This chapter was finished a lot earlier then expected, so here you go!
Potter stood in the middle of the room, his eyes haunted as they flicked anxiously back and forth. Voldemort, Bellatrix and Lucius observed carefully, Severus too stood in the shadows, his eyes scanning the boy, his lips curled up in amusement.
"My Lord" Bellatrix whispered bowing low, her dark eyes dancing in delight as she grinned.
The purpose for their meeting was a simple one, to demonstrate that Potter would kill, only then could they move forwards.
Severus had insisted that the best way to draw out Weasley and Granger was to place Potter back in the school, all they would have to do then was wait.
Bellatrix stepped forward, and in turn Potter stepped back afraid but he didn't speak, his eyes darting from hers to Voldemort's.
Bellatrix pulled out a large beautifully knife, it's blade shimmering and it's hilt covered in extravagant gems.
She held it delicately, as she approached Potter who stiffened.
"Take it" She hissed softly, her lips curling into a mocking smile.
Voldemort did not expect the boy to move, so it was a surprise when Potter responded at once, his whole composure calm as he took the bladed knife in hand.
Potter paused, his eyes lingering on the sharp tip as he held it up before him, a cold and distant look now shifting onto his face.
Bellatrix was beaming as she waved her wand and summoned two blank manikins into the room. Potter's stance didn't shift as his eyes flicked over them.
"Again My Lord" Bellatrix explained, now watching excitedly. "Potter has the imperius curse influencing his mind. He is programmed to see Weasley and the mudblood" She hissed.
Voldemort knew this as Potter moved slightly, the blade held skilfully and controlled in his grip, his blank expression gave nothing away as his eyes only observed.
Potter stepped forwards slowly, his rhythm not faltering as the knife hung gently by his side.
And then the boy struck quick and fast, the blade moving as it sank deep into the blank figure.
Voldemort's eyes gleamed as a cold smirk flicked onto his face. This was true success, he watched as Potter only twisted the knife in deep, the effect causing what would be a deadly wound.
Never had Lord Voldemort imagined to have such control and power over the boy, even throughout Potter's imprisonment he had fought back, unyielding.
Potter was grinning disturbed, his eyes shinning with madness as he surveyed what would soon be his prey. The other blank figure too had been easily struck down, it's deep cut easy to see.
The boy looked less calm now, as he held the blade tightly, swaying gently on the spot.
Bellatrix stepped forwards and bowed deeply.
"He's very adaptable My Lord" Bellatrix grinned wickedly. "Tom has done extraordinary work."
Voldemort expected nothing less as she continued eagerly under his scrutinising gaze.
"Potter has been covered in all the basics, he will attack upon hearing their voices, seeing their faces, feeling their embrace." His death eater explained, eager for his appraisal.
"Is there any way he can fight it?" Voldemort asked sharply.
Bellatrix's unpleasant grin widened. "Potter is too far gone for that." She stepped cautiously towards the boy as his stance stiffened, clearly observing if she was a threat or not.
He didn't react however as she stood close to him before raising her arm and running her hand gently through his hair.
The boy responded at once, his aggressive stance changing to one that was much more relaxed, as he handed her the knife carefully. His eyes dark but no longer wary, he only obeyed.
"Our options are numerous" She expanded with a smirk, still gently stroking her hand through Potter's messy hair. Bellatrix's voice was soft, full of nothing but pure evil as she whispered, her eyes scanning over Potter with a smirk. "Potter is no more then a weapon My Lord. I have been experimenting if you would like me to demonstrate"
Voldemort nodded, the cold smile on his face widening in amusement.
However now her expression faulted as she looked guilty.
"Forgive me My Lord" She whispered, as if she had committed a great crime against him.
Voldemort felt his temper and his curiosity rise as one, Bellatrix always obeyed.
"This was Toms idea" She said stiffly, although holding herself proud. "He commanded me to use your name My Lord"
Here she fell forwards onto her knees, waiting for her punishment.
Voldemort however only scanned his eyes across Potter. The boy was waiting patiently, almost as if he was in a trance like state.
Ignoring Bellatrix he stood, and stepped closer to Potter his footsteps light as his mouth curled into a smirk, eager to see the results.
"Lord Voldemort" He hissed.
At once, Potter jerked into life, his eyes only flicking up for the briefest of moments before he moved falling forward onto his knees, his head bowed low.
Voldemort's grin widened.
"Stand Bellatrix" He commanded.
Surprised but obviously pleased his death eater stood and moved to his side, her wicked grin returning.
"If I can show you another?" She pressed on eagerly. Lucius and Severus who had been waiting quietly also seemed intrigued to see more.
Bellatrix stepped up close as she moved her mouth close to the boys ear.
"Albus Dumbledore" She breathed, just loud enough for the Dark Lord to hear.
At once the boy ceased up, his body rigid as his eyes widened in horror and fear. He dropped to the floor as struggling against unrelenting pain.
Voldemort watched as Bellatrix explained.
"Potter has been trained to associate certain words with feelings and emotions, it is this that drives him. The old fools name, for example, is associated to unbearable pain, Potter is not hurt physically only influenced to create it in his mind" She smirked.
Voldemort nodded, and gestured his hand sharply for it to stop. Potter was damaged but there was no need to make him unusable.
Bellatrix nodded and knelt down carefully. Again to calm him, she traced her fingers through his hair. Potter instantly stilled, although now he was looking distinctively distraught, his dull green eyes pained and afraid as he stayed deadly still.
Bellatrix sighed heavily. "Unfortunately the boy does fight back, but only after he has had time to adapt to a situation, otherwise it is a struggle"
As if on cue Potter weakly pushed her hand away as he curled in on himself, arms wrapping around his knees as if offering some protection.
Voldemort stared down at him coldly.
"Will this influence our over all goal?" Voldemort hissed, a horrible smile forming on his face.
She smirked and dipped her head into a bow as she stood, no longer crouching next to the boy. "Potter is still himself that is the beauty of it, but Tom will keep him submissive and quiet, it is only these triggers which will cause him to be under the full influence of our control and will be most affective when he cannot counter them. Our plan will not fail My Lord, that I can guarantee"
"Good" Voldemort replied feeling satisfied. "You have done well."
Again she dropped to the ground, bowing deeply. "Thank you My Lord" She beamed as she crawled forwards and kissed the hem of his cloak.
Voldemort was still watching Potter. The boy was curled up, his knees drawn close, his hands pressed tightly over his ears as his eyes were clenched shut, it looked like he was struggling against some unseeing ghost that was tormenting him but Lord Voldemort knew better.
He waved his wand and directed it at Potter.
At once Potter shifted, his head snapping up to stare at him, a cruel smirk flitting across his face.
"You are pleased My Lord?" Tom whispered, stumbling slightly as he stood.
Voldemort nodded, If he hadn't planned on sucking Potter's soul out with a dementor he would certainly have continued to use the boy to this affect.
"You have done very well" He hissed as Tom too grinned at the praise.
Never had he imagined his Horcrux would be so promising.
Now Voldemort turned to the potions master who was watching Tom with an expressionless face.
"I will take no further chances" Voldemort instructed clearly and coldly. "Poison the blade"
"My Lord" Snape responded instantly with a sharp bow of his head.
Bellatrix stood by Tom's side, she looked delighted as the young dark lord stepped forwards and presented himself.
"The interesting thing is Potter's consciousness" His Horcrux grinned coldly. "Potter is semi-aware of my control"
"Potter is awake?" Voldemort asked delicately, his voice soft and full of intrigue.
Tom nodded and Voldemort felt a rush of his Horcrux's emotion back at him, it was full of triumph and a very dark shade of fear.
"A result of the dementors, he is conscious, although quiet" Tom responded lightly without mercy. "I am not sure if he is capable of following my actions. It is more like he is trapped in darkness"
"Do you have any doubts to our plan?" Voldemort hissed.
Tom's face split into a very sharp smile, his eyes haunted and cold as he gave his conformation. "No My Lord. The boy will kill with no hesitation" His Horcrux stated. "I can guarantee that"
Voldemort smirked, it would not be long now and then he would have everything.
"You have one task" Voldemort commanded. Tom was locked on listening carefully.
"My Lord. I will not fail you" He dropped to his knees his head bowed low.
"See it done" Voldemort commanded, gesturing for Snape to step forwards. "Severus will return you to Hogwarts immediately"
Tom stood eagerly. "My Lord" He breathed.
Snape stepped forwards at once waiting for Tom to follow.
Bellatrix stepped forwards, knife in hand. "Keep it safe" She whispered fondly.
Tom took it and twisted it around, scanning it briefly. He only moved it quickly behind his back, to hide it magically from view.
Tom turned and bowed deeply to his Lord before finally following the headmaster out of the darkened chamber.
No sooner had his Horcrux and Snape left, Voldemort switched his focus immediately.
"Bellatrix, leave us" He commanded at once.
A cold look appeared on her face as she eyed Lucius suspiciously, clearly jealous at his instructions. However she only smiled unpleasantly and bowed low. "Of course My Lord"
She promptly left.
Now alone, Voldemort stood in the dark chamber facing Lucius Malfoy who stood waiting.
"I have a specific task for you Lucius" Voldemort explained, he would have the missing pieces to solve Dumbledore's riddle.
"Anything My Lord" The blonde responded curtly, his voice curious and intrigued.
Voldemort continued clearly. "I need you to bring me the other bequests from Dumbledore's will. Specifically what was left for Potter's friends"
"Of course My Lord" He answered, before too leaving the Dark Lord to his thoughts.
Xxxxxxxxxxx
Tom smirked as he settled down on a comfortable lavish green sofa, his feet propped up on the coffee table as the waited for two specific death eaters. It was good to be back at Hogwarts so soon, he certainly was fond of the castle regardless of his previous thoughts. After all, soon he would be able to walk freely without risking Potter's control.
Snape had done a lot to be accommodating to him, his own personal chambers had been arranged so he did not have to mingle with the students or teachers. It was his Lords request that he remain as safe as possible in school.
Of course they needed Tom's presence to be leaked out the Order but that didn't mean they should be foolish and flaunt Potter to them, they would take him easily if they dropped their guard. The cards were balanced precariously now, any wrong movement could sway the outcome either way. The situation had to be handled carefully.
Which was why Tom was waiting for two death eaters to be brought to him directly. Longbottom was the key figure here, and the most likely link to the Order.
Tom mused to himself as the entrance to his chambers opened.
He remained seated as both Longbottom and Malfoy were presented to him by Snape before the headmaster left briskly.
Malfoy dropped to his knees at once but his frustrations only lingered as Longbottom stood before him, still as a statue his mouth a gape before his eyes hardened, quickly getting over his shock as it turned to anger.
He lunged forwards, snarling as he drew his own wand.
Tom was quick as he used Potter's own to counter Longbottom's curse. Malfoy too raised his own making Longbottom outnumbered. This didn't stop him though as he kept his own locked on Tom.
"What the hell?" He demanded, eyes glowering with rage.
Tom's expression hardened but only jerked his head towards Malfoy. The Slytherin obeyed immediately as he lowered his wand, but continued to watch carefully as Longbottom failed to lower his own.
"Missed me?" Tom mocked, although his tone was anything but sweet.
Longbottom glared his fists tightening, another curse seeming to linger on his lips.
"Don't you dare" Longbottom seethed.
Tom stood fluently, not impressed by his death eaters disobedience.
"You dare give me orders Longbottom?" He hissed dangerously.
Malfoy shifted and Tom shot him a glare.
"I won't listen to you" Longbottom snapped. "It's Harry that matters, I don't care what you do to me" He hissed defiantly
Tom's hardened expression shifted into one of immediate amusement.
"Oh how sweet" Tom hissed. "Unfortunately for you, Potter's well being is my well being"
Longbottom shook his head, pain clearly in his eyes, the fool. If he was going to be any use then his attitude would have to change, it was becoming more and more likely that he would have to dispose of the boy. Fortunately for Longbottom he was still needed. Tom was certain the DA would be the most efficient way to do this.
Longbottom retorted to his last statement "No. You grow stronger as Harry grows weaker."
Tom smirked coldly. "Yet you must protect me to save Potter" He countered cruelly.
"I will not protect you" Longbottom seethed furiously.
"Crucio" Tom reacted so quickly it caught the Gryffindor off guard as he sank to the floor, wand rolling out of his limp grip as he screamed.
Malfoy remained still, as he waited for Tom to finish.
"You will make sure Longbottom knows where he stands" He warned the blonde dangerously.
Malfoy bowed his head low at this command.
"Of course My Lord" He replied at once above Longbottom's continued screams as Tom held him under his curse easily.
Tom withdrew his curse.
Longbottom remained on the floor at his feet gasping for breath, struggling to control his shaking body.
"You are to report to me if Weasley and Granger enter the castle" Tom commanded icily, staring down at him.
Longbottom in turn looked at him furiously as he attempted to push his weakened body up.
"Why would I know if they do?" He spat, his words surprisingly chosen carefully despite his pain.
Tom raised his eyebrows a slight grin twisting onto his face, how very Slytherin of him. "Really Longbottom" He teased. "You shouldn't play these games"
He twirled Potter's wand idly between his fingers, as his gaze sharpened now, all hint of amusement vanishing.
"You shall do this or I shall personally destroy each and everyone of your beloved Dumbledore's Army" Tom hissed cruelly.
Longbottom stood shaking as he snapped his fists clenched in anger, he still fought on despite Tom was ready to curse him once more. "So betray my friends so you don't kill my other friends? What's the point?" He challenged.
Tom smirked and answered not missing a beat "Collateral damage. There are more in the DA than Weasley and Granger, would you really condemn them all?"
Longbottom sneered at him, ignoring Malfoy entirely. "I don't care" He retorted. "The DA have other options, they can make that decision for themselves, but I will not hand Ron and Hermione to you on any circumstance"
Tom's expression darkened as he raised his wand once more, Longbottom fell screaming.
Tom held him in agony, his own hand steady as he didn't even blink, no remorse as Longbottom twitched and struggled on the stone cold floor.
He released him and the boy tried to struggle up, but Tom only stepped forwards pushing his foot hard down onto Longbottom's chest, his wand trained on his head. Longbottom at once stilled, lying still, his furious eyes glaring up at Tom's own.
"Listen carefully" Tom said, his voice deadly cold. "If you for any minute think that your precious DA can escape the castle then all means try, but do not think this will stop me from personally hunting them all and killing and torturing each and everyone of their families."
Longbottom remained silent, his body still as Tom continued. "I will hurt everyone they hold dear, do you think Weasley and Granger will thank you for that?" he mocked "You will be responsible for everyone who suffers unnecessarily"
Longbottom found his voice as he snapped. "No, you will be the cause for that. Either way you are implying that I will be responsible for someone's deaths but I'm not the one pointing the wand"
Tom smirked, Longbottom certainly was amusing. "Correct, but you still get the decision on who dies regardless. You will still be responsible"
Tom removed his foot from the Gryffindor's chest as the boy pushed himself up, he was glaring angrily but satisfyingly Longbottom didn't retort to this. He only clamped his mouth shut tightly, his own wand still held tightly.
Tom smirked "Do we have an agreement?"
Longbottom didn't answer, he just shoved past him and walked down the corridor not saying a word.
Satisfied Tom only gestured to Malfoy with a waving hand. "You may leave" He instructed.
Xxxxxxxxxxxx
No sooner had they made it round the corridor did Malfoy grab him by the shoulder and spin him around sharply, his face livid with fury.
"There was a time and a place Longbottom" Malfoy hissed, his voice low.
"Don't lecture me" Neville spat, he was shaking with rage as he ripped himself away from Malfoy's grip. "How could you just stand there?" He jabbed, almost tempted to draw his wand.
Malfoy stiffened, his expression cold and masked. "I told you before that it would be better if Potter never woke up and what would I gain from standing up to the Dark Lord? Your position is unique as you have something the Dark Lord needs "
Neville barely refrained from hitting the blonde.
"If that's the case it didn't matter what I said to Tom" He spat. "I will not fight for him, only Harry matters."
"Regardless" Malfoy's eyes sharpened, his mouth curling up into a cold smirk. "You're acting like such a idiotic Gryffindor. He will still kill you and then what help can you be?"
"Just what's the point?" Neville retaliated. "I am done playing both Tom and Voldemort's games."
Malfoy jerked slightly at the name, but retaliated harshly.
"Fine. Just let him kill you all" He snapped coldly.
Neville felt his insides churn, Ron and Hermione. That's who Tom was after, it all boiled down to this. He was just as helpless as he always was, being pulled by other peoples strings unable to do anything he truly believed to be right.
Harry had always been his priority but even now that was shifting as he failed to help him. What good was he. He kicked a suit of armour, his throbbing foot doing nothing to ease his mind.
Malfoy thankfully didn't say anything as Neville walked away.

Seamus flicked his eyes up, he had been waiting anxiously for his friend to re-enter the common room for the last half an hour. Ever since Neville had been called away by Snape had he immediately been suspicious.
The common room was relatively quiet as Neville sat down in an armchair beside him, sinking back with a heavy sigh.
"Are you alright?" Seamus asked.
Neville didn't answer, his friend looked drained and tired as he shook his head.
"What happened?" He pressed, he always trusted his instinct and something told him that what he was waiting for had happened.
Neville didn't reply, he only pressed both of his hands into his face.
"It's Harry isn't it?" Seamus pushed, watching Neville's reaction carefully.
At once Neville stiffened, bingo Seamus thought as he waited for Neville's confirmation.
"Yeah" Neville whispered. "He's back. Tom that is" Neville bit out but Seamus didn't need anything more.
Xxxxxxxxxxx
Seamus waited until Neville had eventually retired to bed. He was starting to get tired and restless but he had to wait, he needed to do what he had been asked. It was vitally important for Harry.
"Dobby" He whispered, at once there was a loud crack as a positively beaming house elf appeared on command.
"Yes Mister Seamus" The elf bounced up and down, a very odd knitted hat placed precariously on his head.
Seamus glanced around before nodding towards Dobby with a whisper. "He's back in the castle."
The elf stilled briefly before a sad look now replaced his happy features. "Yes Mister Seamus. I will inform Professor McGonagall as instructed"
"Thank you" Seamus whispered, this time they wouldn't fail Harry.

Voldemort stood, two items hovering before him, Dumbledore's old lighter circling him slowly as he eyed the more curious one.
A book of fairy tales, he had already established that there would be a message hidden in the book. Dumbledore had left it to Potter's mudblood friend and Severus had informed him that she was the more intelligent of the group.
His eyes scanned the pages, not wasting time in reading the nonsense before him. He doubted there would be anything in the stories, after all his death eaters had already screened them multiple times. Voldemort had just never thought the items would be connected, but he had to cover ever possibility to decipher Dumbledore's message to the boy. The ring made no sense to be given to Potter, it was no longer a part of him.
It took Voldemort only a few moments more of scanning the pages before his eyes narrowed dangerously as they focused onto a very familiar mark that was clearly pencilled in.
"Lucius" Voldemort hissed.
At once Lucius Malfoy who had been waiting silently bowed low not rising until he had been commanded.
"What do you see?" He asked, waving his wand to move book towards his death eater, it's page still open.
Lucius scanned the page in seconds.
"Grindelwalds mark My Lord?" he questioned, a frown forming.
Voldemort nodded, as his own thoughts swirled around his head. There was no reason the mark should be in the book, Dumbledore had clearly put it in himself, but as a sign to what. There was more information he needed.
Grindelwald was dead now anyway and he doubted Dumbledore would be pushing the boy in the former dark wizards direction.
Voldemort pointed with his long finger. "I need you to investigate this symbol" He commanded.
Malfoy stepped forwards and squinted through the dim flickering light as he took the hovering book in his hands.
"Of course My Lord" He answered obediently.
Voldemort eyed him coldly, his own frustrations building. "You have twenty four hours"

Neville was sitting in the Gryffindor common room, there were few students dotted around as he rubbed his head in frustration. He had been trying to plan out a way to protect the DA, Tom's threat was still lingering clearly in his mind.
There must be a way for all of them to evacuate the castle, after all if Ron and Hermione managed to get in, there had to be a way out. Harry had only been in the castle for a day and already he felt as hopeless to defend him as he usually did.
Frustrated he sat back, chewing the end of his quill hoping that some great idea would come to him. The problem was everything was out of their control. Tom and Voldemort had control over Harry and in turn the DA, there had to be a way to fix everything, to bring hope back to them all.
The common room door opened, surprised Neville turned, it was late, the darkness already shut out by the long drapes, no one should be out.
Seamus was practically bouncing as he rushed over to Neville a grin on his face. Neville blinked, he had been so distracted he hadn't noticed his friend leave the common room, he thought he had been up in the dormitory.
"Why the hell have you not been checking your coin?" He started, at once grabbing Neville by the arm and pulling him up.
Neville shifted, nearly losing his balance, startled by how much energy Seamus was projecting.
"What the hell are you on about?" He started, allowing Seamus to pull him out of the common room.
Seamus didn't answer, he only grinned as he gestured for Neville to follow, now walking briskly in the direction of the room of requirements.
Curiously Neville followed. "What's-" He began.
"Just wait and see" Seamus insisted.
Xxxxxxxxxx
Neville entered the room of requirements, a horrible twisting sensation in his stomach. His uneasiness turned to one of delight and horror as his eyes scanned around the surprisingly packed room.
"Isn't this great?" Seamus started at once pulling him through the crowds.
"What? How?" Neville stumbled, most of the DA were present, but they weren't the only people . Ginny was standing amongst her family, the flaming red hair sticking out clearly. Professor Lupin was also there, and also a few others that Neville distinctly remembered seeing their portraits in the Daily Prophet for undesirables.
But no one else drew his attention like the brown haired girl and the red haired boy standing side by side, talking to Luna, Parvati and Lavender.
Neville couldn't help himself.
"Why are you here?" Neville bit out loudly.
His questioned seemed to float above the noise as a horrible silence descended. His question still met his targets though as Ron and Hermione turned in his direction, surprise crossing their faces.
There was an awkward pause as gazes flicked between them both.
Seamus looked apologetically in their direction as if he was responsible for Neville's behaviour.
Thankfully Ron decided to answer.
"Isn't that obvious?" Ron said, crossing his arms and giving Neville a very pointed look. It was odd to see them again after months. Both of them looked well but pale and determined. Neville couldn't image what they had been through without Harry by their side.
Neville's mouth was dry as he answered "Harry"
Ron shot Hermione a quick glance before he responded.
"Or you could say we've come to deal with Tom" Ron stated coldly, his expression darkening.
Neville felt his heart plummet as his mind froze, how could they have possibly known. Even the other people surrounding the room didn't look phased by Ron's comment which meant only one thing. They knew, they all knew. Anxious he flicked his eyes to Ginny but she answered calmly, her voice sharp.
"I didn't tell them" She countered quickly.
Neville turned his attention back towards them as he spluttered.
"How?" He didn't understand, Harry had been in complete confinement and only the DA and Malfoy outside of death eaters had been aware of Harry's unusual circumstance.
Ron gave him another odd look. "Does it matter?" He responded sharply, slightly confrontational.
Neville felt himself flinch back at this, did they blame him. He would if it was him.
Hermione however cut across. "Ron." She pressed. "It doesn't matter"
"Miss Granger is right" A voice spoke out.
Neville flinched as he noticed Professor McGonagall standing in the group of older witches and wizards. He had hardly spoken to her since Harry had been taken from the castle, he had been too ashamed. He didn't know if she was mad at him or not, he hadn't dared to find out. When did he become such a failure and disappointment.
"What is important is that we move forwards together as one." She stated.
"Right" Hermione nodded as she got back to the point. "We have to deal with Tom"
Neville couldn't detect the emotion in his voice but he was taken aback as she turned to him.
"You need to take us to him" She stated firmly and without hesitation.
Neville felt his insides run dry as he shook his head, struggling to find his words. "I...he'll kill you" He started. "Voldemort is after your blood" Surely they knew this, Ginny's flight from the castle was obvious enough.
Hermione waved her hand as if this was nothing. "We know, but we need to speak to Tom directly. You can get us to him can't you?" She asked, eyeing him carefully.
Neville shifted, feeling distinctively under pressure as every pair of eyes locked onto him. Seamus didn't help as he started.
"Neville has been really close to Tom" He started, eager to help Ron and Hermione but not realising his words could have been phased a lot better as Neville blanched.
"It's not like that" He started, holding his hands out in defence as both Ron and Hermione gave him hurt looks.
"Regardless" Professor McGonagall began sharply before anything further could be said. "Mr Longbottom, can you get Mr Weasley and Miss Granger to Mr Potter"
Neville felt sick and guilty as he surveyed them carefully.
"Look, are you sure you know what you're doing-"
"Can you do it or not?" Hermione cut across him, taking him aback by the determination in his voice.
Tom wanted to see Ron and Hermione and they in turn wanted to see Harry. In essence he would be doing exactly what everyone wanted, but was this the right thing.
"What do you plan to do?" He questioned, he needed to know more, the DA would be safe in the room of requirements particularly as the Order were here. Surely Tom would not be able to touch them, he didn't need to betray his friends.
Ron shot him another odd look. "That doesn't matter" He stated. "If you can't do it then we'll go and find him ourselves."
Neville bit his lip, his insides twisting as he decided to take a gamble. "Tom wanted me to warn him of your presence in the castle" He rushed, hoping that they would realise he was not giving them away.
Hermione's expression only shifted. "That was expected" She seemed to be trying to reassure him as her glance shifted briefly towards Ginny.
Neville didn't know whether to feel relieved or not as he nodded.
He swallowed thickly "Okay, I'll take you to him"
Hermione smiled at him, but it was so brief and unconvincing that he didn't know what to think.
Neville still wanted a few more answers. "Are you getting ready to fight?" He asked hesitantly.
Now Hermione's expression distinctively darkened as Ron took her hand in his.
"That depends" She whispered. "The others are here as a precaution, just encase" She added.
Neville frowned confused, he didn't follow, but Hermione waved his questions away.
"Take us to Tom and then we can plan from there"
He really didn't like this, it seemed everyone around him was somehow aware of the plan but him. Did no one trust him any more, he wouldn't be surprised, after all he was a stupid death eater.
Xxxxxxxxxxxx
It didn't take long for Neville to seek out his target. Tom was in his own private chambers and it was with a churning stomach did he knock on the large wooden door.
He waited patiently before knocking again, not sure whether he should just enter or try elsewhere.
It was with a semi-relief when the door swing open and a sharp annoyed glare meet his eyes.
"Is there a reason you're bothering me?" Tom said lightly, frowning as he leaned in the doorway.
Neville hesitated, his throat tight and constricted as he spoke, he couldn't believe he was doing this, he felt horrified as he forced himself to go on. "They're here" He bit out, he couldn't manage any more.
Tom's mood shifted at once as a cold grin shifted across his face, at once he was out of the door wand in hand.
"You will take me to them" he commanded, his voice brimming with excitement.
"No" Neville held himself firm defiantly, he would not take Tom to them armed, it would only end in blood shed.
He could see Tom's eyes trailing over him calculating, watching carefully as he considered a number of options. Neville gripped his own wand tightly, he didn't like this, Tom had always been known to be unpredictable, even if he was on his guard that didn't mean he could defend against him.
"Your wand?" He insisted, holding out his shaking hand. He wished he could stay calm.
"Why would I do that?" Tom's voice gave nothing away, his expression now dangerous as he waited lips thinned.
Neville felt his blood run cold with uneasiness. He didn't know what Tom was planning, even if Ron and Hermione were prepared for this, he certainly wasn't. But Harry desperately needed Ron and Hermione that he was certain.
Neville swallowed, his heart hammering.
"I won't have you harming them" He answered, his throat dry, his anxiety building as he waited.
Tom however didn't answer, he only let a horrible smirk cross his face.
Tom pushed, his eyes flashing dangerously. "I will hunt them down myself"
Neville considered the option quickly.
He panicked slightly, hoping that Tom was as desperate to see them as he was to keep them from him.
"They want to speak with you" He hedged, and Tom's head tilted curiously. "And will only do so if you hand over your wand. Otherwise they will leave immediately before you even get a chance to meet them"
Tom scowled suddenly, but gave nothing away which only unnerved him.
"Fine" He agreed suddenly.
Neville was stunned, he didn't think that would work.
Even without a wand Tom could probably do some damage. As long as they were on guard however things might be okay, Tom wasn't calling Voldemort after all, at least not yet, they still had time.
He held out his hand automatically to receive the wand, this was way too dangerous.
Tom complied, a horribly twisting look on his face, looking ominous and deadly.
Neville took it and pocketed it quickly.
"Come on then" He bit out, his heart rate increased, what state of mind would Harry be in if Ron and Hermione could actually wake him.
Tom grinned sharply. "After you"
Neville only prayed that Ron and Hermione knew what they were doing.
"Come on then" He muttered, making sure Tom was following quietly and not attempting anything.
Xxxxxxxxxx
Neville's anxiety was building as he stepped quickly through Hogwarts empty corridors.
He gripped his wand tightly as his footsteps echoed loudly through the darkness. Behind him Tom followed slowly, Neville had only glanced back once and felt sick to realise that his eyes were gleaming in triumph, surely outnumbered and wandless Tom didn't stand a chance.
He steadied himself and swallowed his own fears as he stepped into the well light classroom. Tom followed as Neville gripped his wand tightly, making sure Tom knew that he had it trained on him.
Ron and Hermione stood next to each other, surprisingly their expressions were guarded.
Tom's mouth split into a horrible grin.
"Hello" He hissed gently under his breath, Neville shivered despite himself, glancing at Ron and Hermione worried. They hadn't seen Harry in months and now they would be subjected to the worst.
Neither of them spoke as both their eyes scanned Harry horrified. Harry looked thin and pale, and very disturbing with Tom's twisted grin full of teeth, he truly was unrecognisable from who they had left behind.
Neville's throat was dry as he struggled to say anything comforting, no words would make the situation better.
"Run along Longbottom" Tom spoke suddenly, commanding him briskly, waving his hand towards the door.
Neville opened his mouth at once to protest but he was cut off before he had started.
"It's okay Neville" Ron spoke bluntly. "We need a few words with him" He emphasised the word as he looked at him coldly. "You should leave"
Neville shook his head, he's never seen Ron look so angry towards Harry before, it was disturbing. "No, I'm staying here-" He started.
Hermione was pretty much ignoring them both as she held herself together. Harry's state was clearly distressing her as her eyes welled up, how could Neville leave them alone like this, they didn't know what Tom was capable of.
Tom moved swiftly before Neville even had a chance to react, he cursed himself as Tom's finger's pressed firmly onto the Dark Mark burning on his left arm.
Neville panicked, feeling angry with himself, he had expected this.
"Run along" Tom stated lightly, the threat apparent in his voice.
He didn't want to run, he desperately wanted to stay and make sure his friends would be okay.
Tom's fingers were still pressed firmly onto the Dark Mark as his eyes glistened madly, triumphantly.
"You should warn the others" Hermione spoke, although her eyes were fixed on Harry.
"I should stay-" He started anxiously despite his misgivings.
"Neville" Ron started, his wand focused on Harry. "It's okay, we'll be fine. The others need to know now"
Neville hesitated, his heart was racing madly, he didn't like this at all. Tom was known to be merciless and although he was unarmed he didn't like the horrible way he was eyeing Ron and Hermione as if they were easy prey.
"I'll be right back, just be careful" He warned, before forcing his shaky legs to move.

"You have information Lucius?" Voldemort spoke softly intrigued that his Death Eater had returned to him confidently. Given the short time period of time he had given him he had not expected promising results.
"Yes My Lord" Malfoy responded before standing fluently, a slight smirk on his lips.
"You have deciphered Dumbledore's message?" Voldemort asked and was pleased when the Malfoy nodded sharply, his eyes shining in the flickering fire light.
"The Mark had another meaning My Lord" Malfoy explained briskly as he summoned the book to float before them.
Voldemort's mouth twisted into a satisfied grin.
"Go on" He allowed.
Malfoy expanded at once.
"The fairy tale in the book is linked to Grindelwald's mark and refers to a crude version of events." Malfoy spoke clearly. "The relevant story here is named The Three Brothers." He waited to be allowed to continue.
Voldemort did not expect this as he listened carefully as he only nodded curtly, eyes narrowing.
"The tale speaks of three brothers who cheated Death and in return were rewarded." Malfoy explained. "The first brother asked for a wand to defeat his enemies, the second brother an item which would bring back the dead to life and the third brother an item which would allow him to leave without death following him."
Voldemort listened intently waiting for the point.
"Death granted them each in turn, a wand made from a nearby elder tree, a stone from the riverbed which could revive the dead and finally a piece of his own invisibility cloak."
"This story is based on truth?" Voldemort questioned curiously.
Malfoy nodded. "The Three Brothers refer to an medieval pure blood family named Peverell, My Lord. Ignotus, Antioch and Cadmus are known to be the creators, the Cloak of Invisibility, the Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone respectively."
"And Grindelwald was seeking them?" Voldemort asked coolly.
"Yes" Malfoy explained, before stepping forwards. "The Elder Wand" He traced his wand straight down over the table leaving an outline of glittering light. "The Resurrection Stone" He moved his wand to enclose part of the wand in a small circle "And the Cloak of Invisibility" Finally he traced a triangle enclosing them both.
"Together they are known as the Deathly Hallows and it is said to unite them makes one the Master of Death"
At this Voldemort leaned forwards, his mouth curling into a smirk.
It seemed Malfoy had come to the same conclusion as himself as he continued briskly.
"I have done some research My Lord, specifically on the Elder Wand." He nodded his head in a slight bow towards Dumbledore's old wand gripped lightly in his own hand.
Malfoy continued. "It's history is bloody due to its immense power but the wand Ollivander spoke of and directed you to seems to be the very same wand, created by Antioch Peverell"
Voldemort leaned back, raising Dumbledore's wand to hover in front of him.
The wand had indeed been powerful, responding to him beautifully in such a short space of time, but this development was certainly an interesting one.
Voldemort already had heard much of its past but to learn that it was from a set of three powerful magical unique objects was something he had not expected.
"The Cloak?" Voldemort asked delicately, flicking his eyes to lock onto his death eater.
At this Malfoy smirked, waving his own wand to produce the exact item that Voldemort had been thinking of.
"Potter's Invisibility Cloak" He stated as Voldemort took it in his long fingers. "Severus informed me that is used to belong to the boy's father."
"You believe that the Potter's are descended from Ignotus Peverell?" Voldemort questioned.
Malfoy nodded. "It is possible certainly, the Peverell family used to dwell in Godric's Hollow"
This made Voldemort's eyes sharpen at this revelation.
"And what evidence do you have that this cloak is anything special?" Voldemort demanded.
Malfoy was quick to respond.
"The cloak seems to have been passed down for generations, most invisibility charms fade with time but this one is faultless, I have not seen it's equal"
Voldemort breathed softly now, his eyes glistening as everything seemed to fall into place. "And the Resurrection Stone?"
Now Malfoy's tone switched instantly to one of shame. "I am sorry My Lord" He said dropping to his knees his head bowed. "I have found no trace of the Stone. It most likely belongs to a family of direct descent of Cadmus Peverell and may very well be lost in time"
Voldemort however smiled sharply, his thoughts calm but focused. A stone passed down through generations, could it be?
When he didn't speak, Malfoy continued.
"If there is anything else I can do for you my Lord?" He asked, apparently anxious that he would feel his Lord's fury at his failure.
Voldemort hesitated, twirling the Elder Wand lightly between his fingers, the Cloak of Invisibility hovering in front of him. Only one more item would complete the puzzle and in turn confirm if rumours were true.
"No, you have done very well Lucius" He hissed.
Malfoy stood, failing to hide his look of surprise from the dim shadows "Thank you my Lord" He breathed.
"You may leave now" Voldemort instructed, he was eager to see if his thoughts were correct. If Dumbledore had tried to pass Potter the last of the Deathly Hallows.
It had all been so neat, Dumbledore certainly had everything planned out, he had intended for the boy to gain the Hallows. Voldemort sneered, perhaps the old fool thought it would save the boy after all Dumbledore had condemned Potter to death due to the piece of soul hidden within him. Perhaps it was to reassure the old man that he had indeed tried to save Potter then cut him down without mercy.
Malfoy was just leaving the room.
"Lucius" Voldemort hissed.
Malfoy froze on the threshold rigidly before turning and bowing low. "Yes My Lord?" He questioned, blatant fear running through him.
"How is the Resurrection Stone used?" He demanded softly.
There was a flicker of shock on the blond's face before he masked it instantly, his voice suddenly instructional.
"Turn it thrice My Lord and name the soul" He responded before bowing his head low and leaving the darkened room.
Voldemort stood calmly, the Elder Wand tightly gripped in his hand, the stone now summoned and hovering before him at his command.
Master of Death, it had a nice ring and certainly was appropriate.
He grinned sharply, madly, as he rotated the stone three time. There was only name on the tip of his tongue, one soul he wished to taunt and in turn confirm if his thoughts had been correct.
"Albus-" Lord Voldemort began to hiss before the call of his mark reached him.
Disappointed but also excited Voldemort swept from the room, his destination Hogwarts.

Tom's eyes raked over the mudblood, the blood traitor too was beside her but she would be his first target. She was staring back, eyes guarded as she surveyed her best friend.
"I believe we have much too discuss" Tom said coldly, taking a small step forwards.
Two wands distinctly locked on tighter at this as Weasley snapped.
"Stay where you are" He looked scared as if unsure whether to curse Tom or not.
Tom raised his eyebrows and paused. "I don't believe you realise the severity of your imminent death Weasley"
"You think you can kill us?" Weasley snapped angrily.
Both of them looked ready to fight, ready to take Potter for themselves.
"Oh no" Tom said lightly smirking, his eyes flicking over them both. "That pleasure is not reserved for myself"
"Well lucky us" Weasley spat, his whole stance rigid, his brown eyes fuming. "We'll just hang around until You Know Who gets here to murder us shall we?"
Tom grinned sharply at this but didn't comment, his eyes gleaming.
Granger however seemed calmer, although she too struggled to cope with Potter's condition.
"Why are you unarmed?" She questioned.
Tom tilted his head at this, he hadn't expected her to come out with anything vaguely intelligent.
"Longbottom was very adamant in his conditions" He said softly, "And of course I was very eager to meet you both" He smiled widely, opening up his arms as if to embrace them.
Weasley looked ready to curse him however Granger held some reason as she spoke.
"You want to hand us over to You Know Who?" She asked cautiously, her own wand held steady as she watched his every movement carefully.
Tom didn't respond directly. "I wanted to confirm your positions" He said coolly, crossing his arms now frowning. Something was distracting him, there was something else clearly here with them all in the room but he could not see anything. He gently pushed out with his magic attempting to locate the source.
"I am assuming you are here to remove Potter?" Tom asked delicately in an attempt to show that he was not distracted.
Granger glanced towards Weasley as she shifted on her feet from side to side, she opened her mouth to reply but never got the chance.
Tom staggered back as something so overwhelmingly familiar washed over him, how had he not realised it immediately. His eyes had widened in shock as he identified the other presence in the room. The nerve of them, he didn't know whether to feel anger or elated as he breathed.
"You have them here" He whispered as his eyes darted over them both hungrily, he advanced automatically one hand outstretched as if entranced. Weasley and Granger in turn took a step back.
"Don't move" Weasley jabbed his wand out, sparks spitting from it.
Tom however was delighted, his whole mood changing as his mind realised the implications.
"You haven't destroyed them yet" He breathed in amazement, he wasn't the only Horcrux left, both himself and Voldemort had given them up as lost.
Granger and Weasley had the other ones on them, Tom was certain that there were two. He buzzed with excitement, now he would return his brothers to his Lord.
"What do you mean?" Weasley bluffed his voice shaking slightly despite his strong front. Tom only smirked cruelly.
"You know exactly what I mean Weasley" He hissed as he stepped closer once more.
"Don't move" Weasley bit out, sparks still hissing from his wand.
Tom tilted his head as Granger too seemed unsure of how to proceed.
"Ron" She whispered, her hand shaking. "I don't like this. This is too easy"
Tom paused, clever girl. He decided to make there situation clear to them.
"The Dark Lord himself will shortly be in the castle" He hissed. "Death Eaters are already stationed strategically covering all escape routes. I personally have your exact location and in turn the Dark Lord will be able to locate you within minutes. You do not have the will to harm Potter under any circumstance, so..." Tom finished cruelly, mocking them. "Do you still think it's too easy?"
Neither of them answered but instead looked distinctly uncomfortable as Tom smirked, enjoying as they both sank into their situation. Granger was biting her lip as Weasley continued to hold his wand steady.
"You have kept the Dark Lords Horcrux's alive to negotiate." Tom continued, both Weasley and Granger glanced at each other cautiously. "I'm assuming your initial idea was to bargain for Potter's life?" Tom deduced clearly. How foolish of them, they should never have entered the castle. Voldemort had been certain they would track Potter down but never did he think they would act so rashly about it, but then again they were Gryffindor's.
Granger it seemed decided to be blunt. "Yes" She whispered. "That was our intention, given one condition" She gripped her wand tightly, as if ready to act.
Tom too braced himself as he smiled surprised. "What condition?" He hissed, eager to here her pathetic reasons.
Granger lowered her wand and looked him directly in the eye. "You may control Harry's body" She said coldly, Tom could see her own anger overcoming her fear now and he grinned despite himself. "But that doesn't mean he cannot wake up" She continued.
Tom cocked his head to the side, but chose not to comment, intrigued with the mudblood's current line of thought.
Weasley nodded beside her and this seemed to give her some strength as she jutted out her chin and spoke clearly.
"Harry has a choice in this" She said. "We won't remove him from the castle against his will, not if he decides to fight you" She stated coolly.
This he had not expected, and it was apparent to the two teens as his smirk faulted slightly, flicking away in an instant.
Tom's mind was at once calculating the implications as his eyes narrowed. He remained deadly still, unnerved that the tables were shifting uncontrollable out of his grasp.
"You are here to kill me" He hissed, his voice deadly now as he scanned their wands with an emotion he rarely felt, fear.
Potter's scar was burning fiercely, distracting him as he took a cautious step back. At least this was a good sign, Voldemort had entered the castle. Could Tom act quickly enough before Granger and Weasley destroyed him and then his brothers.
His thoughts caught up with himself instantly as he repeated Granger's words, they were giving Potter a choice, whether to die or not, this was his opportunity, after all he only needed to get them close enough and then Potter would do the rest. He had not lost yet.
"Well then" He cut across before either of them could respond, to them it would seem like he was trying to persuade them into not murdering their friend, his last defence.
"You better speak to Potter then" He mocked as he relinquished control and fell into unconscious.

Harry crumpled to the floor, his legs giving way beneath him weakly as he failed to support himself. He knees burned as they slammed into the ground, his muscles aching and his scar burning fiercely. He swayed uncontrollable as he struggled to take large enough breaths, his chest sharp and painful. Everything felt muffled and overwhelmingly oppressive.
All he could remember was feeling trapped and lost, suffocating as his body was moved against his will. Tom had done something terrible, something which forced their souls to be together simultaneouslyr.
Harry blinked rapidly feeling sick, he couldn't remember much, he had always been in agony, his own soul screaming for help desperately drowning, unable to be free.
Harry breathed heavily, his chest rising and falling sharply, from the silence he didn't realise where Tom had gone, had he truly given him control or was he watching and waiting.
Harry failed to stand up as he panicked, only jerking away violently and surprised when a pair of hands touched his arm, he hadn't realised he wasn't alone.
Had Tom been speaking to someone, he couldn't recall, he could only remember Tom's overwhelming emotions of excitement and anxiousness through his own anguish. Something had to be done, he just couldn't remember what.
Harry withdrew, arms folding up around his head, his knees drawn up close to his body as he tried to gain his bearings, his eyes were blank and unseeing. He didn't care for whoever was near him, they didn't matter, there was something much more frightening as he realised their presence, Horcrux's.
He felt sick as his scar was unrelenting, Voldemort must be close too and his vision swayed uncontrollably away from his own body.
Tom still didn't take control as Harry's head spun, hissing in shock as he was forced to stay in control of his own body, Voldemort was blocking his mind. Struggling to cope he tried to latch on to something desperately, Harry was drowning, he needed Tom to come back, he didn't want to go on.
There were voices now, pained, frightened and muffled as they spoke too rapidly. Harry failed to lock on, unable to focus as he held his arms around his head pressed against his knees, his scar receiving little pressure from where his head dug into his knee.
Footsteps drew closer to him but he dare not move. Perhaps the other occupants were unfriendly and would kill him, he could only hope.
"Harry" The voice spoke and although it was calm and non-threatening Harry spun around to look up, his eyes narrowing as his whole demeanour changed in an instant. His breathing slowed, his panic melting away into instead calm, he blinked confused for a moment before he reacted slowly and cautiously.
Automatically Harry twisted himself up, his body finding unknown strength as his eyes scanned the two people in front of him.
His body was no longer shaking violently as he relaxed, he knew what needed to be done now as he held still, everything would be okay.
"Harry" The girl spoke softly, tears starting to flow down her pale face as her eyes were desperate and afraid. Harry's eyes flicked away casually, observing briefly the threats to him. There was a boy standing slightly behind her, a wand drawn but not located in his direction.
The girl however seemed to have pocketed her own as she took a hesitant step towards him.
"Be careful" The boy warned anxiously.
Harry stood still, his own heart racing as he slowly stepped towards her, automatically knowing how to respond. This was how it was meant to be, Tom had left for a reason and he knew what needed to be done. It would all be over soon.
There was only a few feet between them now as Harry kept his arms locked at his sides, his eyes wide, his mouth locked shut. It seemed like the girl could contain herself no more as she finally closed the gap between them.
Warm arms enclosed him, her body shaking as she clung on for dear life. Harry could feel her sobs raking through her body as the girl chocked on her words.
"Harry" She whispered, her voice familiar. "I can't believe you're here-"
The words washed over him, ineffective towards his reactions, if anything the grasp of cold only tightened on him at her proximity.
Harry moved instinctively, his hand going behind him slowly and carefully, his breathing was controlled now. The girl had yet to withdraw as Harry's hand grasped onto the deadly weapon, magically hidden underneath his clothes, his fingers curling around it securely.
Harry drew the knife fluently, it's blade unsheathing as metal became free. The girl jerked back at his sudden movement but didn't get far as Harry gripped her hair tightly, forcing her to stay close, pressed against his body.
"Harry" She pleaded, her voice sounding suddenly scared and frightful. The other boy was too slow and she didn't get another word in.
The knife plunged easily into her smooth flesh of her stomach as her body went rigid with shock. Harry didn't let go of the back of her hair, stopping her weak escape attempt as he forced the blade further into her.
His face was expressionless as he twisted the weapon sharply, causing her to double over in agony as Harry carved it into her skin.
It all happened so quickly, so efficiently as Harry pulled his hand back forcefully, yanking the girl away from him violently.
She was silent as she swayed, unable to protest as Harry stared blankly at his prey. Her eyes were wide as she stiffened, her lips thin and slightly parted from her shock. The poisoned blade was already working quickly as she paled, veins turning a horribly satisfactory blue as Harry stared entranced.
It was strangely beautiful as he felt a grin twist onto his face. She made no sound, only opened her mouth as if to say something as she dropped heavily to the floor.
Harry tilted his head, watching as she writhed uncontrollable as she started to die. Satisfied, he looked away from the girl and shifted his dark green eyes onto the boy standing only a few paces away, he was frozen in place.
Grinning Harry held the knife tight in his hand, deep red blood dripping down the hilt and onto the floor, leaving a trail of red as he stepped towards his next target.
