Guys. GUYS. I re-read the previous chapters and I am freaking inconsistent. I am so sorry.

Byakuran was panicking. He closed his eyes and opened them, then checked both of his hands. Finding nothing there, he quickly patted his clothes and searched his pockets. The results were the same-nothing.

"Oh no," he moaned, hitting his forehead with a palm, "I couldn't have lost it! Now way! But where is it?!"

He paced around in the dark cell, then thought to check the room. 'Maybe it fell around here somewhere…' The boy's purple eyes roved over the dirty floor in the holding cell. As far as he could see, there was nothing shiny or that resembled his ring on the ground.

He dropped to his knees and crawled around the room to be completely sure that the ring wasn't there, he also checked every nook and cranny, only to come up with the same result-nothing.

"No, no, no, no, no. It has to be here! It has to be!" he pulled at his hair. Where could it be?! The ring was important to their family, not to mention he himself liked it very much as well.

Father will surely have my head once he knows about this,' he thought glumly as he leant his head back against the wall.

Now that he'd stopped thinking about the ring, he noticed that he was all alone. Where were the others? They were together not too long ago. Surely, he couldn't have just been dreaming that he was escaping this place, right? Or maybe that was it, and all that about losing the ring was just a big dream.

He tried quite unsuccessfully to convince himself that that was the case.

He stood up and paced back in forth in an attempt to calm his nerves. He deserved that much, he thought. After all, he was just a child and he'd been through a lot (of illegal experimentations, but a lot all the same) in the span of a couple of months. Now that he was alone and able to move freely to an extent, it was about time for him to have that extremely late panic attack that he should have had when he was first kidnapped.

A few minutes of pacing around did little to bring down the anxiety level. It also did not help when the door suddenly swung open and a man with red streaks in his hair stepped into the room. Upon seeing the white haired boy, he raised an eyebrow.

"You're awake already, huh? ...What the heck are you doing?" he made a face as the boy began pulling at his hair.

The man shook his head. "All the people here have become lunatics." he muttered to himself. He held a clipboard in a hand and he glanced down quickly at it. "Huh," a contemplative look passed his face, "Byakuran Gesso?" he asked, just to be sure. The boy hesitantly nodded in acknowledgement.

"Hn," the man reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small silver object. He held it to his eyes to inspect it himself then tossed the object to Byakuran after doing so. "Here," he grunted.

Byakuran caught the object between his palms instinctively. When he looked down to see just what it was, his eyes widened.

It was the Mare Ring.

Seconds after Tsuna had been given something to eat, he promptly passed out on the table. The man who had brought his food poked him warily. When the brunet didn't stir, he let his hand drop.

"I guess the medication worked, huh…" He stood up and hoisted the unconscious boy over his shoulder, keeping one hand on his back to keep him from falling and holding the tray with his other hand.

Although he thought it a bit strange that the medicine had knocked him out instead of making him drowsy, he wasn't supposed to dwell much on it, so he didn't.

He passed by the kitchen first to drop off the tray that had been used and then continued on his way to where the boss had asked him to bring the boy.

It was also strange, he decided, that nearly all of the researches that went on in the facility only involved technology and he had never seen any children there before.

Okay, maybe he saw a few kids from time to time in the medical section, but they were just there to test the effectivity of those syrups that were supposed to make a child grow taller. This one was… he didn't even know.

Now if only he could get the boss to give him a raise…

"Kufufu, you look like someone who has a pretty high standing in society," Mukuro mused as he took in the rest of Daemon Spade's appearance.

Daemon crossed his arms and smirked. "Of course. And what about you? Are you part of this...place?" he looked around and wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Such a waste for a boy with great taste in hair such as you." Mukuro snorted at this.

"You wish," he replied. "This must be the lowest of low people can be. Even I would have liked to be out of this place as soon as possible."

He plopped down on the floor, suddenly feeling very tired. He looked so much older than his age. Daemon bit his lip to keep from making a snide remark.

"We were just escaping...and we were succeeding! But for some reason, they were still so much stronger, even after completing their experiments on us, we still stood no chance, and we were defeated. The next thing I know, I'm in here, and everybody else is gone. Nagi is gone. They have her. They have her…"

Mukuro sighed and closed his eyes then lay on the floor with his arms spread beside him.

"Hn," Daemon was oddly moved by the story for whatever reason. He knelt down beside Mukuro. "It seems like you could use some help." He said, and he thought himself to be out of character. He had no clue what was possessing him to offer his help to a kid he didn't even know. Hopefully, this was a one-time thing.

Hearing his words, Mukuro opened his eyes and blinked in confusion. "What?" Daemon sighed in annoyance. He didn't like repeating himself.

"I said, I'll help you get out of here."

The boy peered at the adult suspiciously. "Really. And what's the catch?"

Daemon felt slightly insulted. "You think I only help people if they give something in return?"

Mukuro shrugged. "You seem a lot like me; a person who does favors for other people because it benefits them." he said honestly.

'Wow,' Daemon blinked. The kid had a good instinct. The man was slightly impressed. "You're right about that," he admitted, "but I'm feeling especially generous today so just accept the offer before I change my mind."

"That sounds really tempting but I need to find my sister."

Daemon put a hand on his chin in thought. "Well we clearly don't have the time to be doing that right now…" He frowned before suddenly snapping his fingers in triumph. "I know! Since you can't just disappear without any traces, we'll replace you with an illusion. While we escape, the illusion can be the one to snoop around and look for your sister." Mukuro looked doubtful.

"And what if it gets found out?"

Daemon was offended. "I have the best illusions. This plan will be a success."

"Hm, alright then." Mukuro agreed hesitantly, still wary of whether the adult's plan would be effective.

And with that, Daemon's ingenious plan was set in motion.

This is so bad I'm so sorry. Mukuro and Daemon made my eyes bleed. They are simply more suited to being sadistic perverts.
