Chapter 18: Too Far

"Finn, you can't keep doing this forever," Rachel said. Finn had called off work every day for the past week and Rachel was beginning to get worried. She knew Finn was in perfect health.

"I don't want to see her," Finn said.

Rachel sat down. "Finn, I'm sure you can find another job."

"What if I can't?" Finn asked.

"If you can't, then you we'll be fine," Rachel said. "Kurt, Santana, Blaine and I all have jobs."

"But I don't want to feel like a burden to you guys," Finn said.

Rachel gave Finn a kiss. "Finn, you'll be fine."

"I don't think I should quit yet," Finn said, pausing between words. "Lucy just... but Rach, maybe could you walk to work with me tomorrow?"

"Of course," Rachel said. She knew that things weren't right, and she was determined to get to the bottom of this.

Rachel walked Finn to work the next day. When they arrived at Finn's work, they ran into Lucy in the lobby. "What's she doing here?" Lucy asked Finn.

Finn didn't know what to say. Making sure that Lucy didn't touch Finn in the elevator again? Keeping him safe?

Luckily, Rachel spoke first. "Am I not allowed to spend time with my boyfriend?"

"If I had one, I'd want to spend time with him, too," Lucy said.

"So you shouldn't make it seem so wrong that I want to spend time with Finn," Rachel said. The three of them went up in the elevator in silence, and when they arrived at the law offices, Rachel turned to Finn. "Do you think your boss is here yet?"

"I'm sure he is," Finn said.

"Well, I'm going to talk to him," Rachel said.

Finn had a feeling he knew what Rachel wanted to do. She wanted to say something about Lucy. "Can I come with you?"

"Of course," Rachel said. They walked down the hall to Finn's boss's office, and Rachel knocked on the door.

"Come in," Finn's boss called.

"Hi," Rachel said. "I'm Rachel Berry, Finn's girlfriend. I understand you're his boss."

"Yes," the boss said.

"Someone tried to break into our apartment the other day, and that hit Finn pretty hard," Rachel said. "He's afraid to be alone, so his brother's going to be coming here around the time his shift is over to walk home with him, and one of our roommates will keep doing that until he feels back to normal. Is that okay with you? Could you let us in?"

"Of course," Finn's boss said. "Are you okay, Finn?"

"I will be," Finn said. He had to be thankful to Rachel. Since Finn wouldn't let himself and Lucy be alone in her office, she would try to touch him in the elevator before and after work.

"Thank you," Finn whispered to Rachel as they walked down to the lobby. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

"Look, I know she makes you uncomfortable, and if you're not alone, I think she'll be less likely to say or do things," Rachel said, giving Finn a kiss.

"Do you think you'll be okay at rehearsal?" Finn asked. Today Rachel had her first practice as the understudy for Funny Girl.

"Yeah," Rachel said. "I worked things out with our roommates so someone can meet you after work."

Finn hoped that this would mean Lucy would leave him alone.

"You thought you could avoid me, didn't you?" a voice said.

Finn walked out of the stall in the restroom at work and saw Lucy. Why was Lucy in the men's restroom? He decided he wasn't going to be polite anymore. "Why are you in here?"

Lucy walked over to Finn and moved her hand down his chest, eventually touching the zipper on Finn's pants. Finn pushed Lucy's hand away. "Stop touching me," he snapped. He couldn't stand to be here any longer. Right now, he just took off, not even caring that he was leaving work without saying anything to his boss. He'd explain later, if he felt like it. He just wanted to go home.

"You are a horrible person," Finn snapped. He went back to the offices, told his boss he wasn't feeling well and wanted to go home for the day, took his stuff and ran to the train station as fast as he could. Luckily, the train going to their neighborhood was arriving, so Finn got on the train and went to their apartment. He ran from the train to the apartment, practically losing his breath when he finally walked into the living room, where Kurt was reading Cosmo.

"Finn, what's going on?" Kurt asked.

Finn couldn't keep this a secret anymore. "Lucy..."

"What about Lucy?" Kurt asked.

"Lucy's been touching me," Finn said quietly.

Kurt looked horrified. "WHAT?!"

"Yeah," Finn said. He couldn't just keep this to himself.

"Finn..." Kurt began. "I'm so sorry."

"I should have told you sooner," Finn admitted. "Or told Rachel or someone. I just... I thought if I told people they'd think that I was lying. I mean, look at Lucy. She finished college so much earlier than everyone else, and then she breezed through law school and became a lawyer at a law firm in New York. I didn't think anyone would believe me over her." It did feel better to finally let it all out.

Kurt looked sick. "Oh my God, Finn. I'm so sorry."

Finn felt tears coming to his eyes. "That's why I hate her so much, Kurt. That's why I never want to go to work. She touched me in the elevator, when I delivered her mail... I don't want to go back there."

"You shouldn't go back," Kurt said. "When Rachel gets home from the diner, we'll talk to her. I'm sure we could find you another job."

"But..."

"Finn, what Lucy's doing could qualify as assault," Kurt said. "Look at you. You're terrified. Rachel said that you've been waking up and talking in your sleep at night and have been restless in the bed. We're going to need to tell Rachel about this and tell Mom and Dad."

"Dad's going to freak out," Finn said.

"Of course he is," Kurt said. "Finn, this is bad."

Blaine came into the apartment. "Is everything okay?"

Kurt sighed. "Finn's being touched by Lucy."

Blaine dropped his papers from work. "WHAT?! I knew that she was into you, but this?! This is worse than Sebastian!"

"Today at work, I was in the men's room, and she came in," Finn said. "She started touching me and she even got to my pants zipper."

"Okay, that's just wrong!" Kurt shouted. "The men's room? Your zipper? That girl is a psycho!"

"I can't go back there," Finn said. "I'm afraid to go there."

"I'm calling Rachel at rehearsal," Blaine said. "She needs to get home and hear about this."

"Finn, we'll need to call the police," Kurt said. "You should get a restraining order."

"Do you think they'd let me?" Finn asked.

"They should," Blaine said. "I'm going to go call Rachel."

"You'll be okay," Kurt said to Finn.

Rehearsal hadn't been what Rachel had hoped.

She hadn't gotten to sing or read any of the lines. In fact, she watched Marissa and Paolo go over the scenes and songs again, and again, and again, and Rupert told her to watch them very carefully in case Marissa ever couldn't go on.

Eventually, one of the other staff members came over to Rachel. "Rachel, your phone's ringing."

Rachel had a feeling it was Finn. "Okay."

"No!" Rupert said. "We need her to watch this scene."

"You've already ran over it four times today," Rachel said. "If Marissa ever can't go on, I think I know how it works."

Rachel followed the staff member into her office and picked up the phone. She saw that it was Kurt's number. Was Finn in trouble?

Rachel picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Rachel, you've got to get home!" Kurt said.

Rachel felt her heart skip a beat. "Is Finn okay?"

"Finn's at home, but we need you," Kurt said.

"Okay, I'll be home," Rachel said. She hung up the phone and turned to the producer. "I need to go home."

"But this is your first day!" the staff member said.

"There's some stuff going on at my house!" Rachel said. "I need to get home."

"This isn't a good thing to do on your first day," the staff member said.

"I'm sorry," Rachel said. "I need to get home. This won't happen again." She took her bags and went to the apartment. Kurt, Blaine and Santana were sitting with Finn in the living room. "What's going on?"

"Rachel, Lucy's been touching Finn," Kurt said. "In ways that she shouldn't be touching him."

Rachel knew what Kurt meant. She wanted to scream, to vomit, to throw things. She wanted to go to Lucy, wherever she was, and punch her and kick her and pull her hair out. But right now, she just went over to Finn and hugged him close. "Finn..."

Finn hugged Rachel close. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner," Finn said.

"Finn, you have nothing to apologize about," Rachel said, rubbing Finn's back. All she wanted to do was make Finn feel better.

"We're going to make her pay, Finn," Santana said. "We're going to go all Lima Heights on her ass."

"I love you," Rachel said.

"I definitely think you should quit, Finn," Blaine said.

"What if she told the boss that I pushed her hand away?" Finn asked. "What if this somehow makes me look bad? Men hurting women is more common and I'm at least eight inches taller..."

Rachel felt horrible that this was what Finn was worried about. "Finn, we know the truth. We're going to figure something else out."

"Yeah, Lucy's going to get what she deserves," Santana said when they heard a knock at the door.

Santana got up and looked through the peephole. "Speak of the devil..."

"She's here?" Finn asked, looking terrified.

"Should we call the police?" Blaine asked.

"Maybe could you guys tell her to leave me alone?" Finn asked. "You can be pretty intimidating, Santana."

"That's true," Santana said. She opened the door. "Hello."

Lucy stepped into the apartment and made a face. "What are you all doing here?" Lucy asked.

"Are you really asking that?" Blaine asked.

"I thought Finn would be the only one here," Lucy said.

Rachel tried to hold in her disgust. However, she had to be strong. "Don't you ever touch Finn again."

"What are you talking about?" Lucy asked.

Rachel stood up, walked over to Lucy and slapped her. "Oh, don't even pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about. We all know all about what you did to Finn."

"Yeah, about how you've been touching him," Kurt said. "For someone who went to law school, I would have thought you'd learned a thing or two about sexual assault."

"You guys are such a pathetic lot," Lucy said.

Santana began walking toward Lucy. "You think so, huh?"

"Yeah," Lucy said.

"Well, I'm from Lima Heights and that made me tough," Santana said. "I could destroy you."

"Aren't you guys forgetting that I'm a lawyer?" Lucy asked. "It's not a good idea to cross my path."

Rachel couldn't put up with Lucy anymore. "Lucy, you think you're so much better than us," she said. "Just because you got a high paying job before you're 25. You are a sick person and I don't want you near Finn ever again. Finn's vulnerable. He's had bad girlfriend experiences in the past and he's in a new city. You taking advantage of him in a particularly vulnerable time makes things even worse. You're a disgusting person, and one day, life will catch up with you."

"I have something for you, Lucy," Kurt said.

"What is it?" Lucy asked.

"Something from the halls of McKinley High," Kurt said. He went into the kitchen and came back with a slushie in his hand, then threw it on Lucy.

"What the hell?!" Lucy shouted. "This outfit was about five hundred dollars!"

"That's what you deserve," Blaine said. Rachel looked over at Finn, who had a bigger smile than she'd seen in a while.

"Now get the hell out of our apartment and don't come back here," Santana said.

"If you don't leave now, we're calling the police," Kurt said.

Lucy left the apartment, but everyone had a feeling they'd see her again. Rachel hugged Finn close. "We'll make sure we get rid of her once and for all."

"I'm so lucky to have such a great girlfriend, brother and friends," Finn said as he hugged Rachel.
