Boston Is Burning
Part 43 Parley
The drive to meet the Master of the city was a short one. It was not lost on anyone that Lucas lived very close to Rizzoli and Isle and yet he was not in their immediate area. Maura had chosen her house because she liked it and the area was safe and held all she needed. However Lucas lived in an area that was truly for the wealthy. It was the kind of place you might have seen on lifestyles of the rich and famous. The home was on several acres and to get to it you had to go through a gated and secured check point. Jane was rather surprised to see human guards manning the check point. The limo stopped at the gate and they were checked in. Jane felt rather foolish riding in the large black car but it was secure and it would hold them all. Sometimes one simply had to roll with the punches. She noted that her allies seemed to take it all in stride as if it was something they were used to if not liked.
"Yeah we tend to ride in these things a lot." Faith explained. "We might not like it hell I prefer my bike but sometimes its far better to be in one of these. While they do tend to attract attention they can hold a number of people and honestly most people who see them just think beautiful, rich and famous and not deadly."
Jane looked a little shocked at that. "It's true plus the limo's we own or use are generally bullet proof and spell proof and the diplomatic plates help as well." Dawn said with a grin. "Then when we do get out most people only see smoking hot women or if Xander and Giles are out and about hot guys."
"It just feel weird being in one of these." Frankie said. "I mean I never even rented one for prom."
That got giggles from everyone. Kennedy just shrugged and said. "Its transportation and its safe, I mean we need safe with the munchkin and our families along. If worst comes to worst the limo will keep them safe. Not to mention it's a sweet ride and really comfortable."
"Yes I admit I enjoy ridding in them on occasion." Maura said "However they are hardly eco friendly."
"I can probably help with that." Willow said. "I mean I can increase the mpg's and lighten the vehicle with magic later I know I want to add some defensive spells if Dr. Isles is ok with it that is." Willow did not want to step on Maura's father's toes but if they were to use this often while in Boston adding more magical protections was of the good.
"I have no problem with that. I mean we rarely use this car unless we have guests of any number and only then because it is practical. However I do like the idea of it being more environmentally and economically sound."
Faith snorted at that one. The rich really were different. She noted Emma seemed as amused as she was. Then again both of them were street rats and the closest to limo's they would have come to in the past was when some creeper tried to pick them up.
"I don't know why I'm going with you." She said. "You don't plan on feeding me to the vamp do you?"
"Slayers here kiddo," Buffy said "We just want to keep you and the others safe until we got an accord then maybe you can come to the doctor's home. I am thinking it be the safest place for now."
"I look forward to it. I hope you like art." Constance said knowing full well Maura was going to try to adopt this little one. It was a good thing for her to do. Not to mention it be her first grandchild. It seemed slaying was to be a family legacy. Not one she would want for her family but at least with them Emma have a better chance at a decent life. Not to mention the Isles family was wealthy and Maura having an Heir was a good idea. It might stop the more persistent males from trying to get between Maura and Jane.
Maura rolled her eyes and Jane looked resigned. She took her mate's hand in her own and stroked it. Jane looked at her and nodded. Maura broke out in a smile. She then texted her attorney to change the papers from temporary to intent to adopt Emma as it was clear the mothers both wanted to claim Emma as a grandchild.
Hope not to be outdone grinned and said. "You know when Caylin was your age she told me she wanted to be a doctor. What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Emma looked at the older women and with total innocence said. "I want to be alive…I don't know what else."
Angela saved the others as they looked dumb struck. "Well that's ok honey not everyone knows what they want to do. Sadly Janie here always wanted to be a police officer even when she had a chance to be a concert pianist."
"Ma, I was never good enough." Jane said.
Angela snorted at that. Her Janie had been more than good enough if she just spent the time she played baseball practicing the piano. Oh well she was not going over that old argument. At least her Janie had married a doctor and Maura more than made up for the fact that Jane was still a cop. Angela hated that as it placed Jane and Maura and Frankie in danger more often than not even if her children all loved their jobs.
"I get it Emma. Heck no one wants to be a slayer but we got the short straw. However at least you got some options now." Faith said. "I hope you take us up on the help kid. I would have given my right arm back in the day to have some help."
Emma nodded but was still not too trusting. The car rolled to a stop.
"Well its show time lets go meet Drac and his kid and new bride." Kennedy said noting Buffy did not look to happy all of a sudden. Giles blushed and concerned. She wondered what had happened all those years ago? She noted Faith simply looked amused.
The left the car and walked to the front door and knocked. That was a new one normally slayers kicked in the doors of vampires. Their actions clearly shocked the police with them though Paddy looked amused. Clearly he to expect the doors to be kicked in then again they did have an invite so maybe the slayers were just being polite.
Dracula looked up at the doors and Lucas motioned his butler to go answer it. He decided to take the position of Master Vampire here. His Butler a man named Jennings did as his master bid. He was a little wary of the situation and hoped that this would not turn into trouble as his master tended to make a mess of the mansion when that happened and he rather liked the current decorating scheme.
The door opened and Jennings greet the group. "The master is presently entertaining his father and Ms. Kenndel and has instructed me to bring you to him."
Buffy brow rose at the butler a man who was clearly not bewitched and clearly healthy it seemed maybe Mitchell did not harm humans. It was a good start. So she said. "Thank you Mr…?"
"Jennings Lady Buffy please follow me."
Buffy and the others did as he asked and crossed their fingers that this was not a trap. They were lead into a large sitting room where the Vampires were all sitting near a rather ornate fireplace drinking from wine glasses. The slayers sensitive noses picked up on the scent of blood but it was not human.
"Hi Harmony so how are you doing?" Willow said to break the tension.
"I am doing great Willow. Sorry we did not invite you all to the wedding but we thought it scare the other guests. Not to mention it was a small ceremony and it was in the middle of the season."
Faith laughed at that and Kennedy just looked a little shocked at the calm casual way the vampire looked at them all. It was clear to her Harmony actually meant that. This is so not insane at all she thought. She was not so sure she trusted this vampire but Willow and the others did despite or maybe because of their pasts. It was just another day in the life of the gang. Giles cleaned his glasses and fought back the guilt. He still felt bad about those that had died or been turned at graduation. Only Harmony remained among the undead and strangely enough it was because she really had not been changed all that much by the turning.
Buffy pushed her own guilt aside and raised her hands in the motion to invoke parley with a small white hankie to act as the flag. No point in causing a problem.
"Welcome to my home and I accept. Father do you and Harmony agree?" Lucas said his eyes finding Caylin and devouring her. He wanted nothing more than to grab her drain her and turn her but for now he could wait. Time enough to change her if it was needed his nose smelt she had changed and was no longer as sick as she had been. That almost made him sag in relief.
"I do Parley it is. Peace to you your majesties and to your people." Dracula said "I do hope we can have a positive outcome to this situation." He nodded toward Paddy acknowledging him as the high druid king as well. Paddy smiled and said. "Agreed as always your son is a valuable ally to me and mine, which given now includes Faith, Caylin and Emma we should have peace."
"Well that is good news indeed to have new additions to your families. I hope to have the same soon." Dracula said as his eyes fell on Caylin. Hope pulled her close wary.
"Have no fear Lady Hope Lady Caylin is the safest among you." Lucas said. "I would gladly meet the sun to keep her safe."
That statement made everyone relax and hope maybe it would be possible to work this out.
