Herald Efrain was the second Karsite to be chosen as a Herald, he had been serving Valdemar and the Sunlord for three years now. He was a teenager when Enchantress came for him. His Companion was one that allowed him to name her.

Harry felt a little intimated by the Karsite wondering how well they will mesh.

Efrain looked at Harry, "Well, you ready?" as he gave one last pull on Enchantress's girth. He checked at packs on the mules.

Harry nodded and gave a quick check b of his things "So where are we heading off to."

"Sorrows one." Efrain answers

Harry mounts Morgan and they both head towards the gates. Efrain led the way to the South Trade Road gate.

Efrain motioned for Harry to join him, when they were out of the city walls.

Harry moved closer to see what he wanted.

"Just because I am Karsite, does not mean, I am any less a Herald." Efrain states, as he looked over at his Internee.

Harry looked him over as well "I never thought that I'm more worried of us just getting along."

"Traditionally, you are not supposed to know who you're interning under, but this time, I think they should have introduced us first." Efrain states, "If anything, if you can't trust another Herald, who can you trust?" He then shrugged, "But then again, I didn't have the time until recently."

"I know I can trust you we're both Heralds I'm mostly thinking about personality's." Harry said as he leaned back in his saddle.

:Your personalities shouldn't matter, Chosen. Enchantress thinks your worries are pointless, her Chosen is a gentle person when not confronted by a threat to country, Karse or Valdemar. He serves both still.: Morgan piped up.

:I know and I don't care about where he comes from we just need to do our job that's what this internship all about right: Harry replies

:So stop with your worrying, Teren isn't stupid, he and the others of the Circle chose Efrain as your mentor because he has about magic.: Morgan states

:Never doubted it for a minute: Harry answers

"Would it help if you know a little more about me?" Efrain questions, "I would like to consider you a friend after your internship is over?"

Harry turned to Efrain and with a smile "That sound good we can both learn about each other and I would like that to."

"I grew up in a village in Bellvalley in Karse to a family of goat herders." Efrain began explaining his own child hood, touching on how his grandfather would tell frightening tales of Demon-riders and their hellhorses. "Of course, that is utter nonsense. I have learned since then that the Sunlord is worshiped here as well."

Harry rode besides him listening to his story and then told him about his life as well leaving out how he was found by his parents.

"Which is why, I named my Companion, Enchantress, because she enchanted me." Efrain states, "Also since the alliance, Trainees have been made to learn Karsite."

"That was one of my hardest lessons I had to learn." Harry chuckled at the memory.

"You try learning how to speak Valdemaren, I still find it hard." Efrain laughed, "Enchantress had to show me what my instructors wanted of me."

"True, I guess we can practice on each other if you want." Harry suggests

The two Heralds came upon the outskirts of a village when another Herald hailed them.

Morgan and Enchantress stopped at the sight of the Companion stallion walking up to them.

Efrain dismounted and walked over to the Herald, clasping hands in greeting.

Harry followed suit and then waited to hear what was going on from the road, they were traveling on.

The Herald informed them of an illness that only came during winter, then just basic things and of one village headman that was stubborn about admitting when he was in the wrong. The Herald then helped the two new heralds transfer their things from the mules to his Chirras.

"This village is closer to the Capital, they won't really need us. So let's get a hot meal and some provisions for the road." Efrain states

"Sounds like a good plan to me" Harry agrees as they rode on to the town.

Once in the village, children swarmed them vying for attention from the Companions or giving them a treat while some of the older children went off to get one of the elders.

The innkeeper came with bags bulging with wrapped sausage and cheese biscuits, "This should keep until you reach one of them Waystations of yours."

They both thanked him, and went on their way. Efrain questioned Harry on why Heralds used Waystations.

Harry answered the questions.

Efrain smiled as he was given the correct answers. As the sun was setting, Efrain bowed his head in pray.

Harry waited for him to be done respecting his beliefs.

Efrain looked up, "Enchantress, would you please find the nearest station for us?"

The Companion whinnied in respond.

"I can't Mindspeak very well; I have to be in a deep trance to even remotely understand Enchantress." Efrain explained

Harry followed glad that his first day went well. "Well we all have our strengths and weaknesses."

"My gift of TouchReading, is rather strong but my mindspeech is lacking," Efrain sighed, "but it saves on back talk too. My gift teacher said I was blocked, so it might get stronger someday."

Enchantress huffed and bucked a little to prove her point of getting her Chosen to understand she was insulted.

"Forgive me, Oh fairest of Companions." Efrain apologized

The Companion Mare found the Waystation, Efrain took both Companions and Chirras while Harry fumigated the station before taking their bags into the station itself, having a male counselor was slightly better than a female one, because once Efrain returned from grooming both Companions and Chirras, the two got enough water from the well to get a decent bath.

For several days into his Internship, Harry had learned one very important fact about his counselor couldn't cook to save his or his Companion's lives. Harry took charge of the meals that they didn't get from the villages.
