Chapter 1

Lloyd Garmadon had a pretty active like despite still being a pretty young man. He trained as a ninja, knew spinjitzu, and defeated countless enemies along with his friends/brothers/sister. It was rough, but all in all life as a ninja was exciting and good.

He trained with his friends, Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, and Nya under the training of his uncle, Master Wu and the guidance of his mother Misako. Later on he met and eventually married Harumi, the Jade Princess of Ninjago City.

And the two had a little daughter they named Lydia. Life seemed perfect for him, but no one's life was completely perfect.

Lloyd's father was Lord Garmadon. An evil and powerful warlord, who's heart was as dark as the night sky. He had tried to take over Ninjago City several times, but the Ninja managed to defeat him. Even though he was locked up in prison, Lloyd often thought about it.

It was hard for him to believe that he could have such a person like that for a father. He knew he wasn't always like that, but that version of him was gone forever. Sometimes he worried about becoming like him, and hurting his loved ones.

So to combat his thoughts, Lloyd did his all he could to be a good father, friend, and husband. He spent time with his friends having fun and training. He was a good husband to Harumi by being there for her and talking to her.

And most importantly, he gave his all to be a good father to Lydia.

One morning, Lloyd woke up and turned in bed. He saw that Harumi was still sleeping, her body rose and fell as she breathed. He smiled softly, and then brushed the hair out of her face. This caused Harumi to stir, and open her eyes.

"Good morning, Rumi." Lloyd said.

"Good morning, Lloyd." Harumi replied.

The two then kissed, and got out of bed.

"I'll get Lydia up. I'll see you in the kitchen." Lloyd told her.

"All right."

And the two went their separate ways.

Lloyd quietly opened the door to Lydia's room, and saw his young daughter fast asleep in bed. He walked over, and gently shook her. Lydia stirred, and then woke up.

"Good morning, Lydia." he said.

"Good morning, Daddy." Lydia replied.

"It's time to get up. And get ready for school."

"Okay."

Lydia then got out of bed, and Lloyd left to allow her to get ready. After a while, Lloyd was clean and ready for the day, and met his family in the dining room.

"Good morning, son." Misako said.

"Morning, Mom."

After everyone ate their breakfast, it was time for them to start their day. Lydia got her backpack, and was ready to go to the bus stop for school.

"You have a good day now, Lydia." Harumi told her daughter.

"I will, Mommy."

"And be sure to learn a lot." added Lloyd.

"Yes, Daddy."

And the two left the palace.

"So what's on our agenda for today?" Harumi wondered to Lloyd.

"Well I've got morning training with the rest of the Ninja." Lloyd replied.

"And I've got some work to do around here. I'll see you later."

The two kissed, and Lloyd left.

At the monastery, Lloyd arrived to find that he was the last one there.

"Good morning, Lloyd. Nice of you to finally show up." Master Wu said.

"Sorry, I'm late." Lloyd replied.

"What kept you buddy?" asked Kai.

"Long night last night?" wondered Cole.

Everyone laughed.

"Now now, everyone."

Master Wu then calmed everyone down, and instructed them to start training. The Ninja then paired up, and started sparring.

"So Lloyd, how's life treating you?" asked Jay.

"Been pretty good. Harumi's doing well and so is Lydia." Lloyd answered.

"It's still kinda crazy to think about." Nya piped up.

"We're all grown up. We have jobs, we're married, and we've got kids."

"You're right, Nya." Zane agreed.

"It is amazing how many years have gone by."

After training, Wu treated the Ninja to tea. "I'm glad to see you're all still able to keep up on your training." Wu said.

"It's a good way to keep in shape." Cole said.

"It feels like just yesterday we were in the TV room playing video games, getting lectured by Master Wu, stopping Lloyd from becoming his dad..." Kai listed.

When Lloyd heard that part, his mindset froze. He couldn't believe that when he was a kid, he wanted to be evil like his father. He wore all black, had an evil laugh, and even released the Serpentine.

Such thoughts now made him cringe, and becoming his father was his worst nightmare.

"Lloyd, Lloyd..." called a voice.

Lloyd snapped out of his thoughts, and saw Zane looking at him.

"Are you okay?"

"Oh, I'm fine." he replied.

When training was over, the Ninja went back home.

"See you guys later." said Cole, as he got in his car.

"Goodbye everyone." replied Zane.

"See you soon." called Jay, as he left with Nya.

"See ya." Kai told everyone.

"Goodbye my students. I will see you next time." Wu told his pupils.

"Goodbye." said Lloyd.

And they all left.

As he was driving home, Lloyd passed by a toy store and in the display window were action figures of him, the rest of the Ninja, and Lord Garmadon. He noticed how evil and scary the action figure looked, and remembered the last time he faced him.

He remembered his evil laugh, and the glare in his eyes. Suddenly he was snapped out of his thoughts by the sounds of car horns. He was so deep in thought, he hadn't noticed that the light had changed from red to green.

And he quickly drove on to get home.

That night the family sat together at dinner. As Misako and Harumi were talking about their day, Lloyd was lost in thought.

"Daddy?" called Lydia.

Lloyd snapped out of his thoughts, and looked at his daughter.

"Yes, Lydia?"

"Will you read me a story tonight?" Lloyd smiled at his daughter.

"Sure sweetie." he replied.

"So Lloyd how was your day?" wondered Harumi.

"Oh, nothing special. Just training."

After dinner, Lloyd was standing outside on a balcony, looking out at the city.

"You okay, son?"

Lloyd turned around and saw his mother.

"Oh, I'm fine, Mom."

"No you're not."

Lloyd sighed, and explained his recent thoughts to his mom.

"Oh, Lloyd. You and your father are two different people."

"I know. But I can't help but feeling uneasy."

She put a hand on his shoulder.

"Sweetie, you're a strong Ninja leader. You've defended Ninjago countless times. But most of all you're a great son, a good husband, and a wonderful father."

Lloyd looked back at his mother, who had a look of compassion and sincerity on her face. A small smile crept onto his face. His mom knew how to make him feel better.

"Now, don't you have a little girl to read to?"

"Right."

And he went inside.

In Lydia's room, Lydia was lying in bed under the covers, and Lloyd was sitting on it reading her the book.

"And they all lived happily ever after." Lloyd finished, and he closed the book.

"Thanks, Daddy." said Lydia, sleepily.

"You're welcome, Lydia. And now it's time for you to sleep."

He put the book on her shelf, and then pulled the blanket over her.

"Goodnight, Lydia."

"Goodnight, Daddy."

Lloyd kissed her forehead, turned out the lights, and left her room.

That night, Lloyd lied in bed looking at the ceiling. His mom was right, he had nothing to worry about. He wasn't his father and never would be. He had a good life and a good family and everything would be fine.

Then he turned on his side, and went to sleep.
