In this chapter; Overly exited mother's, refugees, and turtle dreams.

Mother's Day

Jaypaw wanted to sleep in. They all did. But that didn't exactly happen. And it was all thanks to Squirrelflight. After the party, they organized a quest to go to the mountains. They wouldn't be going for a while, because today was the start of the Ultimate Hotdog Eating Contest Trials. Don't bother asking.

As Jaypaw gently dreamed of turtles and some random cat named Sol, a shape entered his room. "TIME TO RESPECT YOUR MOTHER!" Squirrelflight shouted as high as her voice could go. Jaypaw screamed and fell onto the floor. "I'm going back to bed, I expect to have breakfast served within the hour!" Squirrelflight commanded, and left.

Jaypaw groaned, rubbing his head. Lionpaw's wet face suddenly peeked around the corner. "Is she gone?" He asked, his entire pelt soaked with water.

"Yep." Jaypaw stood. "She doesn't appear to quite understand the concept that we're not suppose to be ordered around. That it's about us acting on our own free will."

"Ya think?" Lionpaw complained. "She woke me up with a bucket of WATER! Now I'll smell like fish the rest of my life!"

"And now we have to make breakfast..." Hollypaw stumbled in, collapsing onto Jaypaw's bed. Her bunny, Fluffy, followed, and began eating Jaypaw's half finished army of paper airplanes.

"We should get Hollypaw to maker her breakfast, as payback for waking us up." Lionpaw planned.

"But that would be a pretty harsh punishment." Jaypaw considered.

"Hey!" Protested Hollypaw. "Is my cooking really that bad?"

"Yep." They both answered immediately.

"That was a rhetorical question." Hollypaw hissed under her breath.

...

Outside...

...

Leafpool sighed and looked sadly around. Mother's day was the worst day of the year for medicine cats. She had children, yet no one must know! I need to write a novel about that. She decided.

...

Jaypaw, Lionpaw, and Hollypaw finally managed to escape Squirrelflight's wrath. After serving up a four course breakfast, their mother fell asleep, giving them enough time to slip out of the den.

Only, outside wasn't much safer. Mothers were marching around, collecting debts from their children. But most were escaping, and the she-cats started ordering other warriors around instead.

Fortunately, the trio managed to slip out, using a random secret passage that Jaypaw had a dream about. The woods weren't much safer, not when the hunting parties would start up soon. So they made their way towards the abandoned twoleg den.

"Welcome, refugees!" Cinderpaw greeted them at the entrance.

"What?" Asked Hollypaw, completely confused.

"You are fleeing the mothers, are you not?" It was then Cinderpaw who was puzzled. "Otherwise why would you come here?"

Several other faces appeared, all of them apprentices "I guess we are seeking safety..." Lionpaw began.

"Then come!" Cinderpaw dragged them inside.

Lionpaw looked around at all the apprentices. "Hey!" He protested. "Why's Heatherpaw, Breezepaw and a whole bunch of other clan apprentices here?"

"Seeking refuge. Why do you ask?" Breezepaw grumbled.

"You're on CrazyLunaticsAndNerdsClan's (ThunderClan's) territory!" He protested.

"So? It's not my fault you guys are the only ones with secret bases." Breezepaw sniffed.

"Uh... Do guys hear that?" Honeypaw whispered in a small voice.

They all fell silent. There was the sound of large pawsteps, growing louder by the second. "We've found you!" Cackled an unseen voice.

The apprentices could only stare with fearing eyes as shadows grew closer in the doorway. "Quick!" Cinderpaw hissed. "Through the back exit!"

They all herded towards a small opening, and ran deep into the forest. Behind them came the sounds of outraged voices, calling for the refugees to come back.

...

Outside clan territory...

...

"How do you know about this place?" Asked Lionpaw, as he and the rest of the apprentices crawled through the tall grass.

"I had a dream." That seemed to be Jaypaw's answer for everything these days.

The wreckage of an old twoleg den came into view. The group came up to the exit, only to meet the angered eyes of toms from every clan. "Go away!" One snarled. "This is our hiding spot!"

"So we aren't the only ones..." Heatherpaw whispered.

Suddenly footsteps came from behind, approaching at a rapid pace. "It's them!" A random cat cried in terror.

"Apprentices, come with us!" Lionpaw and Heatherpaw took the lead, leaving the toms to cower as the she-cats drew ever closer.

...

Inside the tunnels that run under clan territory...

...

"Commander Heatherpaw!" Cinderpaw exclaimed. "It's been confirmed that Mother Group #2 has enslaved all the toms above ground. Also, Apprentice Group D is has been taken captive by Mother Group #6."

"This is terrible!" Commented Lionpaw, who was second in command. "We need to launch a search party at once!"

"No." Heatherpaw's eyes narrowed. "There's no hope for them now. The most we can do is continue to scout out the area. Cinderpaw, please report if there is anymore change."

She nodded. "I will." Before darting away.

The main cave had turned into a base camp, and apprentices were scurrying around, making notes and forming patrols.

"Commander!" Shouted Honeypaw. "Our rations are running low!"

"Send Apprentice Group H to hunt. I also want groups A and E to return. We need more defence incase they invade." Heatherpaw ordered calmly.

"Yes sir!" Honeypaw scurried away.

"Jaypaw, how's it going?" Heathepaw asked.

Jaypaw's body was curled up in sleep as he watched what was going on from the pool in StarClan. Not good! His voice echoed inside her head. There seems to be movement around the main South-East tunnel. I would recommend sending half of group G to see what's happening, before reporting back. And the mothers seem to be suspicious of the minor West entrance. You should send group B close to there and have them stand by. But they mustn't be seen!

"Rodger that. Is there anything else?" Asked Heatherpaw.

Yeah, actually. Jaypaw's voice was slightly annoyed. Yellowfang's been yelling at me the whole time. She's been interfering and making the images less clear. Right now the whole South side is blurry. I suggest posting single guards close to the main entrances.

"Bad luck." Heatherpaw sympathized. "Mousepaw, how much longer till midnight?"

"Well over six hours, commander." He reported. "We'll never make it!"

"We have to try!" Countered Heatherpaw. "For the sake of apprentice freedom on Mother's Day!"

Everyone cheered.

...

Six hours later...

...

The apprentices went back to their own camps, to find the she-cats asleep and the pour toms chained up so they couldn't escape. They freed them, then moved the mothers to their beds.

So that night they all went to sleep peaceful, Jaypaw for some reason was dreaming of turtles, but the rest had nightmares of the next Mother's Day to come...

...

"Seriously?" Demanded Jaypaw.

"Yep!" Firestar was so cheerful it was scary. "I've decided that my cousin Bob, will come with you on this epic quest!"

Dun! Dun! Dun!

How annoying with this epic quest turn out to be?

Find out in the next chapter that will be posted on Father's Day!
