7 Confrontation
Honestly it could have gone worse. But it could also have gone so much better. Wally shivered as he stared down at his best friend who was laid out on the pavement still in that disturbingly unfamiliar tan jumpsuit that was now spattered with the blood of her teammates. Zatana was clutching her arm which was still bleeding profusely. Superboy was nursing his ribs, Artemis's bow was broken as was her leg, Kaldur was out cold and Rocket was bleeding from the head. M'ggan had flown off to meet the Bio Ship halfway. She'd had a broken arm and a shattered ankle. Wally was nursing several cuts himself and he was pretty sure one of his ribs was broken. It had taken all of them to take Robin down in the end. She'd found Rocket, Zatana and Aqualad first. Batgirl had called the others in to help them when the fight had started. Wally had been just in time to keep Diane from ripping open Kaldur's chest. All of them were exhausted and worried. She hadn't said a word to any of them but M'ggan had read her mind during the fight and almost dropped from the sky. All she'd heard was one of her closest friends screaming, trapped in her own mind watching everything that was happening. The Bio Ship arrived and they loaded up. They hated to do it but they had no choice, they put Robin in the brig. She was still out cold but none of them knew how long that would last. Soon they were back in the Batcave. Batman was waiting as was an older man in a black tux and plain black domino mask. Wally was limping behind Superboy who was carrying Robin as he was in the best shape. Batman remained silent as he took his daughter from the Kryptonian. He turned to the small medical wing as the man in the tux turned to the gathered teens.
"The Batman has this well in hand. I would like to thank you for finding her. She means so much to all of us. I am here to assist you with your injuries. You may call me Agent A." He sat each of them down and expertly and quickly cared for each of their wounds. A few minutes later Batman stuck his head out of the medical suite.
"Agent A I need an extra pair of hands in here! Now!" The British man apologized and quickstepped over to the suite before disappearing into it. Zatana was working on healing Aqualad. She didn't look up but she did speak, seemingly to Wally.
"Do you think she's going to be ok?" Wally pulled down his cowl and sighed.
"I don't know." The team sat in silence for a long time. It must have been about three hours they sat there doing nothing. Aqualad was well on his way to healing but had yet to wake up. Then the screaming started. They all jumped and made to race forwards into the medical bay but Agent A stepped out closing the door behind him though that did little to muffle the screaming sobs that echoed from within. They couldn't see his eyes but there were tears slipping down from behind his mask.
"She is going to need time to recover. There was an unknown drug in her system that seems to boost physical attributes such as speed and strength. It will need time to work its way out of her system. She does seem a bit… Strained mentally. We believe it would be better if you would reconvene at Mount Justice. We will update you as soon as possible." The sobbing increased in volume and Wally shook his head.
"I'm sorry Agent A we aren't going anywhere. We can't leave her like that." He nodded and turned back to the med lab.
"You will have to wait out here for a bit longer. I will let you know when you can see her." Wally and the others nodded and they sat back down to wait. Wally felt tears stinging his eyes as he listened to his best friend break down in the next room. It was another four hours before the door to the medical suite opened again. But it wasn't Agent A or Batman that exited the suite it was Batgirl, rolling out in a wheelchair. It was temporary, luckily. Artemis shifted forwards. The cast on her leg preventing her from walking on her broken leg.
"How's she doing?" Batgirl sighed.
"A little better I guess. It's gonna take time though. But she's awake and seems to be back to herself. She's in the showers, trying to drown herself. She remembers everything." They all winced at that. If she remembered everything then she remembered killing those four people. Batman stepped out of the medical wing and walked over to the computer. He pulled up the files on the four men who had been killed and printed them out. Kaldur, who had woken up nearly two hours ago hesitated but stepped over to Batman. They talked for a good hour. M'ggan and Artemis were having an unspoken conversation. M'ggan nodded and helped Artemis to her feet and they snuck into the medical suite followed closely by Zatana and Rocket who stopped Wally before he could follow.
"Girl talk time Kid. Give us a few." Wally nodded and let the door be shut in his face.
