Boston is burning
Part 54
The team arrived at Ronald Reagan and joined Fornell and the BAU on their plane. Gibbs looked them over and noted they did not seem like a typical FBI Unit. He was rather shocked to see a young woman with long blonde hair tugging a bag behind her that looked to be all computers. He noted that the tall African American agent went over and grabbed her bag and carried it for her.
"Garcia what are you doing here?" He asked. "What it looks like you've got all your gear any of this a regular go bag?"
"Well my chocolate Adonis Agent Hotchner was ordered to bring me with. It seems that you may need my magic fingers. I promise not to look less then my best if you decide to wine and dine me."
"Really, is it that bad?" Derek asked. ""Yeah, well maybe when we get back ok; you never look like less than a goddess."
Garcia's friendly demeanor suddenly paled and she said sadly. "Worse Morgan, a nightmare worse than even the Reaper, we they will need all of us to help we have to save those girls and catch the monsters."
"Ok, I'll help you load your babies." Morgan said looking pale. "We'll catch them baby girl. We will stop them. It's not like they are out to end the world or anything."
Penelope Garcia suddenly looked as pale as a ghost. "Don't even joke about it Morgan, they are ending the world of a lot of innocent people some who are only children innocent children who were butchered."
He nodded suddenly looking concerned for his coworker. "Yes of course you are right." He helped her onto the plane.
"Boss who is all joining us?" Tony asked. He looked really concerned.
"The agents from the BAU and Fornell along with computer specialist, Fornell said we will be meeting police or CIS units from Miami Dade, Las Vegas and perhaps even FBI from L.A. We may even be getting some NICS from L.A. other locations this killing spree appears to be nationwide and perhaps even international."
"Boss how many …"
"Hundreds Tony, hundreds of young women killed by some mad cult, by men who thought they had the right to determine their destiny." Ducky explained looking away and deeply disturbed.
"Sounds like they were power hungry Ducky." Tim said. "Well we got a lot of good law enforcement here and the BPD are not slouched either we catch them. I never heard of a cult like this though. What would drive them?"
"Yes, but will it be before they kill again." Ducky said sadly. "They want to save the world and think they are doing so by their actions."
"That nuts;" Tim said. "How can killing someone save the world?"
Ducky looked at him and sighed but before he could answer.
"We need everyone to board now." SSA Hotchner said. "We are leaving in five minutes. Un-subs tend to have their own rules and world view agent, it does not have to be logical or make sense to those who are sane."
Tim nodded and headed to the plane.
"Well at least we are not flying coach."Tony quipped. Trying to break the tension and feeling bad that his friend's world view was about to be shattered more. Tim was still innocent in so many ways and he hated that his friend would lose some of that with this case. However Tony knew that it was bound to happen sooner or later and better he and the boss and Ziva be there to keep him safe and to perhaps lessen the blow. He watched as Abbey bounded up the stairs. Well at least she would be safe in the labs with the medical examiners. Tony knew the BPD they were good people and had solid lab security he knew Abbey and Ducky would be safe there at least maybe safer than their own labs of late.
"I would rather fly myself." Ziva said. She hated being in a plane with people she did not know or trust. However she had a feeling that her words did not comfort the various other agents as she looked ready to shoot someone. The news she had heard from her father enraged her and she was so going to kill someone for their butchering of children and inflaming the hate in her homeland.
Xxxxxxxxxx
Robin Brookes looked at her lover and sighed he was not going to let these killings go. She sighed and said. "All right Don I've gotten permission for you and a few members of your team to fly to Boston to help with the investigation. My boss at justice is just as worried about these killings as your team. It seems someone's connected some dots and this may be a serial cult or something. It is not something we have ever seen before and the more information we get the worse it is we've been asked to help BPD with this investigation it is going to be a multi-jurisdictional taskforce with the FBI only being one part of the investigation. The task force will include the FBI, NCIS, BPD, Miami PD, Las Vegas PD and several others and perhaps even Mossad and Interpol and probably others we not yet heard from."
"You are kidding right Robin?" Don said looking a little shocked at the revelation. "How many deaths and how many years has this been going on and I thought we had some suspects? I heard from a contact several are in Boston and are somehow involved in the investigation which makes no kind of sense to me. I mean why don't they just arrest the suspects?"
"No, it doesn't but this is complicated because several of the suspects seem to have diplomatic immunity and we've been told that we have proof they may be being framed by whoever is really doing these killings. It sounds insane and crazy. That part I am not so certain of but they suspect/s are being …vouched for by some of the highest and most influential people in this country and several others. It is a political minefield"
Colby Granger snorted at that. "Yeah right so who's vouching for them, I mean so what if they have connections if they did the deed they need to go down. I doubt I'd by any alibi I mean it's not like they are being vouched for by the director or the president right?" He said that with sarcasm not thinking anyone could have connections high enough to prevent them from being taken for multiple murders.
"Not exactly but one of the suspects did receive a presidential pardon the other the Medal of Honor from this country and several awards from various other world leaders. So unless we find absolute proof of her guilt… well she's Teflon and honestly if we found proof I be willing to bet the president simply write another pardon for her or her sisters."
"What no way?" Colby said "Who the hell are they? You make them sound like they are some sort secret agents or heroes or something and medal of honor we have heard of that surely?" He could not believe what he was hearing. He had been being sarcastic but somehow his snarky quip seemed to be true which was simply impossible. Black operators or not there were rules and safeguards to prevent people from going off the deep end. Hell he had to go undercover for years to stop one such killer. There was no way that any agency would allow someone or a group to go around killing children for shits and giggles and not stop them no way.
"Its classified Colby, some sort of black operation and I cannot even find proof that Buffy Summers was in the Military at the time." Robin said. "It's insane I got chewed by the Director when I tried to look into it and a visit from some men in black. No not like Will Smith but they were clearly military but in black fatigues and I was warned off. It was more than clear that someone was protecting her group."
"You should have told us." Don said looking worried suddenly. Who dare threaten his family? He would have someone head for that.
"Well if I had we would all be out of work." Robin said. "It was downright scary Don. I was told that it was a matter of National security."
Don gave her a dark look. However he said nothing and waited for his team to give him more information as he could see several members looking for information on the people Robin mentioned.
"Buffy Summers I know that name," David Sinclair said as he went to his computer and typed it in her name. He ignored the byplay to look it up the name he remembered." Here it is I know I remembered her, she burnt down her high school gym and was wanted for murder when a fellow student was murdered in their high school she and her friend Faith got hauled in for killing the Deputy Mayor of Sunnydale. Faith got convicted for that because of a confession…what it says she was pardoned by the president. What the hell Robin, Liz are you getting this? …. How did killers get away like that?"
"I don't know David but Don you need to be careful when you head out there. David you need to stay here and run checks on the local deaths with Colby as back up. I only got authorization for me and Don to head out on the plus side they have also asked for Charlie's to run the patterns along with Larry's help and Amita's. Someone playing with computers out there and her expertise was requested and likely required they are even pulling in the BAU and their computer expert. This is bad and scary but I know you won't let this go so I'd rather look at it with permission. However the whole team can't go as we need someone to look at the deaths here in California."
"I am going with you." Megan said. "I think you will need me to profile these people. I know the BAU going but, I want to be there to keep an eye out. If what I am reading here is right then these killers will be after more young women soon. You are going to need my help on this if I am reading this right the killer will soon be escalating in Boston and they will not stop if it s a cult then the more eyes on the better. Even with the BAU on it another profiler might help. If nothing else I can help coordinate with the other teams. This thing looks like it is a nightmare." She shuffled the files around and began making notes.
"I'm not sure that we can get authorization." Robin explained. "I mean we are flying on the government's dime. They are flying a lot of teams in and they are trying to stay under the radar." However she was handing out packets to the entire team with the information about the investigation she pieced together so far. She had been hoping Megan would offer she felt better if another agent was there to watch their backs. She wanted to ensure Don was safe and having Liz and Megan along would help ease her concerns besides it would take all of them to keep Charlie and Larry out of trouble if their past cases were anything to go by.
"What if we book a private flight?" Charlie suggested as he read the reports his mind working numbers. "We could leave when we want and we'd only need permission for Megan and Liz to go I'm sure Robin could get it if we say we need them to feel safe. Look we are going to need a full team there. I can book the flight it won't be that much and I know I'd feel safer if Don has back up. Having two other agents there will be best. I mean the other groups will have full teams right? We won't need a pathologist as they have several but Megan's a great agent and profiler who knows her way around the medical reports if we need it. Larry, Amita and I can run the numbers and computer simulations while Don does the investigations. Robin can work with the A.D.A. Cabot from New York it says that she has a connection because of cases and with one of the people who is helping with the investigation."
Robin and Liz looked at each other and nodded. Both loved Don Eppes but they could work together and frankly given the situation they were a better fit then the male agents, lord knows there be enough male hormones in Boston with the various agencies. Besides they would both be needed to keep him safe as he tended to run head long into danger. They were friends and that meant they could work together regardless of what of the relationships were. Megan was a friend to them both and they both knew she would be able to profile the other teams as well to ensure their guy was safe. This sounded really bad as if there was someone covering up these murders and she did not like that idea at all.
"Charlie that is going to cost a lot I'm not sure I am happy with the idea of you paying for it." Don said. He sometimes forgot his brother was independently wealthy and he had no intention of his brother paying for him to do his job. Hell in this case he'd almost rather Charlie and the others stayed home and safe. He was feeling almost set up and that was not a good feeling. Don did not want to take his people into danger and he sure as hell did not want Charlie to pay to be in life or death situations.
"Don its only money and I want to help save these children. I also want to work with some of the people on this task force." He was flipping through the files and he was beginning to smile as he read them. "While I am not into computers as much as Amita there are several experts there that use mathematics in ways I've never seen before in programming. I'd like to meet them and this is a very important investigation. We can do this and if Robin needs our help to do this then I am in. Larry, Amita how about it are you two in this could be very interesting and they really do need all hands to catch these killers? It's going to take all our skills to catch them and we can learn a lot as well."
"I am, I have always wanted to meet Penelope Garcia she is supposed to be one of the best in the world in data analysis and her system is supposed to be second to none. I could learn so much and maybe set up a system like that here to help with our cases. I've also read several papers from Dr. Isles while I am not as interested in pathology as she is she has made some rather interesting theories on how the human mind works like a computer. Some say she has an almost computer like mind. I love to meet her as well she is supposed to have a near perfect memory and Dr. Spencer Reid is also going to be there his papers are absolute fantastic even if he has moved away from statically analysis of late. Also if this packet is right then Dr. Willow Rosenberg is also there and she is reported to be the best in the world when it comes to programming and hacking even if it was not for this case I'd want to go."
Don looked little confused and stunned but he knew he was not talking his family and friends out of this. Maybe he had better let them go with him because he had a bad feeling they would turn up anyway "All right than arrange the flight Charlie and Robin see if you can get us all cleared to join this task force. I am however going to insist we are all together we are not taking any chances. It seems these killers are striking out now and I won't let us become targets. Colby we need safety equipment and more gear both computers and weapons I want us loaded up."
"We will be careful Don; I got a flight we can leave as soon as we can all get to the airport."Charlie explained. "Colby can your guy meet us?"
"Yeah he's sending the stuff it will be there. Where should he meet you?" Colby asked. "I mean how will he load you all up? We might need to carry it on ourselves. I may not be going with but I will need to be there to get the gear he will only give it to me. It's his way of staying safe."
"Send him to the private parking lot b parking spot 100." Charlie said with a grin he was enjoying shocking his brother and his co workers they thought he was just a boring math professor. He grinned wickedly enjoying playing the secret agent now. They seemed to forget that he sometimes worked for the NSA.
"What how?" Liz asked. She looked shocked. "Never mind I so don't want to know at least we will get our back up gear. Amita do you have a list of what you will need or will you be taking your own? If you need something special it might be better to get it in Boston."
"I will take my own I think it would be best. Of course I will need clearance to hook up with the other computers but I'm sure you can arrange that for us right Robin?" Amita said. "We need to be able to communicate with the others computers and to get information from around the country and world."
"We need to cover the bases." Liz said. "I hope no one raises any flags on our equipment."
"Yeah, I'll arrange it and if you need any other equipment we will get it." Robin agreed. There was no way she would not let Amita and Charlie have all they would need to work the case. She was asking a lot but she'd be damned if they did not get all the clearance they needed and support to do the job well. Robin sighed and decided she almost did not want to know about the firepower either but Liz was right. They needed the gear and if Colby get it and Charlie could secure them transportation to carry a small armory then she'd make sure it was all legal. "I'll ensure we have secure base to work from I'll find us a house or something, and make sure no one bitches about our equipment whatever kind it is."
"I just called a friend." Charlie explained "What I do have top secret clearance. We got a go to bring it into Boston. They cannot expect us to come in unarmed and unprepared to hunt these madmen."
"Charlie right we need to fly out privately it's the best way. We can take the gear we will need without the hassles. It's no different than the BAU flight only the government gets a break on the cost." Megan said. "We can carry more firepower that way. I for one want to be loaded to bear these un-subs sound insane. Colby can you get us some extra firepower and safety equipment later if we need it in Boston, or will we need to carry it all with us?"
"Yeah I know a guy he can help us out there. His team mates are here on the west coast but he and his co got sent to D.C. He owes me so I'm sure he will hook us up." He said as he said and pulled out his phone and scrolled down. "Hey Graham its Colby I need a favor man."
Larry typed into his phone. Then he looked up with a smile "I have a place for us to stay." Everyone looked at him in shock. "What I know people too. It will be safe and secure and it's only a few blocks from BPD."
"Well then that is taken care of."Don said. "Let's get going. Thank's Larry it will help a lot."
Larry nodded. He briefly wondered if he should warn the team about the fact that they would be staying with witches. No, maybe not they already thought he was a little crazy and this case had nothing to do with the supernatural afterall.

Catherine Willows leaned back in the seat. It was absolutely decadent. She was not going to think about how much this was costing. She just hoped her father Sam Braun did not think this meant all was forgiven because he was providing a ride for them. However in this case it was needed. Her teammates were all on board and they would be leaving for Boston soon. She was just glad that she could help with the flight on so short of notice. Catherine was shocked when Sam sat down beside her. She turned as he reached around and locked her safety belt on.
"Buckle up Catherine we are about to take off."
"Sam what are you doing here?"
"I am going with you. There is more going on then you know Catherine and I am going with you to help. I have some friends who might be able to help with this case."
"What do you mean Sam?" Gil Grisham asked he set the file he had been reading aside. He like Catherine did not like that Sam seemed interested in this case. That never bode well for the team.
"It is necessary Gil, Sam and I will be needed to help your people enter certain communities." Lady Heather said shocking the L.V. Crime scene investigators. Both looked pole axed to see them there and even more so when they noted how she was dressed.
"Lady Heather what is your interest in this case?" Sara asked as she set her case down and took a seat." I almost did not recognize you?" That was a dig as the Domme was dressed rather conservatively for her. The expensive business suit could have come off a New York runway.
"Justice Sara, and believe me without Sam and I you will not get too far. This case is far darker than anything you have ever investigated and it will take you into worlds you will not be able to navigate and without someone to walk you through them you may not survive."
Sara jumped up. She was reaching for her weapon and handcuffs. "I don't like to be threatened Lady Heather!"
Gil caught her and pulled her back discharging a weapon in a plane was foolish and he had no doubt Heather could easily escape any cuffs. "What world; the world of you have created or the world we walk in?"
"No Grisham she is being honest, if you want to solve these murders you will need us. I have not always been on the side of angels you both know that but this, these crimes are not something I will allow. Had I known they were happening I would have done whatever I had to do to stop them from killing those children I would have helped bury the killers!"
"Sam you can't say things like that." Catherine said. She might have issues with her father but she was not about to let him admit he might commit a crime.
"Catherine sometimes you have to draw a line. I have never let anyone who was involved with any of my business hurt an innocent child. There are rules. I know you may not believe that but there are. The world is a lot darker then you know. I have a code and I live by it. Some rules can never be broken." Sam said he looked over at Heather who nodded clearly agreeing with him. "Some crimes can never be pardoned or forgiven and some people are sacred and you do not harm them no matter what."
"Sam is right, in fact I dare say had he ended the killers he would have been granted immunity for it. The people committing these crimes are not your run of the mill criminal. They are sadist but, they will not be called into account by your laws. A higher law will judge them. They are already under death sentence. They are dead men and women walking even if they do not know it yet." Heather said looking out the window. "Perhaps the goddess will have mercy on them for we shall not. I promise you they will pay for their crimes with their lives."
"Gil she just threatened to kill someone." Sara said. It was not a shock to Catherine that Sara was not a fan of Lady Heather but she also knew a large part of that was the green eyed monster because as much as Grisham did not like to admit it to anyone he was drawn to Heather like a moth to a flame and that pissed Sara off. Catherine stopped the CSI from going after the Domme it would not help their situation and really it would be hypocritical of her to get angry at Sam and Heather for wanting to shoot these animals when that thought had already crossed her mind more than once. While she was a little shocked at her and Sam's blunt remarks she knew that the crimes they were investigating were dark and sick and frankly she might consider shooting the killers herself in broad daylight because they were sick and because the girls they killed were all her daughter's age and as a parent she got their anger and rage even if she would do her best to arrest them and bury the killers under the prison instead of shooting them.
"Sara don't threatening is not doing and you can't arrest her for saying what anyone witnessing those pictures would not want to do. We will catch the killers and lock them up. No one will be taking justice into their own hands." Catherine said. She looked over at Gil and hoped he could pull Sara back.
"There will be no killings of suspects or even the guilty the law will run its course." Gil said pulling Sara back and almost onto his lap. He would not let Sara start a fight because his gut told him they would need both Lady Heather and Sam even if a part of him was worried sick at that idea. He also knew Heather could and would break Sara if she was foolish enough to attack her that was if Sam did not do so first.
Lady Heather shook her head a little disappointed. "If I kill it will be justice. I will have the law on my side." She pulled out something from her pocket and tossed it at the CSI's. "Some of us are far more than we seem to be officers." With that she went to Sam's side. She knew her papers would make her position clear and end any argument about her rights under the law.
Sam rose from his seat and offered it to Lady Heather with a small bow. "You need not dirty your hands my lady. If killing is needed I shall do it for you." Sam kissed her hand and knelt at her feet shocking his daughter and the other CSI's "Or at our Kings command or the Queens even if she belongs to the SWWW."
"My Brother will not ask that of you Sam. He will likely want that pleasure himself as they have targeted Maura. However I shall tell him of your offer and it will be rewarded." Heather said with a sad smile. "I am sure he or the count will be happy to invest in your new hotel."
"Yes, my lady." Sam said. "That would be most welcome."
Catherine looked at Grisham and Sara and wondered what rabbit hole they had fallen into. Her father was by no means submissive but he was kneeling at Heather's feet and this was just too strange.
"Do not worry Catherine no one will expect you to bow down to our Lord at least not until you understand what is going on and who he is. Your father is a good and just man despite what you may believe and an honorable one, he honors his commitments even those from years ago. He and I are old and dear friends but not the kind you might believe. He is family to me and because of this I will help keep you and your team safe and try to help you solve these murders though I think perhaps you will not thank us for altering your world view." Heather said "Americans rarely understand that their laws are not the only ones out there."
"I don't understand?" Grisham said. "What laws? Who is your Lord?"
Heather smiled and said. "Just because a Kingdom does not have traditional boarders does not mean it does not exist. I came out here years ago to help guide our people here in the south west. Our allies have been killed by mad men and women and our lord and king is not happy with what he has learned nor are any of our allies in your world or ours. Their queen will have justice for her subjects and she will end the killers and your nation will allow it. We are merely along to try to keep this task out from the eyes of your world."
"What the hell you are crazy." Sara said. "There no way that will happen."
Heather looked away as Grisham opened the wallet she had tossed at him. He froze as he pulled out the passport and opened it. Then he cursed. "Really you had this and you still let us put you through that investigation?"
Heather shrugged and said. "I was not guilty so I did not need that protection."
"Really, is that why you did not care if you beat that bastard to death?" He asked. "You had Diplomatic Immunity?"
"He deserved it." Heather replied. "Were it not for….a friend I would have chosen death. However they needed my help so I stayed for now. When this is over, perhaps I shall rest."
Grisham felt a cold chill as he listened to her. He silently vowed that would not happen. He would not let her choose death over life. She was to important to just give up and die. He noted Sam caught her hand and kissed it almost begging her to react. "No my lady, please."
"My daughter and granddaughter were killed Grisham without them life has little value to me. However I owe my brother a debt and I shall repay it and perhaps getting to know my nieces and her wife will be worth living a while longer. I understand they have found a child and may adopt her. That interests me as she is said to be rather powerful."
"There is always a brighter day." Gill said. "You taught me that."
"Perhaps, or perhaps not; we shall see." She replied. "Justice however will be done."

Boston is burning
Part 55
'The Red Witch was down for the moment. That was some of the best news he had heard. Of course his partner did not seem to realize that this was at best a temporary victory. However he was not nearly as short sighted and decided to have their people cause a bit more Chaos. With luck it would make the slayers and their allies careless and enflame the demon community into doing some of their work for them. He texted a message and sat back to watch the carnage that would soon be unleashed, he so loved stupid minions who followed orders blindly and never considered the cost of their actions. He smiled as he considered the favors he would gain from certain Demons who had been dealing with the police disrupting their smuggling rings. Yes he would gather power and make life difficult for the slayers. Travers may believe he was the leader and in charge but he would soon learn he was merely a patsy. Post sipped his drink and leaned back. One had to love these 24 hour dinners they served food all day and for such a low place the food was actually quite good.'
"Let's go pig hunting." The small man said as he jumped out of the van.
His partner sighed but pulled his mask down and followed his co worker into the bar. As soon as they entered it they opened fire shooting everyone in sight. When they left over a dozen people would be dead or dying in this long time cop bar and it would send shock waves through Boston when the message was read to the press. "It's open season on Pigs who rut in our turf."
The news would break and Boston would be reeling once more and the humans and demons who were once on friendly terms were now closing ranks against each other exactly as Post wanted.

'Who should we take next? There are so many choices. I am almost sorry to have gathered our forces as they seem to be striking out against the plan.' He paused and turned some pages on his book. He had a few ideas for rituals as he considered his options. 'While confusion is desired the lack of organization or meanings in these attacks is disturbing. I While killing is amusing this is not going to aid my plan to gain power. Some of the beings killed could have been harvested. I must think on this some.' Travers sat back at his desk and thought about his plans. However he had to admit that the distraction to the locals and the slayers was useful. He just was a little worried that they were drawing perhaps a little too much attention to their activities. He wanted to destroy Summers and her rebellious slayers and witches however he did not wish local and international law to suddenly decide that the Council was something to be feared they had to have a careful balance.' Travers began planning the next snatch and grab. He needed more power. He wrote notes down on the ritual he wanted to use to gather more power and the locations and times that would be optimal.

"Alex we are not leaving the country. We do not run from terrorists and Lucas is family I will see what I can do to get him some protection. I'll call the Mayors of both New York and Boston if I must hell I'll get the governors involved. No one will be allowed to attack a Cabot!"
"Father please, I am not asking this lightly and frankly its Lucas' idea that you take mother to Europe. As for protection I am rather certain he has that covered. The Count is in the country and you know he is always well guarded." Alex Cabot said. She was clearly exasperated with her parents.
"We are coming down Alex. This is not going to be allowed to go on. I know that William and Constance Isles are there and it won't be said a Cabot cut and run while the Isles stood and guarded Boston and this nation. I know you and Luc are there but damn it this is not going to be allowed. It is as much our legacy to protect the nation as yours. We will be there in three hours our house will be open and you and your people can stay with us. You will need a home for safety. Our security systems are some of the best out there and I am having them upgraded even now by some of Luc friends as he knows you and yours will need a place to stay. He was going to have you stay at his home but that is not clearly not possible, so deal with the fact that we will be there to help. Now I have to go pack." He hung up before Alex could argue more.
Alex Cabot began cursing shocking the members of SUV unit. "Damn it all this is insane."
"What has happened Alex?" Captain Caragan asked looking worried. He walked over to Alex along with Doctor Wong and Detectives Stabler and Benison.
"I just asked my parents to head to Europe for safety as they may become targets."
This shocked the detectives and their boss.
"Why is that?" asked Elliot Stabler looking confused.
"It's complicated and family but…one of the people involved in the investigation is a relative of ours." Alex said hedging. No way was she ever admitting she thought Luc was either her brother, cousin or uncle likely the later but she knew he was family.
"Well how does that make him a target?" Olivia questioned.
"He has certain….connections and they are targets and or were considered suspect. Whoever has done this has attacked his home and set it on fire. He called me wanting me to get mom and dad out of the country to be safe but…they won't go as they have learned some of our family friends are involved in this investigation. They feel since the Isles are involved and have opened their home to have the BPD and others stay for safety sake we as Cabot's can do no less. So I guess you and Olivia will be staying with us at our home in Boston. We need to go I have a plane waiting at the airport for us. I suppose I should have expected father to react this way."
"Why?"
"Captain he is never rational where my b-Luc is involved." Alex said looking away not willing to spill her family's secret not that she cared hell she would gladly claim him as family but he did not want that so they honored it.
"You had better go because if I remember correctly the Isles tend to move fast when they want something and Alex is no slouch either so her folks might just leave you lot behind." Fin said.
Munch snorted at t hat. He shook his head knowing full well that it was bad. He might be considered a conspiracy nut by many but he did know that the world was not as many thought it and when he considered the situation carefully he had a feeling his teammates eyes were about to be opened to the dark. He felt bad for them. He rose and made a decision. While he had not been invited along there was no way he was letting his friends go in blind someone who knew about the night life had to go along. "Captain I think I need to go along with them."
Caregan looked at him sharply. "Munch we won't be able to spare you with Elliot and Olivia gone."
"This is not a request Captain. I am going. I do believe I have over a month's vacation time. I can take it if I have to." Munch said firmly.
"I still can't spare you." Caregan said looking annoyed.
"John we will be ok." Alex said knowing he would not let this go.
Support came from an unexpected source. "We could use the help. The others will be bringing full teams as well." Dr. Wong said. He locked eyes with the detective and saw him nod. He knew that Munch saw more than most but he had never expected him to be in the know. Though he perhaps should have realized it given his rather dark outlook on things and his wariness in certain areas he recalled the one time he had been to the Detectives home no verbal invite had happened.
"I can barely afford to send Olivia and Elliot. I'm sorry Munch."
John Munch sighed he had always known it would come down to this one day. Some case would cause him to leave the NYPD behind. He sighed deeply. "Then so am I sir. He pulled out his gun and badge and handed it to his boss. "I have to do this even if it as private citizen."
The doctor spoke up shocking them all. "John I'll get you credentials. They will be waiting for us in Boston."
"What no, Munch you can't just quit." Fin said looking a little hurt and betrayed as his partner causally handed in his badge and gun.
"Fin, you are my partner and friend but this has to happen. I have to go. We need to keep them safe. The Doctor and I we will be needed."
Stabler bristled at the idea he might need to be protected. He was a damned fine cop and a former Marine. No one had to protect him. He was the one who guarded others.
"Well enough John's right we need him." Alex said. "Let's go then." She turned and headed out knowing that there would be hell to pay for this later.
Caregan cursed. "Have a good vacation John and we will be talking when you get back."
Munch turned to face his captain and nodded smiling sadly. "Yeah sure thing captain, when we get back."
Caregan felt cold suddenly like someone walked over his grave as he suddenly realized Munch did not expect to return….at least not alive.
