Chapter 7!
I'm losing feeling for this story... but I promise I'll complete it! (I haven't even gotten to the main plot of this story... TT_TT)
Disclaimer: I do not own Nurarihyon no mago.
oh, and please check out my other story, "I currently don't have a name for this story (READ IT THOUGH!)
"This... is impossible..." Rikuo and Hagoromo Kitsune breathed, looking at the army in front of them.
"Hah? Are you giving up already? I expected something better from the leader of the Kyoto youkai and the Sandaime of the Nura Gumi." Rihan, Rikuo, and Hagoromo Kitsune looked at the direction of the voice. The woman had her legs dangling from the edge of a hole in the roof. She jumped down, landing next to them.
"No helping it. I'll be joining the fight." She shrugged as she walked past them. "I'll take care of the gates. You guys go ahead and defeat Seimei." The woman stopped in the middle of walking. "Kishi, go fight if you want." She added as an afterthought.
"Yay! I can finally join the fight!" Kishi threw her medical supplies up in the air and drew her daggers. She ran up next to them.
Upon seeing this, Seimei had no reaction. "Have you learned nothing? No matter how many times you were to destroy them, I can still bring them ba-" Seimei cut himself off, a look of bewilderment on his face.
What's going on? Why aren't they resurrecting? Seimei thought, as he realized that he couldn't bring his comrades back to life.
"Give it up. The gates are no longer under your control." A voice came from behind Seimei. He turned around to see his former teacher standing there, holding two fingers up.
"The gates are now under my control. In other words, I can resurrect whomever I want." She smirked, before looking towards Rikuo.
"Do you remember these guys?" She asked as the gates opened behind her. Out stepped several familiar people. Among them were-
"Hihi!" Rikuo yelled in surprise.
"Yakushi!" Rihan yelled towards the bird youkai.
"I-Inugami... Hari-onna... Everyone..." Tamazuki whispered, as his old comrades also stepped out.
"Don't worry. That woman told us everything." Hari-onna said as she saw Tamazuki, who looked guilty.
"Yeah! I'm still gonna follow you and tear that Nue's neck off!" Inugami pumped up his fist energetically.
"Tamazuki-sama... We will all... follow you once more... As long as you don't try and kill us again." The youkai of the previous Hachijuu Hyakki Yakko said. Tamazuki couldn't help chuckling at their response.
"All right. Let's go everyone! Let's prove it to everyone... That Shikoku is still strong!" He yelled. The rest of his Hyakki Yakko followed, all screaming various war cries.
"I was quite surprised when I heard that you were alive, Nidaime." Hihi said while looking at said person. Rihan rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Well, I did actually die at the time..." Rihan said, trailing off at the end.
"Then..." Hihi started.
"Yeah. I came back. I'll go into details later." Rihan answered. Jeez. How many times do I have to explain this later? He asked himself.
"Gagoze." Rikuo said with a monotone voice, glaring at the child-eating youkai.
"Waka." Gagoze said back in the same tone.
"...Why are you here? I thought you'd be on the Nue's side." Rikuo nodded his head towards Seimei, who was (still) staring in shock.
"Hmph. I may not be keen on the idea of you being the Third, but I don't want the Nura Gumi to end, either." Gagoze said. "Unfortunately, since you're too weak to defeat the Nue by yourself, I'll have to give a hand in this fight." Rikuo blinked a few times, trying to comprehend what Gagoze just said. Slowly, a smirk spread across his face.
"I got it. So just this once?"
"Just this once." Gagoze confirmed.
"All right. Let's go you guys!" Rikuo yelled to his army. The entire group cheered with newfound energy.
"Release all of your fear... And charge forward!" He yelled, as they charged towards Seimei.
"Don't screw with me!" Seimei yelled, as he put up his hand. A barrier with a five-pointed star appeared in front of his hand, and expanded. Rikuo's army charged forward, into the barrier.
"Urgh..." Rikuo groaned, as the barrier threatened to repel them away. Cracks began to appear on Nenekirimaru's surface. No! Rikuo thought. Not now!
"Heh. Seems like I had nothing to worry about after all." Seimei chuckled, watching the precious sword break away into pieces.
Suddenly, Rikuo felt someone's hand steady his own. He looked over and saw his father. Then, he saw Yamabuki Otome's hand also steady the sword. Rikuo looked farther behind, and saw everyone in his hyakki yakko, even the ones at the main house. He felt...happy. Oh yeah… He thought. This is my hyakki; my family. Nenekirimaru embodies all of our fear.
"So that's why," Rikuo grunted through gritted teeth. "We will definitely cut you down, Seimei!" He yelled, as the blade sliced through the Nue, cutting part of Seimei's face and body off. At first, Seimei just stood in his original place. Slowly, he started to rot, just like the other Gokadoin. As his corpse withered away, the castle crumbled away with him.
"Watch out!" The youkai clamoured, as they fell to the ground. When the rubble finally settled, the youkai started climbing out. The sun had just come up, and Rikuo had returned to his day form. He was kneeling down, on top of a pile of rocks, using Nenekirimaru to prop himself up. The youkai looked at one another.
"We-WE WOOOONNNN!" One youkai yelled, and soon enough, all of the other youkai started yelling along. Even Yamabuki was cheering, although the most surprising was the fact that Itaku had a huge smile on his face. The youkai started high-fiving each other, and described what their victory feast should be.
"Come on, Rikuo! We won!" Awashima said as he hit Rikuo's shoulder, who was still kneeling in the same place. Instead of reacting to the slap, Rikuo simply fell face forward, into the rubble.
"...What?" The clamouring quickly stopped, as they watched their unmoving leader.
"The hell do you mean by 'What?'" A voice called out. Seimei's teacher stepped out from behind a broken slab of concrete.
"Why- Why isn't Rikuo-sama moving?!" Tsurara cried, frozen tears starting to form in her eyes. The woman sighed.
"The only reason those not of this world anymore could come back to life, was because the gates to hell were open. When you defeated Seimei, the doors closed along with his death."
"So- you mean-" Tsurara didn't dare finish her sentence.
"Ah. He's dead."
Alright. don't kill me just yet. Like I said, I'm not even half done with the story, and Rikuo will definitely come back to life, I swear! You're just gonna hafta wait until I can type everything out~
