"So this is my dad Raife..."
He's a famous rockstar and I've been sleeping with his daughter.
So meeting him is weird in many ways.
"And this is Sky, she's a friend from back home and she works for dad"
She looks really familar.
"And this is Spencer, Jason and Chelsea"
"Hi it's nice to meet you all"
When she introduces us Raife stands up to shake our hands.
"You to"
"Where are you guys all from?"
"LA"
"That's really cool that you guys are all from the same city"
"Yer it's a very small world"
"It really is"
When he sits back down I move so I'm sitting next to Ashley.
"Hey"
She's smiling at me.
"Hi"
"It was Spencer right?"
"Yer"
"Hi it's nice to meet you"
"You to"
The way she's smiling at me makes me think Ashley's told her about us.
"You look really familar?"
The others are all talking to Raife.
So that leaves me with Ashley's old fuck buddy.
"I was just thinking the exact same thing"
I'm pretty sure I've met her before.
"You went to Marymount High right?"
When Chelsea says that I look over at her.
"Yer"
"You used to swim?"
"Ohhhhh now I remember who you are..."
She's still smiling at me.
"You went to Westwood?"
"Yer"
"You're the blonde swimmer that used to kick my ass all the time?"
"I..."
What am I meant to say to that?
"She's annoying, she kicks everyones ass, myself included"
"Chelsea?"
"And she gets really embarassed when people compliment her"
I'm laughing like everyone else, but I really hate it when people talk me up, it's embarassing.
"I'm going to bring her down a few notches"
Aiden's been talking himself up for a couple of days now.
"We're going to race Sky and when I beat her I'm going to stay back and give her a swimming lesson"
Now everyone's really laughing.
"Aiden I really hope she kicks your ass"
"Raife where's your loyalty to the male gender?"
"I like ladies Aiden, your muscles don't do it for me"
That's hilarious.
"Kick his ass for me Spencer"
"I'll see what I can do Raife"
I don't know much about Ashley's dad.
I know he's really famous and I know he's been really successful.
But I've never really payed much attention to him.
"So are you all coming to the festival tomorrow?"
"Yer can you organise six passes?"
"Ashley for you I'd do anything"
He's a funny guy.
"Can you increase the limit on my credit card?"
She's quick.
"Honey have you forgotten how much money your mother spends?"
My family's well off.
My mum's a doctor and my dad's a social worker.
But the money we have would just be loose change to them.
"I've actually got a bunch of VIP passes in my room..."
This is going to take a bit of getting used to.
"They give you full access to the whole festival"
"When do you play?"
"We're closing tomorrow night"
It should be a good weekend.
"We'll all be there"
"I can't wait, it's been a while since you girls have seen me play..."
"It's been a while since we've seen you at all"
When she says that I look over at her.
"Ashley you know how much I hate it when you guys aren't around, it sucks... I wish you guys were on the road with me all the time"
I'm really close with my dad, but it's pretty obvious that her relationship with her dad is nothing like the one I have with mine.
"Dad we're not kids anymore, we can't just follow you around"
Where did that come from?
"I know but you girls mean everything to me and I'm just really excited you and your friends are here... In Germany of all places"
He does look pretty happy to see them.
"Well we're excited to be here"
"Thanks Ky"
Everytime I think I've got Ashley figured out.
I discover something else about her.
"Let's make a toast"
When Kyla says that I smile.
"To new friendships, old friends..."
When she looks over at Sky she smiles.
"Good times and family"
That's sweet.
"Cheers"
When I tap my glass against Ashley's, her eyes lock on mine.
"Cheers"
She's such a fascinating character.
