{Author notes}
Hey guys! I got great news! I joined up a new free writing site called 'Inkitt'. It's pretty cool since it does more than just let me write Fanfiction.
It might actually help me in starting a career in writing! (Fingers are crossed.)
Anyway, I'm moving copies of my major works over there. Though, it's going to be re-edited a lot, because I corrected some paragraph structure, grammar, and it has to actually look like a real novel, so there are going to be less notes unless I make them into something like separate chapters all together, to make the books more organized than here.
I hope you guys can support me there too! I'm still PhantomGalaxy13 over there, so whoo for original names!
I would appreciate it if you guys would still show some support over there as well as over here. you don't need to review or anything, just take a peak and see if you like their style of presenting stories rather than Fanfiction.
"I wanna see! I wanna see!" The young toddler, Jared, jumped up and down excitedly as he walked down the hospital hallways while holding a balloon in one of his arms that said 'Congratulations!'.
"Hold on their kiddo," Aunty Yang stooped low and ruffled the hair of the small and young boy. "I know you're excited to see your new brother, but give your mom a break. So don't be jumping around too much."
Someone held the little boy's shoulders after his Auntie was done.
"You need to be quiet Jared. We're in a hospital, be respectful." The younger boy looked up and saw his only slightly older sister, Autumn stated in a mature manner despite not even being ten yet.
"Okie."
"Huh, I don't remember you being so mature, Autumn," Auntie Yang stated as she rubbed her chin. "You kind of remind me of Weiss."
The younger sister turned her gaze towards her aunt. "You, Daddy, and Mommy left me all alone in Cheese Utopia on my fifth birthday."
Yang winced at that event. There was an emergency at a Hunter's Guild they were assisting where an A class Grimm had attacked their base somehow.
The sad part was that everyone there were Hunters, so that pretty much meant they all answered the call quickly and left poor Autumn all alone in the party.
"Oh. Uhh, sorry about that kiddo. None of us meant to leave, but we have business to attend to! You know—"
"I know that Auntie. It's just that you all forgot about me after you solved that event didn't you?"
Yang internally blanched again. She and almost everyone else had actually forgotten about leaving Autumn all alone back there, until Weiss realized it on their way back to their homes.
"How could you do such a thing?" Jared asked out in his small voice before putting out his hand with the balloon tied to it. The helium container floated just below and in front Yang's eyes. "Look at this balloon: it's disappointed in you."
Being shamed by a piece of plastic containing gas that makes it float, well that was a new low for Yang.
Autumn then looked to her younger brother.
"Jay, they did the same thing to you in your third birthday. The only difference was that you ate yourself into a sugar and cheese induced coma two minutes after mom and dad left."
"He what?" Yang questioned.
"Ooooohhhhh…" The small boy cooed. "So that's why I don't remember anything."
"Ever since those events, I decided to make sure our family takes things more seriously and doesn't accidentally traumatize our new baby brother." Autumn declared.
"…" Yang silently questioned everyone's parental abilities if they had accidentally caused one of their kids to mature this quickly. And potentially make the second child slightly insane…
"… So!" She nervously clapped her hands. "Who wants to see their new baby brother!?"
Jared raised his free hand up in the air… and waved it like he just didn't care. "Ooh ooh! Me!"
Autumn also agreed before Yang decided to ask the doctors where her sister and brother in law were.
She also mentally noted to buy them some child psychology books. Hopefully this time, we could probably do a little better in raising them a little more normally than the first two.
Hey, third's time the charm after all.
Jared sat on the desk and stared blankly into his broken weapon.
It only had been one day since the event of where three A-class Grimm had attacked them after Cardin lost control over Jared's armaments, and he couldn't help but look at his destroyed tool. It was not only one of the most unique devices out there, it also had deep emotional attachment with him since the item was given to him by his real father.
Weapon maintenance was something done in his family, more so when his Mom was Ruby, so he could have known how to fix it.
It's just that he really couldn't understand the weapon or open it up the three years he's had it. The buckle itself has no lines, screws, or anything that could open it up, not without destroying it. Jared could do nothing about that buckle part of his arsenal except clean it up every two weeks. Trying to scan it with X ray didn't seem to work because there looked to be a layer of lead underneath its first layer of protected coating.
So to his surprise, when it did finally get busted, the insides looked to be far more complicated than he imagined. The technology inside looked almost alien. For example, most mother boards Jared had seen were rough on the surface, had many microchips, and all looked very complex. What was really strange was that instead of a mother board or something from a computer, there was this now cracked blue circular blue mother board that had a smooth surface with nothing but golden patterned lines forming a square with a diamond inside it. The crack just so happened to be split right down the middle, and the insides of the motherboard just seemed uncommon.
But there was something more to this. On the back of the board, as if something was written there, it had the message: R4GN4R0K.
What the heck did that mean?
… Wait a second…
It was then Jaune came in and apprehensively looked over Jared's shoulder to look at the object. "Again, sorry Resh."
The red eyed boy looked behind him while still holding his long time weapon, but subtly putting back the hidden message back into the casing. "Really it's fine sir."
"So with that broken, how are you going to fighting without it?" Jaune asked before sitting on his bed.
"… Well for one, I can still use my coatings, but now I don't really have any fire power under my belt." Jared turned back to face his dad while leaving his weapon on a broken desk.
"Why don't you go get a temporary weapon? Like in the mean time until your Armaments gets fixed." If it gets fixed… went unsaid.
Jared looked back at the object on the desk before scooping it and putting it back his pocket. "I do have some weapon ideas, but unless the school is willing to give me parts, I'm going to have to pay a lot."
Jaune felt a little bad at that. "Look Resh, I really, really feel bad about breaking your weapon. I want to make it up. Why don't I help you pay for your things?"
Jared squinted his eyes. "Sir? How much money do you actually have?"
"I don't care!" Jaune proudly declared even though in the back of his mind he thought it was kind of pathetic.
Jared placed his hand on his chin. "Well I would like help in something…"
"Then I will help you!" Jaune stated proudly.
The sound of a pen clicked. "OK sign here." Jared handed him a clipboard with some document on it.
"… T-That… was fast. Uhh, what is this?" Jaune said with less assertiveness he had only mere seconds ago as he took the board and saw a lot of technical and legal words he did not understand.
"Job applications. I found a place willing to hire students, thought I could apply there to help my funds. This way, both of us could work, and we'd get the money I need for the parts of my temporary, temporary weapon."
"Oh that makes sense." Jaune said before looking back at the paper he didn't understand. "So what job is it?"
"In the restaurant business. A new café opened up, and amazingly they need help." Jared then placed his hand on his chin thoughtfully. "The requirements they were looking for were kind of unusual though."
"Unusual?"
"Yeah, it specified physically capable males between 16-25. Dunno what that was all about."
Jaune raised his eye brow. "That sounds shady."
"Oh I met the owner and employer. He's pretty cool. He wanted those specifics to attract younger customers." Jared explained.
"Really? You already met him? But your weapon broke just yesterday."
"Well, I give him a call and looked through online. But I did remember seeing that help wanted sign when we last week went to town. You still wanna come?"
"… Well yeah. It doesn't sound too bad." He started filling out the parts he could understand on the clipboard with the pen. "So when do we meet Mr.?"
"Oh it's an exotic name. His name is Mr. Xochipilli Nahuatl."
Jaune blinked several times. "Whoa. I've never heard of a name like that."
"It's from a very ancient culture from the western equator city states. He told me that his first name can be split into two meaning 'flower' or 'prince or child'. It sounded pretty cool honestly."
"Flower prince?" Jaune repeated.
The red eyed boy shrugged his shoulders. "Hey who am I to judge ancient naming practices of different cultures born long before my birth?"
Jaune paused for a second after hearing that. Who was he to judge ancient practices that large cultures of people still do?
"I guess you have a point."
"Any who, I was going to meet with him after school. Be sure to fill out the form and please be sure to spell things correctly." Jared spoke almost mockingly with his eye brow raised cocky like.
"I can spell things right! I'm not a kid!"
"Spell 'Xochipilli'."
"… That doesn't count!"
Thalassa Anuket smiled as she and her team came together under one of the cherry blossom trees in Beacon's courtyard.
"What's with that smile?" Rhea Geb, the smallest but serious member of the group asked expectantly.
"I have received amazing news!" Thalassa said before turning to Hemera Isis. "Do you want to hear it dear sister?"
"Yes. Please elaborate."
"I just received word from our 'sources' that Resh Kolc's weapon has been destroyed." Thalassa happily said, making sure to make her last words roll out of her tongue.
Ephesto woke up from snoring. "Wait what?"
Hemera looked contemplative. "Then it's time."
Rhea looked at her in surprise. "We're moving that quickly?"
"There won't be another opportunity than this." She suppressed her memories of meeting personally with Jaune and the vending machine and choosing not to act at that time. "Thal, make preparations. We're gunning for the Descendant as soon as possible."
Team RWBY walked down the busy streets of Vale, and were making their way down the docks.
"Ahh, isn't it exciting? The Vytal Festival is absolutely wonderful!" Weiss, in a rather light and cheerful mood, said as she looked around the city preparing for the upcoming celebration.
"Wow, I've never seen you smile this much before. It's kind of creeping me out." Ruby commented, taking small steps away from Weiss.
"How can you not enjoy this? The festival is dedicated to the cultures of the world with dancing, parades, the tournament! The Amount of careful planning and complex thoughts put into this event is to be admired!"
"Wait, are you talking about the planning part of the festival? Wow, you can make anything fun sounding boring, can't ya Weiss?" Yang commented.
"Quiet you." Weiss quickly snapped.
"So tell me why we're heading towards the docks?" Ruby asked her partner.
"Two birds with one stone. First, it's to welcome the other representatives of Vacuo that I heard are coming through here. As representatives of Beacon, it's our duty to welcome them into this kingdom."
Blake spoke out. "She wants to spy on them to have an upper hand on the tournament."
"You can't prove that." Weiss snapped again.
"Then what's the second thing?" Yang asked Blake instead of Weiss, ignoring a third snappy comment from the prim girl.
Blake smirked. "She wants to go to a nearby Dust store to help out make Resh's temporary weapon."
Ruby and Yang turned back to Weiss.
"What!?" The girl shrieked. "Can I not do something nice for our friends?!"
Ruby placed her hands on her hips. "I can't believe…" Then she smiled with excitement in her eyes before hugging her partner. "That you planned to make a weapon without me! We could thought about the alloy needed, the ammo, the dust, the base formation for whatever he would want. What weapon would Resh want anyway? Ooh, ooh, maybe we could give him rocket boots! I know just the mini thrusters that would work great for that! Or maybe since he's so hardcore, we can cut off his arm and give him a robotic cannon!"
"I said help not dissect his limbs!" Weiss pushed Ruby off her.
Yang was glad Ruby was bonding more and more with other people. It looked like she was finally getting out of her shell. But then she noticed a crowd of people in the distance.
"Hey, what's that over there?"
The rest of Team RWBY stared towards the direction where a shop had yellow, crime scene tape all over it. The team decided to walk over.
As they came closer to the edge of the crowd, Blake noticed the familiar back of someone's head. "Is that Dr. Helsing?"
"You mean the Doc in charge of Resh's therapy sessions?" Yang asked, she never exactly met the guy but Jared had told them briefly about him. "How do you know?"
"I've seen him a few times when Resh leaves his office." Blake explained before looking over to the scraggy doctor with a messy afro. "Dr. Helsing!"
He turned around, focusing his attention on the team coming up to him. "Oh.." He focused his sights on Blake. "You're… Blake… Belladona right?" She nodded before he pointed to Ruby lazily. "All red… you must be Ruby Rose."
"I'm not all red. Red is just a cool color!"
"Ahh," Dr. Helsing nodded before looking to Weiss. "Then you must be Ms. Weiss Schnee," He finally looked to Yang, "And 'Other Blonde Friend'."
"Wait what?" Yang asked in question.
Weiss smirked and called out a triumphant, "Ha!"
The easy going doctor raised his hand and waved it dismissively. "That was a joke, Ms. Yang Xiao Long. It's hard not to know the new girl that's been causing the medical team of Beacon to work over time."
Ruby then pointed over to the broken store. "Doctor, what's going on over there?"
"Another robbery of a dust store where they stole all of the Dust, but nothing else." The doctor rubbed his five o clock after shave. "That'll really put an increase in Dust prices…" He groaned as he thought about working even more to get things he wants.
"Who did this?" Ruby wondered. Though it did make her think back to that night she got recruited by Ozpin.
"Dunno, the police said it could have been the White Fang." The school doctor rubbed the back of his head.
"Hmph the White Fang, what an awful bunch of degenerates."
"What's your problem?" Blake question coldly.
Weiss turned to the black themed member of the team. "My problem? I simply don't care for the criminally insane."
"The White Fang are hardly a bunch of psychopaths." Blake folded her arms strictly.
"Take it from someone who's clinically taken care of some of them." Dr. Helsing interjected.
Blake nodded in agreement. "They're just misguided."
"Misguided?! They want to wipe humanity off the planet!"
"That's only the extremist part of their faction." Helsing calmly explained. "You forget, the White Fang were originally, and still technically are for Faunus civil rights."
Blake was glad that an employer from Beacon was speaking sense.
"But then again they've been kind of falling off that. Recently it seems like they've just abandoned the idea with living peacefully."
"That's not the point!" Blake spoke out. "Why would the White Fang even rob a dust shop in the middle of Vale?"
"Yeah," Ruby said out in contemplative agreement. "Besides the police never caught that Torchwick guy a few months ago, maybe it was him."
Dr Helsing validated that point."Ms. Rose could actually be right. I've kept up with the news a bit and the robberies have been very clean and professional in stealing. They don't trip alarms and they make getaways before the cops can respond. The White Fang, at worst, is a terrorist group, leaving behind survivors might not be on their brochure, especially if they're human. But this seems to be the work of a professional criminal."
"Yeah!"
"Then again…" The whimsical Doctor mused."I've heard of Torchwick before. The guy's a narcissist. He usually steals things for himself like gold, diamonds, money, expensive designer wear all for himself. It's strange how he got from financing himself, to now robbing normal dust stores beneath him. If I didn't know any better, I would say someone's hiring him to do all this. And the White Fang would have the ability to employ him."
"I knew it!" Weiss declared.
Dr. Helsing looked at all four girls. "Oops, wait, what I'm telling you kids this nothing but speculation. My word isn't final or anything. Nor do I want you guys quote me saying one thing or the other. Basically this is a lot more complex than simple hatred."
Just then they all heard some loud shouts coming over from the docks. Something about catching a Faunus.
Team RWBY all went to the dock area to see a Monkey Faunus with blonde hair escape the authorities, not before winking at a certain black themed girl, as he made his escape.
"Weiss, isn't that the competition?" Yang asked.
"After him!" Weiss cried out before she and her team ran after the authorities and leaving the good doctor behind.
The Beacon employee looked back at the dust store. "… I really need that double lime colored Dust soon before I meet with Resh Kolc... pfft that what kind of name is that?" He shrugged his shoulders of before making his way in the opposite direction.
He didn't know that Team RWBY's previous argument would only get worse when out of his sight.
The next morning, the first thing Ruby did was wake up and saw the empty bed across her room. Well, she didn't necessarily wake up. She had trouble sleeping after Blake left.
Things dramatically became worse when they split with Dr. Helsing yesterday. They lost sight of the blonde monkey guy and then they ran into this weird girl who she thought was nice.
Then Weiss said some… things… and Blake… did as well…
They had an argument and Blake left.
She was really bummed about it, until she heard two voices out the door. Her sister and Weiss were still sleeping, and she wondered if there was anyone else up this morning—oh right. Jaune and Resh were awake at this time.
She jumped lightly on the floor before peaking out her door. There she saw Jaune and Resh… wearing ties?
"Jaune, Resh" She asked as she opened up the door.
"Oh Ruby, morning. What's up?" Jaune stopped struggling with his tie in favor of talking with a freind.
Jared looked to his dad. "Really, Sir? I just told you how to do that."
"It's not my fault! The knots confuse me!" Jaune screamed in a hushed tone.
"I thought you two were going jogging."
"Yeah, we're putting a hold on that. We got a job." Jared explained.
"A job?" Curious, Ruby closed the team door behind her to listen.
"Remember how my weapon got destroyed?" Ruby, and Jaune, flinched at that reminder for different reasons. Jaune did from guilt of being the reason he destroyed it in the first place; Ruby paled because they actually wanted to help out Jared get a new temporary weapon since he had no idea how to currently fix his old one. "Well Jaune wanted to help me out, so we're pooling some money for some parts I wanted to buy."
"You know, I could call my Uncle Qrow, he's a weapon teacher at Signal and I'm sure he has some spare junk lying around." Ruby offered.
Jared smiled at that. "That would be great I would really appreciate that. But can we talk more about that later? Jaune and I are going to catch the first Dust plane back to Vale, otherwise we'll be late for our second day."
"Second?"
Jaune started talking when Jared gave up and helped him with his tie. "UUhh yeah. Yesterday we were just there for our interview, but since there were so many tourists for the Festival, we ended up getting the job quickly."
"Jaune didn't do so well." Jared commented.
"I was distracted OK!?"
"Don't worry Sir, I'll cover you again." Jared fixed with the tie. "But we really need to go, so see ya Ruby."
"He's right. See ya Ruby."
Ruby waved good bye to them. She yawned as talking to those guys made her feel tired, maybe it was time to sleep the rest of the morning.
Yet, when she found herself waking up and looking over to the empty bed again and sighed.
Ruby's morning was… quiet, unbearably so. Weiss didn't even look at her or Yang when she left for breakfast by herself.
So when she came to the school cafeteria, she was really feeling down. Even Yang seemed lethargic right next to her.
Because of this, it was no surprise when Pyrrha almost looked worried for them when she sat across the two. "Are you two alright?"
Ruby just groaned before filling her in.
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that. I hope Blake is OK." Pyrrha offered. "Is there any way we can help? We could help you look for her."
"Really? But we don't wanna disturb you guys. Plus it's kind of our problem…"
Pyrrha thought about it for a second. She would have left it at that, but then she tried something else.
"Jaune would have wanted to help you. He's too nice like that. While I'm not as familiar with you as Jaune and Resh seemingly are, I think it would be a good idea to lend a hand to our friends. I insist you let me help you."
"Well searching the city with just the two of us would be kind of… hard." Ruby started. "But what about Ren and Nora?"
"Oh, they left a message saying that they were going to do something together—but not together-together—and it was about pancakes." Pyrrha explained briefly, re wording Nora's many strange sayings.
Nora was making her way down class, walking fast, faces past, and homeb—
"Danananananana!" Nora sang for some reason before stopping for a second and looking at one of the sparring rooms that was currently occupied. For some reason she just felt like something was inside the room in question.
Oh, and also, she thought she heard Weiss' voice from behind the door.
Nora pressed her face into the wall.
"I sense a friend behind this door!" She whispered to no one in particular.
Nora snuck into the door, seeing Weiss being a little less graceful than she usually was in destroying training bots.
She looked to be gasping a bit, seemingly training a lot harder than usual. Though it was unsure if Nora noticed this, or thought she was really getting into smashing up bots.
"Ooh! Ooh Weiss! You missed one!" Nora cheered as she pointed to a training drone charging behind Weiss.
Weiss snapped her head towards Nora's voice, before seeing the bot in question. She moved swiftly, easily parrying a swipe before lunging into a thrust into its core, disabling it.
"Whoo! Go Weiss!" Nora jumped in joy cheerily, but the girl in white almost hissed.
"I had it all under control!" Weiss spoke up as she cancelled the training session and walked up to Nora.
Amazingly, Nora either didn't notice the air around her, or was oblivious to it all together. "Yeah and it was so cool! You could have done more explosions though!"
Weiss raised her hand with her finger up and opened her mouth.
"…"
But nothing came out, or rather she didn't seem to have the strength to muster a lecture.
"Leave me alone Nora. I have to practice."
She suppressed a sigh while starting to wonder if she should increase the intensity levels.
Nora swatted the air casually. "Pssh, silly billy, you don't practice till you tire yourself out. Everypony knows that."
"I truly hope you mean 'everybody'," Weiss started before foolishly turning her back at the bouncy girl from Team JNPR. "So please, leEEAAAVE!?"
The Schnee heiress shrieked as she found herself suddenly spirited away when Nora grabbed her hand.
Suddenly, Weiss found herself sitting in Team JNPR's room mini dining table. Before she could gather how Nora was able to pull something like this off better than Ruby's semblance, a plate filled with a stack of pancakes was placed in front of her by Nora who just as quickly sat down next to her and started loudly eating her own, but much bigger, stack of pancakes.
"What?" Weiss managed to speak out.
"Oh, Weiss, hello." Ren said simply as he looked up from reading a book on something that seemed to tie in history, 'The History of Blue.'
"Comf bon! Doof wab be akes tof be coof!"
Ren flipped a page.
"Nora, swallow your meals first before talking. Basic manners."
The orange headed girl swallowed. "Okie Dokie! So hurry and eat before Ren's pancakes get cold!"
"Why would I," Weiss paused before her face flushed red.
She did not account on her own stomach crying out in either joy of the food in front of her, or denial of her up and coming attempt to refuse the meal set in front of her. She was in the mood to get her mind clear, not health care.
Wordlessly, she ate along with Nora who was had somehow finished her pancake stacks faster.
Weiss finished her meal and she had to mentally admit that it was a nice flavored pancake.
"Thank you for the meal."
"Ooh! Oh!" Nora excitedly started. "You should totally come with us to go leprechaun hunting! It's about time we finally steal their gold! MWAHAHAHA!"
"Wait, Nor—"
Was all Weiss could say before she was whisked away by Nora once more. Ren simply closed his book, placed it properly away and walked after the two girls.
Weiss was out of breath and stared at Ren. "How do you deal with her?!" She motioned to Nora searching the woods, trying to tempt said leprechaun with bribes of a cereal.
"I got your precious Cereal, Midget! Come on out and cough up the loot!"
Ren seemingly ignored, Nora and looked back at the disheveled girl beside him. "Honestly? I depend on it."
Weiss raised her brow at the stoic boy as he looked towards Nora.
"As you've seen, I'm… not the most talkative person in our group."
Weiss didn't know where he was going about this, but she simply nodded to prod the stoic boy to continue on.
"Well it's a little complicated, but basically, my family was quite strict. And as a kid, I was very, very quiet. I'd probably go an entire week with only saying one word. As you would imagine, a silent kid isn't exactly someone you would want to make friends with."
"…"
Ren continued on. "That's when Nora came in. She didn't really seem to care much at all about my silence when she first met me and spent time with me all day. Then she started doing the same thing over and over to the point I felt a little lonely without her talking beside me."
He inhaled. "Now that I look back, I think that was her way of cheering me up. She may not look it, but Nora can sense when someone's feeling down."
Weiss paused at that as she shared a look with Ren. Was this Nora's strange way of helping her when she wasn't feeling that well?
To be honest, because she had been so focused on Nora these past few Hours on what she was doing, she actually forgot about Blake and her troubles for today.
Now that she thought about it and cooled down just a little, maybe there was more to Blake being a part of the White Fang. She had stayed with them for the first few months and honestly looked like she truly meant no ill will towards her. Maybe there was simply more to her outburst… still, she would never forgive the White Fang for what they did to her family.
But Blake, if that really was her real name, at least deserved to be heard out fully. Perhaps Ruby had the right idea after all in trying to find her.
Nora's voice called out. "Oooh! Weiss! I think I finally found one of the little burgers! But I need your small dainty hands!"
"My hands are not small and dainty!" Weiss snapped back before sighing and seeing Ren simply shrug his shoulders.
For now, she would have to talk to Blake again before anything else.
Pyrrha, Yang, and Ruby were staring blankly ahead, just making their way, making a way, through the crowd…
Unlike the other two, Pyrrha was wearing a disguise in that she was simply wearing a cap and sunglasses while wearing different cloths than usual. She explained to the two earlier that she was only doing this as to not get recognized by some fans who might be coming over from Mistrial.
Still, even with Pyrrha's help, they couldn't really find Blake anywhere; simply saying that looking for one person in a giant City was even more strenuous than looking for a needle in the haystack.
"Man I'm tired…" Yang whined as it was already close to Sundown and they still hadn't found a trace of Blake yet.
"No kidding, I'm also a bit hungry…" Ruby agreed as she rubbed her poor belly. "Hey! Aren't Jaune and Resh working in a café? Maybe we could go to them!"
"Whoa whoa, Vomit and Skater Boy are working?" Yang asked her sister, trying to validate if what she heard was right.
The Brawler had a silent and quick nod from her sister before Pyrrha added in with the young leader's confirmation. "Oh right, they did say they would be busy this weekend…"
"So, where is it?" Yang asked her sister before the little red hood deflated in front of her.
The red themed girl shrugged her shoulders. "Uhh… I didn't really ask. They were in a hurry this morning."
"The name of the café is The Owl's Perch. It should actually be around here somewhere." The champion explained before glancing around the street.
"Huh, is that it?" Yang pointed over to the full looking café where there seemed to be a lot of teenage girls crowding around the place.
"That…" Pyrrha raised her brow at the sight. "…Should be the place?"
"You don't sound sure." Ruby noted.
"I just wasn't expecting this place… to have so many costumers." Pyrrha finished as she looked on ahead.
Ruby shrugged her shoulders. "So should we go and see the guys?"
"I'm kind of curious to see what those two jokers are getting themselves into." Yang finished as she walked ahead of the other two towards the Café.
The Café itself looked quite fancy, it looked like a more formal and uptown coffee shop with more artistic looking furniture stationed outside. The chairs looked to be made with marble if not part marble and windows that showed a large amount of people relaxing and enjoying their time inside. The title was just as Pyrrha described it. 'The Owl's Perch' yet it also had this very interesting design of an owl facing its head towards the back of its body, showing that it was fully turning its neck 180 degrees like most owls that was inside the large cursive O, as if perched on a tree branch. The rest of the font showed that the other letters were all in cursive and had a forest in the middle of the night theme with it.
They made their way past the giggling crowds, spotting some customers in relaxing silence and slightly away from the smiling and not very hushed whispers from the majority of other customers.
When they entered through the door, they were greeted by one of the workers.
"Welcome back, masters," The male maid bowed before looking back up. "May I show you to your…. Ruby? Yang? Pyrrha?"
All three ladies pointed to the familiar blond in front of them wearing butler suit.
"Jaune!?"
[Meanwhile…]
Finally, taking a short break in his shift from all of his work, Jared secluded himself from the rest of the group in to being alone in the locker room for workers. There he took out a USB and plugged it into his scroll.
The boy from the future went past the first sealed file and activated the second sealed file.
Now came the question, were these randomly written letters and numbers a password, to this specific file? It was strange to think that those old trinkets, prepared almost decades ago, would somehow come together under his hands as if this was all planned from the start. What kind of plan involves things from the past being uncovered by a boy from the future? Why would it play with forces through the random points in time?
But he couldn't just stand there staring at the screen, there needed to be action.
He inhaled. "Well," He activated the keypad. "Here goes nothing."
Jared typed in the password: R4GN4R0K on the key pad and it was initializing the data.
The file became unsealed.
The first thing Jared noticed was an email with a video attached to it. Curious, he pressed play.
The video that appeared was that of a pale man with bright gray eyes and silver short, cropped hair. For one second, Jared thought the man was blind, but then his eyesight focused on something beside the camera. The environment the man was filming seemed to look like a normal office desk mixed with some lab looking products in the back ground such as tube and mechanical devices.
The man in the video looked to be in his late forties, but he seemed to have a lot of light in his eyes.
"Hello, I am professor Zordon Jeklyll. This is my video diary for project Pantheon. Project Pantheon is a Kingdom sanctioned operation to create a countermeasure to combat Grimm that have been given the SSS+ Class, or what we have coined as Cleansers. From my colleague, Ri—" The video coughed and fixed his color nervously. "I-I mean Ms. Shelly. Erhm! … Yes… Ms. Shelly has explained that like all Animals, Grimm have the potential to evolve over a large period of time. Cleansers are believed to be not only one of the oldest forms of Grimm currently recorded, but also have evolved several times further down the passing of time. We have seen cases of where Grimm will grow to become stronger and smarter over their lifespan, but Cleansers are far more extreme cases. What I am about to reveal to this video is classified information. It pertains to three Mistrial border cities being completely annihilated by one of these Cleansers, over fifty hunters were sent to subdue these Grimm, but only two survived. The Grimm that attacked in question could not even be killed, only warded back at the expense of many resources. The Kingdoms have signed a group of experts, such as myself and Ms. Shelly, to not only study what little information we have on this almost immortal monsters, but find a way to even the playing field. The two survivor names have been, and respectfully, hidden. But from whatever they could tell us, the Grimm that had defeated a small army of Hunters, was unlike anything they had seen before. For one, they claimed that it could speak to them. It was not necessarily talking to them, but rather to each other as if killing professional hunters were a game to them."
He seemed to look at the camera before yawning, taking off his glasses, and then rubbing his eyes sleepily.
"… I am still a bit tired from travel, so I shall end the first video here. This ends the first intro into what Project Pantheon was about. The appearance of these Ancient Grimm have put us into work. Let's hope that there's something than can give us a fighting chance against those bastards."
The first video ended, then showed a playlist of several other videos.
However, what caught Jared's attention next was something that was not a video, but rather what looked to be a map with coordinates highlighted.
The coordinates in question looked to be around high in the Covenant Mountians. But there was nothing there, not even Grimm for some reason. While it would stand to reason if a place not infested by Grimm would be an excellent place to live or at least set up base, there was the problem that there were no useable resources up there. The mountain itself held no special mineral besides the usual team of geologists would go and pick up rocks for their studies, but other than that, the mountain itself was truly desolate.
"Jaune!?" He heard three rather muffled screams coming from the front of the shop he and his father were working.
The boy from the future sighed before he put away his scroll.
"Not even two days… huh dad?"
He cleaned himself briefly before walking back out to see what his father got into this time.
{Author Notes}
OK honesty time. As well most of us know, many have no idea how some characters really act since there is not enough information on them as such.
As you can see with CRDL in this story, I had to give them my own spin on their personalities while trying some semblance of Cannon like personas, even though I dislike these type of characters that just are there to cause trouble. (Feels slightly Lazy to me, and I have done something like this before.)
Basically, the thing about writing Out Of Character here in RWBY is that it's kind of something like walking a tight rope.
I personally feel as if people like it when Characters are basically true to their Series version, but the thing about RWBY is that there's a lacking amount of information about most of them, heck Ruby—the main Character of the Series—has less Character development than Jaune. So everything starts to have a problem on how to write characters if we don't see them. Kind of like a black box, you know it's there, but you can see. (Basically, don't quote me on these things because I am whimsical.)
I feel this is really a problem but a good one. It kinda leaves people like us guessing and adding our own ideas and theories into the boiling pot, pretty much what all great shows do if they get others hooked. Yet I feel when trying to be careful and stick true to the source material it kind of feels anxious when trying your own spin on things, since really it's make it or break it. People will either like it or not.
At least that's how I see it.
It just that around my style of writing, I have to deal with working with a lot less than I hoped for, so I feel Anxious when I post something online about this story.
But I've been going around a bit around this section, and I've found out that some of the writers I like have trouble writing the cast OOC because of the lack of info.
As such, the point of all this rant is to try and get people to know that this story, is going to be an experiment of sorts. A person's take on the incomplete characters that will fill up later in the future than this chapter.
Characters Like Ren and Nora, and the others, to me, they're all unfinished canvases just asking to be finished by a different artist. Time to see how this experiment will work out.
I guess this isn't just for you guys but for me as well. My thoughts move faster than my mind and my mouth, but when I write them out, they make way more sense.
After all, "Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. –Scott Adams."
One more little foot note for me to add: it was hard thinking about comedy for this part of the story, so I want and wrote an extra that will hopefully make you laugh. If not, meh it's a short so….
Also, it's probably the strangest mini crossover yet.
See you all soon.
{Extra: Pikmin! They are so cute you can just…}
"Aww these things are so cute!" Ruby cooed as the lifted the tiny strawberry above the miniature army of red Pikmin jumping up and down cutely on her desk to grab the strawberry just slightly out of reach.
"OK, here you guys go." Ruby smiled as she dropped the fruit into the ground and saw the twenty or so little guys carry the strawberry towards their all-in-one Onion.
It amused Ruby to see the tiny strawberry be absorbed into the machine and see all the little red plant creatures whoop and do back flips.
Weiss Schnee's standards were always high. As much as she tolerated the setting of her room, she would not tolerate the cluttered mess the two sisters made over the course of the room.
However, ever since Ruby had introduced her to Pikmin, she rather looked forward to the mess the two sisters made, not that she'd ever say that to them outright.
"Alright, I need one hundred of the purple Pikmin to lift up Yangs weights back into their corner. Fifty of the Flying Pikmin will go and clean up the upper bunks, and throw any litter or cookie crumbs you see into the trash bags. The one hundred white Pikmin will split into two and go under the nooks, beds, and crannies to clean more of Ruby's cookie crumbs she eats all over the place. As well as throw away some tissues around Blake's bed. I swear, that girl needs to take better care of herself, but she better not get anyone else sick with the cold…. Blue Pikmin will continue scrubbing the sink, do not worry, I made sure the sink holes were all plugged, but do not fall from the heights."
She was very appreciative of all the hundreds of little tiny and adorable workers listening to her very commands. As with all planning, she loved how all the Pikmin listened to her without question and worked with diligence and harmonic sync with their fellow plant creatures. There was just something about seeing the fruits of planning all come together to her that just made her feel so soothing.
It also helped that the little creatures were really cute and listening to what she said with value instead of the annoyed look her teammates gave her, which was a huge plus.
Yang enjoyed playing with the Rock Pikmin. It was pretty cool that they couldn't be crushed and liked being thrown. And one of the reasons why Ruby and Weiss let her only call out these Pikmin in particular was because they were least likely to be crushed at any antic Yang would put them through—which she felt hurt that she wasn't trusted with the other variety of Pikmin, but she still liked the Rock Pikmin none the less. Their bodies were amazingly sturdy despite being so tiny. She could probably fit twenty or so of the little guys in her palm.
Plus, paper foot ball during class had never been more fun. It was waaaaaayyyyyy more interesting to see the little guys throw themselves at a miniature paper ball and body tackle the thing all the way to the opposing goal.
"GOOOAAAALLL!" Yang shouted as one side of the team tackled the crumpled piece of paper enough to push it to one opposing goal.
Unfortunately she was in class when she did that. Then her Pikmin immediately stopped moving, and made themselves look like actual rocks or pebbles on her desk.
"You're right Ms. Xiao Long!" Professor Port excitedly agreed with her. "It was the goal where the beast was hiding! Well done, you get an A for today's class for astute observation!"
She smiled, but then had to place a finger to her mouth when she thought the little guys were cheering.
Pyrrha talked her heart out to the group of yellow Pikmin staring and listening to her intently.
"Thank you for listening. I hope I didn't drawl on too much?"
The little yellow Pikmin sung a little tune as if to see they were all alright. At the same time, a very large group of Yellow Pikmin came in carrying bullets, ammo and other pieces of equipment.
"Oh thank you for getting some of the tools ready for Weapon maintenance. It's also quite handy your kind is resistant to large volts of electricity, right? I'm glad to see you can all handled carrying those types of objects just fine."
Pyrrha leaned on the table and smiled happily as she then watched the little guys jump around the place.
Blake didn't know what to make of the small creatures. She thought they were honestly a little creepy. Especially those White Pikmin with those beady red eyes of theirs.
Though she supposed that she could relate to them somewhat, being able to see things other couldn't normally see.
These were also seemingly the only Pikmin that were awake in the night mostly thanks to their ability to see through the darkness.
Having one or two of the little creatures on her shoulders while she did her nightly readings was strangely welcoming, pretending to have some to relate to one of her favorite story plots happen. Blake found the little guys like little confidants, someone willing to listen and someone who can keep secrets.
Especially since they can't talk or understand reading the books she was reading.
Ren found the Pikmin surprisingly therapeutic. He had his fair share in gardening because of his family, so looking after all of potentially thousands of Pikmin was strangely soothing.
They all very much just needed even a little sunlight, and already they would last as long as their little bodies would allow them.
However, his favorite part about looking after the little guys was when he'd bring an entire tea cup of flower nectar he farmed from the School Garden. All the Leaf Pikmin would swarm out of the tiny Onion and go drink the golden fluid and have something akin to a mini pool party where they wouldn't drown in. Seeing all the leaf bloom into flowers had its own rewards, especially with how grateful the Pikmin actually looked.
No one ever dares talk about the time Nora tried to take over Beacon with the massive army of tini-tiny, multi colored, vegetable creatures.
Some say a certain plotter was taking notes of such an infamous attack.
Jared stared at the empty desk where everyone said the Pikmin Onion would be.
He stared hard at it, wondering where the thing could have gone.
Jaune came up walking beside him, drinking a glass of water and gasping after being quenched. "Man… that nasty aftertaste is still in my mouth."
Jared's eyes shot up wide and stared incredulously at Jaune.
The blonde boy looked at his raven haired friend. "What?"
Just then, Team RWBY and Pyrrha came in walking into the room, all of them arguing about whose turn it would be to get which Pikmin.
Jared looked over to the five girls suddenly staring in a shocked manner at the empty desk where the multi Onion was.
"W-Wh…" Ruby stammered, her voice cracking slightly and she sounded like she had just accidentally kicked a puppy. "Where's the Onion?"
"It was an Onion?" Jaune asked out loud and scratched his chin. "You know that kind of explains why it tasted more like a vegetable than a fruit…"
…
Jared slowly buried his face into his palms and silently cursed.
Jaune placed a fist near his mouth, it looked like something was coming out his mouth, and when he burped out, several dozen lights that suspiciously looked like souls of tiny creatures came out and made a ghastly wail of pain.
"Whoa!" Jaune stepped back in shock and looked to Jared. "Dude did you see that?" He looked to Jared before to the girls. "Did anyone just see—why are you girls holding your weapons? I thought we already finished Ms. Goodwitch's training for today?"
For some reason, half the girls looked to be in tears. "AAAARRRCCC!"
Jared wisely side stepped out of the way and sighed.
He kept to his thoughts while ignoring pleas of mercy his dad was crying out to him. He really wanted to see the little guys.
{Author Notes}
I have always been a fan of Pikmin though I get insanely stressed when something is killing the poor creatures. It's like a piece of me dies whenever they do.
For some of you who don't know the franchise, Pikmin is a Nintendo game based on growing these creatures called Pikmin and having them battle creatures, carry objects, and/or create even more of these guys. The very first Pikmin was one of my first Gamecube games (Back when Nintendo actually had Controllers that cared for your hands.) so I might have some personal Bias towards it.
Having a short 'what if' scenario with the cast was honestly kind of fun. I hope you guys enjoyed it.
Thanks for reading! See ya Soon.
