Chapter 33

"Mom I don't have time to talk right now," Addy said, pacing the length of the front porch as she talked on the phone.

"Something's very wrong. I can feel it."

"My boyfriend's suicidal and handcuffed down in a panic room by an angel who beat the shit out him, his half-brother's been angel napped, and I'm trying to stop the apocalypse is what's wrong!"

"That's a fairly good reason," she replied after moments of silence.

She sighed, "Mom, just let me call you back I-"

"Honey you're not the only one suffering the repercussions. Everything's off balance. I've talked to a few of my friends. Everyone's powers, Light and Dark, are becoming unpredictable. "

"It's Lucifer," she said with a sigh, "He's screwing with the balance to get ready to fight Michael."

"And you have no way to stop him?"

"Mom, listen to me," she whispered, "Things may get bad. Really bad and when it does I need you to take Missouri and Megan and hide. Don't tell me where you're going just go. I'll call you when it's safe."

"Not without you sweetheart," she said and as expected she was tearing up.

"You may not have a choice," she said, leaning against the wooden railing, "If this goes south and we can't win there'll be people coming after me and they'll use you to get to me. I don't want that so just please do as I ask. Promise me you'll go."

"Honey come home," she pleaded, "You have that apartment with Megan. You can live here. Let Sam and Dean figure this out."

"Mom, I'm a part of this. I can't go."

"And what about after this is done. Will you come home then or will you continue to put your life in danger? You call me so rarely and I haven't seen you in months. Every time I get off the phone with you I think it's the last time I'll hear your voice."

"Mom I can't talk about this now."

"So when?" she yelled for the first time, "When will we discuss the fact that all you do is run around asking for death. You are my daughter and I am your mother. Come home!"

"I can't!" she yelled and then took a deep breath, "I won't do this right now. I'll call you back."

"Kitten Adriana Turner don't you dare-"

Before she could finish, she ended the call knowing she'd have hell to pay.

She went back inside and Sam greeted her at the door, "You okay?"

"My mom's worried," she said with a shrug, "How is he?"

"Knocked out for now," he said and then reluctantly added, "What are we going to do about Adam?"

"I don't know," she said tiredly, "I don't know what we're going to do about any of this, but we do have to go get Adam."

"Just the two of us?"

"Well, we've got Cas and I don't know how much help Bobby'll be," she said quietly, " I can see if we've got any other hunters close by but I'm not sure how many of them know about the whole Lucifer thing."

"No, I mean…" he trailed off, afraid to say it.

"You wanna let Dean free," she said with wide eyes.

"I know it's not ideal but I don't think he'll do it. I think when it comes time to make the choice he'll make the right one."

"Okay."

"I thought you might say that but…" he trailed off, realizing she'd agreed with him, "You think we should take him with us too."

"You're right," she said, "Push comes to shove and he won't do it. We need the manpower and Dean's all we got. Maybe if we show him how much we trust him he won't feel the need to go kill himself."

Her voice cracked on the last word and she inhaled a deep breath.

"Addy don't worry," he said comfortingly, "It'll be alright."

"I know," she said with nod, "I'm just tired is all."

"Like tired of fighting?" he asked carefully.

She rolled her eyes, "No, Sam like tired as in if I wasn't running on adrenaline and energy drinks I'd be passed out on the ground."

"Oh," he said in relief.

"You can count on me," she said with a small smile.

"I know. If anything I know that."

SUPERNATURAL

"Where the hell are we?" Dean asked as they stood outside the abandoned factory warehouse they were supposedly keep Adam in.

"Van Nuys, California," Cas said matter of factly.

"Where's the beautiful room?"

"In there."

"The beautiful room is in an abandoned muffler factory in Van Nuys, California?"

"Why is that such a shock?" Addy asked, surveying the joint.

"I thought the damn place would be on Jupiter or a fucking blade of grass. Not Van Nuys."

"Tell me again why you don't just grab Adam and shazam the hell out of there," Sam said to Cas.

"Because there are at least five angels in there,"

"So how are we going to get past the holy cavalry?" she asked, "What's the plan?"

"I'll clear them out. You two grab the boy. This is our only chance," he said and they exchanged an alarmed look.

"Whoa, wait. You're gonna take on five angels?" she asked.

"That's suicide," Dean added.

"Maybe it is. But then I won't have to watch you fail. I'm sorry, Dean. I don't have the same faith in you that Sam and Addy do."

Cas pulled a box cutter from his coat pocket.

"What the hell are you going to do with that?" Sam asked.

SUPERNATURAL

The hunting trio entered the warehouse to see an angel Cas had slain on the ground, but him nowhere in sight. They go to the door right outside the beautiful room, backs to either side of the door.

Addy met eyes with Dean on opposite sides of the door. This was their moment of truth. He could go in there and destroy her heart or prove to be the man she knew he was and she had to believe it was the latter.

She gave him a nod and they barged in, guns raised. First Dean, then Sam, then her and Adam was huddled in a corner, blood coming from his mouth.

"Adam, hey," Dean said, pulling him up just like he'd done with the brother he'd known all his life.

"You came for me," he said in confusion and shock.

"Yeah, well, you're family," he replied simply.

"Dean, it's a trap," Adam rasped in pain.

"I figured," he said just as Zachariah appeared and they all stiffened.

"Dean, please. Did you really think it would be that easy?" he mocked.

"Did you?" he replied and Sam came at the angel from behind with an angel blade. He simply knocked it out of his hand and threw Sam into the wall.

"Sam!" Addy called, going to him but Zachariah caught her by the throat and held her against the wall without even looking.

"You know what I've learned from this experience, Dean? Patience," he said and he waved his hand towards Adam. The poor kid fell to the ground coughing up blood.

"Let them go, you son of a bitch," Dean demanded.

"I mean, I thought I was downsized for sure. And for us, a firing...pretty damn literal. But I should have trusted the boss man. It's all playing out like he said...You, me, your hemorrhaging brothers," he said and then Sam fell to the ground, blood spewing violently from his mouth as well. Zachariah looked to Addy and tightened his hand on her throat, "and you're little bitch who can't seem to keep her pretty nose out of big boy business."

"You don't seem like the type to have a big-" before she could finish he tightened his hand so much she couldn't talk, let alone breathe. A pained whimper left her throat as she clawed at his hand for air. Stars crossed her vision.

"Let her go you bastard!" Dean yelled, "Let her go right now!"

"You're finally ready, right?" the angel asked and raised her further up the wall so her feet brushed the floor. Tears left the corners of her eyes.

"Dean no," she whispered out as she gasped for air.

Dean frantically looks from his brothers, coughing blood on the ground to Addy as she fought at Zachariah's hold on her throat," You know there's no other choice. There's never been a choice."

"Stop it. Stop it right now!" Dean yelled as Addy's resolve to fight began slipping away.

"In exchange for what?" Zachariah asked, loosening his grip on her, "Better hurry or I snap her neck."

"Damn it, Zachariah. Stop it, please. I'll do it."

"Don't do it, Dean" Addy said as loud as she could muster, "I'm right here. I'm-"

His hold on her throat became iron and he said, "Say it again."

"Okay, yes. The answer is yes," Dean said brokenly.

Zachariah drops her to the ground and she slides to the floor, clutching her throat and gaping at Dean in tears.

"Dean no," Sam coughs.

"Do you hear me? Call Michael down, you bastard!" he demanded.

"How do I know you're not lying?" Zachariah asked with narrowed eyes.

He met Addy's eyes and said," I'm not."

With a grin Zachariah turns and begins chanting in Enochian, as the room began to quake with the threat of Michael "Zodiredo…noco…aberamage…nazodpesade… He's coming. "

Dean kept her gaze as tears escaped her eyes and rough breaths from her throat.

She shook her head at him with a quivering lip and mouths, "I love you."

Instead of mouthing it back like she expected, he did the strangest but the most Dean like thing he could ever do. The bastard winked at her with a smirk. She frowned in confusion and then he looked to Zachariah.

"Of course, I have a few conditions," he said and she met eyes with Sam, both of them completely perplexed.

"What?" the angel asked in confusion as he turned back to Dean.

"The few people whose safety you have to guarantee before I say yes."

"Sure, fine. Make a list," he said dismissively.

"But most of all…" he paused and then smiled knowingly," Michael can't have me until he disintegrates you."

"What did you say?"

"I said…before Michael gets one piece of this sweet ass…he has to turn you into a piece of charcoal," he said and Addy grinned as she realized that he wasn't giving up. He was solving a problem.

"You really think Michael's gonna go for that?" the angel asked with a bitter laugh.

"Who's more important to him now? You…or me?" he challenged.

"You listen to me. You are nothing but a maggot inside a worm's ass. Do you know who I am after I deliver you to Michael?" he threatened, getting in Dean's face.

"Expendable," he replied simply, "Me. I'm one of a kind. "

Zachariah scoffed, "You're Satan slut girlfriend tell you that?"

"No, my girlfriend who kicks ass and I admit is a bit too much of a smart ass for her own good told me that and if you keep on calling her a slut I promise I'll ask Michael to kill you slowly," he threatened with cold eyes.

"Michael's not gonna kill me," he insisted, "And certainly not because I insulted your little whore."

"Maybe not. But I am," he said and the angel blade slid from his sleeve and into Zachariah's chest as the room filled with a bright light and the now familiar ear piercing noise of a coming angel, "I told you not to call her that again."

His eyes turned white and Addy's eyes widened as she watched him kill the stunned Zachariah and then shove him to the ground. When he looked to her, his eyes were green.

She scrambled up, "Reunion later. Let's get out of here."

He nodded in agreement as he went to help Sam and she went for Adam.

"Can you walk?" she asked as the light and noise got unbearable.

"Yeah," he replied and she pulled him up so they could run out behind Sam and Dean.

"Move it!" Dean orders and just as she's out the door it slams shut behind her, locking Adam in.

"Adam!" she calls out and begins frantically pulling at the handle. It wouldn't budge.

"No! Help! It won't open!" he called from the other side as the brothers began helping her try to open the door.

"Dean, help! Dean!" he called out with pure fear in his voice.

"Hold on! We'll get you out. Just hold on. Adam! Can you hear me?" Dean yelled and then suddenly everything went silent and when Addy shoved open the door it was nothing more than an abandoned office and Dean whispered, "Adam?"

SUPERNATURAL

They drove into the night, all of them squeezed into the front seat. When she'd tried to take her usual spot in the back Dean had maneuvered her so she could sit between him and Sam. Now she was next to him, shoulder to shoulder, the hand he wasn't driving with in hers.

"You think Adam's okay?" Sam asked, breaking the silence.

"Doubt it," Dean replied with a sigh, "Cas either. But we'll get 'em."

"So."

"So what?"

"So we saw your eyes, Dean," Addy said, speaking for the first time, "I saw it. You said yes and for a second Michael was in there. Why'd you stop?"

"Honestly? The damndest thing. I mean, the world's ending. The walls are coming down on us, and I look over to you and Sam and all I can think about is, these stupid sons of a bitches brought me here. I just didn't want to let you two down," he replied with a squeeze of her hand.

"You didn't. You almost did. But you didn't."

"I owe you an apology," Sam said, glancing at his brother.

"No, man. No, you don't."

"Just let me say this. I don't know if it's being a big brother or what, but to me, you've always been this snot-nosed kid that I've had to keep on the straight and narrow. I think we both know that that's not you anymore. I mean, hell, if you're grown-up enough to find faith in me…the least I can do is return the favor. So screw destiny, right in the face. I say we take the fight to them, and do it our way."

"Sounds good," Sam said and she saw the corner of his lips twitch in a smile.

She looked between the two brothers with a smirk and then put her head on Dean's shoulder and held his hand tighter. Then she whispered in his ear so only he could hear her say, "I told you so."

"You always do, princess, " he whispered back and kissed her forehead.
