When Serina hadn't come back from the market after 40 minutes Indy knew something had gone wrong. He went along questioning the merchants about whether or not they had seen her. Finally, one merchant said something about a German soldier carrying away a young boy. This confirmed it. The German's hadn't realized that Indy and Serina had been gone for 3 days already and were searching the desert for her and the idol of Isis which was in Indy's bag. Indy groaned this girl was going to be the end of him with all these time consuming rescues. He had no clue as to where they had gone this time. It would take a while for him to relocate her.
When Serina came to, her vision swam slightly. She did her best to move but couldn't due to having her limbs bound to a chair. A sense of anxiousness kicked in and she tugged at the ropes keeping her down causing her wrists to get rope burn. Serina continued this until she heard a voice 'tsking'. She stopped her struggling and looked up to see the same German soldier that had bashed her head into the desk the last time she was captured. She glared harshly at him.
"Welcome back, Jones. I hope my men weren't too rough with you."
"What do you think?" Serina said in an acidic tone.
"Be careful, Jones. I wouldn't want to have to beat information out of you."
"Oh I'm sure you'd love to you sadistic Nazi bastard." She received a strong slap from his leather gloved hand. She exhaled her breath in a hiss, not wanting to gasp like a weakling.
"Enough fooling around. Where is the idol!?"
"I. Don't. Have it!"
"Then who does?"
"I'm not telling you." Serina turned her head away and stuck her nose up at him. If her arms and legs were free she would have crossed them. The Nazi simply glared at her, his fury boiling inside him but he suppressed it.
"Well, if someone else has it your little accomplice can't be far seeing as we are right next to where you need to be." Serina knew then where they were. She didn't know how but the Nazis had somehow discovered that the staff of Isis was somewhere in the sphinx.
"It's all just rubbish you know. All those legends and rumors about the idol giving you power is all bullshit." Serina said this feeling slightly elated she had never used that curse word before and she felt totally comfortable saying it in this setting. Of course this feeling didn't last long when she was met with the cold glare of the German soldier who was tilting her seat far enough back so that if he let go she would fall. Serina had grown hate the feeling of falling and she actually felt a little scared. The German officer smirked.
"It seems someone has a fear of falling. I think I can use this to my advantage in the future." The German officer let go of the chair causing Serina to fall backward to the ground. To her humiliation she shrieked when she felt the impact of hitting the floor. The German officer laughed and exited the tent leaving Serina there in her discomfort. Serina huffed and squirmed trying to turn over the chair so she could release the pressure on her hands. She managed to turn herself on her side but was suddenly faced with a scaly horror that was sat in the corner of the tent.
"…Fuck…me…"
~With Indy~
Tracking down the Nazi camp was easier than expected. Indy had seen pair of Nazis that were on their way back to the camp. Using a little of his skill he managed to knock them out and steal a uniform. He searched their bags and found the location of their encampment.
"They're back at the sphinx. So they found out about the staff." Indy sighed and reached up to push his hat back but remembered that he didn't have it.
"This kid is going to be the end my sense of normalcy." He continued to the camp and found the tents set out in front of the sphinx. Serina was in one of these tents and he had to get her out and sneak them both back into the tomb to find the staff before the Germans. Entering the camp was like walking into a crowded room. The Nazis weren't looking out for him now because of Serina so he could go through camp without being noticed. He checked various tents, nearly walking in on some Nazi generals that he encountered before. There was a larger tent, carelessly unguarded, towards the end of the camp.
"That must be it." Indy approached the tent and opened the flap ever so slightly to check for any Germans stationed inside. He saw none but he did see Serina's back and that she was tied to a chair, lying on the floor. Indy looked over his shoulder before stepping into the tent and over to Serina.
"You know this rescuing thing is getting old." Indy said as he started to untie Serina. She stayed oddly stiff and spoke through gritted teeth.
"Indy…not now…"
"What? What do you mean not now?" Serina cleared her throat and Indy followed where her gaze was fixed. Sat in the sand only 5 feet away from Serina, was a cobra. It was coiled tightly with its eyes fixed on her as though it was studying her.
"Snakes…" Serina started.
"Why does it always have to be snakes?" Indy sighed and took a short knife out of his pocket.
"Stay completely still. If you make any sudden movements or sounds, it will attack." Indy gave these instructions to Serina as he began to cut the rope. Serina breathed heavily through her nose staying stone still as Indy cut the ropes. A quiet hiss was heard from the serpent and Serina's forehead was starting to sweat from the collective heat and tension. Indy cut the final rope and Serina flipped the chair on it's other side and when the cobra tried to strike it instead caused a collision between it's head and the back of the chair. Serina let out a heavy sigh of relief and quickly got to her feet and scrambled behind Indy. She too was afraid of snakes and Indy was glad to see they had something in common. Serina calmed down, seeing the snake slither out under the tent.
"So now what do we do?" Serina asked.
"We've got no time to waste. We have to go back inside the tomb and find the staff and the ceremonial chamber before the Germans."
"Well then what are we doing standing around."
