Welcome! I am so excited to have you here reading BOOK II of the Transtemporal Trilogy! Happy Birthday to me! I turned 30 today which just feels like a big milestone, so here is my present to myself (you?).

This chapter is mostly just an intro. I will be working on writing this book pretty hard core for a bit before I start posting regularly. (My goal is June! May if we're all lucky) I wanted to make sure I at least started this so that you could have something to Subscribe to!

If you haven't read Transtemporal: Genesis (Book I), PLEASE DO! I am going back and making edits on that one to make it more cohesive and clear. The only major changes that might come into play are that A) Hermione's family hails from Barbados (originally, I had Tanzania, but after thinking about it, I wanted to write from my own Caribbean Identity instead of one that I have no experience with). B) there is (or will be) more smut now in Book I. I was in a weird place when I finished the last few chaps and didn't have it in me to be spicy, but I went back and edited.

If you're interested in Alpha or beta support, please let me know! I love feedback and discussion so talking about my writing always helps the juice flow better. Feel free to comment here or message me on !

Anyways: I hope you enjoy our dive into the 1970s!

Chapter Title: "Child in Time" is a song by English rock band Deep Purple, taken from their fourth studio album, Deep Purple in Rock, released in 1970.

1970

March 28, 1970

Regulus

Regulus Black was, in a word, jaded. He'd spent so much time trying to be the perfect son since Sirius had abandoned him, he couldn't even see the point anymore. It was painfully obvious that the Dark Lord was a madman, and not even in the cool, edgy way. He was just cruel and unnecessary.

Regulus shot up from his bed, gasping for air. The last thing he remembered was being in that cave, being dragged under the waves by cold, wet hands. He patted down his body, trying to remember if it had been a dream. He looked down at his hands in the green light from his windows and was floored to see small, childlike hands.

He threw the covers off and raced to the bathroom, brightening them cables until he could see himself clearly. With a gasp he saw his nine year old self looking back.

"K-Kreacher?" he called, cringing at how high his voice came out.

"The Young Master calls?" Kreacher wheezed.

"When is it?" he asked.

Kreacher blinked at him a few times and then sucked in a breath. "March 28, 1970," he replied. "Young Master came back to fix things, didn't he?"

"I did?" Regulus squeaked.

This had to be a dream. Things like this didn't just happen. Well I guess they could happen, but they didn't, right? Severus had given him some Science Fiction books after Third Year, and honestly it'd been an awakening. A Wrinkle in Time was unlike anything he'd ever read before. It was one of the first things that forced him to think about his purpose and what his impact on the world was.

As soon as he was able, he vowed to find a copy of the book. He could hear the quote bouncing around his brain. "A star giving up its life in battle with the Thing. It won…. But it lost its life in the winning." In light of recent events, which may or may not be a dream, he found the quote even more poignant than he'd originally thought. When he was old enough, he'd get it tattooed over where the Dark Mark had been originally.

If what Kreacher said was true, he was nine. He wouldn't even start at Hogwarts until September 1, 1972. Why the heck had he come back? What was he supposed to change? That didn't even get into how he'd come back. He shook his head, trying to straighten out his racing thoughts.

"Is the Young Master feeling alright?" Kreacher asked.

"Not particularly," he replied with a sigh. "Maybe this is just a dream and when I wake up I'll be back in that cave." He shuffled off to bed, accepting the hot cocoa that Kreacher handed to him, sipping it and feeling his eyes grow heavy.

Theo

Theo groaned as blinked his eyes open. Going back to a time before he was born was painful, to put it lightly. He did a quick mental scan of his body, noting that everything seemed to be where it should be.

He sat up and saw that Hermione and Draco were sprawled on the floor at either side, a very telling space where Regulus' Inferus had been directly across from him. "You both alright?" he asked.

"I'm here," Draco snarled, "alright is still up for debate."

"Don't whine, love," Hermione tutted affectionately. "It's rather unflattering."

"As if anything I do is unflattering," he drawled back.

"Ugh, please don't force me to be your Third Wheel this early in our trip," Theo groaned.

Hermione chuckled and cast a diagnostic charm she'd invented over Theo.

"I see your Pureblood son charm is still in effect," Theo teased.

"Good thing I'm married to a genius Charms Mistress. She's set to break this stupid curse. Granger and I will have many children, who don't believe in Blood Purity," he winked at her.

As per usual, Theo groaned and rolled his own eyes. "Please don't make me an uncle before I'm thirty. I'm not ready to change diapers yet."

With that, Theo pulled out his own wand and waved it at Hermione.

"All seems to be in order," she said after nodding at her own diagnostic. "Darcy, Bennett?"

The two elves appeared and after a moment, threw their arms around Hermione.

"Mistress Hermione, Master Draco, Mister Theo!" They cried, speaking over each other.

"Hello you two," Hermione cooed. "Would you two be dears and go out to buy us time appropriate clothing?" She handed them a sack of money all dated before 1969.

The elves popped away to gather their supplies and the three young adults moved to the parlour. "Alright, so now we need to…" Theo caught sight of himself in the mirror. He looked mostly like himself except not. Maybe he still pictured himself like a teenager, but the face that looked back wasn't that. He looked like an adult. He could see more of his mother in his features than he had before.

He turned to look at his companions who were quietly talking on the other side of the room. "We're adults," he said with a grin.

"Yes Theodore," Hermione said, rolling her eyes. "We have been for ages now."

"Shut up, Mia. I mean last time I looked at myself I'd just turned 20, now I'm 22 in the blink of an eye, it's just wild are these wrinkles?" He shrieked, rubbing the space between his eyes.

Draco snorted and turned to look at himself. "Always the Drama Queen, we're 22 not 72!"

"Actually you're 21," Hermione said with a giggle.

Draco growled playfully and dragged her onto the sofa. The two of them collapsed in a fit of laughter. Theo blinked twice and then moved to sit on top of the pair, pretending he didn't see them.

That was how the elves found them not long after. Theo refused to get off of them and continued sitting in faux petulance, arms crossed.

"Here you are," Bennett piped up, raising an eyebrow at their antics.

Darcy giggled, "It's good to be seeing themselves having fun, Ben!"

When the three of them had extricated themselves from the couch, they stood, looking through the piles of clothes the elves had brought.

Hermione squealed when she pulled out a heavily patterned bright long vest and a pair of flared jeans. Draco and Theo looked at her in surprise. "Imagine how cool I'll look!"

She grabbed a T-shirt and ran towards a bathroom to change, when she came out, both boys were already dressed in more conservative outfits.

Theo couldn't hold in a chuckle when he saw Draco's jaw drop. Hermione looked amazing. The jeans hugged her hips and thighs tightly and the T-shirt skimmed the waistband, showing a strip of her skin.

"Oh no," she tutted, "we're going into the Muggle world, if you're going to be seen with me, you can't look like you've just stepped out of your prep school."

She rustled through their piles and thrust a pair of flared jean and a bright, ruffled shirt to Theo and a pair of maroon pants and a polo with a stripe across the middle to Draco. Both of them looked at the clothes and back at Hermione.

"Come on you two," she groaned, "Ted and I spent hours talking to you about racial tension in the 70s in the Muggle world. If you are going to be my husband out there, then you can't look like a ponce!"

Draco looked affronted and marched towards the bathroom to change. Theo raised an eyebrow to her.

"I thought you were trying to find a man," she sneered playfully, "trust me, men who're looking for men will not be interested if you look like that."

"I think we looked nice," he said, crossing his arms, pouting.

"You look very modern for the Wizarding world, but in the Muggle World, they'll think you're a fuddy duddy," she said, pushing him towards the bathroom.

When Theo closed the door to the bathroom, he looked at the clothes in his hands. He sighed, he was going to have to leave behind a lot of his preconceived notions about who he was, it was time to become who he would be.

Hermione

1970 was fascinating. She dragged Theo and Draco out to a club as soon as she could. "Come on," she said with excitement, "we have to celebrate your birthday, Theodore!"

She grinned as Theo rolled his eyes, and Draco gripped her hand, attempting to mask his anxiety about being out in the Muggle World. She had taken them to the The Four Aces Club, the preeminent Afro-Caribbean club in London, and much of the UK. She'd always wanted to go after she heard stories from her neighbours about the wild nights they'd had before it had been turned into Labyrinth in the 90s.

When they entered the space, Draco hovered even closer to her side, while Theo stepped away, soaking in the sights and sounds around them. She wrapped her arm around Draco's waist and he rested his arm across her shoulders. "I never pictured buttoned up Granger in a space like this," he said into her ear, causing a shiver to run down her spine.

"Well, Malfoy," she said looking up at him, purposely making her eyes look wider and more doe-like. "Maybe you didn't know me at all."

"That's something we can agree upon, witch," he said, laying a kiss on her lips.

She pulled him towards the dance floor, making sure to keep her eye on Theo. She wasn't too worried about him as he had done his own extensive research on being Gay in 1970s Britain, but it was their first day in the 70s. She pulled Draco into a dance to a fast beat, and chuckled a bit at his stiff movements.

She pulled his face down closer to hers, "Stop being so stiff, darling. Move your hips the way you do when we're in bed together."

She bit back a laugh when she watched his pupils dilate. He quickly looked around at the way the other couples were moving and took a cue from them. He pulled her in even closer and began to dance.

The evening passed in a quick blur. Hermione watched as Theo found people to drink with, going shot for shot on their strong Caribbean Rum. Eventually, Draco had to drag him from his new friends, and to the nearest takeaway.

When they arrived back at Granger Estate, thanks to Bennett and Darcy, the three of them were drunk and in high spirits.

"Thanks for this," Theo slurred from where he was slumped on a couch.

"Of course, Theo," she said softly, "we're in this together."

Theo was asleep before he could respond. "Come along, love," Draco whispered. "Let the elves take him to bed, and I'll take you to bed."

She giggled and let him drag her to their room, giggling loudly the whole way.

Draco

The next morning, Draco woke up with a pounding headache, but having Hermione pressed against him almost made up for it. "Bennett," he groaned. "Do we have any hangover potion?"

"Yes, Master Draco," the little elf wheezed. "Darcy be stocking your Potion's room with all the ingredients when you and Mistress be taking Mister Theo out for his birthday."

"You two are a god-send," Hermione groaned from where her face was pressed against his neck. She thrust her hand out of the blankets and rolled on her back. When Bennett handed her the potion, she swallowed it quickly.

He honestly couldn't believe he was married to her. Sure they had been for awhile now, but being here with only Theo, it felt even more real.

Most of his life had been dictated to him. He rarely got to make his own choices in the original timeline, but this time around he was going to change things for the better. As he felt the Hangover Potion soak into his bloodstream, he pulled Hermione closer to him and let himself fall back asleep.
