Chapter 26: Destiny's Ball Part 2
Kristoff's Prov
We got downstairs and could hear the band playing. People from town have already arrived then! I looked down at Destiny in my arms and lowered her tiny mask, then looked at Anna next to me and smiled, we both lowered our masks and I took her hand in mine.
We opened the door and received a cheer from everyone from the village. They all parted for us to walk down towards the platform next to the band, where we could already see Amber standing there with wearing a white dress with a purple waistband and on her face a purple mask.
"Hey you finally came down! I was down here on my own!" Amber said as we stood next to her.
"Speaking of that where is Elsa and Stain?" I asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine Uncle Kristoff."
"Knowing my sister she will be down in three, two, one.." the doors opened and out walked Elsa in a red sparkling dress with a silver mask on. No one had seemed to notice that she was walking out of the castle me and Amber both looked at Anna.
"Now that's freaky!" I said.
"What I didn't do anything!" She argued.
"You just guessed when mama was going to come out!" Amber reminded her.
"Oh that! It was just a feeling me and Elsa have built up since we where kids." She smiled.
Elsa didn't come over to us she stayed in the crowd. What is she up to? I gave Destiny to Anna and walked down to find Elsa, it took about 10 minutes but I finally found her.
"Hey you!" She said.
"Why you standing here and not with us?"
"It's yours, Anna's and Destiny's night not mine I'm letting you have the lime-light" I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Spill!"
"Its stupid don't worry!"
"Els I've lived with this family long enough and trust me from the things I've seen you all do, nothing is stupid anymore!" I chuckled.
"You maybe my sister's husband and my niece's father but that won't stop me from freezing you!" She joked. I hope! "Anyway! Stain and I have a bet that he won't be able to notice it's me with my mask down, so there you go, you know the truth."
"Oh Els of course he will be able to guess its you with just one look!"
She looked at me and sighed then seemed to look over my shoulder "Anna wants you." She pointed.
"She doesn't do well on her own and crowded, does she?" I stated.
"No she doesn't now go back over there, Amber has gone wondering off and your wife needs your help." She smiled faintly.
Stain's Prov
I'd come through the side gate and no one had noticed. Now to make things better easier I just needed to be able to pick out Elsa from the crowd! Should be easy! I walked past everyone, till I saw Anna standing with Destiny.
"Who do we have here then?" I asked her pretending to be a person from the town.
"This is Princess Destiny." She yawned.
I looked up at Anna, she looked so tired "Haven't had much sleep have you?" She shook her head. "Oh Anna, let me take her!"
She looked me up and down reluctantly "No, no it's fine!"
"Anna it's me!" I chuckled lifting my mask up.
"Oh god Stain! I must be tired if I couldn't recognise you!" She said shaking her head.
"Here let me take her, you go relax and enjoy yourself." She Handed Destiny over and went where Amber was talking to some adults and children from the town.
I looked around for Elsa but I still couldn't pick her out! I had like 10 people come up to me at once to meet Destiny, I really don't do well with new people but if it meant Anna could have at least 10 minutes then I had just have to deal with it.
Out the corner of my eye I saw something or someone standing in the shadows, I moved closer to get a better look.
"Stain!" I turned to see Kristoff walking towards me then looked back over into the shadows.
"What was you looking at?"
"I don't know but whatever it was its gone now." I shrugged.
"You probably scared it off with that ugly face of yours" he laughed; I just huffed and looked over my shoulder again. I couldn't see what I had seen anymore but I just had an uneasy feeling that whatever it was, was still there watching us all.
"Whatever mate" I finally let out "Have you seen Elsa anywhere?"
"Stain look around, there aren't many girls with white hair now are there?" He stated taking Destiny off me, I looked around one more time when my eyes landed on a woman with a red sparkly dress on, I couldn't see the back of her I just saw the front but before I knew it my legs had started moving towards her.
The song had just finished as I made it to which I guessed was Elsa. I gave out a cough to get her attention "Oh hello." Sounded like Elsa's pretend voice.
"May I have this dance?" I bowed holding out my hand. She placed her hand in mine. Fits like Elsa's hand does. A stray strand of hair fell in front of her ear. Snowy white. Defiantly Elsa! I smiled to myself.
"Shouldn't you be asking the queen to dance with you?" She asked.
"Oh I'm sure the queen wouldn't mind me dancing with a beautiful lady like you." I said smugly.
"She doesn't seem very forgiving!" She stated whiled we got ready to dance.
"Oh that's where you're wrong. If you've known Els as long as I have then you would know she has a very big soft spot for me!" I smirked.
"Oh does she!"
"Yes, yes she does."
"We will see about that then shall we?"
"Els give it up I know its you!"
"But how? I tried so hard to make it tough for you!" she pouted.
"I told you! You're the most gorgeous woman here, no body can compare to you!" She blushed.
I leaned in and kissed her on the cheek "So are we going to dance?" I asked.
"You know I don't dance." She said looking to the floor.
"OK love, we will go find Amber it's almost 8 o'clock so everything should be ready." I took her hand and we passed through the crowd to find Amber who was sitting on the steps by the doors. "Hey Amber."
"Hi Papa. Hi Mama." She said looking up.
"What are you doing sitting down here?" Els asked.
"I was bored so I thought I'd sit down for a bit." She answered.
I looked at Elsa who nodded to me. "Look Amber me and your mother left something in your room could you go get it please?"
"Alright but what does it look like?" She asked standing up.
"All you need to know is it's a shimmering light." Elsa said. With that Amber had gone running off to her room.
"Tristan had better know what he's doing!" I stated.
Amber's Prov
I walked up to my room trying to figure out what Mama was on about. A shimmering light? The moon light was peeking through my curtains when something on the balcony caught my eye, I walked out and found my bracelet that I had thrown somewhere in the garden? That's odd?
I thought nothing of it and turned and walked away when I heard a whistle from on the ground. I turned and looked down to see shimmering lights all around the roses I had made earlier but even bigger I leaned over the edge. What is all of this? It couldn't be for the party that was out in the front of the castle! "Is someone down there?" I called "Papa?" no answer. I stood there for a while looking down till I caught a glimpse of Olaf running to the trees across the garden.
I made a vine appear falling down to the ground, I climbed over the edge of my balcony
and grabbed the vine before I went down I took the bracelet and placed it on my wrist and with that I jumped slipping down the vine, the wind pulling my hair up but I felt so free! I finally reached the ground jumping off and thawing the vine away so no one could get in my room that way.
I walked by the tree where I had seen Olaf disappear when I heard a rustling behind me I turned to see Tristan emerge from the bushes "Hey." He said with the half smile that always made my knees go weak. No Amber! Your mad at him remember!
"I have a party I need to get to!" I said bluntly, turning to walk away.
He grabbed my hand as I turned and pulled me to face him "That didn't stop you from coming!"
"I only came because my father told me something and then I saw Olaf run into the trees! I wouldn't have come if I knew YOU would be here!" I said harshly.
"Oh really?" His eyes where twinkling in the moonlight "Then why have you got the bracelet I got you on?" He said glancing at my wrist.
"Because I wanted to do this!" I took it off and threw it on the ground. He loosened his grip on my wrist enough to get out of, I went storming down the garden to the gate to the front of the castle I looked over my shoulder to see if he was following then turned to push the gate.
"Look I know what I have done but you don't understand!" He was right next to me?
"How did you do that?" I was distracted "Never mind! I think you will find I have a perfectly good understanding on this whole thing! You don't want to be my friend, FINE! But you didn't need to play me like that! Tristan you don't understand how I felt when I heard you talking to Olaf in the library yesterday! It's not something I can just forget like that so just leave me alone!" I was fighting back the tears now.
"Look Amber will you just please hear me out?" I looked over the gate to everyone celebrating Destiny then I turned back to Tristan.
"You have five minutes!" I said walking away from the gate.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"Back where the candles are! If I'm going to hear you out I want to see your face! That way I can tell if you're telling the truth."
When we got there I stood away from him but so I could still see his face. "Last night in the library I wasn't talking about you! I was talking about Mary-Ann! She's a girl from the village who barely has any friends, one day my Aunt made me go up to her and play with her! I don't like her one bit but she thinks we are best friends!" I tilted my head to see if he was lying.
"Then how do you explain when you said I'm glad she didn't come yesterday?"
"Exactly that! The boys from the village know I don't like her but yet they always invite her out to annoy me, but she didn't come yesterday!" He looked like he was telling the truth. "You honestly think I would backstab you like that?"
"Tristan I honestly don't know what to think anymore! I mean my own brother tried to kill me! Nothing makes sense, now I have my cousin's party to attend!" with that I turned and walked away.
I walked back up the garden and started firing flowers into the sky I carried on walking till I saw the fountain. Sigh. Maybe I shouldn't have been so hard on Tristan he was only trying to make things better after all! I sat on the edge where I sprinkled some petals into the water. I looked down at my reflection ripples where cutting through the water where I had put the petals down. I was staring down when I could see another shape form behind me I turned around in a fright nearly falling into the fountain when a hand grabbed mine.
"Why is it every time I see you I'm catching you?" Tristan smiled at me.
"Maybe if you didn't sneak up on people then they wouldn't have a reason to be scared!" I snapped.
"Look I know you're still mad!"
"To right I am" I said yanking my hand out of his.
"But I want to make it up to you."
"Tristan every time you realise I'm mad at you, you can't just go buy me something to make up for it!" I stood up.
"Who said I was going to buy you anything! I just want to show you I'm sorry!" He snapped.
"Look just don't bother. Maybe the whole talking to Olaf wasn't about me but still I just think it would be best for us to live separate lives."
"Amber don't be like this." He grabbed my hand "Please I don't want to fight anymore I just want thing to go back how they was after we had met; I can't do it on my own! You're the only one getting me through everything" I looked into his soft blue eyes.
I started to walk down the garden towards the party. "Coming then?" I said holding my hand out "I want to meet all your friends from the village" I smiled.
