Dirty Little Secret

"Still no pulse!" one of the nurses yelled out as they continued trying to bring Cartman back to life.
Kyle stood where he was at frozen in horror as he saw the look on the doctor's face almost as if the doctor already knew what was going to happen.
"Alright let's call it. Time of death…"
The doctor was cut off as Kyle rushed into the room and started yelling at him.
"HEY! YOU CAN'T JUST SAY HE'S DEAD! KEEP HELPING HIM!" Kyle yelled out as he started to feel himself start to panic.
"I'm sorry kid but we've tried for a few minutes already and since he's shown no signs of life chances are he's not going to…"
Kyle growled as he turned his attention to Cartman and started pounding on his chest trying to get him to breath. The doctor and nurses moved out of the way as Kyle started yelling at Cartman to wake up. One of the nurses went to close the door to the room so that way Kyle's yelling couldn't be heard as loud as he was being. As soon as he saw the door close to Cartman's room Stan felt himself start to panic as the tears rolled down his face.
"Dammit Cartman fight! You're not supposed to die ESPECIALLY not like this! Whatever happened to making my life a living hell huh?! You're SUPPOSED to be here to call me a fucking Jew and I'm supposed to call you a fucking fatass! That's the way it's always been!" Kyle yelled as he kept pushing down on Cartman's chest hoping to get his heart beating, "and what about Stan huh? Are you really just going to die and leave him here feeling guilty about what happened to you? Are you seriously going to do that to him?"
Kyle hadn't realized that he had been crying the whole time as he kept yelling at Cartman even though he knew that Cartman most likely wasn't going to make it. Cartman was in complete shock as he kept watching Kyle try to bring him back.
"You can't do this to us fatass! Not after all of this! You actually ASKED for my help and for once I found myself thinking that finally you're not as much of an ass as I thought you were before and now that you're dying I can't even fucking tell you that I'm sorry!" Kyle choked on a sob as he looked at Cartman who was still unresponsive.
Cartman was completely surprised at Kyle's outburst as he watched the doctor go up to him and start to pull Kyle away from him.
"I'm sorry kid but your friend is…"
"NO!" Kyle screamed as he pulled away from him and went back to pushing Cartman's chest.
"Son listen to me. Your friend has lost a lot of blood. In fact it's a miracle that your other friend made it considering he was already dead by the time he got here." The doctor told him.
Kyle didn't have to think about it for long to figure out what probably happened. With a determined look on his face Kyle turned to face the doctor.
"Just give him some of my blood then. He and I have the same blood type." Kyle told him.
"First we'd have to get him breathing but it doesn't look like that's going to happen." The doctor replied.
"There has to be something we can do!" Kyle said worriedly.
"I'm sorry son but after trying to revive him so many times there's nothing else that we can really do to help him."
Kyle sighed.
"Please just give him some of my blood anyway. I can't just stand here and do nothing. It's bad enough that I haven't really cared before about what happens to him and now I just…" Kyle said biting his lip, "If he dies I'll never be able to forgive myself for how I've treated him and worse yet I'm also afraid of what Stan might do."
The doctor nodded already knowing that it wasn't going to work but decided to do it anyway.
"Alright just follow me to another room." The doctor told him.
While the doctor took Kyle to another room to get some blood from him Stan was still in his room waiting to hear what happened with Cartman. He looked up at the nurse who was still in his room.
"Hey uh could you do me a favor and take me to my friends room please? I need to see him." Stan asked with pleading eyes.
The nurse sighed shaking her head.
"I don't think that's a good idea. You're still in pretty bad shape yourself." The nurse told him.
"Please he could…" Stan swallowed trying to keep his emotions in check but failing miserably, "…he could die. I NEED to see him so please…"
One look at Stan and she knew he wasn't kidding. Reluctantly she nodded her head and started moving his bed out of his room and towards Cartman's room who still had a few nurses with him still trying to revive him. As soon as he entered the room Stan turned white as he saw that Cartman wasn't breathing and he felt as though he lost the ability to speak as he found himself on the verge of bursting into tears.
"He wants some time with his friend." Stan's nurse told the other nurses as she moved the bed next to Cartman's bed.
The nurses once again moved out of the way so that Stan could have some time with Cartman. Stan slowly moved his hand towards Cartman as he grabbed Cartman's hand and gently squeezed it.
"Hey, Eric." Stan whispered wincing at the sound of the flat line coming from the monitor.
Stan swallowed trying to keep himself calm enough to try to talk to him but unfortunately his emotions were just too strong that he ended up choking on a sob as he looked at Cartman his eyes starting to get red from crying so much.
"Listen um I need you to come back ok I just…" Stan was struggling with what he wanted to say as he kept looking at him with a hurt and guilty look on his face, "…I don't know what to do if you're not here dude and I know it's my fault. If it wasn't for me you wouldn't be…"
Stan suddenly felt like throwing up as the more he thought about it the more guilt and hurt he felt.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't believe you when you said someone was stalking you and I'm sorry that I ended up getting you…" Stan shut his eyes tight from how much pain he was feeling emotionally as he started to sob, "I just wanted you to know that I, even though we weren't going out for that long, love you and I can't stand the idea of you not being here so please just…I need you to come back. There's no way I could live with myself if you died ESPECIALLY because of me. Please just…I need to tell you how sorry I am that I didn't care as much as I should have when we were kids. I sided with Kyle a lot because he was my super best friend but I should've asked you about how you were feeling. I just….I feel like I failed you as a friend because I know I could've been there for you more but I didn't and I'm sorry." Stan said as tears slowly fell down his face as he looked at Cartman.
"It's not your fault, Stan. You really shouldn't put the blame on yourself. It's all on me for being who I was before so it's no ones fault but my own." Cartman replied even though he knew Stan couldn't see him, "You can get past this Stan. It's not like it's Kyle who is dying and besides...I'm not worth it." Cartman said remembering how Stan looked when he found out that Kyle was going to die.
Cartman watched worriedly as Stan struggled to sit up so he could move closer to Cartman and hug him. Stan winced at the pain he was feeling from his injury but ignored it as he moved towards Cartman and laid down on top of him with his arms around him. A few minutes later the doctor came back with some of Kyle's blood and insisted that Stan go back to his bed so he could give Cartman the blood and to try to revive him again. Hoping that the doctor would be able to bring Cartman back Stan got off of him and moved back to lie on his own bed. Thinking that even this wasn't going to work all of a sudden Cartman saw a bright flash of light coming from behind him making him turn around to see what it was. Unfortunately he didn't get a good enough look and all of a sudden everything went black. Next thing Cartman knew he felt himself lying on something soft as he groaned and slowly opened his eyes. He immediately recognized that he was in the hospital since when he was a kid he would occasionally end up in the hospital for different reasons. He looked around the room and saw that his mom was sitting in a chair right next to his bed clearly asleep. Frowning slightly Cartman wondered how long she had been there and where Stan and the others were at. Just then the doctor came into the room to check on him and was surprised to find that Cartman was awake.
"Well, well about time you woke up. We were starting to wonder if you would ever wake up." The doctor said as he walked closer to them and gently nudged Liane to wake her up.
"What happened?" Cartman asked just as Liane woke up and saw that her son was awake.
"Oh Eric sweety you're awake!" Liane cried out happily as she threw her arms around him.
"You don't remember? You were stabbed and brought in along with two others." The doctor told him.
Cartman's eyes went wide when he suddenly remembered exactly what happened.
"What happened to the other guy that came in? His name is Stan Marsh." Cartman asked fearing that Stan might have died.
"At first we didn't think he was going to make it but by some miracle he did along with your other friend I believe his name was Kenny McCormick?" the doctor replied.
Cartman sighed completely relieved to hear that.
"Can I see him?" Cartman asked.
"Son your friends were released from the hospital a few weeks ago."
Cartman's eyes went wide in horror.
"I've been here for a couple of weeks?!" Cartman yelled out in surprise.
The doctor nodded.
"Yes. Apparently your wound was so serious that it needed time to heal and even then we needed to wait for you to wake up on your own as well. Plus you lost a lot of blood and unfortunately we didn't have your blood type but luckily we managed to find a donor."
Cartman frowned wondering who on earth would have given him blood. The only name that came to mind was Kyle because they had the same blood type but even then Kyle wasn't going to just give blood to him. He hated him after all.
"So then when will I be able to leave?" Cartman asked.
"Sooner than you think. You seem to be healing nicely. It was a miracle that your friend Stan made it considering he came in a much worse condition than you did."
This alarmed Cartman as he looked at the doctor in horror.
"What do you mean?"
"Well it doesn't matter now but he was already dead when he got here. How we got him back is a miracle to me." The doctor told him.
Cartman turned white as soon as he heard that.
"So you're sure he's ok?" Cartman asked.
"Yes he's ok. He's even come to visit you every single day since he was released." The doctor replied.
"So then where is he now?" Cartman asked.
"He's at school, Eric. He's been trying to stay with you all day for as long as he could but his parents decided that he needed to go back to school. Your friends Kyle, Kenny and Butters have all been here as well." Liane told him, "Speaking of I should probably go inform them that you're awake. I promised them I'd notify them if your condition changed. I'm so glad you're ok sweety." Liane said kissing him on the cheek before getting up and leaving the room.
"How are you feeling son?" The doctor asked.
"I'm ok I guess. I feel like I haven't moved in forever." Cartman replied.
"You're not in any pain?"
Cartman shook his head.
"Well I guess the only way to be sure is when you start moving. Anyway your friends will be happy to see that you're awake." The doctor told him before leaving the room.
Cartman watched him leave before turning his gaze towards the ceiling. He knew that when Stan gets there he was going to have to break up with him. He didn't want to but after this experience with Scott Tenorman Cartman knew that Stan would be better off without him around. He caused so much trouble when he was a kid that he knew there was no possible way that someone like him could ever have a relationship since chances are all it'll do is put that person in danger. He's pissed off so many people that he was afraid that someone else will also probably go after him for whatever it was that he's done.
'I'm sorry Stan for ever letting you get involved with me.' Cartman thought sadly.
