Well, here's chapter forty and let me tell you, it is LONG. There's also a time jump a bit into the chapter. I just wanted to address that to avoid confusion. Anyhoo! Read and enjoy!

What is he doing here? Alissa took a step backwards to create a safer amount of distance between them. The last time she had seen Alister; he had nearly killed her and the Kaiba Brothers.
"I remember you. It's Alissa, isn't it? You were with Kaiba during our duels."
"Yeah, I was. You nearly killed us." He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"I'm sorry about that. I let my anger from losing my brother control my judgment. I was trying to avenge him but I realized that my choices would've just disappointed him." Her face softened. Well, Dartz did trick him into hating Kaiba. I can't really be mad at Alister for what he did because he was doing it for his brother. Besides, he realized that what he was doing was wrong in the end.
"It's okay. Dartz took advantage of you. Besides, you saved us all in the end." He looked at her with an arched brow.
"I saved you guys? I'm the one who hijacked Kaiba's plane."
"Yeah, but if you didn't end your turn when you did, Kaiba wouldn't have been able to win and take back control of the plane." She sensed that he was beginning to get uncomfortable so she quickly changed the subject. "So, you go to NYU? What's your major?"
"Sociology with a minor in cinema studies. What's your major?"
"I'm a music major. Newly transferred."
"You'll like it here. Do you need help with one of those boxes?" The magenta haired male gestured to the boxes that she had dropped when she bumped into him.
"Uh, sure. If you don't mind." He smiled amicably in response and picked up one of the boxes. She picked up the other one and headed towards her new apartment. He followed close behind.
"We're neighbors."
"Hm?"
"We're neighbors. My roommate and I live right across from you."
"You do? We should all hang out sometime." She placed the box down next to her apartment door and pulled her phone out of her back pocket.
"Put your number in." He put the box down and complied. Once he was done, he handed her phone back to her.
"Thanks for the help, Alister. I'll text you somehow okay?"
"Sounds good. I'll see you around, Alissa."
"See ya, Alister."

"Our families have been feuding for years. They'll never let us be together," the girl with light hair spoke through the crack in the wall.
"Then we'll run away," the brunet male spoke from the other side of the wall.
"How will we get away?"
"Meet me at the white tree on the hill tomorrow at sundown. We'll be gone before anyone can stop us."
"I'll see you then my love. I'll be the one in the white veil."
"I can't wait to hold you."
The next afternoon, the girl with light hair walked through her marketplace. She wore a veil to hide her face. The sun was beginning to dip beyond the horizon, giving the city a beautiful orange glow. The girl smiled with the knowledge that she would soon be meeting her love. It had been several moths since the two first met. However, this would be the first time they met face to face. Up until this point. They had been exchanging secrets and kind words through the crack in the wall that separated their homes. If it weren't for their feuding families, they would have met a long time ago. She made it to the top of the hill then stopped. A lion sat not far from the tree, finishing its latest kill. The girl released a small gasp of fright and ran back down the hill. Her veil slipped from her head and fell to the ground, forgotten in her panic. She reached the bottom of the hill and saw a small cave ahead. She ran into it and stopped to catch her breath. She decided she'd wait in the cave for a few minutes. By then the lion would surely be gone.
The brunet walked quickly through his marketplace. He was late. The sun was almost completely gone beyond the horizon. He hurried up the hill but froze when he saw blood. What he saw next made his heart stop. A lion had a bloody veil in his mouth. A veil that he knew belonged to his love. The lion growled at him then ran in the opposite direction. When the lion left, he caught sight of the mangled mess not far from the tree. The body was completely undistinguishable. It was so torn and eaten that it was impossible to tell whether or not it was ever human.
"No," he said aloud. He was too late. The lion had killed his love. Why else would it have had her bloody veil in its mouth? He shut his eyes tightly to stop the tears from falling from his azure eyes. He removed his sword from the sheath on his hip. He looked at the glistening blade.
"I love you," he whispered, before impaling himself on his own sword and falling to the ground. He smiled as he bled out onto the grassy hill. Soon, he would be with his love.
The girl peeked out of the cave. The sun had finally set and the moon had risen. It cast a bright light on the world around her. By know the lion was surely gone. She climbed up the hill at a quick pace. She hoped that her love hadn't been waiting too long. When she saw a bloody body on the ground she froze. A tall brunet was lying on the ground. A small smile was on his lips and his azure eyes stared up at the sky. She let out a small shriek and rushed to the dead man's side.
"My love? My love can you hear me? Wake up!" She shook his body in hopes that he would wake. She pulled her hands away and they were covered in the blood that was coming from the wound in his chest. His sword lay next to him, soaked in blood. She held his hand in one of hers then lifted his sword in the other.
"I'll join you soon my love." She shut her eyes and impaled herself on the sword. As her life slowly slipped away, she fell to the ground next to him. She clasped his hand weakly and breathed her last.

Seto sat bolt upright in bed. He rubbed a hand down his face as his breathing slowly returned to normal. What the hell was that dream about? I thought that I was done with these stupid dreams. While he and Alissa were still together, he began having dreams that always involved a man and woman that resembled himself and Alissa to a tee. In each dream, the couple would be separated by some tragedy. He hadn't had one of those dreams in a while, so he assumed that they had stopped. They hadn't. He glanced at the clock sitting on his nightstand. The blue L.E.D. lights blinked back at him, indicating that it was barely past three in the morning. I'll have to get up in a couple hours anyway, he reasoned, pushing himself out of bed. After showering and getting ready for the day, he grabbed himself a cup of coffee and sat himself at his desk in his home office. He logged into his computer and checked his email as he sipped on his coffee.
"Seto?" The older Kaiba looked up from his work when he heard his younger brother's voice.
"Mokuba. What are you doing up?"
"I got up to go to the bathroom and saw that your office light was on. Why are you up so early? It's not even four o' clock."
"I have some work I need to get done before I go into my board meeting today." Mokuba sensed the strangeness in his older brother's demeanor.
"Seto? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Mokuba. Go back to bed." The older Kaiba's tone was short and clipped. He seemed on edge. Mokuba frowned. His older brother was hardly ever short with him. He remembered the last time Seto had been acting like this was a few months ago. Seto woke up screaming, which he hadn't done since a year after he took over Kaiba Corp. When Mokuba asked him about it, he brushed off his younger brother's questions and never talked about it again.
"You had another dream. I thought you said that they stopped?"
"I thought that they did."
"What was it about?"
"It doesn't matter. Go back to bed, Mokuba."
"But, Seto-."
"Leave it alone, Mokuba. It was a dream. It didn't mean anything." Mokuba frowned and dropped his gaze to the floor.
"Fine. Goodnight, Seto."

The first few months of the fall semester flew by, and before Alissa knew it, it was the first week of December. Alissa lounged on the couch in Alister's living room with her head in his lap as he flipped through her flashcards.
"Jeffrey Dahmer?"
"Psychopath."
"Good. How about Ted Bundy?"
"Also psychopath."
"And John Wayne Gacy?"
"Psychopath?" Alister smiled and tossed the stack of flashcards onto the footrest in front of him.
"I told you that you had nothing to worry about. You'll do fine on your criminal psychology final."
"But what if I forget everything I've learned in the next two weeks?"
"That won't happen."
"Yeah, you're right. Big tests just freak me out. Thanks for helping me study." He smiled down at her and ran a hand through her hair that she recently cut to just below her shoulders.
"I'm happy to help. So, what do you want to do tonight?"
"I can think of a few things," she replied, propping herself up on her elbows so she could press her lips against his. The two of them had been dating since October, and although she knew she hadn't completely gotten over her last relationship with Seto, Alister meant a lot to her. He smiled against her lips as she moved her arms up to thread her fingers through his hair. The red headed male was soon on his feet and dragging his girlfriend up with him. He kissed her lightly on the nose before threading his fingers through hers and leading her back to his bedroom. As soon as his bedroom door was shut, the couple was locked in another heated kiss. He forced her to back up until the back of her legs hit his bed and she fell backwards. She held on tightly to the thing straps of his tank top and pulled him down with her. He pulled away, his lips barely hovering over hers. His breath danced across her lips. He kissed her tenderly before flopping onto his back next to her. He grabbed onto her hand with a small grin.
"I'm glad that we're together, Alissa." She rolled onto her side so she could look into his steel colored eyes.
"Me too. You make me really happy, Alister." He cupped her cheek and brought her lips to his own in another passionate kiss.

Mokuba stood outside the door of his brother's home office. On the other side of the door it was completely silent. Not even the sound of continuous typing could be heard. For the past four months, ever since the odd dreams started again, or Alissa left; Mokuba wasn't really sure, Seto locked himself in his home office without much sleeping or eating in between his constant working. Mokuba pushed the door opened and poked his head in. His gaze traveled across the papers littered across the floor and the multiple coffee mugs pilled up on Seto's desk until his gaze stopped on his brother. He had passed out at his desk. Again. The sound of the door clicking closed behind the ebony haired teen, roused the brunet male from his slumber.
"Mokuba, you shouldn't be up. You have classes tomorrow." Mokuba was concerned by his brother's statement. Was he that out of it that he didn't even know what day it was?
"Seto, it's Saturday." Seto blinked and rubbed the side of his face.
"Yes, of course. I must've lost track of time."
"I can't keep finding you like this, Seto." Seto chose not to answer and instead gestured to the coffee maker sitting on the table at the opposite side of the room.
"Would you mind handing me that?" The younger Kaiba complied and carried the coffee pot over to his brother. Up close, it was easy to see how thin the young CEO had gotten. His face was gaunt and lacked any color. Dark circles rimmed his eyes, making them stand out even more against the contrast of his pale skin.
"When was the last time you ate something?" The older Kaiba shrugged as he poured more of the now cold coffee into the mug closest to him.
"I don't remember."
"Seto, you can't keep doing this. You have to stop."
"I'll be fine, Mokuba. Now please see yourself out, I still have a lot of work to finish if I want the newest version of the virtual simulation pods to be ready by Christmas."
"No." Seto glanced at his brother, stunned.
"Excuse me?"
"I'm not letting you do this anymore. You're behavior is self-destructive and I'm not going to sit here and watch you hurt yourself. I refuse to."
"Don't test me, Mokuba."
"Why are you doing this? Is this all because the weird dreams came back? Are you working so you don't have to sleep? Why do they bother you so much? You said that they're just dreams." Seto didn't answer and instead turned his attention to starting up his computer again. Everything clicked in Mokuba's mind. This wasn't about the dreams. It never was about the dreams. This was all about her.
"This is all about her isn't it? It's because she moved to New York."
"Don't."
"No, that's what it is, isn't it? You're upset that she moved to New York. Why are you letting this upset you so much, Seto? You're the one who broke up with her."
"Don't, Mokuba. Leave it alone."
"You still want to be with her."
"Enough!" Seto was now standing and glaring down at his younger brother.
"Seto, why didn't you just tell her how you felt before she left?"
"Because I don't need her. I don't need anyone."
"Does that include me?"
"No. Mokuba you know that's not what I meant."
"I know. What I don't understand is why you don't want to be with her when she makes you so happy. I saw the way you acted when you guys were together. I hadn't seen you that happy since Dad was alive. She's your chance at happiness, Seto. It's not too late for you two to make up."
"Our relationship is in the past, Mokuba. It's for the best."
"Do whatever you want, Seto. I just wish that for once you'd put your own happiness before everyone else's." With that, Mokuba left the room, leaving his brother in solitude once again.

"Ho, ho, ho bitches! I come bearing gifts!" Alissa grinned when she heard Alister's roommate and one of her new best friends pounding on the door. She set down her music theory book and padded down the hall to the door. She opened the door with a large grin.
"Hey, Stefan. Come on in." The blond Swedish boy smiled and entered her apartment. He set the several gift bags he was holding on the couch and kicked off his shoes.
"Tea! Stefan is here!" Alissa called as she sat on the couch. "Where's Alister?"
"Wow, it's wonderful seeing you too."
"We literally just got food yesterday."
"I'm only joking. What movie are we all going to watch?" he asked as he pulled several DVDs out of his bag.
"Well, since this is a Christmas party, most likely Elf."
"Wow. Sass."
"Hey, Stefan!" Tea greeted as she entered the living room, cutting their banter short. "Where's Alister?" She grinned impishly at him.
"Aw fuck you both! I hate you guys!" he shouted, crossing his arms while he tried to suppress a grin. There was a knock on the door and Alissa went to answer it. Alister stood in the hall with a few gift bags and a bouquet of flowers.
"Hey. There you are. We were just asking Stefan where you were."
"I wanted to pick these up for you." He smiled as he handed her the bouquet of lilies.
"Oh, Alister. They're beautiful. Thank you." The couple shared a short kiss before she stepped out of the way to let him into the apartment.
"Sorry I'm late, guys. Have you started the movie yet?" Alister asked as he kicked off his shoes and entered the living room.
"Not yet. We wanted to wait for you."
"You guys didn't have to wait."
"Well we did, so sit down already so we can start the movie!" Stefan sassed. Alister set the gift bags he had brought down and claimed the space on the couch next to his girlfriend. He threw one of his arms around her shoulders and she rested her head in the crook of his neck. The group was only about twenty minutes into the movie when there was another knock on the door.
"Nose goes!" Alissa shouted, shoving her hand over her nose. Alister and Tea did the same a mere second before Stefan could.
"I hate you all," Stefan muttered, getting up from his place on the couch.
"What time does your open mic start tonight?" Alister asked, glancing down at Alissa.
"It starts at eight. Will you be able to make it?"
"Probably not. I have work until eleven."
"Are you sure you can't take the night off?"
"I wish I could, but I took off already earlier this month for your birthday. I can't take off again."
"No, it's okay. I understand."
"I'm sorry, Alissa. I'll make it up to you tonight." He placed an apologetic kiss on her lips. "I promise."
"I'll hold you to that," she replied before connecting their lips again.
"Alissa. Someone's here to see you," Stefan said, walking into the living room. Alissa pulled her mouth away from Alister's to greet her visitor. Her gaze connected with a familiar figure and her world crumbled.
"Oh my God," Tea gasped, bringing a hand to cover her mouth.
"Kaiba?" Alissa whispered. Alister was on his feet in an instant, standing protectively in front of his girlfriend.
"Why did you let this guy in, Stefan? What are you doing here, Kaiba?"
"I was hoping I could talk with Alissa."
"What made you think that she'd want to talk to you?" Alister took an aggressive step forward. His face was twisted into a scowl.
"Hm, still as loudmouthed and diluted as ever," Seto said with a smirk.
"Diluted? You're the only one here who is diluted, Kaiba! What did you expect to gain from coming here?"
"That's none of your concern. Now, if you'll step out of the way so I can discuss something with Alissa."
"Like hell! I'm not letting you anywhere near her!" Alissa suddenly pushed past Alister and ran down the hallway to her room.
"Alissa wait!" Alister called down the hall. "This is all your fault, Kaiba!"
"I'll go check on her," Stefan said slowly.
"No," Alister snapped. "This is your fault to begin with!"
"Stefan, go on and check on her. I'll stay out here with these two," Tea replied. Stefan left the living room and went down the hall towards Alissa's rooms.
"Alissa? It's Stefan."
"Go away!" she shouted from the other side of the door.
"Please let me in. I want to talk to you." A moment later, he found himself being dragged by his sweater through the now open doorway. As soon as he was in her room, the door closed behind him.
"Why the hell did you let him in here?"
"Well, he was asking for you and-." It suddenly dawned on the fair haired and eyed boy. "He's your ex boyfriend isn't he?"
"Yeah he is."
"Seto Kaiba is your ex boyfriend. You dated Seto Kaiba. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I hate talking about it."
"Alissa, I'm so sorry. If I had known, I never would've let him in if I had known."
"No, it's okay, Stefan. Everyone else knew about it, I shouldn't have kept you in the dark."
"Alissa?" Alister asked from the other side of the door with a knock. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah." Alister opened the door and quickly scooped Alissa into his arms. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"I'm sorry, Alissa. Tea is getting him to leave now."
"Why is he here?"
"I don't know. But I promise, I won't let him hurt you ever again."
xxx
"Why are you here, Kaiba?" Tea asked as soon as Alister had left to check on Alissa.
"I thought I had covered that already, Gardner."
"I mean why do you want to talk to Alissa? You're the one who broke up with her. And last I checked, you're the one who pushed her away and hasn't talked to her in over a year."
"I don't need to explain myself to you."
"If why you're here involves Alissa, then yes you do. I'm not going to let you hurt her again."
"I'm not here to hurt her."
"Then why are you here?"
"I wanted to apologize."
"Apologize? For what? Breaking her heart? Ignoring her for the past year? Making her feel like she isn't good enough to have happiness?"
"I never meant to make her feel that way."
"Well how did you expect her to feel after everything you did? Face it Kaiba, you being here is just going to hurt her even more."
"I didn't come here to hurt her."
"Then why did you come?" His silence gave her the answer. "Oh my God. You still want to be with her."
"I messed up. I want to make everything right."
"Well I hate to break it to you, but you're a bit late. She's with Alister now."
"She's what?"
"They've been together since October."
"Oh, I hadn't realized that she'd moved on."
"Well, to be honest, I don't think she has."
"What do you mean?" Tea sighed.
"Alissa's going to hate me for doing this, but she's having an open mic night tonight. Here's the address." She grabbed a pen and wrote the address on the palm of the brunet's hand.
"Why are you doing this?"
"I'll answer your question if you'll answer mine. Why did you push her away? If you didn't want her to be a part of your life, you wouldn't be here."
"When we went to Egypt she stopped one of Zorc's blasts from hitting me. She did that when we were still furious with each other. She put herself in danger even when she hated me. I thought that it was only a matter of time before someone used her to get to me."
"You really care about her don't you?"
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
"Well, that's why I'm doing this. You can be a real ass-."
"Gee thanks. That's real endearing to hear."
"My point is, even though you can be a jerk sometimes, I know that you really care about her. And I know that she still wants to be with you too. She may really like Alister, but he'll never be you. Now you should leave before she finds out that I told you where she'd be tonight."
"You're right." He stood and headed for the door. "Gardner. Thank you."

Alissa adjusted her guitar and headed onto the stage. The usual crowd as her and her friends made their ways to their spots on the stage.
"Welcome back guys!" Alissa greeted the crowd. "So, how was the first semester for everyone?' The crowd cheered in response. "Well we have a lot planned for you tonight, so let's get started!" The band began to play Don't Forget by Demi Lovato as Alissa and the two other singers stepped up to their microphones.
"Did you forget
That I was even alive?
Did you forget
Everything we ever had?
Did you forget?
Did you forget
About me?
Did you regret (did you regret)
Ever standing by my side
Did you forget (did you forget)
What we were feeling inside?
Now I'm left to forget
About us
But somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
So now I guess
This is where we have to stand
Did you regret
Ever holding my hand?
Never again
Please don't forget
Don't forget
We had it all
We were just about to fall
Even more in love
Than we were before
I won't forget
I won't forget
About us
But somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
Somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
At all
And at last
All the pictures have been burned
And all the past
Is just a lesson that we've learned
I won't forget
Please don't forget us
Somewhere we went wrong
Our love is like a song
But you won't sing along
You've forgotten
About us." The crowd cheered as the last chord of the songs was played. Alissa smiled at the crowd until her eyes met with a familiar, tall brunet. It's Seto! What is he still hanging around for? I thought Tea had gotten rid of him! Alissa threw him a glare before following her friends offstage.
"What's the next number?" One of her friends asked.
"Cell Block Tango," she answered. "Go get ready." A few minutes later, Alissa and her friends were dressed in corsets and fishnets and standing onstage.
"This next one is a crowd favorite. So here's Cell Block Tango from Chicago!" Alissa announced. She took her seat behind one of the jail bar props and posed with her legs crossed and her chest out.
"And now the six married murderesses of the Cook County Jail In their rendition of 'The Cell Block Tango." One of her friends announced before leaving her and the five other girls onstage."
"Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipshutz Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipshutz! Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipshutz. He had it coming, he had it coming He only had himself to blame If you'd have been there, if you'd have seen it I betcha you would have done the same Pop! Six! Squish! Uh Uh, Cicero, Lipshutz!" A tall girl with brown hair stepped up to the microphone to begin her solo as Alissa and the other girls stomped their heeled boots in the background.
"You know how people have these little habits that get you down? Like Bernie! Bernie liked to chew gum. No, not chew, Pop! So, I come home this one day. And I'm really irritated and looking for a little sympathy, and there's Bernie Layin' on the couch, drinking a beer and, chewin', no, not chewin', poppin'! So, I said to him, I said, "You pop that gum one more time." And he did. So I took the shotgun off the wall And I fired two warning shots into his head." The girl stepped back as the remaining five girls stood on their chairs and joined in for the chorus.
"He had it coming, he had it coming. He only had himself to blame If you'd have been there, if you'd have heard it I betcha you would have done the same." Next, an average sized red head stepped up to the microphone.
"I met Elliot Young from Salt Lake City about two years ago And he told me he was single, we hit it off right away so, we started living together. He'd go to work, he'd come home, I'd fix him a drink, we'd have dinner. Then I found out, single he told me Single my ass ! Not only was he married, oh no, he had six wives One of those Mormons, you know? So that night, when he came home from work I fixed him his drink, as usual You know, some guys just can't hold their arsenic." The remaining girls grabbed onto the jail bars and thrust their hips as they joined in again.
"He had it coming, he had it coming He took a flower in its prime And then he used it and he abused it. It was a murder but not a crime." Next, another brunette girl stepped up to the microphone.
"Now, I'm standing in the kitchen carvin' up the chicken for dinner minding my own business in storms my husband Wilber in a jealous rage "You been seein' the milkman, he says. He was crazy and he kept on screaming 'You been seein the milkman.' Then he ran into my knife. He ran into my knife ten times. If you'd have been there, if you'd have seen it I betcha you would have done the same." A girl with blonde hair and glasses stepped up to the microphone for her solo next as Alissa and the remaining girls ventured into the audience.
"Mit keresek én itt? Azt mondják, a híres lakóm lefogta a férjem, én meg lecsaptam a fejét. De nem igaz. Én ártatlan vagyok. Nem tudom, miért mondja Uncle Sam, hogy én tettem. Próbáltam a rendőrségen megmagyarázni, de nem értették meg."
"But yeah, did you do it?"
"Uh uh, not guilty." Alissa climbed onto one of the tables in the audience as her solo began.
"My sister, Veronica and I had this double act And my husband, Charlie traveled around with us With the last number in our act We did 20 acrobatic tricks in a row. One two three four five, splits, spread eagles, back flips, flip flops, one right after the other. Well, this one night before the show we were down at the hotel in Cicero. The three of us, Boozin' and havin' a few laughs and we ran out of ice, so I went out to get some. I come back, open the door, there's Veronica and Charlie Doing number seventeen, the spread eagle. Well, I was in such a state of shock, I completely blacked out I can't remember a thing, it wasn't until later when I was washing the blood off my hands I even knew they were dead!" She jumped off the table and landed in front of Seto as she continued with her solo. "They had it coming, they had it coming They had it coming all along I didn't do it, but if I done it How could you tell me that I was wrong? They had it coming, they had it coming They had it coming all along I didn't do it, but if I done it How could you tell me that I was wrong?" Alissa continued to circle the young CEO as the girl with the final solo of the night began her solo.
"I loved Alvin Lipshutz more than I could possibly say, he was a real artistic guy, sensitive, a painter But he was always trying to find himself He go out every night looking for himself And on the way, he found Ruth, Gladys, Rosemary and Irving. I guess you can say we broke up because of artistic differences He saw himself as alive and I saw him dead." Alissa stood a few inches away from Kaiba as her and the girls joined in for the final chorus.
"The dirty bum, bum, bum, bum, bum The dirty bum, bum, bum, bum, bum." Alissa broke away from him and ran back to the stage. "They had it comin', they had it comin' They had it comin' all along 'Cause if they used us and they abused us. How could they tell us that we were wrong? He had it coming, he had it coming He only had himself to blame If you'd have been there, if you'd have seen it I betcha you would have done the same."
"You pop that gum one more time."
"Single my ass."
"Ten times."
"Miért csukott Uncle Sam börtönbe."
"Number seventeen, the spread eagle."
"Artistic differences."
"I betcha you would have done the same. Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipshutzs!" The crowd roared as the girls hit their final poses and the lights faded. After several seconds of thunderous applause, the lights on the stage came back up. "Alright guys, it's time for a break! Get yourselves a drink and we'll be back in five!" Alissa climbed off the stage and headed to the bar to get a glass of water.
"What the hell was that?" Seto asked. Coming to stand behind her.
"Cell Block Tango from Chicago. I thought that it was pretty obvious."
"What were you thinking? That performance bordered on being pornographic!"
"Oh please! Don't be so melodramatic. Besides, why would you care?" She turned her attention to the bartender. "Actually Jake, could you make that a Long Island Iced Tea? Thanks."
"What happened to you?"
"What do you mean, what happened to me? I grew up. Oh, thanks, Jake." She took a long sip of her drink before setting it down on the bar. He snatched it out of her reach with a frown.
"What the hell, asshole?"
"You're acting morally ambiguous."
"Yeah, well you're acting like an asshole, but you don't see me sticking my nose in your business."
"Alissa, you have to stop this. It's illegal to drink in the U.S. under the age of twenty one."
"Will you shut up? Someone will hear you. Besides, you shouldn't care. You aren't my boyfriend."
"Speaking of him, why isn't he here tonight? Shouldn't he be supporting you?"
"He had work."
"Hm, some boyfriend he is."
'How dare you! Like you have room to judge. Last I checked, you didn't exactly win boyfriend of the year. Now do you mind telling me why you flew all the way to New York?"
"I was wrong."
"What?"
"I was wrong when I said that we shouldn't get back together." She let out a harsh laugh.
"You're kidding me right? Now you want to be together again? I hate to tell you this, but it's too late, Kaiba."
"Alissa, if you'd just let me explain my reasoning-."
"No. You're too late. A whole year too late. Now excuse me, I have a performance to finish." She slid her drink closer to her, took a final sip, and then left the bar. She disappeared backstage briefly before she returned in a pair of jeans and a blouse.
"This next song is by a pretty new artist that has easily become one of my favorites. This is Good As Gone by Charlie." The band began to play as she grabbed the mic from its stand.
"Tongue tied, trying to get the words out.
Dead airs all that's playing in this car.
What's wrong why are you so nervous,
For someone who was such a jerk.
Your big head is suddenly deflated,
Cause you thought that you had the wheel.
This time I'm the one who's leaving,
The tables will be turning now.
You had me spun,
but look who's coming undone.
Now I'm good good good as gone,
I was right right that you were so wrong.
But it's to late now to try and get me back.
You can knock knock knock on my door,
But I'm not not yours anymore.
And the best revenge is to write this song
Gotta get it out and move right on.
Yeah I'm good good good yeah I'm good as
Good good good yeah I'm good as
Good good good yeah I'm good as gone.
You had, you had a million chances,
But strike three it's time to call you out.
Too bad cause i know i'm the best thing,
That you wish that you still had.
I'm out of here,
Won't shed a tear.
Not that you'd even care.
Good bye,
The end,
You'll never see me again.
I was good good as gone,
I was right right that you were so wrong.
Now I'm good good good as gone,
I was right right that you were so wrong.
But it's to late now to try and get me back.
You can knock knock knock on my door,
But I'm not not yours anymore.
And the best revenge is to write this song
Gotta get it out and move right on.
Yeah I'm good good good yeah I'm good as
Good good good yeah I'm good as
Good good good yeah I'm good as gone." The crowd roared when the song finished. Alissa cast her glance to Seto who was now leaving the venue. Alissa sighed. Denying him another chance was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do, but maybe now she could finally move on.

Woo! This chapter is finally done! Boy this chapter drained me, but it was really fun to write! There's going to be probably two or three more chapters of this story and then it'll be done. There will be a third one though, which I'm excited for. Unfortunately, my show starts this week, so my weekends for the next moth will be pretty busy. I'll try to keep my update by Sunday thing going on, but the last few updates might be a bit late depending on how much free time I find. Anyhoo! I hope you guys enjoyed this lengthy chapter. Let me know what you guys think! Until next time, love you guys!
