Oh my gosh - 1000 reviews! I never thought that would happen. Thank you all so much! I can't believe I have that many. I never thought I would, especially since I'm not one of the well known fanfic writers. I thought I'd let you guys know that at this point, I am leaning toward writing a Season 6! (Especially since I REALLY don't like what I've heard about the real Season 6.) Enjoy and review if I should keep going!
Chapter 51: The Interview
Finn looked over his resume. Today he had the interview for the position of directing the glee club of the high school in New York. He looked over his resume and was about to leave when Blaine came into his bedroom. "Hey Finn."
"Hey," Finn said. "What's up? I was just about to leave for my interview."
"I know," Blaine said. "Sam and Artie and I put together a little something that we sent to the person interviewing you, and we wanted to show you before you go." He handed Finn a DVD.
"What's this?" Finn asked.
"It's only a few minutes," Blaine said. "If you want to watch it real quick, you can."
Finn nodded. "Okay." He popped the DVD into the DVD player and saw Blaine, Sam, Artie and Tina on the screen. "Hi," Blaine said. "It's our understanding that you're considering our friend Finn Hudson for the position of glee club director at your school."
"We're here to tell you that Finn would be perfect for this position," Sam said. "During our senior year of high school, he was one of the leaders of our glee club, and we couldn't have asked for a better person."
"Finn took over the glee club for a brief period on his own when our director was part of a panel in DC," Artie said. He held up a program from the McKinley production of Grease. "Directing is my dream. When I was at McKinley, I directed two school musicals, and Finn helped me direct one my senior year. The production got some rave reviews and was hailed as one of the best musicals McKinley ever did."
Tina was now on the screen. "It was during the year that Finn was leading the club that I really got the courage to step outside my comfort zone. During my first three years of high school, I was afraid to sing solos, but that all changed with Finn at the helm of the glee club."
Now Rory was on the screen. "Finn was my first friend in America. He reached out to me when people were making fun of me for being an exchange student and introduced me to the glee club. The only thing I wish had been different would have been that I'd gotten to be in the club the year he was the leader.
"Finn's a gift from God," Joe said, taking his turn on the screen. "He's so kind, so accepting, such a wonderful person."
"Finn got me my first ever role in a musical!" Sugar said as she showed up.
The camera showed Marley and Ryder now. "The two of us were the leads in the musical Finn directed," Ryder said. "Finn personally recruited me for the musical and I was so reluctant at first, but I'm so happy that he did. He showed me that singing was a lot of fun, helped me deal with some personal issues, and led me to meet the love of my life." He smiled and pointed at Marley.
"Finn led the glee club when I was going through a tough time in my personal life," Marley added. "I didn't think I was going to get through it, but thanks to Finn and glee, I came out stronger than ever."
Now Kitty was the focus. "At this time two years ago, to put it simply, I was a bitch and a bully. Then Finn and the glee club came into my life, and I became a much better woman."
"Finn's a natural leader, and he put together some great numbers for the glee club and helped me develop friendships that will last forever," Jake said when it was his turn.
"When I first came to McKinley, I was still having trouble accepting who I truly was," Unique said as she came on the screen. "Now I have a group of people who loves me for who I am, thanks to Finn."
The camera went back to the three boys who were behind the movie. "Finn has been one of my best friends for years," Artie said. "Even before we met in glee club, he always had my back. He was always there for me and he's someone we all look up to."
"Finn found me during a tough time in my life and helped me get my life on track," Sam said. "If it wasn't for him, I don't think I'd be where I am today."
"When Finn was leading the glee club, I was going through the worst time of my life, but he helped me through it," Blaine said. "He helped keep me from making some really bad choices. As you can see, Finn's an amazing person. The year that he was leading our glee club, he changed all of our lives for the better. We know he's going to do that for the kids in your glee club, too."
At the end of the video, Finn looked at Blaine. He didn't know what to say. "Wow."
"We thought that they should hear from people who worked with you as their glee director," Blaine said. "Rachel and Kurt really wanted to say things too, but as your fiancee and brother..."
Finn laughed. "Yeah, I get it. Anyway, thanks so much for getting in touch with all of them. It really means a lot to me."
"No problem," Blaine said. "Good luck at your interview."
Finn picked up the DVD and went to the high school where the interview would be held. After a few minutes, the secretary called his name. "The extracurricular activities administrator is ready to see you," the secretary said.
Finn knocked on the door that had a sign on it that said, "Robert Williams, Director of Athletic and Extracurricular Activities." "Come in," a voice on the other end said.
Finn opened the door and saw a man in his 30s. "Mr. Williams?" Finn said, starting to feel nervous. "Hi, I'm Finn Hudson. I'm here today to interview for the position of glee club director."
"Yes," Mr. Williams said. "I was expecting you, Mr. Hudson. How are you today?"
"I'm fine," Finn said, feeling his heart beat fast. This didn't have to be so nerve wracking. He'd been a glee club director before. He reached into his folder. "I brought another copy of my resume."
"I was looking over your resume," Mr. Williams told Finn. "It's pretty impressive for someone your age. A National championship in show choir, two Regional titles, two Sectional titles and even a year of directing a choir that you led to second place at Nationals."
Finn smiled. "Yeah. I was the male lead singer of the glee club at my high school when I was there. I stayed close with the director of the glee club, and when he had to leave for a few months after I graduated, he recruited me to lead the club while he was gone. Even after he came back, I stayed on the rest of the year before I left for Columbia."
"So you go to Columbia?" Mr. Williams asked. "And you work at the Spotlight Diner too, I see."
Finn nodded. "Yeah. I'm sure the diner would be willing to work with my schedule though."
"Well, it's after school two hours a day, three days a week," Mr. Williams told Finn. "Does that sound okay to you?"
"Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem," Finn said. "I was helping out with the glee club at my high school during the spring quarter of college back when I was in Ohio and they met after school every day."
"I see," Mr. Williams said. "I spoke to Will Schuester, and he was very complimentary of you. He said that you're a very strong singer and drummer and that you really connect with the kids."
"I try to," Finn said. "Actually..." He got out the DVD Blaine had given him. "The members of the glee club from the year I was leading it made this for me to show you."
Mr. Williams took the DVD. "Okay." He put it in his computer and Finn looked on to watch it. He had to admit, it made him smile once again. After the DVD finished playing, the administrator turned to Finn. "Mr. Schuester was right when he told me you really have a way with the glee club members. Hearing them say those things about you... it showed you really left an imprint on their lives."
"That's what my goal was," Finn said.
"Well, you also sent me the videos of you performing with the New Directions," Mr. Williams continued. "You're very talented, and that's definitely something we'd like for our glee club."
"Thank you," Finn said. "That's what my fiancee always says to me."
"Fiancee?"
"Yeah, she was actually the short brunette girl in the videos you saw of me. She's actually an understudy on Broadway and I'm sure she'd be happy to give pointers."
"Well, that would be a plus."
"I definitely want to lead a glee club one day," Finn said. "I know that not having my degree yet puts me at a disadvantage, but this is something that I think I'm really good at and something I'm really passionate about. When I was up there in high school singing and drumming, I felt so special, like I was part of something incredible. I really want other kids to get that and to be able to give it to them."
"Well, Finn, we are seriously considering you," Mr. Williams said. "Your resume, the videos of you performing, your references, and now that DVD you showed me of the students you worked with and the things you told me today all make you look really good. We do have some other people who we're interviewing as well though."
Finn just hoped they'd choose him. "I understand. I just hope you know that I'm very, very interested."
"And any glee club would be lucky to have you as their leader," Mr. Williams said. "We'll probably make a decision around the end of the school year and we'll be in touch with you."
"Okay, thank you," Finn said before he left. He thought the interview had gone well, and it sounded like he was being seriously considered, but at the same time, he had no idea what the other candidates were like. As soon as he'd turned the corner, he picked up the phone and called Rachel.
Rachel picked up right away. "Hey Finn!"
"Hey Rach," Finn said.
"How was your interview?" Rachel asked.
"I think it went pretty well actually," Finn said. "He said he liked the videos of us performing with the glee club, and he liked the video the glee club members made for me."
"I loved that video too!" Rachel said. "I really wanted to be in it, but since we're engaged..."
"Yeah, that's what Blaine said to me," Finn said. "I get it."
"Plus, it was nice that the people who were in the glee club when you were directing it could do that for you," Rachel said.
"Mr. Schue said good things about me, too," Finn said.
"Of course he did," Rachel agreed. "I'll see you when you get home."
"Okay," Finn said. As he hung up the phone and arrived home, he saw Rachel, Kurt, Blaine and Santana sitting in the living room, going through a wedding magazine. "Hey, what are you guys up to?" Finn asked.
"I've enlisted Rachel and Santana to try to help me convince Blaine to get some doves for the wedding," Kurt said.
"Doves?" Finn asked.
"Yeah, Kurt wants to release live doves," Blaine said. "I don't know if that's a good idea..."
"No, it's a great idea," Santana countered.
"So, how was your interview?" Rachel asked Finn.
"I think it went pretty well," Finn said. "They are interviewing some other people for the position, but they liked the video that the kids I worked with made, and Mr. Schue said good things about me."
"You'll get the job," Rachel said. "I know you will."
Finn smiled and gave Rachel a hug when Santana's phone started ringing. "Is that Brittany again?" Blaine asked.
Santana looked at her phone. "Yes. I wish she'd just understand that I've moved on."
"She's been calling all day," Kurt told Finn before turning back to Santana. "You should answer the phone. It must be something important."
Santana groaned. "Okay then." She picked up the phone. "Hello?" "Hi Brittany, look, I still want to be friends with you, but you need to understand that..." Then she paused and looked shocked. "Oh my God, Brittany, are you okay?" "Well, when did it happen?" "I'm so, so sorry... are you with your family?" "Well, at least you're not alone..." "I'm so sorry, I know how important he was to you..."
Rachel, Finn, Kurt and Blaine exchanged looks. What was going on? Was Brittany okay? It definitely didn't sound like it...
"Well, if you need anything, just let me know," Santana said before she hung up the phone and turned to her roommates. "Brittany's cat died."
"Oh no," Kurt said. All of them knew how much Brittany loved her cat. "When?"
"While she was at classes today," Santana said. "We don't know exactly what happened."
"You should go be with her," Rachel said. "I know you're not together anymore, but she's still your best friend, and you two have a lot of history. I bet she'd really appreciate having you with her."
Santana looked uneasy. "Well..."
"She really missed you last year, Santana," Blaine added. "She and I bonded a lot, and it wasn't just as a girlfriend that she missed you as. She missed her best friend."
"Maybe I should go be with her," Santana said. "Do you think Dani would be okay with it?"
"I'm sure she would," Rachel said. "She knows that you and Brittany are close friends and Brittany's going through a hard time."

Santana ended up going to Lima to be with Brittany, leaving the two engaged couples in the apartment. "Do you think she still has feelings for Brittany?" Kurt asked.
"I don't know," Blaine admitted. "She seems happy with Dani."
"Well, they'll see each other at both our weddings," Finn pointed out.
"At least since we pair bridesmaids and groomsmen up for walking down the aisle, we don't have to worry about it potentially being awkward by pairing them together," Rachel said.
"You two are lucky you're Kurt's best man and maid of honor," Blaine said. "That way you can walk down the aisle together."
"Hey, we're sorry that you can't walk down together at our wedding," Finn said. "The best man and maid of honor always walk down the aisle together, so Kurt's automatically walking with Kylie."
"Who am I walking with?" Blaine asked.
"Well, since you're like the second best man and Santana's like the second maid of honor, you two will walk together, right before Kurt and Kylie," Rachel said. "Sam and Tina will be right before you guys, since he's Finn's other best friend. We were also thinking of pairing up Quinn and Puck, of course, and also Mercedes and Artie, and Brittany and Mike."
"That way no one has to walk with an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend," Finn pointed out.
"Yeah," Blaine said. "We're still working out pairings for our wedding processional. You two of course, and Sam and Tina, but we're still trying to figure out everything else."
"I can't believe we're all going to be married this summer," Rachel said, her thoughts going back to her nightmare the other day. She'd thought about what life would be like if she hadn't changed - she knew it wouldn't be like it was now. And she loved her life now.
"What is it?" Finn asked.
"What do you mean?" Rachel asked.
"I know that look," Finn said. "You were thinking about something."
"It's just - about a week ago, I had a dream that I was back in high school again," Rachel admitted. "I ran into Sue Sylvester around town and she told me that the old Rachel Berry would have gotten the part on Broadway. I thought about that, and then I had a dream that I was still the crazy, solo-obsessed girl I was at the beginning of high school. Finn was dating Quinn, Santana was dating Puck, Tina was still stuttering, Kurt insulted my clothes, Mike and Matt slushied me and no one had any idea who Blaine and Sam were."
"That sounds like a nightmare," Finn said.
"It was," Rachel said. "But in this nightmare, I didn't know that I'd gone back in time right away." She turned to Kurt. "You were so mean to me!"
"I'm sorry," Kurt said. "You know I'd never do that now."
"Of course," Rachel said. "Finn, I tried to explain to you that I was from a different world, and then you began making out with Quinn..."
"Well, what matters is that we're here now and we're going to get married," Finn interupted as he began kissing Rachel.

The next evening, Santana got home from Lima. Finn and Blaine were both working the late shift at the diner, so just Kurt and Rachel were home now. When Santana arrived, Kurt immediately asked, "How's Brittany?"
"Devastated," Santana admitted. "I really didn't want to leave her. This is clearly really hard for her."
Rachel and Kurt exchanged a look. It was clear that despite the breakup, Santana still cared deeply for Brittany.
"I thought it was in the past," Santana continued. "But I just - I didn't want to leave her and I was thinking about her on the whole way home."
"Well, there are some people you never fully get over," Kurt said. "I think you should see if you still feel this way in a few days."
"Yeah," Rachel added. "Maybe those feelings are still there."
