can find Tony's evidence, it will expose oversight. This could be the first step to bringing them down."
"And all we have to do is break someone out of military prison to do it." Mommy smiles.
"Oh no, you don't." Michael smiles and shakes his head as if he already know what mommy's going to say. I still don't know how grown-ups do that...
"You took the casino, this one's mine." Michael finishes.
"Oh, please, you can have it." Mommy smiles and rolls her eyes as she stands up and walks over to me. Mommy sits down on the floor and hugs me from behind. "You got to stay with Infinity last time, it's my turn now." Mommy says to Michael happily.
"Mommy play with me?" I turn around to mommy and hug her happily.
"Of course, honey." Mommy smiles widely as she rubs her nose with mine.
"I'm assuming that means you won't foolishly ask me to babysit your four years old munchkin as you two are running off to some reckless mission." Birkhoff's voice sounds as he walks into the room.
"Now, why would I want to leave my daughter in your hands?" Mommy rolls her eyes at Birkhoff...

Mommy and I are playing a game. Mommy calls it: Find The Pair. Mommy's laid out cards on the floor with their backs facing us.
Mommy and I are taking turns flipping two cards each time, and if the cards don't look the same, we have to flip it back to the way it was. If they do look the same, then we pick them up and put them in a pile.
There aren't any pictures on the cards, only words. Mommy said that it will help me learn to read. Mommy picks up one of the cards that I flipped over. "Alright sweetie, do you know what this card says?" Mommy asks me as I'm sitting on her lap.
The letters on the card are F-R-O-G. I tilt my head with a frown. "Fr... Oh... Gg...?" Then, I smile before continuing. "Frog!"
"Good." Mommy smiles as she kisses my cheek.
Just then, Birkhoff walks into the room. "Hey, Michael's back with Merik." He says to us...

Vision
Alex is in a place I've never seen before. She walks into a room where Wendy and a man I've never seen before is waiting. 'His name is Sean Pierce.'
Alex narrows her eyes at Sean Pierce before raising an eyebrow at Wendy. "Your friend?"
"Not exactly." Wendy sighs and crosses her arms. "More like a nuisance who's here to keep an eye on us."
"Let me guess, Amanda." Alex says unhappily as she looks at Sean as if she REALLY wants to hit him.
"Don't worry." Wendy smiles at Alex. "I'll put him in his place if he gets in our way..."
