It was surprising how quickly things at St. Vlad's calmed down. The transfer students had been here almost two weeks and it was like they had been here all along. Well, at least as far as the social aspect is concerned, that is.
St. Basil's seemed far behind in class. The novices had the skills but didn't know how to use them. They tired quickly and hardly ever won their matches. During my sparring session with Victoria I feared she was near the bottom of her class. Turned out she was one of the top students.
"Dimitri?" I called as we ended our morning session. "Have you watched the new students?"
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
We took a seat on the bleachers as I shared my concerns with him.
"I have noticed that. I honestly don't understand why though. The staff at St. Basil's used to be tough on students and would never stand for this level of skills." He sighed and rubbed his face. "I'm worried there isn't enough time to get them where they need to be."
"Hey." I said placing my hand on his shoulder. "They will get there. Victoria is improving very quickly and the others aren't too far behind."
It was true they were improving. They were landing more hits and their scores were going up. It probably wasn't going to happen quick enough but it was something. We would just have to hope that the Basil's students end up somewhere like court after graduation.
"What if Vika joins us in the morning and afternoon?"
I stilled. Our extra sessions were our only alone time. The time where we could be us. Now that's not to say that we neglected our duty to train, we did that too, but without time to be us…..what will happen to us?
Looking up at Dimitri I could see how much it meant to him for Victoria to be prepared.
I sighed.
"She should join us." His smile grew before I added my next thought. "But I want to tell her about us."
Dimitri was about to protest when I silenced him.
"Look she is your sister. We both trust her. I'm worried that if we don't tell her then we won't get any time to be us. I love you and I know now that you love me too. I don't think I can go back to pretending like we don't again."
He wrapped his arms around me in a reassuring embrace.
"If that is what you want then we can tell her."
"Thank you." I said looking up into the eyes of the man I love.
I was about to pull away when I caught a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Before I knew it Dimitri picked me up and sat me on his lap. His lips found mine and everything else disappeared. My hand slipped behind his head and released the hair tie from the nape of his neck. His arms snaked to my lower back pulling me as close to him as he could. We were completely lost in each other, a rare thing since we were always worried about being caught.
When we broke apart I looked at him questioningly.
"As much as I know Vika will be OK with us, I don't think I will be able to do this in front of her."
"I hadn't thought of that." I said leaning into his chest. "I might just have to get up a few minutes early now. So long as this is the good morning I get."
He chuckled shaking my body that still rested against him. "If you can get here before Vika then I will give you this kind of good morning every morning."
