Challenge 6746: Boston Witches OR Why does Maura Isles know so much about magic?
I have recently discovered the show 'Rizzoli & Isles' about the tough female homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and her best friend, quirky and genius-level smart Chief Medical Examiner Maura Isles, and I would LOVE a crossover!
In Season 2, Episode 7 'Bloodlines', a couple of witches are murdered in Salem, and Rizzoli and Isles are investigating the case. The details are not that important, just know that
1. Maura Isles is extremely knowledgeable about witchcraft, black magic, Wicca and everything connected with it.
2. To explain the 'superhuman strength' of one suspect, the detectives consider her being on PCP. (I couldn't believe my ears!)
My challenge:
The murders in the Wicca community alert the New Slayers and Watchers Council, and somebody is sent to investigate. It should be a witch, so maybe Willow, but Dawn or an OC is fine as well. She is accompanied by at least one slayer, and both have to interact with the Boston detectives.
Want:
1. An explanation why Maura knows so much about witchcraft (maybe she is a witch, or knows about the supernatural in some way)
2. Rizzoli having a hard time believing in anything supernatural, but being convinced by the evidence.
3. A Rizzoli&Isles pairing.
4. IF you pair Willow up with Kennedy, make her (Kennedy) a real character, not the stereotypical bitch - I think she would have grown up.
5. A supernatural reason for the murders (which is different from the actual episode).
Would like to see:
1. Buffy being part of the witch/slayer team.
2. Some tension between Buffy and the Scoobies for them throwing her out of her house in the series (I always thought it implausible that most fics just ignore that betrayal)
3. Ilyria (LOVE HER! Maybe she was the sole survivor of the final Battle and came to Buffy as the only other adequate fighter - beside Faith)
Do NOT want:
1. Willow the uber-witch
2. Too much Xander (can't stand the git)

"Ok people please calm down. I know this case is shocking but we can handle it. We have handled many difficult cases, the only real difference I can see is in scale and we could be wrong."Alex said not really believing it but trying to put a good spin on the nightmare they would soon be entering. Just then her I-phone rang. She looked down and would have let it go to voice mail except for the caller id. With a resigned sigh she answered. "Luc Mitchell what the hell is going on?"
The vampire master pulled the phone from his ear as he listened to his brothers many times grandchild curse like a sailor and berate him for dragging her into the mess that this was going to be. He chuckled at her then calmly said. "Alexandra please mind your language your mother would be shocked. It is no way for a lady of your breeding to speak."
Alex stuttered and stopped shocking the team who never seen her get so angry so fast. With an annoyed look at her phone she hit speaker. "Really that is what you are going with cousin? You ask your friend the governor to talk to ours who then talks to the mayor then to my boss and drags me and my friends into this insanity and you are worried about my manners?" She roled her eyes as she called him cousin because it was the lie the family told the world and it let the people in the NYPD understand that this man was family and that she trusted him...sort of.
"Of course I am Alexandra you are a Cabot and should act like one. We have a duty to protect our cities it is breed into us. I protect Boston and you Protect NY as it has always been so though your father as good of a man as he is let thing slide. The cities are ours to guard. Because you live in Boston I asked for you and your associates to be used because I know you will take this situation and investigation seriously. I also know that Dr. Haung will be willing to help you and believe me we will need his assistance on this in profiling the possible unsubs. Yes Doctor you are right in your speculation however we have no idea who is doing the killing."
Alex glared at the phone. She hated that Lucas brought that up in public not that she really disagreed but...'well thats what I get for puttin the damned thing on speaker.'
Haung began to curse in his native language which had Lucas chuckling and saying "I doubt that is possible doctor but I shall mention it to the Queen and her heir they may well try to do that if we can catch the ones doing this. She has also brought all but the white knight of her court."
Haung froze at what Lucas said and "She is coming to the States?" He was frozen in shock first that Alex's cousin could understand him then that he was a vampire and finally and most disurbly that the queen of the slayers and the dark slayer were in the states and in Boston that meant this was indeed a dangerous thing to worry about.
"They are here in Boston which is another reason I called Alex. I could use a good reference….They are not exactly fond of my kind."
Haung curse again. "Really and you are related to Alex and the Cabots? How why…. That make no damned sense. You are kidding right? A refrence...really."
Lucas laughter was heard over the phone and everyone looked at the doctor like he was insane. "I would ask it of Nicki but...perhaps her son would be so kind do you have Doctor Wood's number per chance Dr. Haung?"
"No and Hell no even if I did I never give it to you and why the hell would you protect Alex? That never happens...with your kind. Nicki explained it all to me when we lost Lee."
"She is of my blood and we protect our own. Cabots are not as others doctor. That was tragic and when the one who killed Lee fled to Boston...he was turned over to the proper authorities for his crimes."
" What the hell are you ranting about; Luc since when have you been involved in the helping or in enforcing of the law and why does it matter to you anyway?" Alex demanded. "Last I checked you stayed away from the BPD on general principles. What does the doctor mean about that? You are family of course you would protect us and we protect you. Even if you are a bastard and a pain in my neck I'd help you even if it was just to point you to a good lawyer if the need arose. Refrence is on its way now." She typed rapidly in her phone and adjusted a general refrence form and sent it to her cousin. 'The things we do for family.'
There was a deep belly laugh. "Hardly Alexandra I simply prefer to protect Boston my own way and you are right Cabots protect their own and you are mine to protect. Keep that in mind doctor, I am not a forgiving being."
Dr. Haung flinched even as he glared at the phone. He hated being threatened esspecially by a beaing that could end him easily. 'A vampire that protects his family well that is new. Distrubing and worrisome...I wonder who this Lucas really is and does Alex know about him?'
Elliot looked at Alex and whispered "What the heck does that mean?"
"It means detective that I would gladly gut the bastards that are killing innocents if I find them first. It means that if any come after Alex they will not live to regret it. I have my own code and I am only sorry she did not tell me of her difficulties three year ago else she would never have had to hide away.. Be that as it may we have other issues to discuss. I should warn you….. several of my associates have decided that helping the police in various areas may be a faster way to resolve this issue. A truce has been called by Paddy Doyle, every family and gang in Boston has agreed to help the BPD solve these murders. I admit to agreeing with Doyle on this one. There is peace and an accord. However two of the victims here were the daughters of two of Paddy's men so all bets are off if they get the sick bastards first. I also thought it might be wise to inform the District Attorney's office through Alexandra that we are attempting to create a truce across the various jurisdictions where these killing have gone on. Several area local gang leaders have agreed so if you get calls from people you never expect to hear from….well I hope you will listen to what they have to say. I am not saying you take it as gospel but it may well be valuable to your investigation. These killings have angered a lot of powerful people. I also expect that someone will be attempting to shut the investigation down. Likely Wolf Ram and Heart and others of their ilk so be careful please. Alex call me later we have more to discuss and if you would give the good doctor my private number."
"As you wish but I will want answers." Alex said. "None of this make sense."
"I know, but I am not sure I wish to explain it all, you all are still so young and innocent." Lucas said.
"We are not children!" Elliot shouted clearly losing his patience.
"A babe in nappys detective, however we shall see." There was a click as he hung up.
"Well that went well." Munch said and he looked at the doctor who sighed ran his hands through his hair and loosened his tie. Then looking at the detective nodded. "Yeah Munch it's what you think and its bad."
"Ok, so I should we should go shake up our contacts see what rattles and falls to the ground."
"Yeah, we should." Danny said. "Maybe we need to check and see if this info on the level."
Alex glared at the young cop but sadly had to agree. The idea of organized and unorganized crime and gangs having a cease fire and actually helping the police and district attorney's office was insane and it scared the hell out of her. What could be so bad that evil wanted to help? Then there was the fact that Wolf Ram and Heart might be in this mess and that would make life so much more complicated because if ever there was the clichéd law firm of evil that one was it.
