The little Dove flew far, far away. He was frightened.
"Kaito, slow down!"
He flew, not wanting to be caught. Not wanting to have his wings clipped.
"You're scaring me! Control the damn handglider!"
Silver was a scary color, but for some reason, it comforted the little Dove.
"Stop!"
The Silver coated his wings, pulling him down into reality, all while giving him the strength to face it.
"Tree!"
"What-" Kid's eyes widened as a large Sakura tree came into his hazy view. He quickly shifted to the right, narrowly avoiding impact. Their speed caused petals to fly off the tree and surround them before fluttering away. He sighed in relief and looked to his passenger.
Shinichi glared at him. "Pay attention, idiot theif! I could've lost more than my leg back there!"
"You think your injury's bad enough for you to lose a leg?" Kid questioned, speeding up. If it was that bad he would have to hurry. Hell, even if it wasn't that bad, he still needed to hurry. Her leg probably hurt really bad, and Kid definately didn't want Shinichi to hurt more than she needed to.
"No. But seriously, you need to slow down." Shinichi huffed in irritation. She swiftly folded her legs in, refusing to let them smash into a passing building.
Kid smirk, putting on a childish façade. He suddenly flew up toward the moon, away from annoying obstacles, and did a small flip. The moonlight created a beautiful silhouette of a gentleman holding his lady. Shinichi gasped as the rounded their second flip. "But this is fun, Meitantei-chan! Feel the breeze! Be the breeze!" Kid yelled dramatically.
"You're a moron! Stop it!" Shinichi whined. The cool wind tickled her open skin and her stomach turned over. It wasn't comfortable, but it wasn't bad. It was as if she was riding a big rollercoaster. A rollercoaster that was holding her bridal style.
"Lighten up, Shinichi," Kid laughed, "and enjoy the ride!" Shinichi gave Kid a look before she complied and closed her eyes. She took it all in, the feeling, Kid's warmth, her large smile. "Hey, I like that expression on you better." She opened her eyes and saw Kid's shining eyes watching her.
Her cheeks flared, and she scoffed. "Flying is sort of... fun..." She said the last part quietly, too embarrassed.
"Hmm? What was that Meitantei-chan?" Kid teased.
"Flying is fun!" Shinichi exclaimed wanting to just get it over with. She looked away, expecting another snark reply from Kid. No such thing came. Instead, Kid smiled. Such a real smile. "You have really pretty, white teeth." Shinichi blurted staring at the thief's face. She quickly covered her mouth and bit her tongue, blushing furiously.
Kid chuckled. "Why, thank you, Meitantei-chan. Compliments from you always make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside." He cuddled with Shinichi, trying to make a point. Shinichi began overheating at the gesture.
"Don't get use to it..." She mumbled, accepting the awkward body contact. She looked down at the changing landscapes until she realized that Hakase's house was actually behind them. "Kid."
Still snuggling with the detective, Kid chimed, "Yes, Meitantei-chan?"
"You passed the house."
"Eh?" Kid looked back and let out an embarrasses chuckle. "Oh, so I did." He pressed a button and leaned to the right, sucessfully turning the handglider around. "My fault!"
Shinichi sighed and facepalmed as the landed at the front entrance. She began to wiggle out of Kid's grasp, but he held her tight. "Let me go. I can walk just fine." She grunted, still squirming.
Kid made a disapproving sound. "No can do, Meitantei-chan. Your leg was shot." He smirked and picked the door's lock. Still holding, an red faced Shinichi, he pulled opened the door and sang, "Gentlemen don't put that kind of strain on ladies~" in front of a startled Agasa and Haibara.
Shinichi groaned. "I hate you. So much." Kid grinned in response.
"Kudo-chan," Haibara's curt voice cut in, "care to explain?" She recovered quickly and sipped her tea. Shinichi rolled her eyes, at her indifference.
"I was-"
"Gravely injured!" Kid interrupted, over exaggerating the situation. Shinichi flicked his forehead out of irritation. "Ow! That hurt, Meitantei-chan!"
"Shut up." Shinichi commanded, somewhat sick of Kid's antics. "I was shot in the leg. By her." Shinichi shifted in Kid's arms, showing the professor and scientists her wound. "It's not a big deal. It just stings."
Haibara jumped off her chair and calmly walked to Shinichi. She unwrapped Kid's makeshift bandage and touched the tender skin making Shinichi howl in pain. "Not a big deal, huh?"
"It's didn't hurt like that before." Shinichi said through gritted teeth.
"You weren't moving it before. Idiot." Haibara added the insult, just to make sure Shinichi knew. "Plus, your body was filled with shock and adrenaline. You couldn't feel in before. You need to go to a hospital."
"See! I told you, Meitan- Ow! Ow! Stop it!" Shinichi pulled on Kid's cheeks, telling him to stop talking.
"Just patch me up and I'll be fine." Shinichi said, still punishing the thief.
Agasa shook his head. "That looks bad, Shinichi-kun. You might want to listen to Ai-kun and... Kid." He examined the bullet wound closer. "It doesn't look like it hit any important muscles, though."
Haibara reached for the phone. "Not directly, but the bullet scrapped your vastus lateralis." She dialed the hospital's number.
"Don't call the hospital!" Shinichi complained.
"You really hate hospitals that much?" Kid asked dumbfounded.
Agasa awkwardly and nervously laughed to cut the tight tension in the atmosphere. "Shinichi-kun always hated being cooped up in hospitals. She usually says there's nothing fun to do in there, the food is terrible, and her mind feels like it's rotting away doing nothing."
"It is," Shinichi countered. "They keep you there longer than necessary and hand you easy crossword puzzles they get in the local newspaper." She crossed her arms stubbornly.
"That's too bad." Haibara stated, hanging up the phone. She turned to Agasa. "I told them it's not too serious so they wouldn't send an ambulance."
Agasa nodded and grabbed his keys. "I'll start the car."
Haibara looked to Kid next. He stiffened. What's wrong with you, Kaito? He asked himself. Getting this nervous from a first grader's glance. "You." Haibara pointed at him. Kid suppressed the urge to jump in surprise. "Bring her to the car. After that, you can fly back home."
"Huh? I can't come with you?" He asked, still slightly unnerved.
Haibara glared at him. "Idiot. We're not bringing an internationally wanted theif with us to a hospital. It's beyond me why Kudo-chan didn't hand you to the police yet. She could've easily done it by now."
Kid looked down at Shinichi. She simply shrugged. "That would end my fun."
"Done with playing with corpses then, Kudo-chan?" Haibara sneered.
"Shut it." Shinichi frowned. "It's not like I ask for dead bodies to randomly pop up."
"Oh, but I think you do." Haibara held the door open for the two teenagers.
Shinichi looked back with a dry expression "Oi, oi. What's that supposed to mean."
Haibara showed a sly smirk. "You know exactly what it means, corpse magnet." She closed and checked the door, making sure it was properly locked. Wouldn't want any nosy thieves looking through her files and documents.
"Whatever." Shinichi faced forward.
"You're a corpse magnet?" Kid asked, feeling newfound caution. "As in, you attracted dead people? Like a shinigami[1]?"
Shinichi sighed. "I somehow manage to run into a dead person everyday. I enjoying solving the mystery behind it, but it's a bit," she sighed again, "taxing."
"I see." Kid suddenly grew a wide smirk. "Maybe I should call you Shinichigami-chan!"
"You definately should not!" Shinichi yelled angrily.
Kid pouted. "I think it fits even better than Shin-chan."
"I second that." Haibara said, climbing into the front seat. "Fits you perfectly."
Shinichi scowled as Kid lowered her onto the back seat. "Thanks Kid. Now I have to deal with this."
Kid smiled and made sure she was secured before shutting the door. "No problem~" he cheered into the open window.
Shinichi sighed, yet again. "Ne, Kid." The engine in the car started.
"Yes, Shinichigami-chan?" Kid leaned against the professor's gate. Shinichi smirked her cat-like smirk and ignored her new nickname.
"Check your pocket." She winked in a way that was very out of character for her as the Beetle drove off. It made Kid's skin tingle. He felt the pocket where the Blue Sun Sapphire was in. Or was supposed to be in.
"Eh?" He felt the other pocket. Nothing. The back pockets, shirt pockets, suit pockets, but to no avail. "What the-" He finally reached into his front pocket again and pulled out a thin object. A card.
The queen of hearts.

A/N: Insult Shinichi and she steals your crap. So don't.
Oh, the end of this chapter is so rushed it burns my eyes! And it's so short! Bah! I suck...
Sorry it's so late. I've just moved into my new house. And a lot of other terrible incidents happened, at the worst possible time. To top it off, (Uh this ones more positive I swear!) I've began a new story. Well, more like planning and rough drafts. I know the pairing but I'm still deciding whether it should be another genderbend fic. I seem to like those a lot...
