Chapter 30

"Drive faster, Sam, "Dean ordered as Sam sped the Impala down the road in the night air. Addy sat in his lap, a knife wound in her thigh tricking blood as she grit her teeth in pain, "Addy you okay?"

"Motherfucking demon," she growled, his hand firmly pressed over her wound to stop the bleeding, "It's just a slash wound. Why were there so many damn demons in one place?"

"I don't know," Sam replied and came to a stop once they saw a burning truck in the middle of the road.

"Shit," Dean mumbled, just as demons smashed their windows and grabbed at them, hauling them out of the car but before they could hurt them a fire truck sped up and began dousing them all with holy water. A man with a megaphone began saying an exorcism and all the demons fled from their host and dropped to the ground.

"Well that's something you don't see every day," Dean said, helping Addy to her feet.

"Who are these people?" she asked as the man who'd done the exorcism walked up to them.

"You three alright?" he asked.

Dean looked around with wide eyes at the damage they'd managed to do, "Peachy"

"Be careful. It's…dangerous around here," he said and began walking off.

"Wait," Addy called after him, "Who are you?"

"We're the Sacrament Lutheran Militia," he said, turning back to them.

"I'm sorry—the what?" Dean asked in confusion.

"I hate to tell you this, but those were demons and this is the Apocalypse. So…buckle up," he said.

The three hunters exchanged a curious look and then turned back to the man and the two men with him.

"You hunt demons?" Addy asked, looking them over.

"You three know what demons are?" one of them asked her.

"More than we'd like," she replied and Dean went over to the trunk of the Impala. They followed behind him and he popped it to reveal their arsenal.

"Looks like we're in the same line of business," Sam said.

"And among colleagues. That's a police-issued shotgun," Dean said, observing the firearms in their hands, "That truck is, uh…inspired. Where'd you guys pick up all this crap?"

"You know you pick things up along the way," one said flippantly.

Addy noted the cautious look they gave each other and she stared at the boy who couldn't have been older than eighteen at the most with a frown.

"We just want to help," Addy said, trying to put them at ease and gain their trust, "This whole town has a serious demon problem. We're not here to cause any trouble. We're like you guys. We hunt these things."

"You hunt demons?" the youngest one asked her with a smirk, "No offense but you're kind of a-"

"Girl," she said, narrowing her eyes, "And no I don't hunt demons. I kick demon ass. Stick around and you might learn something about that kid."

Dean tried to hold back a proud smile as the three men exchanged a pleasantly surprised look.

"Follow us," the one who seemed to be their leader said, "You're hurt."

She looked down at her still bleeding leg, remembering it was there and with it the pain.

"Alright then," Dean replied, "Lead the way."

SUPERNATURAL

They rolled into a ghost like town, following behind the firetruck. They parked in front of a church and walked past the demon sign at the entrance inside. Addy limped slightly with her newly bandaged leg.

When they got inside, people were sitting in the pews, a wedding ceremony being performed by a rugged priest.

"Who would have thought the Apocalypse could be so romantic? Marriage, family," the pastor paused with a far off look and Addy nudged Dean to motion to the men holding shotguns at each end of the pews, "it's a blessing. Especially in times like this. So hold on to that. "

"Wedding," Sam said with a scoff, "Seriously."

"Yeah. We've had eight so far this week," Paul, one of their rescuers, said and judging from his tone he didn't approve either.

"I need some air," Addy said, quietly leaving the church and going outside. A few minutes later, Sam and Dean emerged along with the rest of the congregation as they congratulated the newlyweds.

"This can't be real," she said to them, "Weddings in the middle of the apocalypse."

"So Rob tells me you boys hunt demons," the pastor from earlier said, coming up to them and she noted the gun holstered to his thigh.

"Yes sir," Sam said in respect.

"You missed a few," he said casually.

"Story of our lives," Addy said under her breath, "Any idea why the demons are here?"

He shook his head, "They sure seem to like us, though. Follow me, gentlemen…and lady."

He led them back inside and down some stairs into a room where people where bustiling around doing anything and everything to help.

"Is that a twelve-year-old packing salt rounds?" Dean asked.

"Everybody pitches in," the pastor replied.

"So, the whole church?" Addy asked.

"Whole town," he corrected.

"A whole town full of hunters. I don't know whether to run screaming or buy a condo," he said and Addy smirked at him.

"Well the demons were killing us. We had to do something."

"So why not call the National Guard?" Sam asked suspiciously.

"We were told not to."

"By who?" Dean asked.

The pastor didn't answer.

"It doesn't take a genius to know you've someone telling you how to do this," Addy said slowly, "The Enochian, the exorcism, the salt round. We're here to help. Nothing more."

"Look, I'm sorry, I, uh, I can't discuss it."

"Dad, it's okay."

They turned to see a girl around Addy's age with kind eyes and a reassuring smile, "It's Sam and Dean Winchester and Addy Turner. They're safe. I know all about them. From the angels. Don't worry. They can't see you here. The…marks on your ribs, right?"

"So you know all about us because angels told you?" Sam asked skeptically.

"Yes. Among other things."

"Like how to fight back," Addy said.

"Never been wrong. Not once. She's very special," the pastor said with a proud smile, putting an arm around his daughter.

"And let me guess. Before you see something, you get a really bad migraine, you see flashing lights?" Dean asked knowingly.

"How'd you know?" she asked curiously.

"Because you're not the first prophet we've met," Addy said and looked her over, "but you are the cleanest. Last one we met was a bit…off."

SUPERNATURAL

Addy sat with Dean in the local bar as Sam called Cas. It was crowded with many patrons who seemed to be almost enjoying the end of the world.

"You alright?" Dean asked, glancing at her injured leg.

She nodded and he gently put his hand to her cheek. She leaned into his touch as they stared lovingly at each other.

"I think we should be careful here," she whispered, looking around warily, "A town full of hunters sounds-"

"Too good to be true," he joked.

"I'm serious," she said with an eye roll.

"So am I," he replied, "I say when we kick this apocalypse we come back here and start one, big, gun happy family."

She scoffed and took a sip of her beer, "Already trying to tie me down?"

"More like handcuff," he said and she shook her head, "Too kinky for you?"

She leaned close, "Give it a few months and you'll learn I don't have many limits."

"Love it when you talk dirty to me," he said with a grin.

Sam cleared his throat and they backed away from each other as he sat down.

"You two getting together is both the best and worst thing I have ever seen," he said with a chuckle.

"Oh shut up," she said, trying to hide a smile, "You get a hold of Cas?"

"I left him a message. I think. So uh, what's your theory? Why all of the demon hits?" Sam asked.

"I don't know. Gank the girl? The prophet, maybe?" he offered.

"Well they're doing a shitty job of it," she said, "If they're after her than they need a better strategy. The girl's basically one giant demon killing manual."

Sam shook his head in disgust, "These angels are sending these people to do their dirty work. "

"Yeah. And?" he asked with no emotion. Addy shot him a worried look.

"And they could get hurt," she said with a frown.

"They're all gonna die. In like a month…maybe two, "he said hopelessly and she couldn't believe this was the same man who she was talking to moments before, "This is the end of the world, but these people aren't freaking out. In fact they're running to the exit in an orderly fashion. I don't know that that's such a bad thing."

"Dean we're gonna save them," Addy said simply, " That's what we said and that's what we're doing."

"Yeah," he said convincingly, putting his hand over hers, "You're right."

A bell rang loudly and everyone filed out of the bar. They looked around in confusion.

"Paul. What's going on?" Sam asked.

"Leah's had another vision," he said, shrugging on his coat and the trio exchanged a look.

"Wanna go to church?" Sam asked sarcastically.

"You know me," he began and then downed the rest of his beer, "downright pious."

They followed the crowd to church and stood in the very back as he announced the latest demon mission.

"Three miles off Talmadge Road," he said and Leah whispered something in his ear, "Five miles. There are demons gathered. I don't know how many, but a lot. Thank you, Leah. So, who's going to join me? "

Addy looked around. Rob was the first one to raise his hand, "Wouldn't miss it."

"Someone's got to cover Rob's ass," Paul said next.

Dean raised his hand, "Put us down for two ,Padre."

Addy whipped her head towards him and whispered, "I'm coming with you."

"Thank you," Pastor Gideon said and Dean shook his head at her as her jaw tightened, "I'd like to offer a prayer. "Our Father in Heaven-"

"Yeah not so much," Dean said under his breath as everyone else bowed their heads except for Paul who took out a flask and raised it to them before taking a large swig.

"Help us to fight in your name. We ask that you protect us from all servants of evil. Guide our hands in defeating them, and deliver us home, safely. Thank you, Amen," he finished his prayer and added, "Be ready to move out in thirty."

The church starts to clear and Sam shoots Dean a look which he does not return as Addy grabs him the arm and drags him into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.

"Before you say anything and tell me how I don't think you're strong enough to fight," he began before she could open her mouth, "I knew what I signed up for with you. I'm not asking you to quit hunting and I never will, but this is a group mission and I can't keep an eye on you. I know you're more than capable of defending yourself but if I can't be right by your side than I'll get distracted and get myself killed."

She stared at him with crossed arms and then her shoulders slumped in defeat as she grabbed his face and kissed him.

"Just get your ass back to me alive," she ordered when she let him go, searching his eyes, "If you die I swear I'll never forgive you."

"If you die I'm coming back to watch you in the shower," he said with a wink.

She shook her head and kissed him again.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy sat in one of the church pews, staring through one of the stained glass windows as her legs bounced non-stop. She was itching to be with Dean and Sam. She wanted a gun in her hands and a demon at the end of the barrel. She wasn't meant for this waiting for your man crap.

"He'll be fine."

She turned to see Leah who slowly took a seat next to her.

"That one of your prophecies?" she asked, running a hand through her hair in an exhausted tone.

"No," she said simply, "but from what I know about him nothing can take him down."

"Thank you, Leah."

"And from what I know about you," she began with a small smile, "You shouldn't be sitting here waiting for him."

"No, I shouldn't," she said with a sigh.

"So why are you?"

"Because he asked me to stay," she said simply, "I have to stay alive for him no matter how natural it feels to put myself in the line of fire."

"Love does crazy things huh?"

She chuckled, "Everyone seems to know that I loved him before I even did."

"You two are proclaimed soul mates," she said in an excitement, "What's it like?"

"What's what like?"

"Being lucky enough to know you're with someone who's your perfect match," she said, her big eyes shining.

"Intimidating," she answered with a chuckle as the sounds of cars approaching stopped their conversation.

"They're back," Leah said and Addy quickly stood up but not before her hand lightly brushed Leah's. A cold settled over her and she yanked it away as she looked to her. She swallowed a lump in her throat as she shook her head to clear it.

"Everything okay?" Leah asked innocently.

"Yeah," she said, blinking to clear her vision,"I should go see Dean now."

She practically ran to the front doors but the sound of sobbing stopped her. Gently, she pushed open the door and walked outside to see Dylan, the youngest of the hunters, being covered with a blanket and his parents, Jane and Rob sobbing over him.

Dean and Sam were on the sidewalk. Sam watching on in sorrow and Dean with his back turned, hunched over in what she knew was pain. She ran to him and Sam gave her a sad nod before leaving her with Dean. He had his back to her as she gently put a hand on his shoulder.

"Dean," she said softly and he didn't turn to look at her so she stepped in front of him and he still wouldn't meet her eyes, "Whatever happened it's not your fault. I know it feels like it is and you think it is but it is not your fault now look at me."

He met her eyes and she pulled him close as he buried his head in her neck.

"It's okay," she whispered, stroking his hair, "I'm right here, Dean. It's not your fault. I'm right here for you."

She met eyes with Jane who gave her a cold look through her tear filled eyes. She ignored her and continued comforting him.

SUPERNATURAL

The trio stood outside the church, watching as they carried Dylan's casket inside. Dean's fingers brushed her own and she intertwined their hands.

Dylan's parents started walking towards him and his grip on her hand tightened.

"Ma'am, we're just, um, very sorry," Dean said regretfully.

"This is your fault," she said cruelly with her still teary eyes.

"Jane. Come on," her husband said, pulling her inside.

Dean looked utterly destroyed and she continued to grip his hand as they walked inside the church and took a seat in the very back.

"I wish I knew what to say. But I don't. I'm so sorry, Jane, Rob," he began, looking to Dyaln's parents as silence filled the room, "There are no words. Dylan… I don't know why this happened. I don't know why any of this is happening. I got no easy answers. But what I do know is—Leah, honey?"

Leah had collapsed onto the floor, convulsing violently. The whole church stood up to watch and Addy exchanged a look with the brothers.

Leah sat back up, "Dad, it's Dylan."

Before her father could stop her, she got up in front of them all, "Jane, Rob… It's going to be okay. You'll see Dylan again. When the final day comes, Judgement Day, he'll be resurrected and you'll be together again. We'll all be together. With all our loved ones. We've been chosen. The angels have chosen us. And we will be given paradise on earth. All we have to do is follow the angels' commandments."

Leah meets Addy's eyes and her vision blurs as if looking at her made it hard for her to focus.

People started to file out.

"You guys go ahead," Addy said, still staring at Leah, "I'll catch up with you later."

"Where are you going?" Dean asked, holding her hand tight.

"To talk to Leah," she said and gave him a kiss on the cheek, "I'll be right back."

She got up and pushed through the crowd. Leah was already moving away and she followed after her with difficulty. She disappeared in a room and when Addy came in she was lying on the couch, her hand to her forehead.

"Hi Addy," she said with a smile and it was still painful to look at her too long, "Come sit."

Without meeting her eyes, she took a seat next to her, "It must hurt to have visions."

"Can't complain," she said with a small smile that Addy saw out of the corner of her eye, "I know you have it worse with that whole Lucifer thing and being Lilith."

"I'm not Lilith," she said quicker than she intended.

"But you look like her," she said in confusion, "And you have her power."

Addy looked to her despite the pain in her head, "How bad this apocalypse going to get Leah?"

"There's gonna be a prize-fight. And…it's gonna get bad. But after we win—and we will—the planet gets handed over to the chosen. And…it's finally peaceful. No monsters, no disease, no death. You're just…with the people you love."

Addy scoffed, "If you're good enough for paradise that is."

"Is it hard?" Leah asked.

"What?" she asked, growing annoyed as she put her aching head in her hands.

"Being with Dean," she said and Addy looked up but not at her, "He's the vessel of heaven but he has no hope. How do you keep going if he's your only source of motivation? He's so broken and faithless. Surely it must be exhausting to pick up the pieces."

She looked to her with cold eyes, "What are you Leah?"

She feigned confusion, "I'm a prophet, Addy."

She stood up, standing over her, "It hurts to look at you. It's like I can't focus on your face. Now tell me, Leah. What. Are. You."

"Addy if this is what I said about Dean I meant no offense I-" she began, standing up and Addy stepped up to her, their eyes level.

"No you did mean to offend me. Insulting Dean and calling me Lilith in that sweet little voice of yours" she said, narrowing her eyes, "but I can't tell if you're just a bitchy pastor's daughter or there's something else going on here."

She smirked, "Jealous that my power comes from heaven and not a whore from hell."

The headache she got from looking at her was too much and she stepped away, rubbing her forehead.

"Maybe it hurts to look at me because the evil inside you is in pain at the sight of good," she said coldly, "Have you thought that maybe your Lilith is finally coming in? Maybe it's like a demon and holy water? It burns to be cleansed by a heaven sent prophet."

"No," she said, the pain spreading through her whole body and she groaned in pain, dropping to her knees.

"Well you're smart because that's not it," she heard her say and Leah's hands gripped her face. The cold she felt iced through her and she tried to scream but no sound escaped her throat, " You're right. I'm no prophet. I'm a little upset my mask doesn't work on you though. Just a little tweaking and…oh I forgot Lucifer made you untouchable…good thing I like to bend the rules."

The cold continued to fill her until she blacked out.
