SPENCER'S P.O.V
"Where are you off to?"
"A friends house"
Ashley's home.
"Sweetie is this a new friend or an old friend?"
She has the stupidest grin on her face.
"Ashley's home"
"She's back?"
I don't really want to talk about it.
I just want to see her.
"Yer they got back this morning"
I'm really happy mum's okay with Ashley and I.
But it's still a little weird talking about everything.
"Sweetie can we talk before you run off?"
"You want to talk right now?"
"It will just take one second Spence and then you can run away"
"Okay"
When she sits down on the stairs I move so I'm sitting next to her.
"So what did you want to talk about mum?"
"Sweetie are you okay?"
"Yer I'm fine"
"You just haven't really been yourself since you got back"
It's been a little strange settling back in.
But it's nothing I can't handle.
"Mum I'm fine, it's just a little weird being back"
"Is it something we've done?"
"No of course not"
She's been amazing.
"Mum you've been really great and it means a lot that you're being so supportive"
"Your my daughter Spencer, I'm always going to love you no matter what"
"I know I was just a little worried about coming home"
"Why?"
"I guess I just didn't want you to be disappointed in me"
"Spence I'd be lying if I said I wasn't shocked, but you're a smart kid and you have a big heart"
Mum can be a bit embarassing at times.
But she's always had my back no matter what.
I don't know why I thought this would be any different.
"Mum the last thing I wanted to do was hurt him, but when I met Ashley everything felt so right and when I was with Matt it had never really felt right"
"How long have you known?"
"That I was gay?"
"Yer"
That's a really hard question.
"I guess I've thought about it for a while, but I've never wanted to do anything about it, until I met Ashley"
"She must be pretty special?"
"Mum she really is"
She's smiling.
"She didn't give up on me when I was freaking out, she gave me space when things got ugly with Matt and she helped me find the real me"
She's amazing.
"Mum I just don't know how to feel anymore... I really cared about Matt, but he's been doing everything he can to hurt me back and it's really hard to feel bad about what I've done when he's being such a dick"
When I say that she wraps her arm around my shoulders.
"So what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to be with Ashley and I'm going to keep my distance from Matt"
I can't be around him anymore.
We both need to move on.
"Spence he's probably going to be at the BBQ tomorrow"
"I know that's why I'm thinking I won't go"
"Spencer it's your BBQ"
"Mum I think it's best for everyone if we just make it Glen's BBQ..."
"Spencer there's no way we're just celebrating one of your birthdays"
I knew she'd say that.
It's a Carlin tradition.
We're twins, so we have joint parties or dinners every year.
"Okay I'll be there..."
I can't no show my own BBQ.
None of this drama is mums fault.
"I'll even make a salad"
When I say that she starts laughing.
"Spencer I want to meet her"
"Mum she's only just landed..."
"Invite her over for dinner"
"Mum..."
"I'll get your dad to make his famous meatloaf"
He does make a really good meatloaf.
"Mum I can't ask her to come here..."
"Why?"
"We've only just got together"
"So what?"
"It's too soon"
"Spencer haven't you just spent the last month travelling together?"
"Yer"
What does that have to do with anything?
"Spencer I want to meet her"
When she says that I hop up.
"On that note I'm leaving"
"Spencer..."
"Mum I've got to go"
"I want to meet her"
"Bye mum"
I quickly pull the door back and grab my keys off the table.
"Spencer invite her over for..."
"Bye mum"
"SPENCER?"
When she yells out my name I stop walking.
"Yer?"
"If you ever want someone to talk too I'm here"
I might take her up on that.
"Thanks mum"
I really need to go.
Ashley's back.
