The second oneshot has the first three verses of the poem Gathering Leaves (I think that's what it's called) by Robert Frost, which I don't own. I wrote this for my mother who's an English teacher and is going back to school; sort of a parody of a Garfield comic strip she saved for her classroom and a parody of a scene from the 2012 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from Nickelodeon, all rolled into one. Enjoy!
*Little Lullaby*
"Hey, hey," Pam said to the crying Vipera soothingly as she sat down on the bed next to her and hugged her in comfort. "What's wrong, Vipie?"
"I…I had a bad dream," she answered with a sniff.
"Oh, there, there," the human said to her softly. "It's okay; nothing's gonna hurt ya." She then gathered the little Serpentine into her arms and set her upon her lap. "I'm here, sweetie."
Outside of his baby sister's bedroom, Pythor was making his way down the hall when he heard a soft sound. It sounds like Pam humming a lovely melody from inside Vipera's room. Curious, he slithered over to the doorway and looked inside.
Pam was sitting on Vipera's bed, slowly and gently rocking the little Anacondrai back and forth while humming to her a wordless lullaby to comfort her while she's curled up on her lap. The poor little thing must have had a nightmare. So Pythor stood there at the doorway until Vipera fell asleep while sucking on her thumb. Smiling down at the adorable Serpentine, Pam gently laid her back on her bed and tucked her in before giving her a small kiss on the forehead. She then turned to see Pythor there but simply placed a finger on her lips to tell him to not make a sound. He nodded in reply before the two of them left to let his little sister sleep.
*Seasonal Poetry*
With a book in his hands, Pythor lied down under the shade of a maple tree. Its leaves have changed to various colors today: crimson red; sunset orange; golden yellow; crisp violet; even a combination of two of those colors. Smiling at the display above him, Pythor opened his book and found a poem that seems proper for it. He then began reading it out loud:
"Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
"I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
"But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face."
"Aww…" Pythor stopped midway through the poem and turned sharply to see Kai and Cole smirking at him.
"Are you reading poetry?" Cole asked in a teasing tone.
"No!" Pythor protested, unsuccessfully hiding the book behind his back with a noticeable blush. "Shut up!"
"That's so cute…" Kai cooed. Pythor's face then became redder.
"Oh, you are dead meat!" he roared, shooting up straight. Realizing their mistake, the two ninja made a break for it with a fuming Pythor chasing after them.
A yard or so away, Zane and Skales were meditating. Despite their closed eyes, they can sense what's going on nearby.
"Apparently," Zane said calmly, "Robert Frost never mentioned ninjas teasing you obnoxiously."
"I wouldn't be surprise," Skales replied, also in a calm state. "If he did, that would be just plain weird."
*Peaceful…?*
"Ahh…Labor Day…" Pythor said to himself as he lied on his back to sun his body. "Nothing like celebrating that special day by enjoying a nice sunbath at the beach. The waves crashing against the shore…the sun giving warmth to a cold-blooded body…*sigh*Perfectly…peaceful…"
"NINJA PILE!" Pythor felt the air being knocked out of his lungs when all five ninja dog-piled him, sending his sunglasses flying into the air before they landed into the sand.
"GAH!" Pythor weakly looked up at the five ninjas grinning at him and gasped out one word. "Really?!"
"Sorry," Kai laughed. "Couldn't resist ruining your moment of peace." Pythor flopped his head into the sand with a groan.
"Sometimes…I wish you can go back to school…"
