I hung up the phone after talking to Jack for about 10 minutes. He was my cousin's best friend and he had just got accepted to the same college as me. He was excited to start his studies here, but he had a problem. He didn't have a place to stay.
"Hey, Tom, you know we have an extra room in our dorm, right?" I said to my roommate as I walked into our living room. He was sitting on the couch, watching TV.
"Yeah, I know. It used to be Richard's before he graduated and moved out last semester. Why do you ask?" Tom said, turning his head towards me./p
"Well, I have a favour to ask you. Jack's friend Jim is coming here to study and he needs a place to crash. He's a cool guy, he's a friend of my cousin, so he's like family. I thought we could offer him our room."
"Sure, why not? It would be nice to have some company and split the rent. He's not a jerk or anything, right?"
"No, no, he's cool. He's into sports and music and stuff. You'll like him."
"Ok, then. Just let the housing office know that we're taking him in. They need to update their records and stuff."
"Ok, I'll do that right now. Then I'm heading to Kim and Jane's place. You know they have a new flatmate, right? She's pretty hot, I heard."
"Oh, you mean MJ? Yeah, I've seen her around campus. She used to date Sam before they broke up a few weeks ago. She's cute, but not my type."
"Really? Well, lucky me then. I have a date with her tonight."
You dog! How do you do it? You already have the twins wrapped around your finger and now you want MJ too?"
"Hey, don't hate the player, hate the game. I'm just living my best life."
I grinned and left for Kim and Jane's place. I couldn't wait to see MJ and have some fun with her.
I walked into the housing office and saw a long line of students waiting to talk to the clerk. I sighed and joined the queue. After about 20 minutes of waiting, it was finally my turn.
"Hi, I'm here to register Jim Sheldon as my new roommate," I said and gave them Jim's name and student number.
"He's going to stay with me and Tom in dorm 12B," I added.
"Ok, sir, we've assigned Jim to your dorm. He'll be arriving on the 3rd of next month," the clerk said and handed me a confirmation slip.
"Thanks," I said and walked out.
I checked my watch and saw that I had 15 minutes to get to Kim and Jane's place. They lived in a nice apartment near campus with their new flatmate MJ. I had met MJ once before at a party and we hit it off right away. She was smart, funny and gorgeous. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes that sparkled when she smiled.
I hoped they were ready for me because I was ready for them.
