Chapter 29

Allison's POV

After dinner Optimus took me to the grocery store so I could buy what I needed to make breakfast for the soldiers. The ride had been a silent one, both of us thinking. I was thinking about the wonderful breakfast that the soldiers would be waking up to, Optimus most likely what I had said about Sentinel. It was a lot to think over. Help a friend and maybe find out that he wasn't a friend and then lose the humans' trust. I was glad I didn't have to figure that problem out. I had to deal with the after math.

I hated politics but I dealt with it for my friends. I had just walked into the grocery store, Optimus' holoform beside me. "What are we here for Allison?" Optimus asked.

"Breakfast for the soldiers Optimus. Whoever does the cooking did not learn how to do it properly." I had a cart, moving into the store heading for milk and eggs. I placed six gallons of milk, six dozen eggs, five bottles of syrup, two bags of powdered sugar, five loaves of bread, and ten pounds of bacon in the cart. Once I had what I needed I returned to Optimus' cab loading all of the groceries into it. I had paid for everything, even though Optimus had insisted that he do it. Optimus' holoform disappeared as soon as he got inside. Half way home and no one had spoken and I decided to end the silence, "okay, what are you thinking about Optimus?"

He sighed, "About what to do with Sentinel. I'm not sure what to do."
"Whatever you decide Optimus, I will back you."

"Thank you Allison, but if I decide to bring Sentinel back-"

"The shit is going to hit the fan," I finished. "And I will do everything in my power to protect you from what the world leaders and others will do. Moments later we were back at the base and Ironhide and Sunny came out to help me unload all my stuff. As we made our way to the kitchen in the south end of the base we remained silent. We didn't want to wake anyone. We walked through the dark halls, with Optimus' holoform in the lead. He was going to let me into the kitchen, he had the override code. As he punched in the code everyone went in, Optimus bringing up the rear as he had been holding the door for the rest of us.

"What are you making Squishy?"

I looked at Sunny out of the corner of my eye. "French toast, bacon, and scrambled eggs." I didn't wait, I got straight to work, it was late and I needed to have this done by six in the morning. I also had another session with Smokescreen tomorrow, in the afternoon though and the Auto bots had a mission near Russia tomorrow, at Chernobyl. For the most part I cooked in silence, thinking about what Optimus should do, how would the things that were going to happen change if he did or didn't bring Sentinel back?

Hours later I had breakfast done, and was exhausted. I also had to go on this mission to the Middle East, I had insisted on this so that I could know the best way to defend them from the humans. I needed to know first-hand about every mission they went on. This way my opinion could not be challenged because my information was second hand. By six everyone had filed into the kitchen and was surprised to easy something recognizable for breakfast. "Allison, did you do this?" Lennox asked.

"Yeah, with a little help from the Auto bots. Thank Optimus, he took me to the store so I could do this." With that I grabbed a plate before all the food was gone. I just hoped I had made enough for everyone. I went to sit with the Auto bots, next to Optimus. 45 minutes later I boarded a plane with the Auto bots and a hand full of NEST soldiers, including Lennox.

All that I knew that we were doing was destroying some kind of technology that would be disastrous if humans could ever use it. So on the way I slept, not having slept last night and my bed of choice was Optimus' shoulder. Dino, Sideswipe, Bee, and Ratchet were the other Auto bots to come as well.

Before I knew it I felt a metal finger rubbing my back. I slowly started to stir. "Allison," I heard Optimus' voice. I managed to get myself to a sitting position and started rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. "We'll be landing in a few moments." Optimus, Lennox and I went to meet someone who had information for us while the others went to deal with some sort of invention, I assumed. I would ask later, because this would raise some hell. I would have gone with them, but I was needed more elsewhere, and that was my job, to be where I was needed the most. I walked into what looked like a lobby with Lennox and we went to the second floor which over looked the first. The floors were an expensive stone, the windows huge, with cast iron railings and such around the room.

The man that met us was short, fat, balding, wore glasses, and a dark suite. He said something about a discovery that may be alien in nature. A few hours later we were on the road, heading for Chernobyl. I found myself in a biohazard suit, with iodine pills in my system, sitting in Optimus' cab.

Optimus drove in the lead onto the ash covered ground, making it look like snow and ash was blowing in the air from the gentle breeze. As Optimus pulled to a stop Lennox got out of the passenger side of Optimus' cab while I slid out of the driver's side. "Allison, stay out here with Optimus. I'll go in with the others." With that he turned to the man who we had talked to the other day whose name I could not say or spell for the life of me and asked him where his protective gear was. As they headed inside the conversation was lost to my ears.

The place in which I stood had a haunted feeling, like I was not alone, other Optimus. I could sense some of the emotions that the landscape had absorbed but there was something else more chilling about the place. Something like we were being watched by unfriendly eyes. After several minutes I could no longer take the feeling that I was being watched. I was growing nervous. "Optimus, we're being watched."
