Katniss Pov
The next morning, Foxy came back. "I lost my cool, it won't happen again," Foxy drops her things to the floor. "Being out there is harder then it looks," she states, coming over to stand in front of me, "I apologize for my actions. Can I come back?" she looked terrified, obviously worried we would reject her. But we didn't. we accepted her back with open arms.
Camp had become much more quiet after Prim and Peeta took off, but it regained some life when Foxy came back. With only four people here, Cato, Clove, Foxy, and I, we had less whiney mouths to feed and had more time to get the basic repairs done around the house. Now, a week after the last people left, things are running smoothly.
"Cato, Clove, could you go and try and reroute some of the river so it goes through the trench we made?" I ask, trying to think of jobs.
"Sure, let's go!" Clove yells, happy to be doing something after everyone slept in later then her. Cato only grunts in response, looking from me to Clove with pleading eyes, begging me silently not to make him go with her.
Ever since the others left, he's become a lot more open and less… confined. He jokes around with the rest of us, is helpful, and he is even pleasant to be around. Before, I used to hate his cocky attitude, his perfect looks and his arrogant reactions, but he's gotten better, he's started to behave like a real person, not just a robot built for combat.
I nod my head discreetly at him, gesturing for him to follow Clove with my eyes. His shoulders slump slightly as he leans foreword, and slowly stumbles to his feet. Turning to Foxy, I smile.
"It's you and me on house duty today. We need to get the bread dough made so we can let it rise over night." I say, happy we finally worked out the kinks in our bread recipe. Our food was getting dull, just meat and vegetables, but then Peeta found a way to grind the grains into flour, and one thing led to another, then BAM! Fresh bread for everyone.
"Alright." And we set off to work. First adding the right amount of each ingredient into a wooden bowl, then we took turn mixing the giant blob of goo. At a steady pace, we started putting the mounds of dough on spare planks of wood and moving them inside.
"Looks like it's going to rain." Foxy comments as we settle down inside the main cabin. "Let's just hope they get back here before it starts."
With a silent nod, I lie down on the floor and close my eyes, focusing on my breathing until it evens out and before I know it, I'm asleep.

"We need to head in." I complain to Clove as we trudge through the woods.
"Not until we find food. They're counting on us." Clove replies, jumping over another fallen log.
Sighing, I step over the same obstacle. The only reason I'm out here is because Katniss asked. When Glimmer left, I realized she was the one that was affecting my mood, making me sour and angry all the time with her constant complaining and whining. Sure she was the one my family had picked out for me to marry, but honestly, I can't stop comparing her to Katniss.
Katniss was the type of person to make it through anything, no matter what the cost. She was patient and intelligent; she had to be to survive that crash and staying alive with only her father's bow and the hopeful thoughts of home. She helped in any way she could, putting others before herself, making sure everyone was healthy. From what I've heard from Prim, she'd always had a protective instinct.
She was beautiful as well, with her long hair that must not have been cut during the time on the island, an athletic body that was ready for everything. And then there were her eyes. Amazing grey orbs that looked into the depths of your soul, saw all your mistakes and then forgave you for your sins. She was strong.
Glimmer, on the other hand, was the type of person to manipulate others. She was conniving and clever when she wanted to be, but was often a ditz where it counted. She relies on others, so much that if she were sent into the hunger games, she would die even if she made it out of the alliance alive. She was a social climber, using her fake looks to her advantage. She backstabbed and clawed her way to the top. Even with all the time I was forced to spend with her, I still hated everything about her. But her money was what my family wanted and they were willing to sacrifice my happiness to get it. My grandfather has done it to everyone in our family, but some how all these fake husbands and wives ended up dead after their fortunes were under our family name. I'm not surprised; he was always a bit of a snake when it came to these things.
Glimmer was fake, form top to bottom. From the weeks she's spent on the island, you could see her natural brunette roots peeking out from under the bleach blonde hair dye. Her body was stick thin; showing she would do anything to be perfect, even starve herself. And her eyes were a dead blue, icy cold and calculating, and they made your skin crawl from her even gazing at you. She was weak.
And then it hit me; I like Katniss Everdeen. She was the perfect person, and I'm sure I could sway her feelings towards me. With a wide grin on my face, I started to try and catch up with Clove, who was now a good distance ahead but had an obvious path by the looks of the destroyed plant life. Taking a few steps foreword, I begin to run, but that's before I run into someone unexpected.
Glimmer.
"Hello Cato." She purrs, getting close enough to rub my arm before I recoil in disgust. She pouts, "Oh babe, don't be like that." Cackling, she takes a small step backwards, and I let out a breath.
"What do you want?" I ask tiredly, knowing she won't leave until she gets what she wants.
"You know what I want. You. Know lets go back to my camp and we can talk about our… issues." I laugh at the thought. She thinks I would just come quietly? Dream on.
"Nope, I think I'm good." I say, starting to walk away, but stop cold at her next sentence.
"I'll kill her."
Alright guys, the story will be coming to a close soon, but watch out for the sequel. I haven't picked a name yet, but I will inform you before the story ends. I also want to apologize for not updating for a while. I've been stressed with school and then I got sick for three weeks. I hope to write the next chapter as quickly as possible - Vanessa Knight
