Easter

"Seriously though," Complained Dustpelt. "Why do bunnies give us food when we eat them anyway?"

Cats mumbled and whispered their opinion. "THAT DOESN'T MATTER!" Shouted Firestar unnecessarily loud. "THE #1 RULE OF EASTER IS YOU DO NOT KILL THE MAGICAL PINK BUNNY THAT COMES AROUND AND FEEDS US CHOCOLATE!"

Hollypaw nudged Jaypaw, who was pouting in the corner. "What's wrong?"

He sighed. "Easter is when you find eggs, correct? I'm blind. It don't really work so well."

"Can't you just use glasses like you normally do?" Asked Hollypaw.

He shook his head. "I broke them when I crashed into one of your trees the other day."

"Was it that pine tree... or the oak tree... or the maple..." She wondered.

"AND IN HONOUR OF THE CHOCOLATE DAY, WE HAVE DECIDED TO START USING THE FORCE IN OUR BATTLES!" Yowled Firestar.

"What?" Hollypaw suddenly snapped back to what their leader was saying, or shouting.

Jayfeather looked around despite being blind. "It kinda feels like we're missing some cat..."

...

"OMG!" Lionpaw cried. "This is sooooo much fun!"

Heatherpaw smiled. "Isn't it?"

They were both playing in the tunnels that happen to exist under clan territory.

Suddenly, Heatherpaw stopped and turned to face him. Her soft fur shone in the single patch of light in the huge cave. "Do you know how I feel?" She asked gently.

Lionpaw blinked. "You feel like you want a unicorn?"

She sighed, trying to keep her voice happy. "No. What I want to say is that I-"

"Wanna pineapple?" Lionpaw finished. "Hollypaw has a lot of pineapple trees."

"I don't think pineapples grow on trees... It's more of a bush..." She shook her head. "Never mind. What I want to say is that I love-"

A sudden beeping interrupted her.

"Sorry, gotta take this." Apologized Lionpaw. He took out his phone. "Ya? Oh! Hi Jaypaw! How's Hollypaw? Good? Easter coming up eh? It's tomorrow! Jeez! Why did no cat tell me! Cause I was missing from the meeting? Dang it! Sorry, I'll be right there!" He hanged up. "Sorry Heatherpaw. I'll come again tomorrow! I just really gotta go right now!"

"Wait!" But it was too late. Lionpaw left pour Heatherpaw all alone.

...

Back at camp...

...

"What took ya so long, dude?" Jaypaw asked him.

"Sorry!" Apologized Lionpaw yet again.

Jaypaw shook his head. "Never mind. Hollypaw can tell you what you missed. Then after we're suppose to help decorate eggs."

"Isn't the Easter Bunny suppose to do that?" Asked Lionpaw.

"Yes, but Dustpelt insisted we have a backup plan. You know, incase somebody accidently eats the Easter Bunny." Jaypaw explained.

"Aren't we forbidden to catch bunnies starting three days before Easter, to avoid that?" Questioned Lionpaw.

"I know. Anyway, just hurry. It's not like I'm the best egg painter." Jaypaw muttered.

...

10 minutes later...

...

"Hollypaw," Commented Lionpaw. "How come all your eggs are painted like trees?"

"Cause it's like, awesome!" Hollypaw explained, holding up an egg painted with tiny palm trees.

"And Jaypaw... that's just sad." Lionpaw told his buddy with a pat on the back.

"I know." Jaypaw grumbled. His blindness caused all the eggs he painted to be... special. Each one was an blast of colours placed in random splotches.

Lionpaw inspected some oddly shaped eggs. "Jaypaw, that's a turtle." He pointed to one, even though his brother couldn't see. "And that's a rock. This one appears to be a pineapple, and this a coconut. And-"

"Okay! Okay! I get it! I'm terrible!" He scooted his chair far from the others, stopping at the opposite side of the table. "I'll try again." He grabbed another egg before hesitating. "This is an egg I'm holding, right?"

"Yeah..." Lionpaw trailed off as Jaypaw turned away and began viciously painting, every now and then asking what colour something was.

Eventually, Lionpaw got fed up with painting eggs, and moved on to go visit Leafpool.

"Greetings!" Leafpool exclaimed as he walked in. "Would you like a needle?"

"Uh, no..." He sat down. "Can I ask you something?"

She sat down beside him. "Sure!"

Lionpaw looked a little awkward. "Have you ever met a cat from another clan and... kinda like... fallen... in... l-love?"

"Possibly. Moving on!" Leafpool answered a little too quickly.

"Well you are a medicine cat, so I suppose you wouldn't understand since you're forbidden to love and could be kicked out if you do so." Lionpaw continued.

Leafpool looked a little sick. "Okay..."

He shook his head. "Never mind! Just ignore everything I said. But answer me this. How do you tell someone you like them without telling them you like them?"

She was completely relieved. "Oh that's easy! Just give her an Easter egg with a heart painted on it! Then if she hugs you, you're accepted! If she slaps you across the face, you're rejected! Would you like a needle before you go?"

"No. But thanks." And Lionpaw said goodbye before leaving.

...

At the training clearing...

...

"Come on Cloudtail! Use the force!" Cheered Brightheart.

Firestar's decision on training every cat to use the force was actually going quite well. Everyone had mastered it, except for Cloudtail.

He was now facing off against Icekit.

Cloudtail could only manage to levitate a pebble, which he threw weakly at the kit. It landing a fox-length away, with a soft thump.

Then Icekit grinned evilly, and force lifted a tree that smacked into him at full speed.

"My tree!" Hollypaw screeched, diving out of the crowd and hugging the tree protectively.

"You officially suck, Cloudtail." Announced Firestar.

"But I'm your nephew. So doesn't that mean you suck as well?" Cloudtail asked.

"Rules of family do not apply to me!" Firestar meowed with a smile.

...

The next day (AKA- Easter)...

...

Jaypaw watched sadly as Hollypaw and Lionpaw walked out of the den, cheerfully carrying baskets for the chocolate eggs.

"I wish I could go..." He mumbled, silently cursing Hollypaw for putting trees in places where he walked. That was how his glasses broke in the first place.

Then something scrapped against the ground in front of him. Jaypaw leaned forward, and sniffed at the ribbon around a small box. "A present?" He whispered to himself. "But it ain't Christmas..." He opened it.

Inside was a pair of nice new glasses. Jaypaw put them on immediately, surprised to find they fit perfectly and adjusted his vision better than his old ones.

But no cat was around, so who gave them to him? He quickly read the note attached to the gift. It said; To Jaypaw. With love, Half Moon.

Half Moon? Who's that? Jaypaw wondered to himself.

...

In StarClan...

...

"He isn't suppose to know about you yet!" Complained Bluestar.

"Sorry." Muttered Half Moon. "I just didn't feel like waiting through three more books until the moment he falls in love with me."

"Seriously though!" Growled Bluestar.

"But he can see now!" Countered Half Moon. "That means he's happy. And since you're going to make his life miserable in the future, don't you think he should at least be able to enjoy some chocolate eggs?"

"Well I-" Stumbled Bluestar.

"As long as he's happy, he'll obey your commands better!" Half Moon pressed.

"I don't know..." Bluestar was confused.

Half Moon smiled before giving her the final shove. "I'll give you some chocolate!"

"Well, okay!" Bluestar agreed. "I'll forget all about this. It never happened!"

Half Moon silently celebrated her victory.

...

In the woods around camp...

...

"Congratulations Steve!" Hollypaw exclaimed, talking to a... tree. "You had an egg hidden inside you!"

"You named the trees?" Lionpaw grumbled, sharpening his claws on a nearby tree.

"Of course I do! And stop hurting Lucy!" Hollypaw pouted.

"Okay then. Just watch this!" Lionpaw sucked in a huge breath, and let out a huge roar that trembled the forest. Easter eggs fell from the trees by the dozens. "Like a lion!" Lionpaw cheered, striking a pose.

Jaypaw walked by and picked up all the fallen eggs before moving on.

Lionpaw stared, dumbfounded. Then he regained his senses. "Stop thief! Those are my eggs!" He gave chase.

Hollypaw ignored them. She looked under a rock, and instead of an egg, found a magical pink fluffy bunny. It looked at her with sad big blue eyes.

"So cute!" She picked it up. "I will name you Fluffy! And you will be my pet." She carried it home and placed it on her bed. Fluffy began eating a stuffed animal that looked like an apple tree.

"So cute!" Hollypaw sat down and stared at the rabbit.

...

Eventually, every cat returned home, fatter than they were before from eating all the chocolate. Except maybe Graystripe. He looked pretty normal.

"It's all this fur!" He complained when some cat commented on it. "It makes me look puffy!"

Jaypaw ignored the bickering as he entered the den. He walked into his room to find the pink bunny -Fluffy- eating the papers on his desk.

"Hey!" He protested. "Those were going to be for my paper airplane army!"

"Sorry!" Hollypaw walked in beside him. "Fluffy was hungry, and he like to eat none edible things! What was all that paper for anyway?"

"My paper airplane army that was suppose to destroy the world." Jaypaw pouted.

Lionpaw then came in. "Hey guys..." He droned.

"Where you?" Asked Jaypaw. "And why is your cheek red?"

"Oh. I kinda asked Willowpaw from RiverClan out. It didn't go so well. Something about being a medicine cat and from a different clan. She slapped me, so I guess this means I'm rejected."

"Don't worry." Jaypaw told him. "I had a dream and you fell in love with Cinderpaw and had a happy life. But then you told her about a prophecy and she rejected you, but then loved you again in the end. Also, before that you love Heatherpaw but it didn't work out either. You ended up dreaming about accidently killing her."

"I seriously don't like your dreams." Lionpaw grumbled, and went to bed.

"I'll be going too." Hollypaw grabbed Fluffy and left.

Yawning, Jaypaw crawled into bed and instantly fell asleep.

...

Somewhere around midnight...

...

Lionpaw woke gasping for breath. He could still feel Heatherpaw's blood staining his claws. With a slight growl he charged into Jaypaw's room and flicked on the light.

"What do you want?" Jaypaw groaned, sitting up and putting on his glasses.

"I seriously hate your dreams!" Lionpaw told him.

That's all for this chapter, hope you enjoyed it!
