Lara pulled away from Alex, and looked into his crystal blue orbs. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to trust him so badly – she just didn't know if she could do it.
Alex was watching her closely as she was thinking. He didn't know whether what she was thinking was good or bad. That's when she said those terrifying words.
"Alex, I think I need to get away for a while…" Lara said, a regretful look on her face. She needed things to go back to normal. She needed to tomb raid and the like. That's what she wanted. It's what she craved. She stands up strongly, her confidence building with each step that she took up to her study.
Lara knew that her relationship with Alex was on the rocks. She knew it. But she also knew that for her sake, she needed to get away. Her time of loss was over, and it was time to start a new chapter of her life. Either with or without Alex's approval.
