Here's the next one. Compared to the original anime, Atticus will wake up before the next Shadow Rider starts making her move. No, it's not going to be the stupid vampire duelist. I swear, the only dignity she has is that she doesn't sparkle. Review please!
Alexis, Ronda, Carl, Alexis, Bastion, Syrus and Zane had checked on Jaylin and Atticus the next day, who were both still out like a light. Zane had text Yugi about what had occurred with Jaylin and Nightshroud. Everyone continually worried that Jaylin and Atticus would never wake up or that Atticus was still under Nightshroud's control. There were too many possibilities that could happen.
Every member of the dance team visited Jaylin as well, worried that she would never wake up after the events that happened last night. It would only be until two days, after the fight with Nightshroud, when Jaylin would finally wake up. Fonda slightly gasped when she saw Jaylin's eyes flutter open.
"Are you doing okay, sweetheart?" Fonda asked.
"M-hm," Jaylin answered, yawning. "You got anything to eat?"
"Of course! We'll get you food right away!" Fonda replied, running out of the office to get food for Jaylin, who was starving like crazy.
It had been less than five minutes before Ms. Dorothy arrived with food for Jaylin, who took it and began stuffing her face. The lunch lady chuckled over this, not blaming the poor girl for starving like this, being that she hadn't eaten anything in two days. Jaylin would end up eating two square meals before she was finally stuffed.
"You're lucky to have woken up. Atticus is still out like a light," Ms. Dorothy stated.
"How long was I out?" Jaylin asked.
"About two days."
"Good. I was afraid it was weeks. One time, I was out for three whole months after a Shadow Game."
"Wow!"
"Yeah, the time differs, depending on how much of a workout I'm doing. I also was thinking that Atticus would wake up before me, being that Nightshroud had already put too good of a workout on him for him to be out that long."
"Well, you're sure a tough one, Jaylin. You were here before, but this is the first time I've actually had to change your clothes or bathe you, while you were asleep," Fonda said with slightly widened eyes. "You must be doing some P90X or something!"
"No, being a Dark user takes alot out of you. I know this is hard to believe, but my body can still produce babies," Jaylin assured. If taken out of context, it would seem that she was being nasty, but she was assuring that she didn't have athletic amenorrhoea.
"I see."
"Jaylin, thank goodness you're awake!" Ronda cried out, who just entered the Nurse's office, the others being behind the door. She ran up next to Jaylin's bed and bowed her head. "How are you feeling?"
"Better. I was afraid Atticus would wake up before me, honestly," Jaylin replied, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Jaylin, I can't thank you enough for bringing back Atticus. Is Nightshroud really gone from him?" Zane asked quietly.
"He is. I don't feel his presence anymore," Jaylin assured, giving Zane a wink, which made him smile in response. He walked up to Jaylin and bowed his head. She smiled and rested her head on her arms, which she folded behind. "You know, the best part about being here is that I don't have to go to class." Everyone laughed, Zane rolling his eyes.
Just then, everyone heard a deep moaning. They all turned and noticed Atticus twitching his lips. Zane slowly walked over to his close friend, whom he hadn't seen in so many years, trying to hold his emotions in. Atticus' eyes fluttered open, seeing Zane. He rubbed his eyes to make sure his vision was seeing things correctly.
"Am I... dead?" Atticus asked, then looked at his surroundings, seeing Jaylin on the bed next to his. Suddenly, his face brightened. "And is that a hot chick next to me!?" Both Zane and Alexis facepalmed at the same time.
"He's defiantly okay!" Alexis muttered.
"Alexis, why are you here in a Obelisk Blue outfit? In fact, why is Zane wearing one too?" Atticus asked, looking at his sister, then Zane.
"You were gone for two years. I'm a Senior now," Zane explained as Atticus blinked, then looked his hospital gown through the neck hole.
"Wow, major puberty much!" Atticus commented, then showed a smirk. "So, tell me, since when did you decide to make the honor role? I thought that was beneath you, Zane the Slifer Man!"
"You were in Slifer Red?" Jaylin asked with a huge grin. "Sweetness!"
"Anyways, this is Jaylin Yuki. She's Syrus' friend and Alexis' best friend," Zane introduced, trying to change the subject.
"Hello lovely, you wouldn't happen to be single, would you?" Atticus asked, showing a huge grin on her face.
"She's not a slut, so you can forget it, Atticus!" Zane responded.
"You're no fun!" Atticus pouted with folded arms. "You've always been a sourpuss, you know that?"
"At least I'm not a pervert. By the way, Jaylin saved your life. If not for her, Nightshroud would still be using you as a puppet."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Nightshroud's kinda pissed after I burned his bitch alive. That's what you get when you mess with a dark user with the powers of hell itself," Jaylin bragged as Atticus' eyes widened.
"As I stated. She's not a slut," Zane said.
"...oh," Atticus responded.
"Atticus," Fonda said, gaining her patient's attention. "While changing your clothes, I happen to find this." She showed a necklace with some sort of half piece to an amulet or charm of some sort. There was a half of a red jewel in the middle that would show the Eye of Horus. "Do you know what this could be?"
"I have no idea, but it looks familiar," Atticus replied, furrowing his eyebrows as he took the half of the trinket. He looked at Zane. "Think you can get my laptop... um... if I still have it here?"
"You can use this," Alexis replied, giving Atticus her iPad.
"They finally came out with these? Sweet!" Atticus asked in gleam excitement as he began searching through the web on something about shadows. His eyebrows furrowed, biting the corner of his lip. Then, showed a smirk. "I knew it! It's a Shadow Charm! I saw a picture of these when reading the Book of Black Magic. That's how we revived Nightshroud, Truman and Tragoedia."
"I never saw those, when we got the book, Atticus," Zane claimed, seemingly confused.
"That's because we summoned them from the Spirit World... or at least one of us did."
"One of you had dark magic and didn't know it," Jaylin realized with furrowed eyebrows. She took Atticus' hand and shot a little bit of dark magic into Atticus, who looked at her funny. "You don't have any dark magic, meaning that your friend has it. That's probably why Nightshroud chose to play a Shadow Game against me, using you instead of both you and Fuji." Just then, she realized something, taking her hand from Atticus'. "Wait, how did you know all of this?"
"Didn't I say that Atticus was 'the smart one'?" Zane smirked as Jaylin blinked.
"So, what is this with the Shadow Charm?" Ronda asked.
"Hm..." Atticus responded, furrowing his eyebrows and searching through the web again. "I'm getting interesting results. It's said that they were created long ago, 3000 to be exact, by Tragoedia and his brothers, after the destruction of Kul Elna."
"My father taught me about that. I thought Bakura, the thief king, was the only survivor," Jaylin stated.
"He was during Pharaoh Atem's reign, but not during Pharaoh Aknamkanon's reign. Before then, there were thought to have been three survivors or civilians. During the destruction, they were in another town, so they never met the same fate. When they discovered their home was destroyed, they sought revenge and created eight shadow charms, one of them split into two, which is the Shadow Pendant," Atticus explained. "They created from the same dark arts used to create the millennium items, but there's a catch..."
"A catch?"
"Yeah. You see, the millennium items were created by the sacrifices of civilians of Kul Elna, but the creator of those items sold his soul to the darkness of the Shadow Realm and only himself. These three did worse than that."
"What did they do?" Alexis asked, watching her brother show a devious smirk.
"After the sacrifices of innocent people from the city, where the Pharaoh currently lived, they sold the soul of the prince of Egypt himself to the Shadows," Atticus replied, everyone's eyes widening in response. "And not just him, but the prince and princess, who would eventually be the Supreme King and the Dark Queen of Babylon; during this time, Babylon was Egypt's greatest enemy."
"Shit," Jaylin almost whispered. "That would mean these guys sent Atem to the Shadow Realm as a kid against his will."
"And gave him the powers of Satan and hell itself. That's why Pharaoh Aknamkanon pleaded to the gods to save his son."
"What about the other two?" Alexis asked.
"The prince and princess of Babylon? Well, they couldn't be saved from the curse they were given, so they were forever bound to the Shadow Realm and legend says that they rule the Shadow Realm to this day. As I was saying before, these trickets have incredible powers that have said to be as powerful as the millennium items combined, though it doesn't say what each of the powers are. It's only stated that Pharaoh Aknamkanon teamed with the Babylonians, using the two princes' and princess, whom the trio sold to the Shadow Realm, against them, including the millennium items. Tragoedia, Truman and Nightshroud were banished to the Shadow Realm, including the eight Shadow Charms..."
"Until you guys decided to mess with dark magic?" Jaylin asked.
"Pretty much," Zane replied.
"I see," Jaylin almost whispered, taking the trinket. The powers inside the charm were weak without the other half. "I will keep this. Maybe it can provide me clues to defeating these guys."
"Maybe."
"What I'm wondering is why Nightshroud would let you have one part of a powerful item," Atticus wondered, showing a smirking smile.
"I'm wondering the same thing too," Jaylin agreed.
