Part 29 New twists and old friends
Dracula opened his email. He read it and a very large smile appeared upon his face. Lucas had at last fallen in love.
Vlad Dracula grinned broadly as he read the missive. One had to love modern technology it had made his un-life so much simpler and communication was almost instantaneous and efficient.
In the past it would have taken weeks or longer for a letter to reach him at his home high in the Carpathian Mountains. While his castle might appear ancient and a ruin it was far from that.
While parts of it had to maintain that façade the inner workings of smaller buildings had been modernized.
He quite liked the quaint and homey feel of the place and was glad he listened to his new bride when she had suggested he remodel. Harmony might not be the brightest at somethings but the girl had style and was very loyal and loving.
Vlad was grateful every day for meeting her and knew he would keep her for many years to come. With his guidance she would become the woman he knew she could be. After all she had survived Sunnydale and the slayer so she had some hope of maturing into a master vampire. It might take years but then they were immortal and if he was honest he liked her innocence and her hatred of killing when feeding. It gave him hope for their species ability to adapt to this new world.
He read down and frowned. Oh well there always was a wrinkle to go with the good news.
Slayer and not just any of the slayers had taken an interest in Boston no it was the so called CHOOSEN TWO.
At least he now knew why Luc was so forthcoming with the news of his wanting to take a bride. Dracula sighed and began planning a trip to the United States. It seemed that his favorite son needed his help.
"Harmony could you come in here for a moment I have to ask you something."
His bride came in carrying a mug of warm blood. She always took such good care of him.
"Sure thing Vlad I brought you something to eat. You skipped breakfast and that is so not good for you."
He smiled at her love and care and for the first time thought maybe just maybe he would thank the slayer for ending his other brides because they would never have let him have Harmony. If he was honest their relationship had not been working for years but he was not a vampire to toss aside those he once loved. The vampires who had become his brides back then had been vapid and poorly equipped to live alone or even in their own coven. He had been such an idiot back when he turned them. He gone for looks and not brains or wisdom. Ok some might say he done the same with Harmony but their relationship was so much deeper and still fascinating and growing even two years later he daily learned something new.
"Vlad you wanted to ask me something?"
Her words brought him out of his musing. "Yes sorry my dear I was just thinking how lovely you look today."
Harmony Kendell would have blushed if possible. She still was amazed she had hooked up with Dracula. He was practically or was royalty in vampire society and he loved her. She smiled. "I just want to reflect well on you beloved."
He cupped her face and kissed her gently. "You do beloved. Now the question I have is how well do you know Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane?"
Harmony flinched. "Well I went to high school with Buffy and Faith hung around a bit. I was not exactly friends with them but they haven't tried to slay me yet. They seemed to be ok with me when I worked for Angel and they left me alone when I dated Spike. I'm not sure if they would slay me or not. I ah….I been staying clear of human blood except that I buy so maybe they would be ok with me. I mean I got their email and phone numbers on case of an apocalypse as I don't want the world to end and they know it. So they said I could call with news and they would listen. So maybe we'd be ok as long as I am not hurting anyone. Why do you want to know?"
Dracula thought for a moment then said. "Lucas has found the woman he wishes to mate with. However she seems related to a slayer and I would like him not to become dust. I was hoping given his running of Boston that perhaps we could speak to the council and the senior slayers and perhaps work out a deal. Luc does not kill when he feeds and he is protective of his city so perhaps they would be willing to work with him?"
"Well they worked with Angel and Spike and even Damon in Chicago a bit. I could email them and ask for a truce and meeting. I guess we are heading to Boston then?"
"Yes Lucas needs me and I admit to being highly curious to who has won his heart. I never believed he would settle down again after his first mate was killed."
Dracula looked away and felt the familiar rage at that. It was a totally killing. Humans could be every bit as evil as the undead not that many would accept that. Little Faun and been a lovely lady and her killing had almost made Lucas a monster.
It had been the last time he had killed humans in a rage. However somehow Vlad thought even the slayer would give him a pass for that one. He pulled himself back to the present.
"Please begin packing our things. I will make arrangements to head to Boston and to have our house there opened."
"Yes beloved. Oh should we pack soil or do you have enough at the house?"
"We can take some with the coffins. I would rather have enough just on case. Besides I am always take some. I am filling the basement of the house so we have a secure resting place."
Harmony nodded. While she was not of Dracula's line she had learned all she could to keep him healthy and happy.
He was her one. She smiled and left to begin packing their bags. It would keep her busy while Vlad made arrangements.
Haemony was excited to finally meet his beloved son in person. She just hoped Buffy and Faith would be ok with them visiting and not try to slay them again.
Maybe and email be good and the offer of a truce might work. Oddly enough she trusted them to keep their word on that plus neither she nor Drac killed when feeding so maybe they could work out a deal. Maybe they could find a way to keep their family safe and secure. I mean she and Drac were doing their best to protect humans in their area and they even sponsored several local orphanages. Surely that had to be considered good even if neither of them had souls. Hell Hitler, Stalin had souls and no one could consider them good people.
Travers moved through the town with ease. His automobile was a work of art. He knew he could make contact with the rest of the coven by pretending to be a buyer. It seems research showed that many of the wealthy an connected of Boston frequented their shops to buy their handcrafted items.
He considered trying them and then stocking up as well as perhaps acquiring their formulas. After all he did need an alternate form of funding. Hum perhaps he could offer a business deal to the ladies as a way to get close to them quickly. Then when he was a partner…well he could kill them for the rituals and make a profit as well. Yes that sounded like a reasonable plan.
He would just have to go under his new/old identity of Harlan Augustus Wentworth IV. He hated the need but it did have its uses. It was a good thing he had kept this alias active for all these years. He had a full identity and life here as an Oxford Educated immigrant who spent his time traveling and researching and selling rare books on medical plants. Yes his interest would seem logical and he could be charming when needed. After all why make things difficult on himself when he could simply lure his prey to their doom.
