DarkPriestess66: I do not own any of the songs.
Corina was in the choir room with Flitwick, he was helping her practice singing, the Herald was coming to like the little half-human. The professor was teaching some of the songs he knew in exchange for more of the songs Corina knew.
The herald stopped singing at the end of the last verse, she reached over for the goblet of water, she refused to drink pumpkin juice.
"These songs are wonderful and your vocal range is great as well I would say if you were to stay the weird sister might have real compaction" Flitwick jokes as they both take a break.
"I sing for pleasure of myself and my friends, not for fame. I have that already just by being a Herald." Corina replies, this was one of the after dinner performances, she agreed to give.
"Oh I understand but that doesn't mean word of your singing won't get around I've seen some of the older students looking up spell to records your singing." Flitwick explains to her.
"I hope they do not find them." Corina replied "Have you enchanted the instruments for tonight's after-supper performance?"
"Yes and don't worry those spells are locked away in Professor McGonagall's office. " Flitwick explains as he shows the instruments at the ready.
Corina smiled before she made her leave, she wandered the halls, giving a friendly word or two to passing students, but she just wandered aimlessly. Somehow she ended up in the dark forest. She walked across the woods hearing many strange sounds and catching glimpses of something in the woods watching her as well.
A majestic white creature with a horn on its forehead appeared before her, it was a stallion. But it didn't come anyway close to her. But she caught the faint impression that it was warning her to leave. Corina stared for a bit longer then decided to heed the warning feeling it was the smart choice.
Corina went to the lake, there wasn't much to do, she wanted to be out on the road or even teaching a round of classes at the collegium. Homesickness again, and she disliked it. She dozed in the sunshine, and Dasher's mental prodding woke her up, telling her it was almost time for supper. She stood and dusted herself off when she saw movement in the waters of the lake.
The Herald dismissed the movement and went up to the castle, she joined her life-mate, who was waiting for her.
:So what song are you planning for tonight, songbird?: Harry asks through mindspeech.
:The Herald's Creed, do you want to join me this time?: Corina responds
Harry nods knowing he has to drive the point home that he was not staying here and that the Head's way was his life now.
Once dinner was over, the students waited for their twice a week treat of Herald Corina singing for them. The students that were going to leave with them, watched as the Companions moved into the center as the two Heralds moved around the stand beside them.
The sight was a strange one for everyone as Harry normally didn't join in the singing or did the companions draw attention to themselves.
"The song, Herald-Mage Harry and I are about to perform was used as a oath back in Herald-Mage Vanyel's time." Corina explains
"Some people do not grasp that I am living my own life." Harry added
The enchanted instruments began to play, first the trumpet, then the bass drum.
"I pledge this day my sword, my heart to build and help preserve;
Although I'm live my life apart from those that I must serve.
The laws of truth I will obey in every thought and deed,
Stand fast while others turn away, upon The Herald's Creed.
I vow to heal the wrongs I see as long as I shall live.
My heart will guide me faithfully and teach me how to give,
I'll render way as best I can and to those who are in pain
And by the strength of my own hand restore the peace again.
The deeds of those who lived before, have bound my life to theirs.
Their legends open up the door and taught me how to care
The touch of my Companion's thoughts bring friendship, song and joy.
It is upon that love has wrought and time cannot destroy.
I swear to guard and keep the crown defending all that's just,
No force will ever bring it down, this is our sacred trust.
My path is clear before me now, my choices all are made
In Honor's name I take a vow to face life unafraid.
Upon my soul I make a vow this light will never fade."
The Heralds finished the song and left the hall at a formal pace. Their Companions following a second after them, even the gryphon left.
The hall fell silent the face of the headmaster face stony impassive and the rest of the hall finally understood harry was leaving as soon as voldemort was dead.
Each student that was joining the Heralds stood up, and left their House tables.
The rest of the students and the professors just glared at the headmaster.
The Heralds sat at the table, inside their tent that Harry had figured out to expand with magic.
"Dumbledore looked like he was going to have a fit of apoplexy." Corina crowed as she started laughing.
"Well he understands now that we are not part of this world and that we're going home afterwards." Harry responds
Jerven poked his head into the tent, "Along with sssome guessstsss. Who arrree outsside the Vale."
Harry stood and went to tent flap to see who was at the edge of the vale. He found Hermione, Luna, Neville, and Draco, he had dropped his I-am-better-then-everyone mask once invited into the vale area.
The group looked relieved to be away from the castle itself, Draco had a note in his hands and gave it to Harry. On the note, Snape had written down voldemort's plans to attack the school in the following week.
