SPENCER'S P.O.V
She doesn't look nervous, but I can tell she is.
This is a big step for her, it's a big step for us.
"Are you all alright?"
"Yer..."
"This is me"
When I turn the car off, I quickly lean across the middle console and brush my lips over hers.
"Nice place"
When she says that I start laughing.
"Ash my house is the same size as your pool house"
Okay I'm exaggerating.
My house is a decent size, but it's no Beverly Hills mansion.
"Size is irrelevant Spence, your house is more homey"
When she says that I smile.
"Come on let's get this over and done with"
When I hop out of the car she follows me to the front door.
"See what I mean Spence?"
She's pointing at the welcome mat.
"Homey"
When she says that I start laughing again.
"Ash most houses have a welcome mat"
"Mine doesn't..."
"Yours has a welcome Chandelier"
She's smiling.
"Welcome"
When I pull the door back I can hear mum and dad talking in the Kitchen.
"Awww look how cute you are?"
When she says that I turn around.
"Don't look at that Ash..."
She's laughing.
"Keep your eyes away from the photos"
When we get to the Kitchen mum's watching dad cook.
"Hey..."
"You made it"
Why's that surprising?
I told her we were coming.
"Sweetie I've been waiting for my phone to beep..."
She has the biggest smile on her face.
"Your father and I were convinced you'd bail"
"Your mother was convinced"
When dad says that I brush my hand down Ashley's back.
"Ashley this is my mum Paula and my dad Arthur"
"Hey it's nice to meet you both"
I watch her as she walks over to shakes their hands.
"You too sweetie we've heard a lot about you"
When mum says that I roll my eyes.
"Paula that's always a bit of a worry"
I can't believe my girlfriend's meeting my parents.
This is weird in many ways.
"So how was your flight?"
"It was good, I pretty much slept the whole way..."
"Are you glad to be home?"
"Yer I've really missed LA..."
"Well welcome to the mad house"
This house can be a little crazy.
"Thank you for having me"
When she looks over at me I smile.
"You're going to love Arthur's meatloaf"
When she says that I start laughing.
"Mum you're so strange"
Now everyone's laughing.
"Sorry Ashley that made me sound really strange..."
"She's been drinking"
When I say that mum rolls her eyes.
"Spencer you can't say things like that when we've just met"
"Why not?"
"First impressions are everything..."
I have the biggest smile on my face.
"And I don't want your girlfriend to think I'm an alcoholic"
"My girlfriend?"
That sounded so strange.
"Sorry am I not meant to call her that?"
I didn't mean it like that.
"No you are, it's just weird hearing you say it"
So far, so good.
Everyone's laughing.
"Ashley do you drink wine?"
My mum loves wine.
"I do"
She does?"
"You do?"
When she looks over at me I raise my eyebrows.
"I do"
I'm not sure if she actually likes wine or if she's just being polite.
"Ash dad has beer"
She's smiling.
"I also like beer..."
"I'll grab you that beer"
"Thanks"
When I walk past dad he has the biggest smile on his face.
"Let's go sit"
I quickly grab two beers and follow them into the living room.
"Paula you have a really nice place"
"Thank you"
When I sit down on the couch, I pass Ash her beer.
"Thanks"
I can't wait until this conversation's over.
"So where abouts in LA do you live?"
I'm pretty sure I've discussed this with mum already.
She knows all about her dad.
"Beverly Hills"
"Fancy..."
"Yer but it has it's pros and cons"
When she says that I move my hand so it's resting on her leg.
"Mum go easy on the questioning..."
"Sweetie I just asked her where she lives..."
"I know I'm just getting in early"
"It's okay Spencer I don't mind"
She's going to regret that.
"Ashley just tell me to shut up if I'm being annoying..."
"Or you could just not be annoying"
"Spencer I'm just trying to get to know the girl who convinced my daughter to be gay"
Did I hear that right?
"Mum?"
She just snorted.
"I'm joking..."
"And I didn't turn her gay"
When Ash says that we all start laughing.
"I don't care Ashley I love gay people"
She's so weird.
"I watch the Ellen Degeneres show all the time and I have Melissa Etheridge's greatest hits album"
That's hilarious.
"Mum are they the only gay people you know?"
"No I know Elton John and George Michael..."
I turn so I'm facing Ash.
"She's still getting her head around the whole gay thing"
"She's doing very well"
She actually is.
She's been really good.
"I'm just messing with her Ashley, Spencer thinks I'm really annoying, so I thought I would be"
Ashley's really amused.
"I don't want to disappoint her"
